To call this place just "Chinese" would be a sin. This place is just about the only "real" Chinese in Louisville. Such expertly perfected and tasteful dishes with such authentic pan-Asian flavors that your taste buds are thrust soulfully on an east bound journey. Check this place out if you really want to know the true authentic Chinese flavors that your favorite Chinese restaurant have been hiding from your pallet. No MSG.

Better than PF Changs at half the price! I've heard about this place for over a year. My wife and her friends were raving about how good the food was. I relucantly went with her 6 months ago and was very impressed. The place appears family-run and is very clean. The waitresses are all friendly and attentive. We started with hot and sour soup and were wowed! This is truly the best hot and sour I've ever had. The egg rolls came next and were perfectly crisp and the duck sauce had garlic bits for dipping - yum! The meal was seztuan (sp?) beef and fried rice. The quality off the food is off the hook people! I've tried the mongolian beef, kung pao chicken and beef, garlic chicken and loved them all. I recently brought my buddies there for lauch - great prices and the same fantastic food! Everyone I know who has dined at Tea Station loved it. This place makes me want to live in Norton Commons.

Back again for a huge takeout order while family in town for the holidays. Everything we ordered was excellent! Hot and sour soup very good! My favorite continues to be the pineapple chicken. Sushi was also a great blend of flavors! Now my favorite Chinese restaurant!

Excellent and authentic Chinese food with wonderful customer service. Great bubble tea and sushi is fresh and consistent in quality and taste. We have become quite the regulars here.

This is a great place for authentic Chinese Food and very romantic. The owners Paul and Amy are very sweet and friendly. The decor is extremely nice and romantic, not your typical chinese dive. Make sure to ask them for food off of the chinese menu for the real stuff!!! And for desert, get some of their (boba) bubble tea. I have had bubble tea in DC, San Francisco and L.A. and this place is the best I've ever had. It helps that most of the staff is from Tawain where bubble tea originated. My favorite is the Sweet MElon Flavor and add the Tapioca .. Other places in Louisville have tried to serve bubble tea but i have been very dissapointed in the taste and quality..

I have been here countless times since my first review. The food is pretty consistently good, however I have to take away a star because of the very inconsistent service. When the owners are running the show their aren't usually any problems, but when it is run by the high school wait staff then it is a different story. I usually get takeout from here and on multiple occasions I have had things missing from my carry out order or told X minutes until my order would be ready and waited an additional 15 min before they came out with my order. These are not good qualities when handling takeout orders.

Atmosphere is nice but food is below average. Attempt at Asian fusion but quality does not deliver. Shrimp tempura was just fried shrimp. Fried rice was very salty.

Not impressed, very average, very bland. I would have ordered off the Chinese menu, but there is no English translation. I had the Hot Pot, which was just a normal corn starch thickened broth with some veggies and meat that they through into a pot before serving. In my experience a hot pot is a stew with a rich broth, with meats, vegetables. My mother got a tofu salad, which was just some bagged romaine lettuce topped with some soggy fried tofu. The options for dressing, I'm not kidding, were, ranch, thousand island, french, and honey mustard, SERIOUSLY. Even worse, we could see the waitress emptying out a bottle of Ken's Steakhouse salad dressing for it. I guess they're catering to their clientele, but I'll never be back. Jasmine's, Jade Palace, Oriental House are some better options, to name a few.

It's pretty good. I ordered the Chicken Lo Mein and it did not visually look at all like what you expect Lo Mein to look like but it was really good. I will say the portion size is really small for the price. I'ts overpriced and small portions, so that's not that cool. Otherwise not so bad. Probably one of the better places I've found in Louisville. Still on a search for the real deal Chinese food place, that has normal duck sauce and not packaged stuff. Bogus!

We had an order delivered. Steamed dumplings were excellent. More like a pot sticker than a dumpling, but the dough was perfect and the filling very tasty. We also ordered garlic chicken, beef & broccoli and happy family. All served with brown rice. Each dish had an excellent ratio of beef/chicken/shrimp to vegetables. Each dish had its own unique flavor. Each dish delicious. The food was delivered within 30 minutes and served piping hot. I would absolutely recommend Tea Station. If we were locals this would be out go-to Chinese Restaurant. As good as it gets.

