Great ambiance. The tuna tar tar appetizer was excellent ! The shrimp were huge and delicious in the cocktail. All of my guests raved about their main. The view was excellent as was the service. I will definitely return on my next trip.

When you go to a restaurant with a schtick, like Rivue and its revolving dining areas, you wonder if the food is really going to be that good or if the restaurant is just relying on its atmosphere. In Rivue's case, the food would be worth it even without the view; the view is just a bonus. I had the duck, which was juicy and cooked perfectly. The Yukon whipped potatoes were great with the juice from the duck, and the brussel sprouts were the perfect balance of crispy and soft. For dessert, we split two scoops of lemon sorbet and one scoop of their basil ice cream. The creamy, savory basil was a perfect pairing with fruity, tart, sweet lemon. I was also super excited about the complimentary chocolates. Even when you've already had dessert, chocolate is still the perfect way to end a meal.

This was a great ending to an educational month!!! THANK YOU LORD for the lessons and for The Rivue!!!! Perfect food, perfect view, perfect ambience!!!

Great Mother's Day brunch at Rivue! Had a reservation and were seated promptly in the revolving area. There was a wide array of choices for breakfast and lunch items along with an omelet bar, Belgian waffle bar, and a dessert area. A bounty of cold stone crab claws with a delicious remoulade is a "can't miss"! Surprisingly tasty was the duck confit salad with a heavenly dressing. I was also pleased of how kid-friendly this restaurant is during brunch. From the initial high-five to my 20 month old at the hostess table, to the around 10 happy kids in our seating area. The service was good; our server was courteous and kept refilling our drinks consistently. This was my first experience at Rivue for brunch. Can't wait for our next visit!

EXCELLENT! What a fantastic evening! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Rivue, and the evening was so special! Our waitress was extremely helpful and kind, our assistant server was very attentive, the "piano man" was delightful- and the food was AMAZING!!!! Scallops, lemon butter, gumbo, crispy skin duck- all wonderful. It is such a stunning view as well. My husband and I had a spectacular time, and I'd HIGHLY recommend Rivue!
(5)Val A.
My Wife and I celebrated our 7th year anniversary here. Its right in the Galt House hotel downtown. The ambiance is just right, the views of downtown Louisville, and the Ohio River are spectacular. The drinks selections are awesome, and the food, WOW..is it pricey, yes, but its absolutely worth it. The restaurant spins, so your views are constantly changing. If you are ever in Louisville, you must check out RIVUE..

Fabulous! Great service, I mean like GREAT service. Louisville Lemon Drop was delightful, quite a nicely different take on that popular drink. The blonde sweet potato bisque is TO DIE FOR. The warm, crisp sourdough bread and compound butters demanded another serving. The duck breast was tender and crisp-skinned, if slightly less pink than I prefer, the sauce was luscious, especially mixed with the creamed sweet potatoes (totally different flavor profile than the soup, so no overlap); even the Brussels sprouts were yummy, and I hate those! Topped off with bourbon and dark chocolate cherry bread pudding, and the complimentary candy cart with more dark chocolate, excellent pianist, and you couldn't ask for a more satisfying, elegant dinner. And it was spinning the whole time! So we got a nice view of the clouds, the rain, the city and water, and then the sun came out to light up the mist and it was beautiful. I should add the room itself Is gorgeous: lovely table settings, exotic flowers and stylish linens Everyone's meals were thoroughly enjoyed and again, the service was attentive throughout. The one and only complaint was that the windows weren't well cleaned and there were quite large buggy visitors ( dead and alive) hanging around that were rather unpleasant to view; at least try were are on the outside! It's a splurge, but I highly recommend Riview for a special evening out..

Our anniversary, Birthday & vacation celebration was rolled into one, as we decided to try Rivue out. ...and we had such an amazing experience. Although this isn't somewhere we'd go all the time ($$$ - we had a gift card which helped too), it's definitely a place we'll go to celebrate and have a romantic night out for 2. The salmon & steak were perfectly cooked. Scallops were tender and we couldn't get enough. Wine was on sale ... So of course I enjoyed a bottle . And the chocolate candy cart was an awesome touch. David, our server, was energetic and made us feel more than comfortable. Never pushy. But NOTHING beats the view. We went around 7:30 in July and the lighting was absolutely stunning. I'm sure they're used to people taking photos a million time during their visit, because it's something you can't help but want to capture. "Oh, let me get you in front of Downtown, oh, now the river ... Wait, now the bridges again." The only thing that was hard to look at was in one corner where the building and window meet, there's bugs and webs and stuff (it's noticeably hard for them to reach/clean) so just enjoy your wine and keep rotating.

Wonderful place to go for a celebration dinner or romantic evening. Food was cooked to perfection. We got the $99 dinner for two (salad, entree, one side, dessert) but added appetizer of scallops which had bacon, mushrooms & what I thought were mashed potatoes but turned out to be a parsnip purée (incredible) & a bottle of wine. The steaks were prepared exactly as requested. Service is top notch. View of the Ohio River is ever changing due to the rotating part of the restaurant. The decor is lovely. If I had one negative it was the large group (over 20 people) that were rather loud. Wish they had been seated in the private dining area.

