Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Great experience! Loved going with my Boo! Laura our waitress was excellent! I loved the atmosphere. My Boo and I loved the meal. The dessert CAN NOT be skipped it top notch.Yes it's a little more than Oasis or nice Steakhouse but not so much it's out of reach. Will look forward to my next nite at Difabios

I'm perplexed by some of the reviews here. Great, authentic Italian food in one if the few Mom and Pop's in this otherwise generic fast food town. The homemade sauce ( gravy) is lovingly made and delish. The ambiance and service , as well as the personal interest of the Kansas City raised owner is 5 star. An oasis if authenticity in an otherwise uninteresting culinary town. If you're questioning whether to dine here, do. You won't be disappointed.

Well, I guess everyone has different tastes. I have been going here for 20 years- actually since it opened. I LOVE Italian food- and I love DiFabios. The pasta is homemade, the specials are unique, and the wine list a perfect size with good variety. This is not a meat and potatoes place- I like those as well- but authentic Italian.

Great Italian food. I always leave stuffed with Italian home cooking goodness the salmon and ravioli are awesome. Wine list is good too. There's a reason this place is always full in a small town

We ate here a couple days ago for our anniversary. I have lived in Madisonville my whole life and never been to Difabio's because of the mixed reviews from locals. The salad and bread were fine. I order the Pollo al Forno and my husband had the Chicken Parm. The chicken Parm was good. A huge portions of perfectly fried chicken over bow tie pasta. It could have used a little more sauce, but other than that it was pretty good. The Pollo al Forno was bland and my chicken was over cooked and unedible. When the waitress came to check on us or clear the table she didn't make any comments or question why I had left nearly the entire chicken breast uneaten. For dessert we split the white chocolate cheesecake which was okay, but nothing special. If I ever return I will not order anything with grilled or baked chicken.

Generic and overpriced Italian. No better than you'd find at Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill or other places like that. If you're in town and you need a nice place to go then sure this will work, but that's really the only time I'd ever eat here. If you have even a little skill in the kitchen you can make pasta just as good, if not better than Difabio's. It's certainly not BAD, it's just not that special like it's hyped up to be. Plus the price is a bit ridiculous.

Major disappointment!! Coming from a large Italian family, I was excited to try the only Italian restaurant in Madisonville. I was more than let down by the horrible service, tasteless food, and sky-high prices. The only reason I could possibly discern as to why this restaurant is still open is the fact that it is the ONLY Italian restaurant in town and as such, the city has yet to taste real Italian cooking. Needless to say, I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I ate at this restaurant while on a business trip despite some of the negative reviews I read. The first thing my companion and I noticed was the wall covered with old, weird drawings people and they're kids had drawn. Some of the drawings themselves were disturbing but the part I found most disturbing was that this was supposed to be the "fancy" place to go in town. Once you get passed the horrible decor and the fact that the entire place is completely run down you get to try the food. I ordered the lasagna and when my plate came out there was hard dry sauce caked onto my plate which could mean the food was heated up in a microwave. The lasagna was very bland which forced me to cover it in Parmesan cheese. If you are considering eating here I suggest you order the cheese bread the salad or the dessert, those were the only two good things about our meal. The owner also awkwardly approached our table asked about our food and moved on to a table where he clearly knew the people. We are not from Madisonville but he did not seem to be particularly welcoming. If you want a good meal, excellent service and a clean location I would recommend going to Steakhouse #9.

If you ask anyone in Madisonville, wheres the best restaurant in town they will probably try to sell you on Difabio's Casapela. I don't blame them because there is really not much to choose from. If were trying to shmooze an out of towner I would try to get them a seating there. Its one of the classier establishments around. NOT the best, but certainly classier. Let us start with the few positives service is excellent. Its usually slow so you normally have the staff's full attention. The ambiance is nice. Not very loud at all. You may have to whisper because Difabio's Casapela is very small and your voice may carry when there isn't a crowd there. Decor is very family oriented. Italian or Sicilian? Well, one of those are the focus of the menu. Being that there is a generous amount of seafood items I am going to go with Sicilian. They are also known to cater if you crave Difabio's experience away from the restaurant so I guess that is a plus for some. Now, for the bad. Not the best Italian food. Sorry everyone, I have had better. In fact I expected a whole lot better being independently operated. Olive Garden is 10 times better and I am not a huge fan of Olive Garden; I am just saying that as a measure. The prices are ridiculously expensive! I am sure the location has something to do with it, because they seem to have a captive audience here in Madisonville. The portions are very European and I am trying to be nice here. If you don't fill up on drink and salad you may still be a bit hungry when you leave. Their servings appear as if they under some sort of mandatory government rationing program. Difabio's Casapela is just a so-so restaurant. Don't expect much. Lack luster food, stingy portions and an expensive menu kills the deal. If you're in town Di Fabio's is a definite pass.

This is a review in retrospect, since it's been 4 years since I've eaten there, but eaten there I have, at least 5 times. It is, without any shadow of a doubt, the best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at. And to the reviewer who suggested that Olive Garden is better, all I can say is, really? Really? Laura DiFabio is a culinary trained pastry chef. Her desserts were better than any dessert I've ever had. Their sauces are fresh. The alfredo is genuine. I could go on and on. Back when I was blogging, I wrote about this place. You can find my original reviews here: richmanwisco.blogspot.co… and here: richmanwisco.blogspot.co…

I was in Kentucky for work for a short time, and DiFabio's became like our second home. I can't even begin to describe how good it is. Our favorite thing was the tuxedo tuna, which was seared on the outside with black and white sesame seeds but almost completely rare inside. It was three years ago and I still dream about that tuna. The staff is really great, and Peter, the owner, was a total doll to us- he knew we were from out of town, and one night when we finished work really late he stayed open for us and prepared the most amazing spread ever. I secretly hope I will find myself in Kentucky again soon so that I'll have another chance to eat here.

I live in Madisonville. DiFabio's definitely has their crowd of people who really like it. Most people from Madisonville don't care for it. The food is just ok. Desserts were pretty good, but kind of expensive. I certainly wouldn't say better than any dessert I've ever had. Mmm, no. The ambience is good, but the crowd is snooty and so is the staff. They are only open certain days of the week and they can do that because they have the customers they want. Definitely don't take any kids there or a large party. The lady owner (I think) will make you put your tickets together and refuses to do separate tickets for large parties. They will make you sit next to the person you share your ticket with. Anything you ask that they don't normally do, you will be told no or treated as an inconvenience. Most Madisonvillians avoid it unless they're in good with the owner. I was there with a coworker celebrating a birthday and we had about 15 people. They made us sit separately even though there was plenty of room. :( She had called weeks in advance and they were not busy. The owner refused to put any tables together for her. This review is from experience. I have been there more than once. I'm going to have to agree with the guy who prefers Olive Garden, or even better, Biaggi's in Evansville. I do like that this place adds to the culture of Madisonville though. And if you are in with the in-crowd and don't have any kids and come with a small party then you will enjoy it here. Plan on ordering dessert because the serving size is not large. But, it is one of the classier, more private places in town. Worth going once at least.

One of THE BEST Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at, and I have eaten Italian food all over the country. Great selection, great service, and fantastic food. The dessert choices are to die for. Call, make a reservation (you need one) and go. You won't regret it.
