We've only gone to Shandies a few times. The food is always good. The flavors are interesting and unexpected. However, the service is indifferent and scatterbrained. The servers are nice enough, but they always seem to forget parts of your order (like side-dishes) or silverware. Or if you order a second cocktail, they forget to bring it to you, despite reminders. There seems to be a lot of "dead time" in which you don't see the server. Overall, it's not a terrible place, but we probably won't go back.

This place was fantastic! The hours were listed differently online so by the time we got there, they were getting ready to close. However when we told them of the discrepancy they were amazingly accommodating. I ordered fried green tomatoes and fell in love! They also have this chutney that's too die for! Plus their service (and prices) is miles better than Doe's.

Two visits on Sundays in the past 3 weeks. Each time food was good, but service was terribly slow and disorganized. Neither time were they what you would call busy, 3 servers and no more than 25 guests? Had a brunch out, but no one was eating it. $18 pp is pretty strong for the options offered. I might be a buyer at $12 plus drinks. Certainly would speed things up. I'm trying to be a loyal patron. Like the people and the place.

Oh my gosh, so good! We were just passing through, glad we stopped! Such an awesome cute area too. Will definitely be back of we are in the area again! Love the nacho type item they gave as an appetizer. I ordered the BLT & my boyfriend ordered the Americana burger. Both really really good. We will so be back. :)

I wish I could tell you about the food but we didn't get that far. We were in Paducah for the day and wanted to eat somewhere downtown. Shandie's seemed to be the only place open on Sunday so we decided on it. When we arrived, it took far too long to set up a table for 5 people and the man doing it seemed reluctant. We were finally seated and had at least 4 servers walk past our table and never acknowledged us. By the way, they were not visibly busy. My sister in law finally grabbed the guy that set up our table and asked if we had a server or if someone could take our drink orders. He proceeded to shrug and say "we're on a wait." Ummmmmm okay, cool, a little bit of communication when we first arrived would have been great. We then got up to leave without anyone apologizing. I can understand being swamped, but a little bit of customer service goes a long way. Not sure if I'll ever be back in Paducah, but I most definitely will not be back to Shandie's.

This place is nestled among other family-owned restaurants in the restored historic market square area of downtown Paducah. The atmosphere is nice - dark wood and hanging stained glass. The entrees were a little pricey for lunch, but we were able to find a burger and sautéed vegetable plate (with couscous) each for under $10. The burger was tasty, but the fries with it were cold. The vegetables were a tad oily, but flavorful and the couscous added a nice touch. Service was friendly and prompt. If we were to be in town again we'd try another place in the same area, but if we were local we might give this place another shot...or two!

I was in town visiting friends who recently moved to Paducah. The friends told me they had gotten subpar service most times they've eaten at Shandys but continue to go back because the food is great. I loved the atmosphere and the unique menu. We arrived before 9pm and our server was pressuring us to order. We hadn't even looked at the menu and she came over 3 times, the last time passive aggressively suggesting we only had a certain amount of time left. I was done with my meal but my friend wasn't and she asked if we needed boxes and when he said no, that he was taking his time enjoying his meal, she said "oh that's fine, yall got 30 minutes left". We then felt rushed to finish out meal. I work in the food service industry and I find that very unacceptable. They were open till 11, and it wasn't even 10 yet!! Also while eating, another employee was cleaning a table behind us and decided to chime in on our conversation that was actually very sensitive and personal. Those two things pretty much ruined the experience for me. The damn delicious Gouda Mac and cheese almost made up for it though, otherwise would give less stars. I know people all have flaws and are prone to giving poor service st times. I rarely complain bc I am a server myself, but given my friends had already had several poor customer service experiences there, it's hard for me to not see it as a reflection of the business, not just an isolated experience. I will give it another chance though, because of the food.

Me and few of my steamers (co-workers) because it was pretty close to our boat. Well the interior is pretty nice and the waitress seem pretty friendly. She offered us the wontons and dip for free so we could try it out now I don't know a lot of places to do that but sure will take it. Well the wontons were decent but they looked like pork rynes almost from Memphis. My burger I ordered was pretty decent but the bread was really good being it came from a bakery that the owners own. Overall I may try them out if given the chance to...