25 stories up, a rotating restaurant with a view of Louisville, KY and the river. I loved the view and it was great for a nice romantic dinner with my husband. The live piano player added a nice touch to the atmosphere. The decor was modern and added an elegant, simple background to the view. Our waiter was fantastic! The wine was great and the food was very very tasty and filling (not a tiny plate of over-priced snacks like you sometimes see at nice restaurants). We would absolutely go back.
(5)Emily Y.
Fun restaurant to dress up and go out on date night to. Great view especially during a lightening storm--which is when we happened to go. But beware, if you tend to get motion sick, you may have ruble with the rotating dining room. The candy cart is a major plus too. However, for the price, there's tastier restaurants with better portion sizes.

I have been here on two occasions while visiting Louisville, and both times have been wonderful five-star experiences. On the most recent visit, we used the Restaurant.com deal (Highly recommend!). For $100 we purchased $200 worth of food (excluding alcohol) between 4 people. 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill at the end. Atmosphere: Waiters and service were friendly, attentive and quick. The rotating restaurant is a cool concept, and I never felt sick or dizzy. The view was gorgeous as always. Attire: The women in our group wore heels and either dresses or dress pants. The men wore button down shirts with khakis and dress shoes. Although I saw some other diners wearing jeans. Food: For appetizers, we ordered the crab cake and scallops which were excellent. I ordered the New York strip and it was cooked perfectly Medium how I asked. Dessert was maybe the least impressive part about the restaurant, but I'm not much of a dessert person anyways.

Ambiance- great! Service- hit or miss Food- okay The Rivue does definitely have a nice view and feel. The piano playing was also a plus. BUT outside of that, I really have no reason to go again. One issue I have is that I had to wait 15-20 minutes after I arrived on-time for my reservation. The second issue I have is that the service was spotty-- our server hardly ever showed her face except to take our orders and bring out the food. Luckily, one of the neighboring servers noticed and took care of us. He brought us refills, bread and candy at the end of the night. He even took our payment. I wish I caught his name cause he deserves props for bailing out his co-worker. Food was ok-- nothing really to comment on. I did expect a little larger portion for the price we paid. I'm glad we went once just to take in the sunset over Louisville, but there's not enough here to make me want to come back.
(2)Stephanie K.
Decor: Lovely, probably what drives the price up. Spectacular view. Staff: Extremely friendly. Food: It's ok, not worth the price. I'm rather easy-to-please when it comes to food, but I can't rave about Rivue. And my man was extremely disappointed, which is even worse since he paid. Rivue Salad - while tasty, was nothing incredibly unique to merit $8. Baccala Chicken - Delicious! Chicken breast stuffed with spinach (no sketchy bits!) + rolled in ham, served over cheesy grits. I would've given the dish 5/5 except for how painfully salty it was. And this is coming from a chick known to drink pickle juice. Maple Flan - Tasty! Though more of a dark caramel flavor than maple. And tiny. Nifty complementary candy cart - Rolls through after you've had dessert, incredibly clever but NOT good. The items are made with a very cheap chocolate that was downright saddening. Like worse than that extra cheap Christmas candy you get at the dollar store. Alcohol - Cheap. :) IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have ever gotten MILDLY queasy in a car/boat/plane/rollercoaster in your entire life, for the love of god, do not sit in the rotating room. It's a cool idea, but not for everyone. I pretended it was fun because I felt salty for wanting to sit there so badly.
(2)Terrae S.
Horrible service, took them 45 minutes to sit us (we had a reservation!) then took another hour to get salads, then TWO hours to get our dinners. So awful and the manager did nothing. :(

I planned a dinner here for a friend's bachelorette party this past June 2008. We had a group of 14, and they happily accommodated us at our requested time. Rivue is in a great location at the top of an old hotel, and has some rotating floors. It overlooks downtown Louisville and the river and has beautiful views of the city lights at night. Our server at first was quite stuffy but he eventually warmed up to us and by the end was a lot of fun, bouncing around with his candy display, tossing lollipops our way and letting me take his pic! That is what I'm talking about. It helps make an experience more full if the server gets more involved than telling you the specials. They have an extensive wine list and also a full bar, both of which we indulged in. The entree choices were great and everyone enjoyed their dinners which ranged from steak to vegetarian choices. We celebrated with some fun desserts and all in all, I thought this was a perfect place to celebrate pre-party style before venturing out to 4th Street. I did think it was FREEZING. Other than that, we were seated promptly, served quickly and politely (though with a bit of dryness) and genuinely had a good time at this restaurant. I would recommend this place for groups (make a reservation), romantic dinners, celebratory occasions and business lunches/dinners. With the views alone, it is worth the visit.

I accidently happened to go to this restaurant. I was looking for a sushi place and instead of going to Jeff Ruby's I ended up being here. The View from the 25th floor which keeps changing every 5 mins because of the revolving floor is amazing. The service is exceptional, with the bread boy and the waiter taking care of your drinks and explaining the menu. I had a NY steak, definitely one of the best I have had. The next time I had fish, it was cooked pretty well but I it was too bland for me. They have complimentary candies which were pretty good too. And Its defintely worth the money for the ambieance, service and great food. Ideal place for a date !