Worst experience ever X2. First had dinner at the restaurant. After them serving us food full or salt and almost throwing up the "very rude lady at front desk" said SORRY having issues with our pans. Very frustrating that it was served. Manager gave a gift card Try again they say. Just got back from our carry out to only find that the only was only half there. Again lady said well we tried. Whoever brought this to keep it alive should have saved thief money. And fire the rude lady up front she can't keep herself organize much less that front of house.

I am a creature of habit, hot and sour soup and Hunan or Kung Pao Chicken. I love all three and the ability to have a 1 minute drive to a great Chinese restaurant. I just ordered for the first time to have delivered to me house and if this goes over well I will probably be eating Tea Station 5 days a week. If you are out in Norton Commons and love some Chinese food you can't go wrong with this selection.

Not too many nice Chinese bistros in Metro Louisville, and this place is nice and clean. Sushi is a nice addition. Try the Angry Dragon roll.

The food is wonderful here. Hot and sour soup is delish. It is rather pricey but going during lunchtime does help with that. The lunch menu is limited but they just expanded their menu to include just about everything so just ask.

  • Nathan D.

When it's the only option I guess this place is alright for bubble tea. The staff didn't really know what their product was when you started asking questions about the teas. Turns out they use Jasmine green tea as a base which can over power the mixed in flavors.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant I like to get to Szechuan spicy beef the chicken in garlic sauce the hot and sour soup twice cooked pork and the moo shu pork and when I want something extra spicy they're willing to make it happen

Food was really good. Service was good. Prices are a little steep. I had the pineapple chicken and brown rice. It was really good. It came in a roasted pineapple shell nice production. My friend had sesame chicken and really enjoyed it. I drank tea and he had water. It came with rice of your choice, but check was $30+ change for Sunday lunch.

Dinner with friends this evening - made a reservation through Open Table and they had a reserved table for us. Standard Chinese menu options but all were delicious and plentiful. Choice or white, brown or fried rice. Service was fast and efficient but we did not feel rushed as we talked and caught up with each other. Prices are reasonable though understandably higher then take out Norton Commons is a great neighbor hood and invites an after dinner stroll on a nice evening

We live in the neighborhood and have dined here three times. As much as a want to love he place, I have been really disappointed in the service the last two times which keeps us from going back. Just slow and inattentive. The food is quite good, with the except of the sushi we had at our last visit. I found it to be not fresh tasting at all which was a big let down. I recommend the spicy beef dish.

  • A.J. P.

Great variety on the menu. The pineapple fried rice is the best dish they serve, also try the Mongolian lamb for a change-up on an old classic. Very flavorful dishes except for the dumplings- they tend to be soggy. Very clean with a sophisticated atmosphere. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Louisville.

Revising my earlier review because of tonight's experience. There are approximately 5 tables outside, 3 of which were in use (including ours). While the other 2 tables got served, our table was ignored. Not an "I'll be with you in a minute", not a head nod of acknowledgement, it's as if we didn't exist. When I walked inside to complain, they brought menus out and left. And we were ignored again. At this point we were waving our arms and trying hard to get their attention. Nothing... I went back inside to complain (after a solid 10 minutes had passed), and the owner came out to take our orders. When I tried to explain our frustration, he cut me off and asked if we were ready to order or not. Horrible, horrible customer service. Mind you, I live in this neighborhood and want our few businesses to succeed, but not when they treat customers this way.

New ownership and the last time we were there they told us that our four year old would have to buy full sized meal, they removed the kid's half sizes! This makes it not so family friendly in a neighborhood restaurant which to me is poor business. We haven't been since and doubt we go back unless they become more family friendly.

My wife and I had lunch here on Saturday for the first time and I have to say we were very impressed. It was a pleasant day so we sat outside. The service was a bit slow but, we ordered and got our meals in a reasonable time. I ordered the Garlic Chicken and my wife ordered the Chicken with vegetables. Both were served with our request for the option of fried rice. The portions were so big that we had to get a take home box. The meals were delicious and we can't wait to go back soon.

