Impressive restaurant in a newer hotel. I stopped in for a quick bite and stayed a while. The bartender and his side kick Jose were hilarious. I had a wonderful glass of Hudson with bourbon ice (the large ball of ice instead of cubes). The pour was generous but not ridiculous. The bartender introduced me to their craft cocktail menu which I will have to try out next year. I ordered a sashimi plate and a rainbow roll and both were fantastic. The plating was nice and simple. Great place! I will stop again when I'm back in town!

I like this place. Went on a Wednesday and they had live music. Ordered the beef and ginger plate which is really just a appetizer along with the angry eel and firecracker sushi rolls and was very satisfied. The restaurant is connected to the Hampton hotel and was an easy choice to go back to the next night because of the rain. The waitress recommended the blackened trout but she shouldn't have. It was thin not spicy enough and had bones. I should have gone with the sea bass. I was watching some March Madness on the TV after I got up from the table and was chatting with the owner. He comped me a beer which I took as a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. I wasn't entirely happy with the trout but it was presented well. My friend was happy with the crab cakes. The service was good both nights which seemed an issue for some reviewers Overall the place has a nice atmosphere the food is well presented a good drink menu.

I visited Lure late on a Sunday evening after a busy weekend. There had been a big air show. The service was a little slow but very friendly and helpful. They were apologetic because they were sold out of a lot of items. I ordered the wild caught blackened catfish. It was served with stewed tomatoes and okra and grits. The catfish was fiery and plentiful. Not quite crisp enough. The tomatoes and okra were great. Crisp and flavorful. Not at all slimy. Grits were creamy and well prepared. There was an extensive wine list. I chose a local IPA. It was nice and hoppy. I liked the local flair. My meal was good, not quite great. Service was good. I would eat here again.

My husband was very resistant to trying The Lure because we both had heard negative comments about the service. However I managed to get him there for our anniversary dinner and we both enjoyed it very much. Since then we have been going to Sunday brunches and enjoying live music on the patio as well as an occasional dinner. Good food, an amazing bar and fun. I highly recommend it very much.

Ben had me at chocolate martini... Stayed at the Waterfront Hampton Inn and so of course decided to give the Lure a try. Boy was it the best decision. Exceptionally phenomenal selection of appetizers to top shelf liqueurs, entrees, and desserts. Does the martini picture not speak for itself? A few of the things I had ordered: - stuffed shrimp - calamari - salmon sushi roll - whisky sour - chocolate martini What I enjoyed about the Lure were the unique flavors and quality of detail. I most enjoyed the stuffed shrimp with its lemon whipped cream. They do a very nice job in packing those unique flavors and present a pretty display. Not only was the food superior, but service was immaculate. Ben, the owner was there and very personable. Although a chocolate martini was not on the menu, he whipped up a delectable concoction that was better than anything I could have asked for. This is by far one of my new favorites in Owensborough! Thank you Ben! Time to take off!

What a gem. Elegant, modern atmosphere, personal sincere service, brunch buffet with a creative selection, and omelette made to order by the sous chef. The view of the river promenade makes the atmosphere even more inviting. A local recommended it and I certainly see why. Owensboro has a beautiful, newly renovated riverfront for which they should be proud.

I'm not super impressed. I ordered from here twice while staying in the Hampton Inn and both times it was just ok. Had a crab cake on top of a salad and the crab cake was so small and not the best I've had. Fried green tomatoes were yummy but other than that nothing else I've ordered was amazing. Very cool interior but I wish the food was better.

I eat here every time I'm in town. Excellent food and excellent service. Every time! Now I'm writing an extra sentence so it becomes a review instead of a tip!

Wow, stopped in to Lure for a drink after a long family Christmas! Had excellent service, very kind and helpful in helping to explore my palate. Cool professional atmosphere, beautiful decor! Will comment more if we eat dinner!

This is an excellent restaurant. You're going to pay more, but you're paying for a dining experience. The owner and staff pay very close attention to detail and if you like talking food you will get a lot out of this place. The soups and salads are marvelous...the entrees are generous and combine very creative flavors and fresh ingredients. I fear that a lot of the negative comments spring from a "I didn't expect this" place rather than actual grievances about the food or atmosphere. The bar staff is passionate about bourbon, but you can also order very sophisticated mixed drinks. This is an "event" type restaurant that also treats large groups VERY well.