We went here for my birthday; we are a young couple so spending this kind of money on one meal, well it better be memorable. Too bad I wasn't impressed much. My husband had made reservations for 8:00pm; we were on time but still waited for about 10 minutes before getting to a table. They were not packed the night we went. Why we waited that long I have no idea. The hostess kept talking to each other like we weren't waiting there. I guess we weren't the normal people that go there. So from the start I was a little offended. But on to the restaurant, it is gorgeous and the revolving thing is pretty cool, I had never been to one before and was really surprised to see how fast it turned. Too bad the food isn't better, this would be a great place to take people to see the river and the city lights of Louisville The start of food service was ok. We had what I would guess was a buser come and fill our water cups and give us bread. But it was a little busy and therefore noisy as he was explaining the food, all I heard was mumbling. My only thought was this poor guy must to this script of the food at every table. The waitress soon came and I guess we must have stood out...she asked us if we were celebrating anything special, we did inform her it was my birthday and a little about ourselves. She was very pleasant and nice. She took care of us the whole night- only good thing about the restaurant in my opinion. We ordered an app- foie gras with pumpkin sauce and seeds. It was good I will admit but even being young I have had better foie gras. The entrees- I ordered a steak with rosemary and tomato confit- I have had better as well. I could have made it at home and served it to a party of 8 for $25.00 My husband ordered the seafood pasta dish, he said it was alright and I tried a bit, thought it was alright too. I'm not big on wine so I just had their house merlot to go with the steaks...don't remember what it was. I think my husband ordered a couple beers. We had told the waitress that it was my birthday so they told us we got free dessert, which if it wasn't free I would have been very disappointed. It was some kind of chocolate cake that they pour rum over and then light it on fire so you are supposed to oh and aww over it. Sorry just isn't my thing. If the thing doesn't taste good the show isn't worth it. Sadly all I could taste was rum and more rum. I like rum just not when it ruins a perfectly good chocolate cake for show So all in all I was not impressed with this place. Would have to say that you pay for the experience and not the food, the experience was great, other than the weird waiting to get to our table. If you want to save yourself the money, go to the Galt house take the elevator to the top of the hotel then look out the big windows and you can see all the pretty night lights and that is FREE! Oh, one more thing that kind of turned me off- the website DOES say dressy. but i think we were the only ones dressy. there we many people in like saturday weekend wear eating there.

MR says... MRS says... we went to have sunday brunch and its ok. there isn't a wide variety of food. its simply a regular sunday brunch menu: breakfast selection: pancakes, sausages, bacon, made to order eggs (including omelette's), potpies lunch selection: pot roast, porkchops, grilled chicken with angel hair type pasta, friend catfish, sweet peas a variety of cheese (american, swiss, cheddar), veggies (broccoli, celery, carrots, cauliflower, tomatoes) a variety of desserts from cheescakes, fruits, chocolate fountain, cookies and pies
(3)Ford H.
I love Rivue! It's my favorite place to go in Louisville for a special evening. From the moment the elevator doors open, greeting you with piano music, you feel like your are having a well deserved treat! I love the bar area, very sophisticated with great bartenders. From the moment you are greeted by your host, the service is impeccable. The food, from appetizer to dessert (I especially love the candy bar) is beautifully presented and everything I have had there has been delicious! Of course, it's the atmosphere and view that really put Rivue "over the top"! The great service and food make the full experience the best of Louisville!
(5)Rhea P.
Top of the Galt House hotel. If you're looking for modern, hip decor and a bathroom that will wow you, this is the place to go! Very trendy place to meet for drinks and conversation. The dining room has fantastic views of the city and at dinner we rotated completely at least twice. I was really surprised at how quickly we rotated during a dinner. The food, if you're serious about it may be a great to you. I'm a vegetarian and for me, not so many choices and the food was just ok. I remember the decor, but the food--not so much.

