OK, this little place, and I do mean little as barely three people can be inside at a time has a certain charm. The menu is simple, Burgers, Dogs, and Fries. The burger was good and well seasoned, but really nothing special. The fries were top notch, with seasoning that makes them a little addicting. So why only one star? The two times I have been there the service has been rude, and not just normal fast food rude, but the special kind of rudeness that happens when a person or business begins to believe that their customers are an inconvenience to them. In addition to being rude from the very start, they also shorted me a burger on my my order, even though they write the order on the bag for all to see. When I realized I was a burger short, I came back in and politely informed the counter person of the shortage and was rebuffed by the surly lady who clearly indicated that she believed I was lying about being shorted and refused to even consider that they had made a mistake. Not having the time time or patience to argue any further over a $2.70 burger, I left and vowed to never return. I did try contacting somebody in charge the next day, but received no return call. This little place had potential, but I can't deal with rudeness and I certainly don't appreciate getting shorted and them being called a liar when I try to have the mistake corrected. You have been warned!!!

Always amazingly delicious!!!

I used to love the fries from here. The burgers were nothing special but the fries were the BOMB! Not so much anymore. They seem saltier, greasier than I remember. Or maybe my palate has just grown up a bit.

One of a kind burger spot in Louisville. My recommendation is the Ollieburger cooked medium and fries with extra seasoning. Difficult to put into words my attraction, just go for it!

My office used to be across the street. Best greasy lunch spot in town. And I do mean greasy, you get it to go, it seeps grease through the bag. Everything is good, I generally get the Ollieburger dressed with cheese, fries and a cup of the sauce for delicious dipping of fries. Coworkers swear by the dogs, I had a chili-dog once and it was pretty good. We now have to drive from the office and we do make the pilgrimage every couple months. Tomorrow anyone?

While I was visiting my gf's family in Louisville, she brought this place up and we decided to all go. Now all I had was the fries but such fries they were. absolutely awesome seasonings on them, I will be returning every time we visit this fine city.

I started going to Ollie's Trolley back in the 70's. I still go back there wien I get back to Louisville. I love all the spices that they have on their burgers and fries. It's very unique. There is nothing like it here in San Diego.

My new favorite burger joint in Louisville. A real burger that has amazing flavor and the seasoning is perfect. Would recommend if not counting calories.

Good golly, I love Ollie's Trolley. Okay, that was a bit excessive. What is not excessive, though, is the fact that this little burger stand is out-of-this-world good. I hate to admit the fact that I lived in Louisville (and drove by it countless times) over 7 years before a friend wanted to go there one day. I'm so glad I obliged. The fries, oh the fries. They are so tasty. Seasoned just right, they are the perfect pairing to the Ollie Burger. I like to get the Ollie Burger w/ cheese dressed. It's got this sauce on it. Can't quite put my finger on what is in the sauce, but it makes everything soooooo good. Only open during the work week, Ollie's Trolley is the perfect place to grab a bite between the chaos and madness that can be M-F, 9-5. Definitely go check out this cash-only little gem.

So I live right up the road from this spot and am just now getting around to having a bite. I stopped in for an afternoon snack and decided to go with an order of the fries and an unsweet iced tea. Those fries!!! So good! The seasoning is very different from any other place I have had, anywhere! It smells so fragrant and tastes like a big mix of salt, pepper, sesame seeds, celery, some more green herbs and other things I could not pick out. These are worth the calories. I will be back very soon for more. :) it's too bad I am a vegetarian and will probably not partake in the burger...since I'm sure it's also worth a visit. Note to remember: cash only.

Stopped in for lunch. Always busy but fast and cheap. The burger and the seasoned fries were good. Be ready for cash only and they close at 4:25! Also there is no place to sit and enjoy in the shade. I heard these are the best burgers in town. I don't know about that, because I've had better, but they are pretty good.

This is one of the best place for a take out lunch. I only wish they were open o. Saturdays. I have been eating, and loving their food for 30 odd years now.

