A little crowded on a Tuesday but no wait. Staff was very friendly especially with a family with kids. Place is a little loud for say a couple but perfect for out family of 5. Beer selection isn't bad. Not local stuff but some premium options in bottles. Menu has a lot of options and everything looks delicious.

Typically, I dine with locals at Cheddar's at least once during any visit to Owensboro because there aren't (as yet) a great many options in town (besides other mediocre chain restaurants). Plus I can only eat so much delicious local barbecue no matter how hard I try! I believe Cheddar's is frequently the restaurant of choice for locals because it has an attractive, theme-free, more modern atmosphere than many of the other chains; warm brick, stone, wood with updated lighting. Parking is abundant. Service average. My problem with Cheddar's is the food. I've roamed all over the menu and nothing I've tried has been more than 'meh'. I know Cheddar's claims to have a scratch kitchen, but breading chicken tenders and onion rings, slicing fish, and mixing buttermilk with some seasonings does not a scratch kitchen make. I've had no dish that strikes me as particularly fresh or freshly made. I don't have the impression that the line staff are cooking dishes so much as heating components and assembling them. Like many other casual American restaurants, Cheddar's menu is little more than Joey Tribbiani's favorite, "fried stuff with cheese". Anything which does not fit that description is woefully bland. The grilled fish and the mushy "seasoned" rice are examples of this. Even though I would choose Cheddar's over some of the other chains in town, I cannot give it more than two stars. The food just doesn't deserve more. By now I would have expected to have found at least one dish to like and with which I could stick, but that is not the case. My hope is that as Owensboro grows (and it is growing) the competition will increase and restaurants in town -- both mom & pops and the chains -- will have to step up their game. The people of Owensboro deserve better.

Cheddars is a pretty popular chain restaurant in Owensboro. It's always busy. It's actually a little funny because when the wait gets to be over 30 minutes a Cheddars, people tend to go over to Logan's next door which is usually dead. I've ate here many times with my parents while I'm in town visiting. We usually dine here because the menu has a little bit of everything, the prices are more than reasonable and the service is fast and friendly. We were in town & dined here with a friend. We were going to go to Briarpatch but it was past 2pm & they'd closed, ugh. Anyway, we arrived around 2:30pm on Sunday. I thought that the church crowd would've died down by then but the place was packed. The hostess was efficient in getting our name but was curt. We only had to wait about 8 minutes for our table. Our server was a man in his late forties I'd say. He came over to greet us and get our drink order and I could tell he was OVER IT. He was over working there, over working that day, over waiting on us, just over it. He didn't want to be there and you could tell, which made be feel very awkward. I ordered the chicken tender platter tossed in buffalo sauce with a side of blue cheese. The platter is served with fries and cole slaw, but I like their Caesar salads so I ordered one of those too. I usually get the fish tacos, with Cajun on them, but I thought I'd switch it up. I really couldn't get over how rude our sever was. He really didn't want to wait on is. I felt like he though we were below him or something. And I know everyone says this, but I'm always nice to wait staff. I've worked in customer service for 15 years and I know people can be assholes and I never want to be one. That's why I didn't say anything to the manager or anything. I figured he must just be having a shitty day but that shitty day then rubbed off on me. Our food came (my salad came earlier and was fine) and my plate just had the chicken tossed in buffalo and the blue cheese. There wasn't any fries or cole slaw. He asked if everything was there and I said "doesn't this come with fries and cole slaw?" He stated that since I got the salad it didn't but he'd "go ahead and get me some". He said it like he was getting me some for free, like mine didn't come with it. But it did. I ordered a salad for $2.59 as it says above the entrees. Oh well. He brought the fries and the cole slaw. Midway through dinner he came with all 3 checks and said "how will this be split up?". I guess we aren't getting dessert. We told him my fiend was on her own bill and my boyfriend and I were on the other. He seemed really annoyed that he'd have to print up new bills. Once he put the bills on the table he started to engage with us, almost like he was trying to be nice for a better tip. It was so odd. Also, I thought maybe the server had just charged me for the chicken tender platter and didn't charge me for the salad, because I'd ordered one that that supposedly canceled out the fries and cole slaw, right? Nope. I was charged for the chicken tender platter and the Caesar salad like I'd ordered all along. Overall, I'm giving the place a 3 because this time sucked, but I've had some pretty good meals here for the price and much better service than we had today.

Stopped there with my wife and a good friend around 6:00 pm on a Friday night. Normally that would require a twenty-minute wait for a seat but we were seated immediately. I have eaten here maybe eight or nine times and they have a great variety of meals to choose from. This night I returned to have the Tilapias with mango salsa with the cheesy broccoli casserole. This dish really satisfies. The fish was cooked perfectly and the salsa is very flavorful. The big hit of the meal was the desert pictured below. Delicious!

People have divided opinions about the merits of the Cheddars business model but I and my family have always been very happy. There is delicious food with many options and huge helpings for under 10 dollars. Everything is good. The croissants are not free but everything is so cheap that that is ok. I think the good I get hear matches up very favorably with the fanciest restaurants in town.

Great service great food great prices who could ask for more?!!!! The food is spot on every time the service is always wonderful and the prices are low we can take our three kids and eat for $30!! Bout as cheap as the Golden Arches but better food and better for you!!!

Just stopped in on my way back to Bowling Green. Picking up an order of onion rings to eat in the truck while driving back home. In expert opinion Cheddars has some of the best onion rings. Here they are now - gotta go! Harold.

Cheddars has easily become my first choice in dining. The prices vs. portions is amazing, and the food is always excellent. Cheddars is always my recommendation for out of town visitors. I did happen to glance over the two, less than stellar reviews on yelp, and I can only say that I couldn't disagree with them more and perhaps they are accustomed to dining in the French Riviera.

Ate there with my son on Mother's Day, and it was delicious! Love that giant aquarium! Very relaxing. My sandwich utterly fell apart and I had to leave part of it, but it was still great. Great salad, too. Those crescents are to DIE FOR, though!!! Oh my God! I could eat a bucket of them and not even blink!! They literally are so light and flaky, with that sweet buttery stuff drizzled on them, they melt in your mouth!!! HEAVEN!!!!! If you go, be sure you get a BUNCH of those! Can't get them out of my head! Drooling as I type this! Will probably short out my keyboard!

I'm so over this place... I have to give them props for keeping prices super low; you can find dinner from $6-8 easily. Just generic, greasy american-ish, chain food with mediocre service. If that's your thing - get in there and go for it.

Yeah, it's a chain, but the portions are great, the prices are amazing, and the food is solid. Anything I've tried has been fine. No, it's not going to blow your socks off, but if you want a good meal for a good price, and probably some leftovers, step in there. I don't get the hate. I've always had good service when I've been.

For the price, I love this place. The fruit flavored teas are delicious, and come with free refills. The food is good, and the service was great. A cool atmosphere with good food.

For the price this place is solid. Pros: Service, value/price, selection of dishes Cons: It's not upscale but that's not their customer either Good everyday value.

Food and service average. Loud and hard to hear. Cost reasonable. Talapia was descent.

I have been here for lunch and dinner several times and this is an OK place to eat in Owensboro. The portions are huge but the food is pretty cookie cutter chain restaurant. One major draw back of Cheddar's is that it gets packed at lunch and dinner. If you are looking for something easy eat here. If you want a memorable meal, you can do better.

It reminds me a bit of an Applebees knock-off. The Philly Cheese Steak was pretty legit, but overall the atmosphere is loud, boisterous and a bit obnoxious.

Good food at a great price! Broccoli casserole is outstanding.