We had a great lunch! Good vegetarian options (and lots of bacon for the omnivores!). I had a sautéed veggie plate and some of the pickled fried green tomatoes - delicious! Great service and a fun story about Stella the ghost!

We enjoyed lunch here. Great atmosphere, good service, good food. I had a spinach salad that had goat cheese and pecans with a hot bacon vinaigrette dressing, which is made there. My husband enjoyed the meatloaf which came with pub fries and ketchup that they make in their kitchen. Good place to stop and wander through the quaint downtown area.

Been back twice since the original post. I absolutely love their bacon caesar salad with chicken. It is, by far, the BEST salad I have ever had! When friends come into town, this is where we go.

Made a stop on the way from St. Louis to Nashville. Went here upon recommendation by waitresses (and local diners) at Doe's down the street, since we had kids and were looking for a more extensive menu than Doe's has at dinner. I enjoyed the relaxing environment (kind of 90s chic with black tablecloths and glass tabletops) and the special "dark shandy" (made with the oh-so exotic Amberbock). The hostess and waitresses were nice. My son threw up because of car sickness and they didn't blink (the waitress said she had a 3 year old). We were still charged for his meal though. I had the burger with cheddar and "spiced bacon." The pickle on the side was like a bread n butter pickle made from a small tomato (I think). Interesting. The fries on the kids meal appeared to be typical dry steak fries, such as from sysco. The small stylish salt shaker had a hard time releasing the salt (sea salt) but after several hard shakes the salted fries were more edible. This was on a Sunday in the afternoon, so the unusualy time probably explains any negative aspect.

Looked like a cute place but not that great. Soup came out after sandwich. French dip didn't have much meat and that was dry. Would not come back.

This stop was pretty far from the freeway, but worth every penny. I ordered a vegetable plate on cous cous, that was amazing. My husband said he hadn't had such a tasty burger in a while. Highly recommend. The service was great. The place was lovely too, with many stained glass pieces and lovely window sitting. Amazing dinner, so tasty!

The meatloaf green beans and Mac was all very uniquely flavored. Everything on the menu is not exactly what you expect, it's got a nice little twist. A must eat while in Paducah .

This was the best BLT I've ever had and the prices here were great.

We had a terrible dining experience at this restaurant,I will definetly not return. The food is not good at all,it was better when it used to be CC Cohens. Every dish we ordered (around 8 varieties) was not what we expected for example the 'Indian samosas' were not Indian at all..it had Chinese seasoning (barely) & it was the shape of a spring roll. What a disgrace! My wife stated it was all bland & a huge waste of $. Would not recommend this place at all. We did not get silverware on our table until much later also. There are better restaurants in PAD I'd much rather spend my $ at.

My husband and I dined here a week ago. We loved the food, had very good attentive service and the price was very reasonable for the quality. I know I had the fish and chips, not greasy, delicious and properly cooked. My husband had a chicken dish and he liked his food too.

The food was just OK. I had the French onion soup. It was way too salty and not to my liking. The crab ragoon dip was good but better the next day after it had time to chill and the flavors to blend better. Probably will not return.

Don't know about these other reviews, but every time I have been here it has been a wonderful experience! Food is always flavorful, and waitstaff is attentive to our needs. Don't forget to try their Sunday brunch! Best in the area!

Started off with a salad with hot bacon vinaigrette dressing. Excellent. My wife had the meatloaf which had great flavor. I had the maple pecan chicken which I would highly recommend. We would definitely come back here next time we are in Paducah.