As a business traveler I stay in a lot of Hampton Inns. None of them have had a restaurant of this caliber attached. Lure is a very good restaurant and was a delightful surprise for my coworker and me. The lobster bisque as fantastic with rich flavor. So rich in fact, that I had a hard time finishing even half of my salmon caesar salad! More's the pity because the salmon was perfectly done. So good! And the caesar salad was done with charred romaine which was new to me but a very nice touch. Our server was friendly and attentive. Wish we'd had room for the delicious looking desserts. The bar was impressive but I was not drinking that night. I've got plenty of reasons to return to this wonderful place and I hope I get to visit Owensboro so I can do just that! Oh...and there is NOTHING wrong with the prices here. It's a lot higher caliber than anything else I experienced during my stay and I thought the price point was fine for the food and atmosphere.

Went on a Friday night, took server 20 minutes to return and inform me bottle of wine ordered was not available, servers seemed untrained, crab legs were good, baked potato half cooked, would not recommend until they get the kinks out

Had an early dinner at 4pm and it was awful! Everything was bland. Catfish and fries WAY over fried. Mac n cheese had no salt or flavor. Hot Brown had gristle in the meat and no taste. Chicken tenders were also way over fried. Veggies tasted like they had been sitting out over night. The pretzel app was good. The Moscow Mule was very good. Those two things and our awesome waitress, Jessica, were the only saving graces. She took one dish off the check and discounted another. Apparently, they were having shift changes and problems with new ppl not knowing the dishes. MIGHT give it another try in the future solely because of the good service.

This is solidly good food, but may be a tad overpriced for what you get. The sushi is fine--not amazing, not bad. The crab cake appetizer is very good.

Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE. Worse service I've EVER gotten at a restaurant...and don't get me wrong, I don't complain about restaurant service, ever...until now. Ordered my food. Got my steak first (before the salad)...weird, but not too big of deal, but...when I asked for my salad they said Oh yeah...I'll go get it right now. While I was waiting, I was going to eat my steak, but no steak knife. Asked for a steak knife, waited about 5 minutes, nothing. So I ate it with a butter knife (I was pretty hungry). Asked for my salad AGAIN...nothing. Asked AGAIN...got it! BUT, it was the wrong salad, surprise! Oh, and they took my napkin at one point...had to go stand in front of the kitchen for a few minutes before anyone asked if i needed anything. Moral of the story...save your money...don't bother. Go to Bill's Restaurant on Frederica St, you won't be disappointed there, exact opposite of Lure.

The food is really incredible but the service is slow and the staff is very inattentive. If the service was improved this would be a great place. On this visit, the bar drinks arrived before the water. We ordered appetizers and the server cleared those plates and we finally had to tell her that we were ready to order. The only thing that came promptly was the check. She rang two of the checks then just placed her tablet on the table and walked away. Everything we ordered was amazing. I had the Crab & Avocado Salad. It was light, fresh and tasty. It doesn't feel like anyone is happy to help you, like we've inconvenienced them by coming here.

