Mama Theo’s Bar-B-Que & Wings Menu

We're in from Atlanta and my only problem with this restaurant is it's not in Atlanta. I had the best wings I've had in a very long time...and we have a regular wing place. Jumbo, juicy and they are really made to order - not precooked with sauce added after you order. For $8.99, that came with a side, carrot sticks and celery, and ranch or blue cheese. I think I could have been satisfied with the 4 wings meal, though. This is the definition of a hole in the wall, but for those who truly love them, you won't mind the atmosphere. We ate in, but they do takeout.

Here's the thing: one can love and appreciate a place and jointly realize it's a) not ready for prime time and b) not *for* many who are going to see a lot of stars and climb up these lovely folks bums like they're getting paid to do so (please see previous low rated reviews for evidence of such). Me, I've eaten Mama Theo's five or six times, mostly takeaway, but at least once in house. This is a very small town, understaffed (nearly unstaffed) place. There is *always* a lot on the menu that is unavailable. (Yeah, y'all giving this place 4 and 5 stars - even though your food was good - only give the impression that this place isn't seriously small town and, though friendly, not even close to being timely, accessible, with a remotely reliable menu, not helpful - so just stop it.) If you're not ok with a "get what you get, and like it" kinda world-view, please keep driving. Seriously. Life is short. No need to poke the tiny ma & pa BBQ joint in the nuts, kay? Mama's has some tasty wings. Their meats are (in general) pre-sauced (ETA: meaning for service), and of the sticky - with - sauce - style. Smoke is minimal, though present. If this is not your BBQ bit, I understand completely. And don't bother these nice folks serving the hell out of the tasty food they believe in and work hard to make. Mac 'n' cheese benefits from a dose of pepper, as does beans 'n' beef. Greens were good, also. The service is kind and helpful, even when distracted (understandably) by the other ba-jillion things on their small-business to do list. Again, this is not a destination spot, but, given flexibility and a tablespoon of humanity or patience, a rewarding spot to find a tasty, meaty bit to gnaw on when the moons align. A three star review, just to point out, is A-OK. Nothing to flag off, regardless of the plethora of reviews that would indicate this place is the caterer for the next coming.

Umm...not sure what all the rave is on this spot? I'm guessing cause it's the only BBQ in the area? I tried the sampler but they were out of pulled pork and I don't eat wings so they gave me one extra rib and one extra serving of chicken. The ribs were ok but very fatty. The chicken was a little dry but had decent flavor. The BBQ sauce? HORRRRRRRRRIBLE! It tasted like a weird kind of ketchup.. Sides...Mac and cheese, eh...dry, not much flavor. The greens were good, not to vinegary and had some shredded pork. Sweet tea is not "sweet tea"...if you're from the south you know what's up! Customer service was excellent! I just wish I could like it more but no....do yourself a favor and go to Louisville for BBQ.

First time trying this place here in Radcliff, I have been driving pat it for several months now. I stopped in on Sunday and Andre took my order, he was very polite and courteous. I ordered the tri tip and buffalo wings. They came with 3 sides and I got the cabbage, Mac and cheese and baked beans. The food was delicious. I will certainly be back.

Coming from Oklahoma... I know good bbq. And THIS is good bbq. I ordered the ribs and chose cabbage and Cole slaw add my sides. Zero complaints. The meat was falling off the bone, the sauce had flavor, the cabbage was ridiculous! I could have eaten a meal of just the cabbage. The Cole slaw was delightful. No complaints.

I am going to be very fair here. This place is another hidden gem in the Ft. Knox area. I arrived at opening to lunch and the proprietors were just finishing prep for lunch. First and foremost these folks are awesome! It is ran by only two people and apparently they were busy with togo orders that were coming in. Please do not be in a hurry or you will be disappointed. Wait and the proverb of good things come to those that wait will come to fruition. The pork is not seasoned a lot and has very little smoke. Yet it is moist and the homemade bbq sauce is fantastic. I asked for a small side of the pulled chicken and wow!!!! I wish I had ordered a heaping pile of it. It is aggressively seasoned and full of bbq smoke and even that good crunchy bark. The Mac and cheese is a dry version...not soupy like other places and had great flavor. The bbq beans with beef is delightful! During my stay some regulars came in and moma knows them well. When a place asks if you want the regular...seems they love their patrons. I was treated as a regular from go. Can't wait to come back to try the ribs, the wings and the ribs. I would skip the pork though as it is just not what shines here. I see why most have rated this place a 5, but gotta get the pork up there with the chicken. Service is slow and they could use another hand. But keep in mind this is a small operation that is to be rated on the food! If you want someone to cater to your every whim then go eat some crappy food elsewhere. This guy knows how to politely wait for some of the best bbq in the region.

Was at Fort Knox for a training and saw this little place. The place was deserted so we were a little skeptical at first. I am so happy that we stayed, this place is delicious! When I'm back in the area I'll definitely stop by. I got the pulled pork dinner with mac and cheese, corn on the cob and cornbread. The bbq sauce was on point and the pork was cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was decent but the cornbread was exactly what good cornbread should be, moist and just a little sweet. The corn on cob was steamed just right and really good for it being January! The other people with me got the sampler which has a ton of food (the wings were huge and super juicy). They all said they really enjoyed their food. The guy who ran the kitchen was extremely nice and clearly working hard to make sure everything was prefect and his customers were happy. He came out multiple times to check in and refill drinks even though they got slammed with customers. In summary: great bbq and super friendly staff. Go now!