What a weird place. It has a sign on the door that says something along the lines of "please don't feed the homeless that gather around here." The burger is good - it had that nice flat-top grill old-school combination of greasy and crispy parts. The seasoned fried were unique - was that fennel, dill seed, and celery seed I tasted in there - Mmm: I am a fan of seasoned fries that aren't just garlic/salt/celery seed/pepper/paprika. The cheese on my burger was this strange whitish stuff that was thick as satan's eye-brows. It was as if they cut white-american cheese off a block extra thick for the weird new-guy.

Easy and quick! Know what you want to order and have cash in hand. You will be likely taking it to go or eating in the car in the lot across the street. Good burgers and the Ollie sauce is yummy. Get some for your fries.

This place is a must ! It is only open for lunch and they don't take plastic so don't forget to grab some cash before heading here. Can't go wrong with an Ollie burger and fries! I love the sauce on the burger and seasoning on the fries. There are only two outdoor tables for seating. We always eat in the car or grab our order on the run. Get there early, the lunch crowd lines can get long.

Hands down the best burger in Louisville. Only open for weekday lunch and only take cash but it is well worth the trip for the Ollie Burger!
(5)Keith A.
Classic Louisville burger spot. Ollie Burger with signature sauce and spices is excellent. Fries are awesome as well. Cash only and only open until 4:30. Food is always consistent. You can't go wrong with any menu item. All beef hot dog or Polish are good fare. There's always a line which is a good thing.

This odd little outpost has plenty of character and several decades of history. The food is cheap and certainly a notch above most fast food, and it's clearly popular with a lot of locals. Come here on any given weekday and there's a line out the door. Cash only. No indoor seating. But the burgers, while a little too salty and a bit dry, have girth and spice. I recently learned that the trolley is one of the few remaining of what was once a chain of 50-plus Ollie trolleys named for a Miami cook named Ollie Gleichenhaus who wasn't much of a fan of ketchup. There's apparently an Ollie's in Cincinnati, and another in D.C., but there might not be much more than that. I couldn't say if Ollie was an egomaniac, but he liked his herbs and he presumably liked them named after himself. An "Ollieburger" comes with Ollie sauce, which looks a lot like Thousand Island but has a little kick, and the Ollie fries have no shortage of seasoning either. After eating a few fries, your hand will be dotted with little green flecks. And plenty greasy. The trolley building is super cool, as are the ladies who cook it up all day in their little box. Service is very fast.

good "ollie burgers." the sauce is tasty. i can see why this place is a louisville institution. the fries were good and the price tag is fair. great local alternative to the drive thru fast food chains!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have found my favorite Louisville burger spot! The seasoned fries, the super cheap prices, the A from the health department, there is so much to like! We all had the fries, I had the Bacon Cheeseburger, and my friend had the Ollie Burger. No one was disappointed. The Ollie burger comes with a huge patty for only 2.75. The fries have a unique season salt that kept me craving more. Note: I've heard their hours can be somewhat sporadic, but that just adds to the charm!

I grew up in Louisville and was happy to be back again on a business trip. I've been thinking about Ollie's Trolly for a few years and remembering how my Dad and I used to stop by the one near the Belvedere for their burgers. I remember them being drippy and juicy and messy, and loaded with spices and flavor. Of course, that is a 9 year old's memory, but still, I'm sure they were fantastic! Being well over 40 now, times and perhaps my tastes have changed. We ordered a bag of burgers and fries to go while I was in town last week and ate at the office. Sad to say, my burger was downright dry! It was still messy, but only because it was falling apart due to a soft mushy bun trying to hold together lettuce, onion, tomato and bacon on top of the patty. But there was only a trace of their sauce on the bottom bun, which I had to search for. Juiciness was no where to be found. That unforgettable seasoning was barely detectable. Like others say, the seasoned fries have that bold seasoning that is delish, so indeed they were good. But I really missed the saucy, juicy, spicy burgers that I'll always keep fondly in my memories.

Good burger. It has a great "Soup Nazi" feel. Good stuff.

