Came here tonight with my in laws and husband. We are in visiting and had a large party. First let me say, the service was FANTASTIC. They were so helpful and attentive. They didn't get overwhelmed once and made us feel very comfortable. There was a huge selection of food, all was delicious. My husband especially enjoyed the tater tot casserole. They had ALL you can eat crab legs and we did just that!! There was no shortage of crab legs! My husband is an active duty marine and from prestonsburg originally. We made a few jokes with the manager and let him know we were in town visiting. He was WONDERFUL!!! He thanked my husband for his service and brought us a big chocolate dessert. He brought another one for my husbands papaws birthday as well. He even gave us a to go box of goodies also! He was hands down the most professional, kind and respectful manager I've ever encountered. I was so pleasantly surprised. Would absolutely recommend, would and will return every time we return to Kentucky. Can not comment enough about the wonderful customer service and great food we received here at shoneys. Felt like we were in the kitchen at our mamaws house! Definitely check it out!

Almost every time we are in Pikeville we would go to Shoney's before heading back home, often we would be there for breakfast and lunch with just me and my mother. The waitresses that checked us in for the tables are always friendly, the waitresses that orders our foods is also very friendly and understanding. The waitresses would often come to us to make sure that everything is all well and to see if we need anything such as refills or to order something else such as either other meal or deserts. We would often order the bar (or some say it buffet) because so that it allows us to choose what exactly we would like to eat, most of the times the foods on the bar is delicious although almost every seafood they serve on the bar isn't so delicious but maybe it's just me that I am not exactly a fan of seafood and I always love their mac 'n cheese because it is very creamy which is just the way I like my mac 'n cheese to be. I must admit that not every meats that they serve on the bar is great, although that is minor problem because they have other delicious meats to make up for it and the only thing that I dislike the most from this place is their watered down drinks but again I almost never drink when I eat so it's fine with me. My favorite time of the day for Shoney's is the breakfast, you must go there for the breakfast because they have amazingly delicious breakfast to choose such as gravy, biscuits, bacon, sausages, pancakes, waffles, hams and more but for me they got me at gravy!

Initially it looked okay. I liked the variety of food options, but the quality of food was not so great. The fruit was not very fresh and had been sitting out there for a while. I liked the bacon though. Also, the buffet line was really congested, so maybe they could have signs at least to give guidance of where to start. the bathrooms and near the register smelled like deification. I don't know what was wrong, but the scent was sickening. Finally, I think they should inform customers that when they get water it is bottled, because you have to probably pay for the bottled water as opposed to the water that you get in a glass, and I only ordered the water to sip on before I got my juice.

My colleagues and I stopped here on our way to Abingdon, VA. The place was fairly clean and the service we received was very good considering we were a group of twenty. However, I noticed that there were not very many customers and I soon found out why. To make things easier, we all got the breakfast buffet that they had available at the time. The food was okay, but it was nothing special at all. The french toast was kind of rubbery and difficult to eat and there was nothing that particularly stood out to me. I think this could be remedied by a more consistent rotation of the buffet items. With so many waitresses attending our group, the buffet suffered from insufficient attention and it was noticeable amongst our group. I have eaten at a Shoney's before in Ohio and Tennessee and both were very good. I really hope to see this establishment fix a few of these issues in case we come back through. It would be a great accomplishment for them to boost their overall quality.

I went to this place for a break fast with other 20 colleagues. At first sight, it seems good place because it was Buffett style and there were arduous choices of food. However, it was not good. Some fruits went bad and the restroom was horrible. It smelled really bad like corrupted chemicals that my appetite disappeared. I do not recommend this place until problems gets fixed. Only one nice thing is that it's big enough for about over 50 people.

Shoney's always has a good variety, but they always lack in the quality aspect. The chicken was good and the french toast sticks were excellent, but the strawberries were rotten and had mold. The waitresses were nice, but timid and didn't really know how to handle a large group atmosphere. Maybe with a little work Shoneys can be up to par like it use to be. It is sad to see such a great establishment dwindle over the years.
