Went for their $7.50 lunch buffet - I've had better. The meat selection was pretty weak (only three options), and it wasn't very good. There was some unidentified chopped meat which was weird. Their hot sauce was pretty good - make sure to try that. The salad bar was okay - their bacon is totally legit. Cornbread was really yummy, and other sides were fairly good. I liked their Burgoo! Three different desserts - which left me happy.

Does not qualify as BBQ. might be better described as meat like substance with bad sauce.

Let me lead this off by saying that I believe the best burgoo that was ever cooked in Owensboro was at the late Shady Rest on Hwy. 60. I don't think anyone can measure up to that. Now, Ole South makes a great run at it. Far superior to the burgoo of Old Hickory and in a completely different class than the sweet, chunky mess that is Moonlight. I give Ole South five stars because of their burgoo, because it's the best out there now. I don't really care about anything else they have to offer. I will mention that the mutton and pork that I have had there in the past was very good and well deserving of a try (as long as you get a gallon of burgoo). To really get the desired effect from Ole South, don't bother dining in, just grab your food and go.

Upon first site coming in, atmosphere is just about right for a bbq place. Although very slight smoke or bbq scent in air. Seating is find a table yourself which is fine by me. Waitress quickly asked and wanted me to get buffett. I went first to see and bbq looked not so appealing. They did say they had great fried chicken. Not sure how a bbq place should have fried chicken as a featured item. I settled on pulled pork and baked beans. Baked beans we're old and gritty. Bun on sandwich was nice. Pulled pork was a different story. Fatty, big pieces, zero smoke flavor. Almost not edible. I'd not return. Or recommend this place as a bbq joint.

Greg and his staff work hard to make sure you are happy and the food is great. We've used their catering service at work over a dozen times and they always have the food to us on time, hot, and tasty as promised. I highly recommend them for any catering you or your company may need. Thanks Greg! Duke

My family and I visited Old time BBQ last Friday evening for dinner. Folks, this is not bbq. We all tried the buffet and were disappointed by the quality of the food and limited choices. Surprisingly, the pulled pork and mutton was not fresh and lacked flavor. Also, there were no other meat choices which was disappointing. The desserts had been left out too long and my fountain drink was flat. The price per person was much too high for the poor quality. The servers were really just bus staff and took very little interest in us. We won't be back.

WOW!!! This place is definitely the hidden gem in Owensboro, KY. I ate at all the BBQ places and I would rank this number 1, Old Hickory 2 and Moonlight dead last very unimpressed with moonlight. I really did love old Hickory also but the breakfast and breakfast buffet on Friday and Saturdays is top notch. I don't know how they do it for $6.99 ya think they would go broke but it was full and always fresh food coming up. 5 stars from me. I think they should get there yelp page with more info and pictures and get a website. I didn't find this until my last day of 9 days and I am bummed I didn't find it earlier.

This is one of my favorite bbq joint in Owensboro. My family and I used to come here on Sunday for Brunch. The mutton is awesome!