Pretend 5- Star. Really a 3.5 Star. There are so many things that could easily make this restaurant a 5-Star restaurant. 5 Stars: Waiter service is excellent. The view of the water and the city lights. The revolving dining rooms. The individual bread service. You get your own plate with a dollop of butter, topped with a roasted garlic clove and pesto. The waiter/bread server offers you a choice of hard outside/soft inside whole wheat or white with rosemary and potato. The Peruvian Purple Potatoes in the "Rivue Salad." They taste like Chestnuts. The Tynhenian Sea Bass entree. They claim it's NOT Chilean Sea Bass (because they're near extinction.) But I beg to differ. I know Chilean Sea Bass when I eat it. It's like Butter. And regular Sea Bass is NOT. Incredible dish sauteed with Asian style vegetables. The De Loach Sonoma Valley Californian Pinot Noir wine. @ $7.00/glass you should order a few. Or go for the bottle. It's worth it. Smooooooothe operator. 4 Stars: The decor. Black and White. Very refined and modern retro. Unique light fixtures. This place could use some extra accent colors. Perhaps in their napkins. Or in their flowers- like purple lilacs or orange poppies. The complimentary candy/dessert cart. Jelly beans, chocolates and some peanut praline thing. This is a nice gesture but the "desserts" are just not that good. 3 Stars: The jumbo scallops appetizer. Very fresh, nice scallop taste with 3 different sauces. Quite a but of sand, however, in the scallops. The white colored wine menus and seats should be cleaned more regularly to remove the black specs of g-d knows what all over them. It looks like dirt. I know it's not. But the white is so dramatic that any dark color will really stand out. And it does here. 2 Stars: The Cornish hen entree which comes with undercooked, hard brown rice and lentils. Nowhere on the menu did it say the lentils would be served with ANISE SEED. That means licorice. YUCK! I couldn't even eat that part of the meal. Nobody cleans the crumbs off your table between courses. A little too bright for romance. Candle was out for at least 10 minutes. We had to ask for it to be re-lit.
(3)Jon N.
The food is very good, but the view is what you're really paying for when you dine at Rivue. They have two rotating rooms with beautiful views of Louisville. Excellent service and good drinks here, too. The candy cart is a fun and nice touch.
(4)Colin C.
The wife and I visited on a November night before the Holidays. On top of the Galt House with two rotating carousels (and a number of tables in the middle of the restaurant for those of you who just want to eat and not spin.) Enjoyed the modern decor and feel of the place. Had the Scallops and Jumbo Shrimp to get things started. Both were absolutely incredible. I went with the filet and the wife had the Capelli D'Angelo. Excellent cut perfectly prepared. The wife savored every bite of hers. I tried the chocolate lava cake for desert. Desert was about a 6 out of 10 - more just because my expectations were high and the desert was good at best. Perfect choice for a nice romantic dinner out. Enjoy!
(5)James S.
An outstanding place to dine. Excellent food, great wait staff and lots of fun. Always ask for a window seat so you can see the beautiful view of Louisville.
(5)David E.
Great view...and that's about all. A rotating restaurant on top of the historic Galt house, offering a spectacular view of the river (get it?), and nothing else. Upon our entrance, we were instantly struck by the gaudy decor reminiscent of some coke-addled 1980's NYC nightclub. Service was slow, and uncharismatic. While the appetizer and salad were decent, the pork chop was one of the most inedible concoctions I've ever come across. After about 5 minutes of trying to resign myself to the item I had chosen, I finally gave up and requested a different dish. While the manager eventually acquiesced, it was only after several minutes of attempting to convince me that I was a poor judge! The hen that I ordered to replace it was at least palatable, although entirely uninteresting. There are plenty of spectacular restaurants in downtown Louisville to choose from, but if you insist on/are forced into coming here, try to limit yourself to just ordering drinks and savoring the view. The food is okay, but certainly nowhere near worth the price.
(2)Michelle M.
The food and atmosphere amazing! I had veal schnitzel YUMMMY! Our server EVAN was amazing! The piano player played our Motown requests. Fun!!!
(5)Kent H.
I had the Christmas Day Brunch here. The view was really nice, but the food was just okay. Very attentive service.
(3)Ray M.
We booked this restaurant to celebrate a birthday with an elegant dining experience. We were not disappointed. Our waiter, Amir, took great time and care with serving us, everything we wanted. He described all the menu items with detail and helped with his personal suggestions/favorites. The food was excellent. The view from the rotating dining area was a highlight of the experience as well. When you plan to have a high end, expensive, dining experience such as this, you expect excellence in food preparation, appearance and service. The Rivue Restaurant did not fail us! We hope To return again to enjoy another excellent gourmet dining experience.
(5)Nick H.
I went here a couple weeks ago for my GF's grandparent's anniversary. I can honestly not put into words the dining experience to do it justice. They have two dining areas which rotate, allowing a great panoramic of downtown Louisville (it can be a bit disorienting at first, but you quickly get used to it). We had a full course meal including appetizers such as a cheese plate and crab cakes. I got a bone in sirloin, which was cooked to perfection. The creme bur-lee for desert was the kicker. Even if you don't order desert, they will still bring a cart of sweets free of charge. I look forward to another visit soon.
(5)Bob T.
Came here to experience a culinary experience in an exciting atmosphere, (revolving restaurant). Not only were we not seated in one of the two revolving sections we were facing the downtown roof tops instead of the river view. Then there was the extra loud piano player. The sweet potato casserole and dressing were wonderful. Limited selection of desserts but I am guessing they think we will be full already. It was a buffet so we didn't expect much in service and that's about what we got.
(2)Shannon F.
This restaurant is amazing and I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a romantic evening and an AWESOME steak. We came here 2 nights ago for my friend's wedding rehearsal dinner. We sat in the special rotating room which is SO COOL and has an awesome view. We had a set menu that included a salad (so delicious), 4 entrees to choose from, and a creme brulee style pudding with biscotti for dessert. Almost everyone ordered the new york strip and I have to tell you that I am not exaggerating when I tell you it was literally one of the best steaks I have ever had, ever. And I love steak. It came with a dollop of something that was like a chipotle polenta cream, and fried onions on top as well. Holy hell it was heavenly. The mashed potatoes on the side were perfect too. I ordered it medium rare and it actually came out perfect!!! They do not overcook it- you will get it as you order it. The service was friendly and the decor of the place is really wonderful. Definitely come here!!! And if you don't order the steak then you should have your head examined.
(5)Ellie S.
Favorite restaurant... anywhere... hands down. Love the atmosphere, the view from the revolving top, the drinks, and the food. Best brunch buffet ever. Perfect.
(5)Irnela S.
For the prices they charge you'd think the food would be amazing. I guess the view kind of makes up for their food not being up to par.
(3)Liz L.
Pretty cool place- food is good- you can overlook city and sit in an area that spins around slowly while you eat. Was very touristy since its in the galt house but it was nice to see what it was about. Food was pretty good but nothing to write home about.
(3)Terry C.