The Lure has all the classiness and a similar price point to Famous Bistro but with a creative flair for seafood fusion with Southern comfort food. This is the place to go if you are a tourist in Owensboro and want to try a classic Kentucky Hot Brown turkey sandwich, which my friends and I ordered along with the daily quiche (of more than one quiche variety offered), lobster bisque, and the gleefully experimental #ChickenFriedSushiNWaffles. Kentuckians are river hobbits at heart. We like our creature comforts and our bluegrass music and could easily turn eleventy-one without venturing anywhere that makes it impossible to find a decent glass of bourbon or some chopped mutton. Yet, sometimes we dream of more. We like the good things in life like a lobster bisque or some sushi. If you are in town for the River of (river hobbit) Music Party and stay at the Hampton Inn downtown, you are are already having our state's equivalent of a stay at Rivendell and should top it off with dinner at The Lure. What food lore Kentucky has is of barbecued mutton, bourbon, classic European home cooking, southern grits, and the hot brown turkey sandwich famously found in Louisville's . The Lure's Hot Brown was perfect. I didn't think I liked them despite being a native but it's hot, mouthwateringly fluid, and cheesy with just a hint of spicyness. I didn't try the quiche but know the owner has been experimenting with them and has likely perfected quiches as well. Ben had an obsession with quiches for a while. Next time I go I need to order a lobster tail, because the lobster pieces in my cup of lobster bisque were the best prepared lobster I have ever tasted. We are really lucky to have lobster of this caliber in our landlocked community. Someone is doing something right. #ChickenFriedSushiNWaffles. Remember that hashtag. Should this be? The first rule of sushi is that you don't put pork products into it... unless you are Hawaiian and familiar with Spam Musubi. Adding copious amounts of sugar to the soy sauce balances the flavors in the thing and makes it quite good. Ben's genius in this KY fusion creation is adding maple syrup to the soy sauce and using waffle batter as tempura for giant crunchy waffle maki rolls. DO NOT, however, expect chicken. There is a small piece of white tuna at the center of a mostly bacon roll such that the fish takes a backseat to the maple and bacon. Tuna is the chicken of the sea, ya dig? If you do, tweet the hashtag and tell your friends. I like using copious emoji when discussing chicken fried sushi and WAFFLES, but you need to spell #ChickenFriedSushiNWaffles correctly for conversations to aggregate on Twitter and Facebook. There are several other sushi offerings on the menu, some traditional and some fusion. By fusion I mean they incorporate bacon and lobster not typically found in traditional Japanese sushi rolls, though they are prepared with great skill and gourmet presentation. As a sushi snob who spent a year in Japan and had sushi at the Tsukiji fish market, I feel a need to set your expectations for The Lure realistically to FUN. If you want authentic Japanese sushi, go to Fuji of Japan next door to the Book & Music Exchange on Frederica. They'll pack you a bento box lunch or a nice bowl of donburi. If you want a fun experiment to write home about and are willing to admit you are in KENTUCKY and are eating BACON on your river hobbit sushi, go to The Lure for #ChickenFriedSushiNWaffles and enjoy the bluegrass music playing over the house sound system as you savor your maple soy sauce you'll want to drown the bacon centers in from the accompanying sauce decanter. #ChickenFriedSushiNWaffles ! ! ! I also was impressed by the seaweed salad that came with my order of marlin sashimi. I wish I could get seaweed salad all by itself as a side or appetizer. Don't think nori here; it's not the dark green seaweed they wrap sushi rolls in but rather fresh light green sweet and saline salty seaweed that you get in Japanese restaurants if you order seaweed alone as a salad and not sushi. I highly recommend it. I haven't tried the bar yet but I hear The Lure is also a great place for a fine glass of Kentucky bourbon. There is a daily happy hour. There are also bottled Rooibee flavored teas here like at The Creme, but with a cup of ice and without being a distraction from coffee. This sort of drink is a second order for me at The Creme but a first one at The Lure where watermelon mint rooibos iced tea was the perfect accompaniment to waffle sushi and lobster bisque. The ambience is very classy with chandeliers of varied sizes (look up!) and a soft monochromatic color that lends some urban chic. When I say the noise level is average I mean there is house music playing bluegrass usually. There is a bar in the center but no TV and music volume is at an acceptable level not to drown out conversations. Let's make The Lure a Kentucky river hobbit institution!

Atmosphere was cool, decor modern, service was slightly below par. Super loud dining room, and table settings were more about flair than function. Plate chargers and napkin rings that were removed the second we sat down. White wine container was plastic and took up space that we didn't have at a 4 person table- and didn't chill the wine. Seafood was plated well and flavors were good. Portion size was larger than expected, but so was the price.

Nice atmosphere, mediocre food, mediocre service, TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Two rolls for 3 people, "nacho" appetizer with shredded wilted lettuce from a bag, over-cooked zero-flavor tenderloin, and over-cooked pasta. Five minutes after paying the bill, the owner walks over and says: "This is my least favorite thing to do, but we have our next reservation waiting for this table, blah blah blah." Horrified and shocked as we walked out I noticed 3 empty tables in the restaurant and only one party waiting at the door. Seriously, your food isn't gourmet, so you probably shouldn't kick patrons out the door. We had only been there for a little over an hour so it seems management is booking the reservations too close together. You can get better service and food at some of the chains around town. So disappointed!

This new restaurant is a must-try. Had lunch with a couple of friends here recently, and could not have had a better experience! The sirloin was possibly the best steak I've ever had. And the salmon nigiri was incredibly fresh. It was also not as pricy as was feared. You could tell that this restaurant could be a casual lunch spot, and at the same time a fine dinner experience. Definitely recommend!

Great location right on the river. The atmosphere was nice. Hope the patio in the summer ends up being equally as nice. I like the bar area and the fact there is a tv for games. Not a great import/craft beer selection. The food was very expensive and mediocre. Overall a nice place for a dinner but bring your large pocketbook.

overpriced for the quality of food in my opinion. good location in the hampton inn on the river.

Nice ambience! Here with 5 other people and most thought everything was just ok. I guess I got lucky because my food was good. Service was a bit slow and food was expensive!
