Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I love Spinelli's. For NY style pizza, it's by far the best in the Ville. You can't beat their 18" cheese pizza. Just the perfect amount of cheese, sauce and dough and consistently tasty. At $15, it's a steal, and often you can get specials for $10. I recently tried their canollis for the first time and found them good. I have also tried the cheesesteak which I don't recommend despite the restaurant as being advertised as a Philly style place with good cheesesteaks. I just found the cheesesteak to be quite under-flavored and lacking freshness. As for this particular location, I think the take out is great but I wouldn't really recommend dining in (service isn't very attentive). I enjoy dining in at the Highlands location much better.

Took the BMX team there after a big race. Tons of killer New York style pizza a great price. Staff is amazing and super friendly. We called ahead and reserved the train car. Deep fried Oreos, Vegas style, ya gotta get. When ever we race in Louisville, we will stop here for sure!

Spinelli's is just one of those polarizing places. There never seems to be any in between. People either love it or hate it. My house loves it. Huge, big as your face, slices of pizza. This isn't St. Louis or Chicago style pizza, but authentic, east coast pizza that you can fold in half! We've never had any issues with toppings! Cheese, sauce, meats and veggies have always been flavorful and customer service at this location is friendly and top notch. We're regularly patrons at Spinelli's on Goose Creek, and it is our typical Pizza Joint here in Louisville. We definitely prefer it over all of the chain pizza places, even though it costs a little more, and we have failed to find another local place we like better. Join their text club for occasional text messages with a good deal! We're talking once a month, and usually it's a coupon or deal worth jumping on. :) Their meat lover's pizza is amazing and their mac and cheese bites are a perfect appetizer. Since it seems no one is ever on the fence about Spinelli's, go in and order by the slice to try them out before you have delivery! It's definitely worth the try!

Look what we can do, Louisville.* I love coming home to see things changing for the better. I never thought my hometown would offer so many cool food choices and people from all over the country seeking to make their home in the 'ville. With a new(er) population comes new(er) food choices. Spinelli's East Coast taste comes authentic from Philly and while I'll always have a soft spot for 'ville staples like Za's, Wick's and Impellizzeri's, I'm open enough to see what a newcomer can do. He can do a lot. With gigantic, foldable, NYC-style slices, Spinelli's offers a nice, chewy crust, savory sauce that isn't glopped on too heavily and the sweet, slightly hot crumbly sausage that reminds me of Mid-Atlantic pizza options. Brilliant for take out and feeding a group of hungry adults and kids, choose your quantity wisely. You will be able to eat far less than you would think. This pizza is deceptively filling. I would definitely order from here again and am open to trying some more variety from the menu. As I mentioned, the staples are always nice to have during a visit home but even nicer is to see your hometown growing with new and tasty choices. * youtube.com/watch?v=DaCJ…

It was my first order and found it to be good NY style cheese pizza. I ask them to leave it in the oven to make the crust well done and they did it perfectly. I liked the size of the pie and that it was ready when I picked it up. I will definitely try again.

Every time I've been here there is always old pizza and a very apathetic man behind the counter glumly taking my order. Also, it's not a Philly cheesesteak without onions and peppers on it, you should not have to add those for more. Pepperoni knots were decent, but a bit overcooked and very, very greasy. I doubt I'll be returning.

So disappointed! The pizza was sub-par: soft crust, large slices, monster sausage balls and cheap cheese. It's like NY style with NO taste nor pizza swag. We also ordered deep fried ores - b/c we have them at state fair. Anyway, theirs were soft and gross. It was a TOTAL waste of time/money.

1 major star for the dine-in atmosphere. So unique! 2nd star for the concept as Louisville has definite need for that east coast pizzeria experience and the menu was really diverse (breakfast pizza anyone? Hoagie? Cheesesteak?). The rest of the stars should have gone to the quality of the food but I was not impressed. My pizza slices were definitely foldable, fun! But the crust was tasteless and the cheese sparse. Our cheesesticks were nothing special (at best) and so hot when put right in front of my 6 year old that his finger blistered when his hand brushed the side of the pan. I truly wanted this to be a fabulous experience. It just wasn't. Maybe you need to be inebriated at 3am to really get the right experience or maybe the east coast set likes their crust to taste like baked flour. Me? I'll pass.

The pizza is literally the best I've ever had, I left world fest because I was craving Spinelli's pizza. Plus it has really great people working there, they seem to really care about their customers. I took my mom there for her first time and now she can't stop talking about it!

Very good New York style pizza. We ordered delivery and stayed safe since this was our first time trying Spinelli's. We ordered a large sausage and pepperoni pizza with a side order of fries. The fries were a great appetizer and there is a hefty amount of fries served. We had to slow down on the fries, since they were so good, and we still needed room for pizza. The pizza was right on the money. This is a true NY style pizza. Thin crust and wide enough to be folded. We couldn't finish the whole pizza but we saved some for dinner tomorrow. We don't usually save pizza for the next day but this pizza is worth saving.