Enjoyed dinner at Rivue, had the Ribeye, my wife had the Filet, both were excellent. They had a Valentines meal for two that she liked but I didn't, they were very accommodating and willing to do it for one providing her the soup and dessert with the meal, which is something you don't find at many finer restaurants. The view of course was gorgeous and our server was absolutely hilarious and made it an even more enjoyable evening, I like to have someone that will talk and interact with us rather than a "stuffed shirt" server. Dessert was fabulous, and then they also provided a complementary dessert tray where you could choose a chocolate covered strawberry, some other caramels and chocolates all of which made the meal even more decadent. I wish there was an option for 1/2 stars, I'd go 4 1/2 versus 4 if it were possible.
(4)Janet V.
Thanksgiving dinner at Rivue was amazing. Turkey and all the trimmings served family style with lots of leftovers to take home. Our party of two was served a whole turkey which was carved table side. The view is wonderful as the restaurant rotates during your dining experience. Steven was fabulous. A great alternative to shopping, cooking and cleaning up a large dinner. We would definitely recommend the Thanksgiving experience.
(5)Tra B.
Have to Update even though I wasn't there! Big Cheers and two thumbs up to Carlos I think was his name and Chef Gabriel. My bff went bac to kentucky tis past wknd for her daughters graduation and had Great Service fri night from their Server who then mentioned our past experience to Chef Gabriel whom she said came out/ gave them his full hospitality and treatment giving them a memorable ocassion making the graduate feel even more special. Thank you Guys, much appreciation.
(4)Sean H.
Sadly, if it weren't for the view, and a captive audience that doesn't know about nearby alternatives, they'd go out of business. Okay food, but significantly overpriced. Next time I'll skip ... lots of better food for half the price within 4 blocks.
(2)Bill S.
This is the place for a great view of the city, good food and wonderful service. Unfortunately my wife.and I only received two out of three! The view was impressive, as we had a table in the revolving part of the restaurant, the food was very good as I expected. The service....well it was on par if we were eating at a Waffle House! We had to ask for a glass of water, had to ask for bread and even had to ask for a fork! The server didn't go over the menu and in fact, when I asked her about the" duck" she stated she did not eat meat as she was a vegetarian and would not know if it was good or not. The server never checked if our meals were to our liking, never asked if we wanted any more wine, never really paid any attention to us at all. She just kind of disappeared. I even had to ask a busboy for a glass of water. Even this simple task was messed up, as he gave me a glass of tea instead of water! We were highly disappointed.
(2)Michael A.
Great views, great service. Pasta and veal dishes both great. Candy cart a nice touch. Would return. Hidden gem!
(4)Ashley C.
Love this place! Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was excellent. I've eaten here several times but what really impressed me, was how they treated my 10 year old daughter. I took her here the night of the Taylor Swift concert as a girls night out kind of thing, so she could feel special. Our waiter was wonderful, joking around with us, talkative and friendly. She is actually somewhat of a picky eater and he got her to try scallops and she LOVED them! We will definitely continue to dine here :)
(5)Quyet L.
The food is pretty good. The view, ambiance, and service is impeccable. A little pricy. But a great place to impress a date.
(4)Melissa E.
The food was absolutely amazing, and I thought the prices were about right for the excellent quality. My husband had the lamb and I had the pasta dish, and both were very yummy. Our server was very attentive, and the views made this a really special evening for us. We had the lamb and a pasta dish, both of which were delightful. The night we came, it wasn't very crowded, and our server gave us good advice about which dishes were yummy. I especially enjoyed my blueberry mousse, and the complimentary chocolate covered strawberries. I was impressed with this restaurant, and will definitely go again the next time we're in Louisville. I'm surprised there are so many mixed reviews. Not a single complaint from me. Although I will say, my husband and I were a little bit high on the knowledge that we had a whole evening to ourselves WITHOUT our two children. :)
(5)Ladesha N.
The waitress was outstanding...the view was nice...the food was tasty and the atmosphere was very comfortable and classy....i absolutely loved it. The food was quite affordables well.
(4)Jaime H.
I love this restaurant. One of my favorites in Louisville. Gorgeous views of the city from the revolving top floor of the Galt House, brilliant service, and incredible food. I would highly recommend this to Louisville natives and out of town visitors.
(5)Janis C.
So it's Derby Season, and though it's understandable that the hotels in Louisville are busy, the Galt House, which proclaims its historic stature and southern hospitality, fails to live up to its name on such an important weekend. I am giving out my first one star review for their restaurant, Rivue. Horrible service. I called in on a Sunday morning at eight thirty am before heading out for brunch. I was told only the manager could take reservations so I was transferred four times. The manager did not answer the phone and I left a voicemail. The restaurant does not open til ten, so I didn't take the transfers and the absence as a warning. The manager did not call me back. So when it was a little past ten, I called in once more, got transferred again but to no avail because the manager still did not pick up the phone. Despite the disappointment, my friends and I decided to stick to our plan to go anyways since it was a beautiful day for a brunch with a view and my friends have never been there. Wrong decision. When we arrived on the 25th floor at eleven thirty, the revolving area was booked but there were tables available at the entrance. Nonetheless, hoping for some luck, I immediately told the receptionists about my voicemail experience with the manager and asked for a table for three. The male receptionist instantly stated with a stuck up air that he is the manager and that he DOES NOT CHECK VOICEMAIL. I was confused at that point. If he does not check voicemail and was away from his desk, then what was the transfers all about? Did he not care? The manager does not care. Since we were already there, we told the manager that we can take the table at the entrance area. He did nothing to call the server to clear the table. We had to ask the server ourselves. Then I asked the manager if he'll be leading us to the table, he replied we can seat ourselves. It made me wonder if I was at Golden Corral. Under-trained staff. As my friends and I waited to seat ourselves, I asked the female receptionist how much it was per person in case there was a price increase. With exhausted eyes and unconcerned attitude, she responded to my surprise it was 24 dollars per adult to which I remembered was supposed to be 27 per adult. And I was right! I should've argued for it when I was paying! Paper chasers. Before I continue, I have to say our server Michael was doing a wonderful job serving my friends and I. He was attentive enough that I got at least three coffee refills after my meal. Especially when I took out my coupon from restaurant.com , Michael was quick to process it. However, his good intentions was hindered by the absence of the manager who could only do the approval for the coupon. What our server did was only charge us for two people out of three. Our coupon was 25 bucks and we get to have 2 dollars discount! Good for him! Unfortunately, the absence of the manager still caused problems regarding payment. After getting my card swiped for forty minutes and my friends and I were getting ready to leave, our server came by and notified me that they would need to swipe my card again to resolve an issue in the system. A supervisor was trying to get hold of the manager who was nowhere to be seen. I sat there for nearly ten minutes until the server said that they'll resolve the issue with their manager later themselves and that I could leave. Bad Rivue. What an unforgettable brunch that involved the manager from beginning to end. Great venue, hearty food, but horrible, terrible, no good, very bad management and team.