As I understand it there used to be Ollie's Trolley's in lots of locations around the city and it makes me sad that this is the only one left. What makes me even sadder than this is that I went to school right around the corner from this location for four years and never ate there once that entire time. So many wasted years! I finally made my first trip to Ollie's about ten years ago and it was the best burger I have ever put in my mouth. You can tell they are homemade patties unlike so many fast food places that bring their burgers in frozen. These are well seasoned and well cooked. Their fries also have their own unique seasoning blend on them and it is out of this world. I always get the Ollie burger with cheese. That's their claim to fame so I have never felt the need to try any of their other burgers. Besides I would not feel like I had truly been to Ollie's if I didn't have my usual. I also like the ice they use at Ollie's. Small thing I know but something about it makes the coke even better. Overall I would eat Ollie's daily if I could but unfortunately I just can't make that happen. As for some of the negative reviews I've seen on here I could not disagree more. In all of the times I have been to Ollie's over the years I have never had a bad experience!

Having to drive from Indy to Louisville to get home to Miami yesterday after the Super Bowl I thought I'd stop downtown and try the burger joint that I passed dozens of times when I'm in KY for the races at Churchill. First things first I didn't know this little "Trolley" was a takeout place. LOL I thought it was just a small seat diner. OK Keep it simple. An Ollie burger with Cheese, Seasoned fries. Fries were good, burger was simply nothing special. Certainly not a step up from even 5 Guys and sorry to say many a fast food place have this place beat. Sorry Louisville I really expected more.

Damn, this place is still around!!!! Greasy burgers and some fattening fries for your pleasure!
(3)Chris C.
Best burgers in Louisville.
(5)Katie G.
Waited in line ....no biggie. Soup Nazi type order taker....I was ready!! Cash only....bummer but not the end of the world. Fries good. But apparently you have to special request the Ollie sauce on a dressed burger? Seriously. So my sauce less burger was a disappointment.

Craving a burger and I decided to try Ollie's trolley. I'm a plain Jane kind of burger eater. I got the half pound bacon cheeseburger. Kind of old school burger. If you are from southern Indiana it kind of reminded me of a ranch house burger. It's closed so I went here. Pretty similar in taste. Got a bag of fries. No this is where it differs. Steak fries at ranch house were the bomb. Ollie's has seasoned fries. Not like rallys. These have a little kick. Totally new taste so thumbs up.

I've driven by Ollie's 10000 times and always thought I needed to stop by but it took me more than 5 years to finally do it. I was craving a chili dog and french fries and after checking the yelp reviews decided to head to Old Louisville for lunch. My husband ordered a 1/4 lb cheeseburger that I will say was quiet good, but I couldn't even bring myself to take a single bite of the chili dog. The hot dog was fried resulting in a soggy bun and the chili looks like refried beans and tastes like it came from a gas station. The fries have a strange seasoning that some might enjoy, but they weren't from me. I'd probably return for an Ollie burger, but I'll definitely have to mark them off the list when I'm craving a chili dog. If only I could get Dairy Kastle to carry french fries all my chili dog woes would be solved. The struggle is real.

Ollie burger and fries, please. If you're from Louisville, you've probably seen Ollie's Trolley on the corner of 3rd and Kentucky. However, for me, I saw it my entire life and didn't actually visit until about 5 years ago. It's a shame it took that long! Ollie's is very much a dive--if you can call it that--in the most loving sense. It's the size of a trolley, so if there's a line, you'll wait outside until you go in, order at the first window, and then wait for your order at the second window in a cramped area. Then you step back into the great big world with your brown paper sack containing your greasy lunch in-hand. Then you see if you can take it to your destination without eating every single fry. Heck, you may need to plop down on a nearby bench and devour it immediately. I strongly recommend buying the fries; they're a good size (I'm weird about thickness/size of fries.) and seasoned in.... actual seasons! I'm not even sure what other restaurants to which I can compare. For the burgers, you must get a variety of Ollie's, which comes with the Ollie's Sauce. Not even sure what it is, but it's good. You can buy more of it with a small fee, if need be. As every one else has said, cash-only here! So have some money in your grubby little hands. Also, they aren't open on weekends, so you have to come by on a weekday to take advantage of their tastiness. My mom once told me there used to be multiple Ollie's Trolley locations around Louisville. Now we're down to just this one; I believe there are only 3 or so locations left in the nation. So appreciate this gem and chow down!
