Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

If I could give negative stars. I would. I really wish this was one of those times I would have looked at the previous reviews before we decided to late night dine here. We decided it felt great outside so we would sit out instead of the inside dining room. It wasn't bad out there at first. The host sat us down, told us who our waiter would be and that he'd bring silverware and napkins. Cool. Not problem. Host left, waiter came, got our drink orders, which took a little longer than I would have thought. At this point, still no utensils nor napkins. Ok. By the time our pizza arrived my drink was almost empty. I had a few sips left, but he never offered to refill it. The next time he came out, I did flag him down and ask him for a refill. During this time he walked in and out of the restaurant 3 times. All the while talking to his "buddies." Oh yea, I forgot to mention, about 10 minutes into us getting there, about 6 of the workers walked out. Took their server shirts and aprons off with their regular shirts on underneath and sat there just chillin. Maybe they were off work (but who the hell wants to stay at work when you are off?) Or maybe they were on break (but what establishment lets employees go out with the customers, start smoking, and conversing with the staff that is actually supposed to be working?) I'm at a loss. So, back to my refill dilemma. Like I said he walked in and out three times. All the time talking to his "buddies", smiling, laughing, and just chillin. Also brought them drinks at freaking lightening speed. I mean, shit, I just want something to drink before I die on this dry ass pizza that had very minimal pizza sauce on it. Just sayin! Damn! I never got my refill. I finally flagged him down, he says "oh your drink". I told him don't worry about it at this point, just get me a to go cup, a box, and my ticket. I asked my husband if he was ok because I was going in to find the manager, which I did. Let me say, I try to NEVER complain. And, I always give a great tip. More than I should most times. I just couldn't do it this time. If he was just a flighty person and forgetful, sure. But, he was so far up his buddies ass to worry about making any money or servicing the patrons, I refused to give a tip. The manager was absolutely wonderful though and apologized a million times for the treatment we received. We didn't get a free meal out of this and I thought that wouldn't be right. We still ate, so I felt we should pay. However, the manager did give us a couple for a future $25 off a meal, but I won't be back to use it. With all the food offerings in our great city, I don't want to chance another bad experience when I can have something delicious as well as great service.

Been here several times before and I can tell it's not up to par as before. Today we got the buffet. They are not busy at all and there were no pizzas ready/ replenished on the buffet table, Kinda aggravating. The server was nice as can be with a great attitude and smile. The server tried to keep me informed when replenished items were up, no complaints there. The buffet offers 3-4 pizzas (type of pizza changes daily) and 2 other speciality items (today was garlic bread, mini Sicilian pepperoni rolls and some type on sliced sandwich). At the end of your feast, you get a chocolate chip cookie. The buffet runs from 11:00a to 1:30p Mon.-Fri. and 11:00a to 3:00p Sat.-Sun. and costs $7.79 for adult and $4.59 for kids.

Good food. Nothing spectacular but definitely above average. It's not "true" Chicago pizza, but I think the pizza is very good. I've tried lots of menu items and would suggest sticking with the pizza-type items. Avoid the sandwiches/burgers as they're pretty bad. Their lunch buffet is a great deal, and allows you to try a variety of items. The buffet is well stocked, with many options in addition to pizza (pepperoni rolls, breadsticks, etc). Additional things to note: Huge beer selection, fun atmosphere, and they're open pretty late for the area. It's a great place to come for beer with friends and enjoy a game. The service can be spotty. I've had good servers, and very bad servers. Overall, pretty typical for a chain restaurant.

This place is definitely one of the top three pizza establishments in the Kentuckiana area. I loved the crispy bottom of the thick pizza and the appetizers were amazing. I could have made a meal of the three appetizer sampler. They have 150 different beers to try as well.

Seeking a sit down pizza place while in this area, we decided to what we thought would be settling for Old Chicago. Best pizza decision we have made in awhile. Since I was on crutches I asked the hostess for a close table. She sat us at a booth both close to the door and restroom. I appreciate her foresight! Big Mike was our waiter and could answer every question about the menu we posed. Both friendly and attentive, he got a nice tip. We both ordered a create your own 8" pizza. No having to compromise on what you REALLY want and small enough for one person yet plenty for a hearty appetite. Full bar too!

Always love the food at Old Chicago but our service last time there was not good. Would have rated a lot lower but the management adjusted the ticket which was appropriate. We certainly don't normally get bad service at Old Chicago but it is refreshing when the management does what they can to make it right!! #1worldtour

Good food-Bad service!!! We got the Grinder Chicago style pizza and it was delicious! Had to wait a long time to be seated and then another 10-15 minutes to be acknowledged at our table. After that service was okay.

