Extremely friendly lady waiting tables. She made me feel welcome right away. I travel quite often and I try at least one Korean restaurant per trip. Unfortunately, for readers, I usually order the same thing... BiBimBop!!! That's my favorite because I don't eat meat, so that usually comes with tons of fresh veggies. This place did not disappoint. This ranks right up there with the best. If this is any indicator of the other items on the menu, or the Mongolian BBQ, you'll be in for a treat. Also, be sure to eat the kimchee!!! It's fantastic.

When we first got there, it was us and another family (party of 8) in the whole place. They had several TV's, a bar area and a large dinning area. We were greeted and asked if we wanted the menu or dinner buffet. We opted for the dinner buffet with salad bar. The salad bar is catered to an Asian themed salad (no cheese or hard boiled eggs). There was ginger dressing and two different soups. This confused and disappointed my date because he was expecting the traditional American salad bar. I was completely fine with it and happy. Everything on the salad bar was fresh and the lettuce was crisp. The main meal buffet was full of different noodles or rice as your base for your bowl. There were plenty of fresh and great looking (and tasting) veggies to add. The meat selection for your bowl was good too. They had pork, tofu, steak, chicken, fish, shrimp and calamari. The seafood was all frozen considering we are a land-locked state. You may follow instructions listed to make a sauce or they have a list of "Basic Sauces" already made for you. Once your bowl is completed, you take it to the cooks. They cook it for you right there in less than 5 minutes time. Everything was great. The server filled our drinks accordingly. However, she did not clear the empty plates or bowls at all. Nor did she provide us with chopsticks or napkins. I had to search out chopsticks and ask for a second napkin. By the time we finished dinner, the place was filling up. We will be going back for dinner.

Walking into this place it seems pretty unassuming being tucked away in a strip mall. I got there around 5pm and I was the only one in there. I assume the person who greeted me was the owner, a very friendly lady who unfortunately assumed I wanted the Mongolian BBQ when in fact I came for the Korean Food. I was pretty hungry so I started off with the Kim Bob roll which seemed to have Bulgogi and kimchi in it. Spicy... I loved it. For my entree I went with the ever reliable Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop - a heated stone pot with rice, vegetables and meat. I added as much sauce as I wanted and went to town. It was exactly as I expected and very tasty. It hit the spot immediately. When I get a craving for Korean food it doesn't go away... so I am really glad I found this place on my last night in Louisville. Do yourself a favor... give it a try. Felt like home.

The lady that served us was so sweet! I would absolutely recommend this place. It's got great food for a cheap price. If you enjoy mongolian grills and korean, you will love this place.

It's a Friday evening and the place is empty. I tried to convince my friend that we should go somewhere else. The food is bland and boring. As others have said the inside is not very inviting, and it's borderline gross. I recommend you don't go here.

Oh wow! This will be my go-to place when I'm in the mood for Seoul food. (Go ahead and groan.) Shah's Mongolian Korean Barbeque House is tucked into the corner of a strip mall. You won't stumble across it by accident, but it's worth looking for. The restaurant is clean, but a little dark. There are beautiful Genghis Khan murals on the walls, but the furnishings are more spartan. The owner is delightful, and the other staff are also friendly. At lunchtime, you can buy a single trip through the Mongolian Grill, soup and salad bar for $7.99! That is really a bargain. Because I found out that the owner makes her own kimchi, I also had to add some as a side. It was $1.99, and worth it! The soup bar is unusual. You put accompaniments: noodles, wonton and vegetables into a bowl, then ladle one of two soups over the top. The resulting soup is a very nice accompaniment to the meal. Another bonus that is unusual for an Asian restaurant is that Shah's has good freshly brewed iced tea. Shah's also offers karaoke 7 nights a week starting around 10:30 pm. I will certainly be returning to Shah's, and I recommend that you try it too.

I always have a nice chat in Korean with the owner here, but despite that, I am only reviewing the "Mongolian grill" part of them menu. While I am still confused at the Mongolian name since I never found anything like it in Mongolia, it is pretty darn tasty. Choose your own meat and vegetables and add sauce from a nice variety of options and have it stir-fried up fresh. I always include an egg and some crushed peanuts for toppings. Keep the rice separate and add after the food is cooked to maximize both flavor and quantity of meat/veggies. As something different than other Mongolian grills in town, they have a salad bar and soup bar included in the very reasonable price.

My wife and I wanted to try something different so we fired up the yelp app and found Shah's. We've never been to a Mongolian grill before so we didn't know what to expect. Fortunately, the woman who greeted us (I think she is the owner) was super friendly and more than happy to explain that we would essentially pick our own ingredients and take them to a giant iron disk to be cooked. It was fun picking my own ingredients, and I really enjoyed my food. However, the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is atrocious. It is extremely dimly lit, and sadly doesn't do the food justice. If the owner would not have greeted us so quickly and with such enthusiasm, we probably would not have stayed to eat. The poor decor also limits the occasions I would visit with others, and I hesitate to recommend it to people I know. So why 3 stars? The food earns all the stars here, if I was just rating it by itself, a 4 or maybe 5 star would be the result. The overall appearance of the place would earn a negative star, so 4 - 1 = 3.

The best thing about Shah's is the lady who owns it. She's very accommodating. My friends and I hold weekend-long events to watch video game tournaments, and we've been looking for a place with good enough internet to stream video and play games online with food and drinks. Shah's met all those options. People paid one flat price to eat all day, which was a good value overall. The food was alright, and I appreciated the recipes listed on the wall when it came to putting the dishes together. Domestics were cheap, but drinks and imports were a little more expensive than I hoped. I was happy with the experience overall, and I have to give them four stars for giving up their back room to a crowd of nerds for a weekend and being super helpful.

Went for dinner and service was awesome! Owner is very cool. This place is a nice hidden gem in Louisville. Best of all...food was DELICIOUS!

The 4 stars are given for their delicious Korean food. I don't like the "Mongolian" grill thing at all. I tried their version of Gal Bi and it is so very delicious! It looked just like the picture on their website: lightly charred, juicy, fatty and chewy with a hint of sweetness. Though they don't have a large selection of ban chans (little side dishes) since their main business is the "Mongolian" grill thing. But do try the Gal Bi...you'll be craving it as soon as you are done!

I got Shah's delivered by a third party. I got a sushi roll and the crab rangoons. The sushi roll had a bad flavor and fell apart at first touch. The crab rangoons were basically fried wontons as there was almost nothing inside. At first I though it was a mishap but as I continued to eat I realized they got worse. I'm all for second chances but in this instance it is the first time I've experienced Shah's and I will not try it again.

Owner was super nice! But the food , how great. The grill was fantastic and has great suggestions. The soup and salad bar really shine. Everything is super fresh, house made and taste fantastic . What a gem! My husband and I will defiantly be back.

Shah's Mongolian Grill is my new favorite place! Amazing food, cheap liquor and of course there is the singing! It's like Cheers but with karaoke... =) If your shy about singing don't be! Everyone is laid back and the owner goes out of her way to make sure everyone feels comfortable. She'll even start evening by being the first person to get up on stage and sing.

Go here when my daughter comes home from college she has to eat at this place its great fresh and always plenty of choices. The bar and karaoke isn't bad if you go during the night life. Don't be shy to fill the bowl up though or it will leave you hungry afterward.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