Very unique dining in experience, cool location! Usually only order delivery from here, pizza is huge and they deliver until 4 AM! Great late night food.

I have to admit I was skeptical when I kept reading "real New York City pizza". I haven't had even halfway decent pizza in the 8+ years I've been living here. Well I have finally found my Louisville pizza fix. No need for the Kentucky gimmicky nonsense, just get a regular cheese or pepperoni pie and enjoy real pizza. Big, "foldable" slices with real cheese and sauce and get this, it doesn't taste like papa johns, dominos, little ceasers, pizza hut or every single disgusting pizza place in Louisville. I did see a review that mentioned the cheese was sparse and have to say two things to that: 1 - Good cheese is the key with pizza, not the amount of cheese (and the cheese was very good). 2 - The pizza actually had a ton of cheese so I find it hard to believe that this person was at the right restaurant. If I was back home where I grew up then maybe I would give this place a 4 or 4 1/2 but for Kentucky this is a straight five star. Sitting in the subway car with the graffiti paintings on the wall was a nice touch. I will definitely be back and love that they do pizza by the slice as well. I don't usually change my rating based on service unless the service is so bad that you have to factor it in before choosing to eat at a place or not. For my first experience the service was ok but he looked to be very busy and helping out in the kitchen so not a problem. Thank you yelp for helping me find a real pizza joint!!!

After hearing great things about Spinelli's, we decided to try it. The flavor was amazing, specifically the sauce and cheese. The crust was the perfect density and texture. The toppings, however, were scant, especially considering the size of the pizza and the cost!!! Plus I see pictures on here from other reviewers and their pizzas have twice as many toppings! I'm not a complainer, but this just exuded poor quality control. It's the equivalent of sitting guests at a dirty table at a restaurant. We may give it another try down the road, but it's unlikely since we just paid $30 for a pizza that had $4 worth of toppings (not including cheese and sauce).

Worst experience ever. Very rude people. Save your time & money. It's not worth it. Very nasty attitudes. I'm told we were served by Brad. He has a potty mouth & was very very rude. So avoid him at all cost. The other 2 locations are wonderful so we were disappointed at the service we received.

I love Spinelli's and this is the best location in town! Before I was diagnosed with Celiac, my daughter and I would eat here constantly. We love the white pizza and the traditional pepperoni. You can buy pizza by the slice and the slices are huge! My daughter and I would buy 2 different slices and share them. And it's a very cheap lunch! It's a thin, New York style pizza and it's delish! (I wish they had gluten free options. I can no longer eat here.)
(4)Kevin S.
This is the Mecca of all pizza places in Louisville. Open til 5AM every night is reason enough Spinelli's can redeem Louisville's nightlife for me, this city seems to shut down at dark (OK 1 AM, but that's still too early!) 90% of the time I eat here I'm slam hammered drunk, but it always satisfies. For the other 10% I'm sober, I'm just as impressed. I often get the Stromboli, which easily allows for leftovers aka hangover food. Or if you wake up still drunk, even better! Raid the fridge for fourthmeal. Quick facts: They deliver. Their taste in music is awesome. and loud. All of the pizzas are delicious. Their side items are excellent as well. You can drink beer here. The dining room is a subway car. All the other locations are just as awesome, this one is just close to home.

So , Great Pizza. Have had it delivered and it is just outstanding. Pricey, but worth it. Then I stopped in, and the place is dirty, employees seem to have friends loitering, so I waited in my car. Happened twice. Probly a bad habbit. Facility could use a big cleaning and employees could make you feel welcome instead of worrying of loafing with friends. The cleanliness has made me not want to order anymore.
(3)Seth G.
Do you like sauce that is basically sugar? How about a thin crust with the texture of a circus peanut but the flavor of a diaper? Wait... You're just one person and want a small? Well, eff you cuz they only make'em large, paisano! If you get into this area late at night, this is literally your last resort. But trust me, you're better off eating a burrito from the dumpster behind the nearest gas station than eating this disgusting excuse for a pizza. And you'd save yourself $26 by doing so. Only 1 star because we can't give them zero.
(1)Todd M.
Not bad pizza as far as pizza goes, restaurant was dirty, but employees were nice and friendly, pizza was cold when I got it but it was also 1 am so I wouldn't have expected much more.
(3)Ka-Lin H.
The owner apologized for the bad experience I had. I haven't gone back, but I appreciate it when business owners own up to their bad service and food. I haven't found the courage to go back yet, but they get an extra star for now for trying to get me back as one of their customers.