4.5 stars may be more accurate, but I'm rounding up because I really don't think this is a 3-star restaurant! In fact, Rivue was just what the doctor ordered for a first impression on me of Louisville. Our waitress was incredibly nice and even given our table size (9 people) she didn't miss a beat. I got the New York Strip but asked to substitute the setup (sauce, goat cheese, etc) that came with the Filet. No problem! I also told her I like a true medium rare and wanted to know if they tend to overcook to be safe. She advised me it's possible and she put me in as "rare." Great advice as it came out perfectly to my liking. The cocktails were decent and honestly unremarkable. I don't like lemon twists in my manhattan (didn't know that was standard. Just the cherries, please), so that kind of spoiled drink. My old fashioned came out a little better. For attire, a button-down and chinos is more than sufficient. People were getting away in jeans, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want to be certain you're at least of average attire. It's part of a hotel, so I think people believe they can just swing through in whatever.

Rivue is the perfect place for a special occasion or romantic dinner. It would also be a great place to show out-of-towners a wonderful view of the river and downtown area via the revolving room. The black and white décor is very elegant with white orchids in the lobby and a very talented pianist who played flawlessly for hours without a break. It took me a few minutes to understand the quirky humor of the bartender and our server but I soon warmed to them and we had excellent, attentive service. The menu is not extensive but there is something for everyone. We did not have a salad or appetizer which was a good choice because the entrée and dessert were more than sufficient. My duck breast was a perfect medium rare and served with a smear of sweet potato and roasted brussel sprouts. They could have been more generous than 4 brussel sprouts and a decoration of sweet potato which contributed to a less than 5 star rating. My companion had the NY Strip which was a little past the medium he ordered. A generous portion of mashed potatoes came with the strip. They had amazing bread and flavored butters. The peanut butter sofrito with chocolate sauce and peanut brittle was the best dessert I have had in some time. The pana cotta with raspberry sauce was also wonderful. There may be other excellent restaurants in Louisville with lower prices, but they don't have the atmosphere and view you get at Rivue.

By FAR the BEST Sunday brunch in town. Great atmosphere - definitely order up some waffles - you'll be glad you did. Come on a regular Sunday (not a Mother's Day or something similar) and the price is very reasonable. Also we've been with our under-2 year old several times and he always ate free.

To call this a dining experience would be selling our evening here short! This was more like a dining extravaganza! Andre our server was awesome and te meal was superb! The view here is the best way to experience the beauty id Louisville! Native of Louisville or not this is a place you want to experience!

This is the premier restaurant in the Galt House Hotel and it is priced accordingly. It's a rotating top floor place with two sections that rotate while a center section stays still. We were seated in the stationary part, which was probably good, as the rotators were going at a good clip and looked a little dizzying. One rotator section was filled with a wedding party and they were really, really loud. We were greeted by our waiter for was friendly and meant well, but who was not ready for prime time. He was more "Ruby Tuesday" than fine dining and had limited knowledge of the wines and even some of the dishes. We did eventually find a very nice wine after he ran into the bar to find out what blend it was. We started with the table side poured lobster bisque. I love a good bisque. He put the dishes down and they had a lovely center pile of lobster and some fresh veggies. Then he poured the soup from an adorable copper ramekin pot into the chic triangle bowls. The problem was, the shallow broad bowls allowed the heat to dissipate too quickly, turning our soup tepid immediately and cold by the time we got to the last bite. Sigh. We did quite enjoy the fresh bread with flavored butter. We both ordered fish dishes. Mine had a meat-inclusive side dish and so I substituted in a veggie friendly mushroom option, which added $3 to my bill. The fish was okay to start out with, but toward the middle got unacceptably raw. Not a fan. My mom's was a special, which she enjoyed, but didn't find extraordinary in any way. Dinner is followed up by a candy cart which they bring to the table. There was a good brittle on there, but as it was toward the end of the night the cart was messy and the choices were somewhat limited. I'm kind of sad to have wasted an evening here. I should have braved the rain and tried something good. Ah, well. I'll know next time.