Food was pretty good but it was nothing exceptional. I enjoyed my king pao shrimp but I was surprised to find that it was mediocre because it was pretty pricey for a small portion of food. was satisfied with the prompt and attentive service. I recommend the egg rolls and orange chicken.

Food was really good. Will be going back for sure. Portions were generous and service was fast.

The family and I were referred to here for some beef noodle soup. It's essentially the Taiwanese national dish, and I'm a HUGE beef noodle soup snob. It was DELICIOUS and definitively the best in town. The broth was flavorful and the meat was tender. I could tell that the chef took a lot of pride in his recipe as it was one of the best beef noodle soups I've had in years. I will definitely be returning for more... very soon.

As I have become a more seasoned Yelper, I have been very careful to avoid negative reviews of locally owned businesses. I generally will not say it rather than write a bad one. So, this is based on multiple visits over several years. The food and service has continuously gone down hill over the past year or two. Last night was my last hope for this place, and now I give up... I will not be going back. The service was quite poor. The family that owns the place was sitting at another table working on their financial statements instead of guiding our inexperienced waiter. The moo goo gai pan was under-cooked and probably not safe to eat. The Mongolian beef lacked any flavor and the beef pieces were just small shreds. The wine by the glass was poured short. It gets two stars rather than 1 because the sizzling rice soup for two was adequate and because Louisville has so few Cantonese American table service restaurants. The two points, however, do not make up for several visits filled with decreasing quality of food and service -- and it especially doesn't make up for under-cooked chicken. Sigh

If you're looking for a small, clean and intimate restaurant setting with a pretty good-sized authentic Chinese menu. You've found the right place. The lo-mein was your typical lo mein.. Sauce needed more flavor in my opinion.. However the general tso dish is always a good pick. :) not a place I'd go to regularly but still a good place to alternate your other Asian go-to spots. They do take reservations.

Best and most affordable Chinese in Louisville. Owners are very nice and they now deliver (which I don't know why more Chinese restaurants don't deliver)

My wife and I had dinner at the Tea Station Bistro last night. We were both impressed. Too many Chinese restaurants have mediocre food these days but that wasn't the case at the Tea Station Bistro. I am a big time Hot & Sour soup fan and their's was excellent. Very flavorful with just the right amount of bite. We both ordered egg rolls. The Tea Station Bistro's are more like spring rolls than egg rolls. They were very good and not greasy at all. They are served with traditional hot mustard sauce and another red sauce that was very good, not hot, and a little sweet. I ordered their nightly special, House Pad Thai while my wife ordered Lemon Chicken. My server (on his 1st day) made sure to ask me just how hot & spicy I wanted my dish. Since I like spicy foods I ordered it 4 out of 5 of their heat levels. It was just right. My Pad Thai had small pieces of chicken, beef and shrimp. It was very flavorful and the portion was so large that I could only eat 1/2 of it. The remainder made for a very enjoyable lunch today. The same was true for my wife's Lemon Chicken. It was served with white rice had just a hint of lemon tartness. She enjoyed it thoroughly. I can report that we have found a new go to spot for Chinese food. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff (both owners checked on us) and really good food. We'll definitely go back again soon.

Food is good, but service is often poor. We get take out more than eating in and it is usually ready on time.

2nd visit was today, again for Sunday lunch. Phoenix soup is delicious. The menu says it's for 2, but you could easily stretch it to feed 3-4 people. It's a light and savory broth with tender chicken, shrimp, and vegetables (carrots, broccoli, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts). This time I got Hunan Chicken for my entree. I am a fan! Good mix of chicken and vegetables in a zesty brown sauce. Avoid the hot peppers if you don't want to spend the rest of your meal cooling your tongue with gulps of ice water. By special request I checked the tea menu this time. Lots of hot tea and a good deal of bubble tea will quell any thirst you might have at the Tea Station. Next time I will try not to overdo it on soup and entrees so I can give the bubble teas a try!