Outrageously awesome. This is just as good as it gets for authentic New York Style Pizza outside of the great city itself. After travelling to Louisville to visit the Slugger Factory/Museum my family and I were looking for a bite to eat somewhere that we couldn't find in Cincinnati, originally we had considered Joe's Crab Shack, but the fact that it was easily accessible to us at home held us back. Searching through Yelp we saw Spineli's and immediately my husband wanted to try it. Unfortunately there was an IronMan Marathon going on and the route to the down town location was block, however we saw there was one out of the city and decided to go there instead. Upon arrival I will admit the exterior of the building did look a little sketchy. I was actually almost ready to just pull away and go to the McDonald's across the street but I second thought (mainly because there was a big giant A from the health inspector displayed in the front window) we decided to stay and I'm sure glad we did! Inside was a fun and the subway car was a great and really unexpected touch. My kids loved looking at it but were too shy to sit in it to dine. There was a touch screen jukebox playing a wide selection of music and it was at a good level to where we could still talk without being drowned out. I can't say enough good things about the service. We had a man who was quick to help and very inviting. I was imagining we'd be doing most the "service" but this place was on it! Bringing utensils and everything we'd need right to the table. I wish I would've got his name but I was sure to tip him on the way out! The food was spectacular. Their fries were almost funnel cake fried and I couldn't get enough of them. There was a wide variety of pizza and all of it was served by the slice as well as in pie style. Since my kids and husband are a bit picky they went ahead and ordered a plain cheese pie while I tried the white pizza slice. When the pizza came out it was ENORMOUS. My three year old sat next to it and it was almost as big as she is. The slices cover the entire place and they didn't skimp on the ricotta cheese! The taste was exactly like we were back in New Jersey/New York and I was throughly impressed. It was very much like the Three Brothers From Italy pizza on the board walk. I can't say enough how highly I want to rate this place. I really wish there was one in Cincinnati because we'd eat there all the time. That being said we might make a special trip down to Louisville just for this gem!

We were traveling and we're staying at a local hotel. We decided to order a pizza. The pizza delivery boy was super nice and brought plates and utensils which was awesome. The pizza was quite large as they told us they only have 18inchs. Pizza and cheese bread looked great. However on the bottom of the pizza was black stuff which tasted horrible and with the smell and taste of whatever that substance was left a horrible taste in your mouth. We think it may have been old pizza that was left in the oven and burned over and over again and stuck to the bottom of our pizza. Needless to say we are a bit of each of our slices and threw it away. The cheese bread however saved the night and we ate that instead which was good.

Graffiti music pizza and presence all clash here to make this place feel as it was ripped from the land of its birth. I've made a habit of sitting in the subway car; it's just fun to do. You can get pizza by the slice but if you don't see what you want, look at the chalk board for what they make and ask. They will cook it right up for you. They have a thin chewy style east coast pizza style. The foods great I've become addicted to the whit pizza. The feel and atmosphere of the place is amazing, especially if you fill the subway car with friends. I like the east coast style of pizza were you have to fold the giant slice like a taco just to eat it. There white pizza is my favorite it has white cheeses blanketing the crust, mozzarella, ricotta and more melted down to make a creamy and artery clogging concoction. I don't know if it the nostalgia of the place, the white tiles in the subway or the loud fun graffiti tagged across the walls. I just keep coming back here. The good pizza and the friendly, neighborhood style service that puts the customer first, makes me stop by when I'm in the area. As long as you have a few bucks in your wallet and a taste for some good food this is a place to pack with good friends for good times, or to take care of a wicked hangover.
(4)Daniel K.
Great east coast style pizza. Very generous with toppings and they have deep fried Oreos, wow, they were good.
(4)Skip R.
Our party ordered carry-out ... an 18" sausage, chicken fingers, and philly cheese fries. The order arrived in just over an hour, luke warm, with no paper plates, napkins, utensils, or condiments. (We were traveling and staying in a hotel otherwise this would not be a big issue) The pizza was like cheese on cardboard with a few splotches of sausage and very bland. The fingers were processed, like McNuggets, and the fries were one big clump.

Great hours - you can get a pizza long after a night out or hanging with friends. With that said, I find the pizza to be too soggy for my liking. Especially for a New York style slice. Late night, I would do it again; normal eating hours, I would choose another spot. I would add that they do serve other things besides pizza, but I have not tried any of those items... Good luck.
(2)Jeff J.
Pretty good if you like thin pizza. Price is good too. If your not a fan of fold over and eat pizza go the other way.
(4)Doug T.
holy crap.. authentic NYC style pizza.. we were a little confused as everyone said they had crappy Chicago sytle pizza.. well.. they do because it' NYC style... the tell was everyone said it's that foldy kind.. Thin crispy crust with those dark brown burn marks on the bottom and that orange oil dripping off the pizza when you fold it in 1/2. Also they had amazing deep friend oreos covered in powdered sugar.. I"m going to pass out now that my diabetic coma is kicking in..