I was NOT impressed with anything about this place except how long it took the waiter to do everything... We had an appetizer (which sucked) It was some sampler or some other.. I had a salad for dinner and it was ok... kind of a waldorf-ish thing. I ordered dessert, I don't even remember what it was. Then we asked for the check, the waiter took like 15 minutes to bring around a candy cart (though I had just had dessert) and then took another 15 minute to bring the check. It look over 3 hours..... we rotated around the room like 6 times... over it.

The prime rib was the best my wife or I have EVER had! It was juicy and melted in your mouth...I hardly had to chew. The desert, which was a white chocolate jello with a raspberry drizzle was also amazing! Our waiter was great and the atmosphere was as well. I definitely play on going back!

Where do I begin?!? We came during the Kentucky Derby and there was a prix fix menu at 195$ a person. When making the reservation they did not mention this. We had a phenomenal table that was in the area that rotated with a fantastic view. The food awful! Sent the chicken back because it was cold, the ribeye was under cooked, the pea soup was the best thing! It took over 2 hours and we skipped the desert since we had to be somewhere after. Slow, slow service and by the time we left the restaurant was completely empty. Great martinis but big deal. The manager did comp two meals after we complained which was very gracious. Hope they get their act together, there's potential.

Staying at Galt House for the week on biz. Terribly cold so trying not to go outside (have to walk) for dinner. Went to 25th floor for dinner at Rivue at the Galt House. Lets get curb appeal out of the way...the place is gorgeous and swanky, and cant imagine there is a better view in the city. So lets talk about the food. I elected to pick on a few small plates. I first ordered the Rivue Salad, which was nicely done with aquaponically grown greens, pickled carrots, tomato, locally made cheese and just a slight touch of a Garlic Vinaigrette. I then moved on to a Mushroom Bisque, which may be the best soup I've ever had. it is fresh, hearty and could serve as a meal unto itself. I finished with the standard crabcakes. These are 90% crab and 10% cake, and very high quality dungeness topped with julienne yellow beets and apples with a very smooth and sweet pepper aioli and chili oil. Oh and I got all of this and a high end bourbon for $40. Best money I've spent on a meal in a long time. So I engaged the server in conversation and came to find out that the Exec Chef is new and came from the 4 Seasons in DC....it shows up in the quality

Overall, was impressed after my visit, ...especially after reading the reviews below! -It's clear that everything is made with great detail and consideration. All the details from the garnishes to the main features were seasoned well and everything tasted good collectively. -I enjoyed all of the small touches; the butter plate was garnished with extras, a great selection of hand-made breads, and the candy and chocolate cart had a great selection of different items -Clean, classy, and not very busy + live piano on Friday nights. Great music and great view! -I didn't love that they didn't have a cocktail menu featured, but the food made up for it.

If it weren't for the view I don't think this restaurant would stay in business. The food is not very exciting. (I had the bone in Filet which was overdone the first time, the second one lacked any real flavor) I ordered for my appetizer, Carpaccio and instead of being thinly sliced, it was thick with fat throughout. Service was so- so although the manager was concerned that my second filet was cooked to my liking. The night we went the room looked " hazy" as if the vents in kitchen were not working. Someone must have turned on the AC because it became so chilly that I had to keep my coat on my legs! However, we enjoyed the piano player and yes, the view is what keeps customers coming back.

I. Love. Rivue. Seriously. Every time I come here with my wife (we've been about six times) it is usually for a special occasion as the price is higher than most restaurants; however, you get what you pay for! Every single time service has been very good. The food is almost always excellent. The menu fluctuates, so your experience has the potential to be different nearly every time. Wine can quickly get very expensive, so keep it to one of the cheaper bottles and just go in knowing what type of wine you prefer (Riesling, Zinfandel, etc.). Chances are it'll be a good bottle. The portions look small, but are very filling. I always walk out of this place feeling stuffed! The view of Louisville is of course the main reason for coming here. At night it really is beautiful. Restrooms are elegant and spotless. Definitely worth it for an anniversary dinner or a special occasion!

I have been to Rivue several times before but since I haven't been since 2011, this review is only based on my most recent visit. My parents, boyfriend, and grandparents came here on a Thursday night to celebrate my grandparent's 60th (!) wedding anniversary. At 6:45 on a Thursday night, Rivue was not busy at all so service was attentive and fairly quick. I am not usually one for cocktails but I decided to try their Dragonberry Mojito. It was made perfectly even if it was a little light on the alcohol. For appetizers, we had the artisan cheese plate and the crab cakes. Both of the appetizers were delicious but the crab cakes were outstanding - sitting on a drizzle of delicious and spicy red pepper aioli. For my entree I chose the crispy skin duck breast and substituted the brussel sprouts for asparagus (because brussel sprouts are the devil's work!) and I could not have been happier with my choice. The duck was cooked perfectly. It was not at all greasy or gamey as duck could easily be. The view from Rivue is arguably the best in the city with 360 degree views from their rotating dining room. Additionally, they have relaxed the dress code in the last few years and no longer require a tie; I even saw a guy dining in a baseball cap which - I'm gonna sound like a snob here - I found a bit distasteful! So while Rivue is no longer a "fine dining" restaurant, I would certainly consider it "upscale casual". Bottom line: Go to Rivue now and thank me later!

