Just like you remember from the 80's and 90's!!!! My favorite is the loaded nachos and my son's is the taco burger. And they have the best root beer in town!

I'm so glad Taco Tico is back, though I miss their New Albany location. The tacos aren't as greasy as I remember as a kid, but I guess that's a good thing. :) The place has more variety than Taco Bell (though the fried banana peppers are disappointing) and I love their taco burgers and variety of sauces. Dang, now I'm craving the Tico!

Okay so TT! I remember eating at the location on Dixie Hwy when I was a kid and I hated when it closed. So excited when this location opened back up. Great service and great food at this new location! A+

Taco vs taco. I love TBell but there meat has gotten a little weird these past years so stopped into one of my old flames Taco Tico. Wow, it tastes the same as it did when I was young. The regular enchilada sauce is better than Tbells and a touch spicier on the peppery side. The menu is big, seating no problem, good parking and a drive-thru. Now the drive thru the second time was a bit slow but the staff made up for it in amiability. When you got a crave for some fast Mexican food viva la TacoTico.

I love Taco Tico. Since resuming my long-ago love affair with this restaurant, I have become intolerant of the higher-profile Mexican chain. There's just no way it measures up to The Tico. The first taco or burrito I ever tasted, period, was from Taco Taco, back in the early '70s. Eating here again is an eye-opening reminder of what a home run Mexican (or Tex-Mex) food hit with me the first time I had it. And it's still every bit as good as I remember. The flavor of the beans have always been and will always be the special star of the show here for me. They aren't the bland canned beans that have been run though a grinder that the other huge taco chain has sold billions of. Taco Tico's subtle taste is actually -- wait for it -- savory. That great flavor is something you can forget after many years of eating the big brand without character, because it's all that was available. But that flavor still lives here. And after you taste it again, well, there'll be no going back. You have to reacquaint with this chain. It's The Good Stuff.

If you really want some fast "Mexican" give this place a shot. Much better food than taco bell but not as much variety.

I love TacobTico! We always get the enchilada dinner and the nacho dinner and share. The portions are huge and the prices are soo cheap. My husband and I love eating here. I love the pickled jalapeños that they put on the nachos. The staff is always super polite too!

I moved to Louisville in May we never ate at the taco tico here. We always ate at the one in Lexington, well we tried it tonight Awesome!!! The owners and son was there they greeted us and we watched the UK game together and talked about thus and that. The staff were polite and caring the inside is more up to date and clean restrooms. This is going to be a once a week dinner for sure. Terry rd Taco Rico Love it Enchiladas beef Yum! And Mexi Fry's are awesome. Kids can get in a box with coupons and the huge fan Saturday @6 is Karaoke

I have been eating at the Terry rd location since Taco Tico reopened in Louisville a few years ago. I have never been dissapointed. Dining room is always clean, service is fast and friendly. Prices are moderate with many different combo meals and a option to maximize your drink and add the cinnamon crustos(spelling??) Now lets get to the food. The Sancho is definitely the best option, similar to a burrito that comes with hot or mild sauce. Good amount of flavor and just the right size. The tacos are good, better than Taco Bell. The crustos are good, very sugary and crunchy. Overall the food is above average, the service and prices are good -overall 4/5 stars!

Best Tacos Ever.. Very friendly staff.. Amazing enchiladas.. Wish we had one in Indianapolis area.. The huge national taco joint could not compete head to head with this place. The meat has so much flavor and is not bland like the national chain.

I can't believe all of the positive reviews! Well Taco Tico was ok about 3 years ago, but they've gone down hill even more. They use cheap undercooked beef in their tacos and burritos. All the put in their burritos is cheese and beef or bean and cheese. If you want sour cream, lettuce, etc. you'll have to pay extra. My family spent $40 on dinner there and we ended up throwing our food away and going somewhere else.

I am glad to see that Taco Tico is back in the south end of Louisville. My family went in on a Saturday evening which happened to be Karaoke night. The house was full and the atmosphere was certainly abuzz with folks having a good time. Taco Tico doesn't serve alcohol, so this was a great alternative to a typical bar Karaoke scene. In fact, it was a great mix of kids and adults who went up to the mic for their chance in the spotlight. A fun family night, all for the price of a few delicious (and inexpensive) burritos. The menu was what you'd expect from a fast-food Mexican restaurant. Lots of choices, and all at very reasonable prices. My family is vegetarian, so we purchased bean burritos and cheese quesadillas. Both were good, though I didn't ask about lard in the beans (if you're a fellow vegetarian who avoids such ingredients, you might want to ask before consuming). We also ordered chips with queso, and unfortunately the cheese seemed to come squirted from one of those ball-park type nacho machines. Other than that, we enjoyed the food. All of the staff was friendly (including the DJ) and upon leaving the owners were walking around to each table and thanking everyone for coming out for the evening. That's the kind of great customer service that will lead us back to Taco Tico.

I stopped by here on my way home work, I don't like cooking myself something to eat so late, I am too tired.. I would rather have Taco Tico than Taco Bell anyday btw.. Their soft tacos are so yummy.

Food was terrible! I can't believe all the good reviews. This is not the same Taco Tico that I remember. Staff was rude when I tried to complain that the chips were stale and I found a hair in my food.

  • Lynn P.

My first enchilada was at Taco Tico, followed by my first Taco AND my first Choco Taco. Nothing fancy about this place, I just love the food and wish the one in Indiana had made it. I have been known to drive from New Albany clear to Terry Ln., just to get my Taco Tico fix!

  • Elijah P.

I love this place! I drive almost 20 minutes just to come here instead of Taco Bell right on campus. They have great food, they're inexpensive, and the nicest folks working. If only they could open more around louisville!

  • Joseph T.

A solid 3 stars. Nothing amazing about it. Nothing terrible about it. Just mass made burritos/tacos/etc. It is a little high, compared to other "fast" taco places. I do like how the burritos come covered in cheese and sauce, and must be eaten with a knife and fork. That's different from Taco Bell. I don't understand how anyone could say that Taco Tico is better than Taco Bell. I find them both to be about the same. I mean - there are differences. But, whether you like one over the other is merely preference. Personally, I like them both equally. Fast burritos for relatively cheap. What do you REALLY want? Odd piece of info - when I went in there recently, they had a karaoke machine setup, and the owners were sitting at the karaoke table. Just seemed like a really odd thing to have karaoke at a fast food taco restaurant. And it was really quiet in there - nobody was singing. Which was a source of confusion. Do you just go ask to sing? Do they call you up from your table? Just a weird thing.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