You want some good old fashion BBQ wings, this should be your #1 place to go in Radcliff. Very tasty and finger licking good wings. Hmm Hmm Hmm.

YUM! Yes, this a small hole-in-the-wall but the food is amazing. We had the bourbon wings and pulled bbq pork. The wings were big and meaty. The pork was tender with lots of sweet, tangy sauce. The guys working were very polite and friendly. Checking us multiple times to make sure we had what we needed and were satisfied with our food. Service was fast, we only waited maybe 10 minutes and the food was HOT when it arrived at the table. Definitely making the drive back from Louisville again.

A quick stop while trying to get a bunch of errands completed. Pulled pork sandwich with collard greens for a side. They've got a simple menu which includes wings. Tasty and inexpensive. They are right across from City Pawn & Furniture on Dixie Hwy in Radcliff. Don't blink, you'll drive right by.

Nasty! They didn't have any pulled pork left at 1800 and I ordered a baked potatoe with shredded chicken. The toppings were minimal and the food tasted like gasoline. Gross. Will not be going back. Ever.

We were in a hotel 10 minutes up the street, on the same road where this restaurant is located. We decided we wanted bbq for lunch. We called numerous times to place our order. Unfortunately the restaurant did not open at the time that they have listed outside their door. We called two hours later, and were happy to hear someone pick up the phone. We placed our order and were told that our order would be ready in 20 minutes. When we arrived to pick up our order we were told that they had run out of wing dinners, which is what we'd ordered. So then changed our order to the rib dinner. The gentleman at the counter told us that he was out of rib dinners, next we asked for the chicken dinner. He was out of that as well. So we asked what do you have to serve today? He responded by saying that he had rib tip dinners available. We ordered the rib tip dinners which were okay, but the portion sizes were small and they were mostly bone and didn't contain much meat. We noticed also that the gentleman taking our order had dirt and grease under his nails and on his apron. He mentioned later that he owned Jordan's car shop next door, and that he was short staffed today and had to run back and forth between both the restaurant and the car shop. We figured that explained why he was late opening and also why his appearance was less than tidy. The gentleman was nice, but we will not be eating here again due to their lack of food selection and also because we are concerned about the cleanliness of the establishment. If we could give this restaurant zero stars, we would.

It's about time there's a good soul food restaurant in Radcliffe. The food is amazing and delicious! I definitely recommend this establishment.

I don't know who Mama Theo is, but this restaurant makes me wish I grew up in her kitchen! My wife and I are in town visiting family and stumbled upon this up and coming spot. And folks the focus is on "Up and Coming!" If you haven't been out to support your local fare lately, I have to recommend Mama's. They have only been around for 20 weeks, but you can't miss the bright red building from the outside. If you do venture in let me tell you not to let the bare inside full you, 20 weeks remember? What this place lacks in decor it makes up for in the flavor. Let's be real, that's why you went anyway. So let go of any preconceived notions and patiently wait while listening to the likely singing to be coming from the kitchen. Your patience will be greatly rewarded when you sink your teeth into the spare ribs. Smokey and flavorful, perfectly balanced, and tender enough to pull cleanly from the bone. If pork isn't your thing try the bourbon chicken wings. I can't remember ever having a bourbon sauce so finger lickin' good. Bottom line, Mama Theo's is a place to try, again, and again!

While the space leaves a lot to be desired, the food and service more than make up for it at Mama Theo's. My family and I visited at 6 pm on a Sunday. We ordered 5 dinners and 1 salad. My kids had the catfish, pulled chicken, and ribs dinner. They all loved their meal, though the 4 year old thought the chicken was a little "spicy." The fries were perfect, the coleslaw fantastic .., just enough vinegar and sugar to make it awesome, and the beans were enjoyed by 4/5 (I thought them a little too sweet). I ordered one of the best pulled pork salads I've ever tried and my husband had the pulled pork dinner. We enjoyed both the pork and the chicken (that the 4yo didn't eat). Next time I think I will order the pulled chicken with sauce on the side. The meats are smoked beautifully, with just enough crispy edges and smoke flavor. The sauce is a great sweeter sauce, but definitely has a little tang and spice as well. I prefer less sauce, just a personal preference because my husband had no issues with it, and thus the reason for altering my next order. But there will definitely be "next orders" in our future. And this coming from a family of highly critical BBQ eaters. The establishment seems to be one that does more take-out business than dine-in - especially for dinner. Either way, service is great and food is delicious!

I stopped at the Radcliff city park for their city day. Felt Hungary for a burger. On the way to my car saw a young man with two large burgers. Asked him were he got them and he directed me to the little restaurant called mama Theo next to Jordan's tint shop. Small quaint place with 6 or 7 well cleaned tables. Several customers were sitting around waiting, check out the single menu and decided to wait for a pulled pork diner with cabbage and baked beans w/beef. Told b4 I order that it would take approx 30 min because they had sold out. There were several people waiting. Short story, got there at 1.45pm got all my food at 3:45 pm. Including additional sides of collards, potato salad and 24 hot wings. Every min I waited was worth it. The pork was fresh, hot and melt in the mouth good. My wife loved the collards green and the potato salad was the best I,ve ever paid for. Great corn bread. Went back the next day for more today for my football games. The food is all excellent. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. Great place, try it soon, good restaurants don't last long in this town.
