I'd recently heard through the grapevine that someone bought the old DDI location & was selling BBQ in it. I then realized it was the same people who were on a TV show recently where they competed with Old Hickory & Moonlite. I think Old Hickory won on the show, & Old Hickory is a family favorite of mine, but I wanted to try this place out & see what it was about. We stopped in here on a Saturday at 1pm. Their hours are 11am-3pm on Saturdays. I guess it's lunch only that day. The restaurant is walk up to go food, or drive thru. During the warmer months you're able to order & eat outside on the patio furniture. We pulled up and decided to get the bbq pork sandwich platter. It comes with pulled pork tossed in their signature sauce, two sides & a drink for $7.59. I got onion rings & cole slaw as my side. It didn't take but 5 minutes for us to get our food after ordering. The counter girl was very friendly, asking if it was our first time & gave us some menus to take with us. We arrived home & took a look. The pork sandwich is large. The sides are on the normal side. The onion rings were fresh & tasted like they make them in store. The fries were just okay. I thought the cole slaw cold use a little more sweet flavor. The bbq pork says its pulled, but it's more chopped or minced. I would like a little more chunky if that makes any sense. Their sauce tastes like it's probably Worcestershire & vinegar. It's good in small doses, if I had a lot it would burn my tongue. I liked the pork sandwich. Overall I liked my meal, I didn't love it the way I love Old Hickory. I'm glad they're able to open up a place on the east side. I'll try the chicken boo next time, it's a chicken sandwich with their sauce.