My wife and I have been coming here for years and it was always great, over the past 6m the quality has went downhill the servers are rude and preoccupied. The wonton soup was greasy and tasteless, the chef special orange chicken was over cooked and rubbery and tasted like burnt oranges. Please avoid and try a panda china meal from you grocers freezer.

I will not be going back. The wait staff are rude. My order was for a spicy dish and I asked for less spice but it was so spicy I couldn't even eat it. My daughters beef and broccoli was good but does not make up for the VERY STRANGE STAFF! When we were seated the hostess/waitress stopped at another single diner's table and reached across him and grabbed his menu as she was taking us to our table. She sat us at a booth and handed us the one menu she had just taken from the other diner. My daughter and I just looked at eachother like, What just happened?!" The waitress then asked us what we wanted to order. We told her that we would need a few minutes to look over the menu which she seemed put out about and walked away. This experience continued on in the same weird way so no need to explain more. I just won't go back.

Having moved to Kentucky from Southern California we sought out for a place that had boba (pearl tea) and found this place. This small cafe is really clean and has a good atmosphere, but we were really disappointed with the poor service and over priced pseudo chinese food. The server who, was an older Chinese woman, was really short with us and when I asked her a question about their boba she looked at me as if I was dumb for asking. Interestingly we were the only asian costumers in the restaurant and it seemed like she was MUCH more polite to the other caucasian customers. Odd, but I don't care enough to come up with possible reasons for that. Next time I'll settle with just making boba at home and going to PF Chang's for overpriced "fusion" chinese food especially since I'll probably get much better service there anyways.

  • Kuuipo B.

In Calif. there's a Tea Station as well. I thought they were part of the same company. Although the boba was good, it is not something to where I may necessarily make the one hour drive for unless I just happen to be in the area. We were only there for the boba. I may have to try the food next time and modify my rating.

Best Chinese restaurant I have been to in a long time. Everything is fresh and delicious.

My husband and I eat here regularly...usually once a week! Regarding the comments about the staff, they do not go out of their way to be overly nice to you, but they have never been rude to us. We like to recommend the pineapple chicken, very delicious. Plus it is nice to go there in the spring and summer and sit outside with our dog. Definitely a must try.

This place is really great, good service, food is fresh and delicious plus tasteful a very friendly and attentive waitress . Went to try some different for my Birthday and It was phenomenal. I order "lemon chicken" fabulous, MOST going back.

I actually came to this place just for the boba. I wanted to have my mom try it, since she's never had boba before. She ordered the strawberry milk tea, and I had the almond milk tea. Both were quite good, but the texture/taste of tapioca balls was not the best. Besides the boba, we ordered a chicken dish, which was quite tasty. Overall, the service, atmosphere, and quality were very good.

  • Kris K.

Very fast and friendly service. Food arrived within five minutes of being seated. Overall the food was average. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. My wife and I both had a chicken dish. Her almond chicken was a bit bland, the chicken in my Gen Tso's was a bit fatty, not solid chicken chunks. Not bad, just not great or much above average

MR says ... best pearl tea drink in the city :) MRS says ... we searched for this place after someone told us about their pearl tea. for those who don't know what this pearl tea drink here's a wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bu… to-go pearl tea drink tastes better than dine-in. i don't know why but quality is better when the pearl tea drink is in the cup with plastic cellophane. after many trips to this restaurant just for pearl tea drinks (main reason why we're giving this 4stars), we tried their food. surprisingly their sushi wasn't that bad. it was actually fresh and nicely presented. for a chinese restaurant ~ we're impressed. we had some duck, beef brisket, and chicken. we love the chicken. it was like filipino style chicken adobo. very tasty. perfect over rice. then of course we had pearl tea drink. this chinese restaurant specializes in taiwanese cuisine. food is ok. i like spicy food so im selective on what to eat. portion may not be as generous but for the price its ok. i invite you to try their pearl tea drink (slush or not) especially this summer months. really addictive and cool.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