This was one of the most dishonest and offensive dining experiences I've ever had. If I could give a negative star I would. (And FYI I have worked as a restaurant server for over 5 years.) Where do I begin? .... We were visiting Kentucky Lake for Labor Day weekend from St. Louis. It was Sunday night and nothing was really going on at the lake so we figured we try checking out Paducah in hopes for some good eats and a fun country atmosphere. Well Paducah was a COMPLETE bust. It was a ghost town. EVERYTHING was closed on their famed river front downtown, which was a complete surprise since the following day was a holiday. What a shame. The only place that was open for us was Shandies, so in we walked.... It was empty, but a nice looking establishment with a southern/pub kind of vibe. Right off the bat our server knew nothing about their seasonal or craft beer selection and had to ask the bartender. No biggie at this point. When she came back to take our order she told us that 5 or 6 of (their most popular) dishes were sold out, which two of us wanted. Ok....so we reordered and settled for two other dishes, which was their Pecan Encrusted Chicken and their Shrimp Scampi w/ Garlic Pesto Angel Hair. (Still feeling hopeful and optimistic of our experience at this point). So here's where it gets BAD: when our meals are served, I get 2 grilled chicken breasts with NO pecans and NO crust on it, just some sort of yucky looking gray/greenish sauce on it with some sort of black mystery vegetable topped on it. (Pic is posted of this) EVEN WORSE: My girlfriend's Pesto Angel Hair Pasta not only didn't have ANY pesto sauce on it, but it didn't have ANY sauce on it! NONE! ZIP! ZILCH! They served her a dish with bare pasta in cooking oil. THATS IT! Wow. AND WE ARENT EVEN TO THE WORST PART YET. We then call our server back over to question her on what she just (nonchalantly) dropped off to our table, she proceeds to tell me that I DID receive their Pecan Encrusted Chicken. I said "I don't see any pecans and there's no crust, it's grilled chicken with a glazed sauce on it." She says "yeah there should be pecans in there". I said "well there isn't?". She then apologizes and says "yeah I told you we were out of a lot of items, I'll ask the cooks about it". Then when we question her about the sauceless pasta, she says "yeah we are also out of pesto so they tried to do their best with it". **WOW**. She also says "they tried to season it as best as they could". I was very upset at this point at the deceit and sneakiness and said, "no there is nothing in this pasta, no sauce no seasoning, just oil". My girlfriend plays nice guy and says "that's okay it would be fine if they would maybe have substituted it with some Alfredo sauce or something like that." Our server then changes her story and says "oh yeah they did add Alfredo sauce to it, it's in there". At this point I am completely appalled that our server is not only lying to us, but doing a horrible job at it while changing her story and playing us for stupid. She finally gives in and says "okay I'll go ask the cooks to see if they have some Alfredo sauce for you." I'm in shock at this point at what just happened. After simmering for a minute I got up to ask another server for the manager. The manager then comes back with our server who has the Alfredo sauce. I'm hoping to get some honest answers from him, but he then proceeds to tell me the same exact thing about my mystery chicken dish!!! "Yeah sir that's the Pecan Encrusted Chicken, there should be pecans in there". I said "it is???", and lower my head down to the plate so close my nose could touch the food, searching for a single pecan. After doing that he says, "you know what, I'm sorry, let me go to the back and start yelling at those guys, I'll be right back." **DOUBLE WOW!!** So at this point, we now know there's no hope to salvage this. Our server is a liar, the manager is a liar, and the cooks are liars (through what they served us). At the VERY LEAST, I was expecting the manager to return to our table with an explanation for everything that just transpired. BUT NO, he doesn't even have the balls to come back and face us. He sends our server back to simply tell us our two meals are being comped. THATS IT. What a joke of a manager. Any decent manager worth a lick would not only have comped our ENTIRE meal for the dishonesty, lies, and making us eat food we didn't order....but would have been begging us to come back for another free meal to give them another chance to get it right. Did they do that?? NOPE Our check was still $72, for my parents meals, a couple of drinks, and a dessert that my father ordered. They charged us for a freakin dessert people!! A free dessert is ALWAYS standard to receive when an order is messed up! And they didn't just mess this one up, they obliterated it with dishonesty and not giving us the option to pick something else. WOW. WOW. WOW. WOW. I hope the owner reads this.

My daughter & I went out for a night on the town. The service was good, the atmosphere was good, and the food was excellent. After we ordered there was some bread that came out, pretty underwhelming. We had the Mac & Cheese side as an appetizer, because that's what you do when you're out with a 6 year old. She had the corn dog and I had the meatloaf sandwich. YUM! I'd been before and I knew the meatloaf sandwich was going to be great. It was nice to see an actual children's menu at a nicer spot!

only 5pm and bartender was yelling trashy things like "i'm gonna kick you in yer head" to the one other customer there. server laid out my utensils by touching all the surfaces you put in your mouth with her nasty, brown/discolored, long fingernails. chicken in my dish was cold and still pink. i tried to tell the server when she asked if i wanted a box but she walked away while i was talking. she didn't even bother to ask me if the dish i had only taken ONE bite out of was ok. with no other customers (other than the guy drinking at the bar) i should've known better.