Horrible service. The waitress, Kate was rude and condescending. We wanted to split the checks and she told us it would take the computer an hour to do it because it was old. She tried to get us to sit together to make it easier for her. Come on. There were only two other tables taken how hard could it be? Horrible food. The steaks were so undercooked that we wanted to call a veterinarian to see of he could revive the cow. And then we were given attitude for asking that it be cooked how we ordered it. The seafood pasta was partly cold and partly hot. It's like they grabbed some leftover shrimp from a shrimp salad and threw them in at the last minute. The view was great. That's the only good part. Oh and it took close to three hours to get our complete meal. We made six revolutions at 26 minutes each. Avoid this place.

At RIVUE, two revolving dining rooms aren't some kind of gimmick, they're a necessity. They bring a sophisticated dining experience to new heights in Louisville with breath-taking views, a swanky room and contemporary cuisine featuring a very elegant menu and top notch dining experience. On the Top of the Galt 25 floors up Friday Night Breeders Cup weekend the place is packed with Horse owners, trainers, Jockeys, and everything in between. Spectacular is the layout and the few as we are seated in one of the revolving dining rooms for our dinner tonight. Six of us to dine and after sitting being set up with water, drinks and wine we move on. Note on wine list very limited but amble suggestions for everyone. Service was someone wouldn't call it slow but the place was absolutely packed so will call it Deliberate. Andre was our waiter & he explained the various specials. Bread boys then brought out a selection of breads with various dips and or butter to choose from. Appetizers ordered: RIVUE FOR TWO Alaska king crab legs, oysters on the half shell, jumbo shrimp, house-made cocktail salsa, and horseradish cream, A SPRING LEEK, & POTATO BISQUE Shitake chips, truffle oil 8, a LIMESTONE BIBB SALAD Grateful Greens lettuce, St André cheese crouton, hazelnuts, shaved cipollini onions, poached pears, And white wine vinaigrette. 8. BABY WEDGE SALAD Baby iceberg lettuce, Maytag Bleu cheese, apple wood bacon dust, oven dried tomato, creamy herbed buttermilk dressing. 9 And a RIVUE SALAD Baby mixed greens; Capriole goat cheese stuffed roasted artichoke, spiced pecans, red onions, asparagus, Peruvian potatoes and lemon honey dressing 8 The salads were excellent cold fresh and very different than your standard restaurant fare. The soup was not as hot as I would have liked and a little lacking in flavor. The Rivue For two fish selection was good until someone caught a bad oyster which is never good. The General Manager was immediately on top of this and removed the entire item off our bill. Entrées were as follows. NY STRIP White cheddar & pimento, port wine sauce, Parsley potatoes $34 truly one of the outstanding dishes on the table if not anywhere. Whatever sauce they concocted to give this that little extra umph along with the great quality and preparation of the steak made this a 10 out of 10 on my scale. SHRIMP AGLIO Linguine, garlic, broccoli raab, fennel sausage, pecorino cheese, white wine $25. Ample jumbo shrimp mixed in a white cream type sauce that was fresh, tasty and very rich. PORK CHOP Merlot reduction, Bosc pear preserves, fingerling rounds, and Brussels sprouts with walnuts and bleu cheese $25 was a winner no matter how you look at it, hot tasty and tender for a pork chop and its presentation was a new one on me. SEAFOOD TAGLIATELLE Sautéed scallops, lobster, Dungeness crabmeat and jumbo shrimp, sherry infused Thermidor cream sauce, spinach tagliatelle pasta. $29 Was on the same scale as the other seafood pasta, creamy, rich, tasty and fresh. GROUPER Cucumber & fennel with black sesame seeds, pickled mustard seeds $32 was a nice cut of fresh fish very clean and tasty with a sauce I had never seen before. Probably the one item to skip was our 6th entrée LAMB CHOPS Buttered couscous, English pea& mint puree, rosemary demi-glaze & glazed sweet onions. $36 which were a little overcooked and well not up to snuff. Fresh pressed coffee was served tableside along with a Chocolate Lava Cake that takes 20 minutes to prepare. The meal seemed to go on forever but nobody left disappointed. Probably a 3.5 stars here but we don't have 1/2 stars on Yelp so knocks for Lamb Chops and the Oyster issue, but the Management and staff were exceptional in resolving this. Without question a repeat when in Downtown Louisville, and if you have never been here make the effort.

Rivue is located on the 25th floor of the Galt hotel. Our wonderful concierge at the Marriott got us a reservation in the revolving portion restaurant, near the window, around sunset. We got an incredible panoramic view of Louisville, including the Ohio River and the Big Four Bridge. The food was good, but pretty expensive. You get complimentary chocolate after your meal. The service was also good. This place is good for a romantic date.

Worst Easter Brunch I EVER had!!!!!!! I come here pretty often..No selection what so ever!! I had to get breakfast since there wasn't a selection at the Buffett .. They couldn't even melt the cheese on my omelet .. Waffles were cold., Prime Rib was disgusting .. They didn't even have Au Ju for the meat .. Only thick wine sauce.. PITIFUL!!!! I WILL NOT be back!!!!!! Total waste of money!

I definitely recommend brunch here. Array of fruit, breakfast entrees and lunch entrees. Choices of omelet ingredients and scrumptious waffles. Handles large groups quite well and the view from the 25th floor is captivating. 1st time and will go back.