A taste of New York in Louisville! This is the second pizza joint in Louisville that deserves recognition. Spinelli's offers New York style pizza that will not disappoint. Reasonably priced, with a great lunch special, one slice of Spinelli's pizza will leave you happily full. The pizza slices are like something out of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, larger than life and deliciously cheesy with just the right amount of sauce. The handmade dough is floury and makes the crust a perfect ending to a pretty darn good slice of pie. One slice will suffice but two will quench the biggest of appetites. The ambiance is more suited to a younger generation as stickers and signs adorn the walls while rock plays throughout the restaurant, but all will enjoy the food regardless of the stainless steel tables. The 3.5 stars is does not do the pizza justice, I would lean more toward 4. That's this critics review, until next time I'll be eating.
(4)Cynthia D.
Pizza the way it should be! It's all about the slice, the real east coast style. I'm not into toppings or anything of that sort so this always hits the spot. Huge, oversized amazing pizza. The dining room is worthy of being a movie set. I'm not going to spoil the fun, but I was wowed at how lovely and unique this place is. The art in the dining room is notable, too, as it's installed by a world famous graffiti artist. Family friendly, too! I'd come here with just about anyone.
(5)stephen C.
One of the BEST Pizza joints in town! Meat Lover's Special in my deal here. After some bad cheap sushi earlier of the day, this place made up for the rest of the evening. Should have stopped here earlier instead. Great cheese, and ingredients. Wife ordered the vege pizza, and was truly impressed by it. By the way, this place is open UNTIL 5:00 A.M. !!!!

Y'all have no earthly idea how happy I am that Spinelli's finally opened their East End Louisville location after two years, almost three, of taunting me with their empty storefront every time I came home to visit. Their location in the Highlands has become a Louisville landmark, and at last I don't have to drive 30+ minutes just to get an amazing slice of Brooklyn-style pizza after midnight. Here's the rundown: Late-night craving hours? CHECK. Plethora of topping options? Delightfully floppy thin crust in perfectly foldable slice sizes? CHECK. Good sized pies for the price? CHECK. Supporting independent local businesses (and no, Papa John's is not a local business)? CHECK. I'm pretty sure they even deliver, but don't quote me on that one. The only downside to this new Spinelli's is their lack of an eat-in area. I love the tiny diner feel of the Highlands locations, with its convertible car booths and super-cheap beers, and to have that sort of escape amidst the homogenized drudgery of the East End burbs would be a substantial triumph. As it stands, I'll just be grateful that I can take my Spinelli's to go for the time being, and thank my lucky stars that they managed to make the drive out to that side of town.
(4)Eric M.
Good Pizza, and and even sat inside the subway car. wasn't too fast for lunch service, but the music selection in the jukebox made up for it
(4)Colin E.
Good east coast style pizza.
(4)Kelly N.
Yeah, it's a bit different here. The crew is young and the place is loud. And the pizza isn't quite like any that you are used to getting in Louisville. And I guess that is why I like it so much. It's almost like an addiction; I have to have a slice weekly. A PBR just seems to go perfectly, but keep an eye out for Yeungling on occasion.
(5)Michelle B.
Run away from this garbage disguised as food. Nasty greasy, doughy sans toppings slop. This is not NY style pizza. And as much as I dislike Papa Johns I honestly would have to say I would gag down PJ's pizza before eating another pizza from Spinelli's
(1)Christopher B.
They are open til the wee hours of the morning, so it is the ideal (and only) late night option near me. I have had phenomenal pies and mediocre pies here, but I like the one size fits all ideology and the gusto that Spinelli's upholds. The COPE2 artwork doesn't hurt either.
(4)michelle e.
Great NY style pizza. I'm talking the kind you fold and eat, YUM! One thing my husband was sad about was that the beer is not very cold, but other than that great pizza and cool atmosphere. They have a subway car inside the restaurant that you can sit in.
(4)Shal V.
Ordered an 18" 'New York-style' pizza (half cheese and half pepperoni) for dinner. I've definitely had better pizza (even at chains like Domino's and Pizza Hut) - the crust was good but the pizza was overwhelmed with layers of cheese and there was not much sauce or overall flavoring. At the end of the day, what sets pizzas served at one place apart from those served at others are the sauce (which usually has most of the flavor), the toppings and the crust in a curiously delightful amalgam. Yeah, we can argue about the oven and other factors but it's usually these 3 that truly make or break pizzas. The odd thing is, if even one of the 3 is off, we find ourselves uttering pearls of culinary wisdom like "yes, I loved the sauce but the crust was too chewy", "the toppings didn't taste fresh" and other similar gems, leaving us with an unsated, unfulfilled feeling. That is precisely how I felt as I started to dig into this pizza. If they go easy on the cheese and add more sauce to the crust, I'm sure I'll be back.