I want to give Old Chicago 4 stars because I really love their food, but the service that my fiance and I had a few days ago was horrible. We came here for some drinks and pizza after meeting with our wedding DJ. We were seated promptly and then it all went to hell. After waiting for about 7 minutes, we were finally greeted by another waiter who told us who our waitress was and that she would be by to greet us soon. She was at the table next to us talking to a couple of frat boys and when she finally came to our table she didn't greet us at all, she just asked if we knew what we wanted. Our drinks, appetizer and pizza were all brought out by different people. Why? Because our waitress was sitting in the booth behind us talking to some friends of hers. I don't mean that she was sitting for just a couple of minutes but she was sitting there the ENTIRE time we ate. She did jump up every time she noticed someone else bringing us our items but she would immediately sit back down. My fiance and I believe in always tipping and we usually tip well but we honestly struggled to give this girl even 10%! Bottom line: The food is good but the service is seriously hit or miss. I really should have called management the next day.

Really like the build your own pasta and the pizzas are good as well. some times the wait staff is a little inattentive even in slow times.. but its to be expected ini any place..
(4)Nick H.
I love their food, and usually have good service. However, I went several days ago with my fiancé and the service was horrible. Our server had another server "helping" her, which basically came down to her helper taking care of our drink orders and bring our food to us (he was awesome) while she sat with two her friends talking. She pretty much only came to us or the table across from us after someone else had already come by. Again, I would have loved to give them a high score, but this was not a good dining experience. Hopefully our next visit will be better.
(3)Kathy V.
Pretty good food. Nice late night happy hour specials. Service was very slow and several times forgot to bring the beer that was ordered. They have a beer club/birthday special thing you can sign up for.
(3)Mike C.
I really want to like this place. They have a very diverse and interesting menu in a fun atmosphere. The food is great and they have a good setup to watch football games. If they could just figure out how to provide good customer service at the bar what a beautiful thing that would be! Please find and hire a bartender who can at least pretend like they give a damn about customers and who doesn't display a sour apathetic attitude while running the bar. While you're at it maybe you could also hire a manager so your customers don't have to tell you about your uncaring service. And I really didn't appreciate smelling chemicals while eating at the bar but that strong aroma was present the entire time I was here. This has been my experience two times out of two. The food is so good I might give them one more chance! Or maybe not.
(2)Jerry M.
We love Old Chicago! I had the Chicago 7 calzone today which is great, but the Chicago Fire calzone is even better. My wife loves the spaghetti pie. I had the Bells Double Cream Stout, which is fantastic. The Italian nachos are an awesome start to the meal. Our waitress today was Nicole. She was attentive without being intrusive and took care of everything that we needed.

I travel 150 nights a year. Lots of eating out. Love OC. Great beer selection and food. Had a Stella draft and Italian Nachos and 2 topping pub pizza. It was after 10 and the apps were on special. Food and beer was good. However the bar smelled like a backed up sewer. Then the bartender poured bleach to cover the smell. So it went from a sewer smell to a bleach sewer smell. Not good.
(2)Jon L.
The overall experience was horrible. I can find the same food with better service down the road at chubby rays. It took 20 mins to get service and the server kept running off before I could finish a sentence. My advice, if u want the same quality food and drink specials but with better service, might as well go to Chubby Rays. This is the third time this has happened here.
(2)Annie S.
It really sucks giving this place only 3 stars but the truth is I NEVER... EVER get good service when I am in there UNLESS it is late at night. I continue to go back to OC b/c their pizza is AMAZING! So I sacrifice the crap service (by crap I mean some of the worst in town) because my husband and best friends like the beer selections and I LOVE their pizza. I try other pizza places (see my other reviews) and get better service but not better pizza. It is really a pain in the butt! It is also very close to my home so we go... again and again. If you can help it... only go after 10pm when the service is half way decent.
(3)Tim S.
Average pizza joint. Nothing like real deep dish Chicago pizza. Probably won't bother going back.
(3)Jason K.
Service is terriable. They are very slow and the sraff likes to "disappear" 5 minutes before happy hour, so you can not get one in before happy hour ends.
(1)Jake J.
We came here on a Saturday. I had the buffet. The food was decent, hot. My wife got. A personal size pizza and really enjoyed it. Our server was a little rude and complained about working 70 hrs this week. All in all, an ok experience. Service left much to be desired.
(3)Madison S.
The food was really good. Deep dish pizza is awesome, and it was a fun atmosphere. The best part was the beer list. There were at least 70 beers to choose from. There was such a good selection, it was difficult to choose!
(4)Tim H.
Went for pizza buffet for lunch. Hostess attended to me right away. I opted to sit in the bar, which is first come first serve. The bartender quickly waited on me. Took care of my drink request promptly, and then proceeded to talk to her friend at the bar for the next while. Did bring me one refill the The other one I had to ask for. Pizza did not seem that fresh. Crust was soggy. Tasted fine. Was supposed to get a cookie, that was never offered to me. But that's okay cause I don't think that they are that awesome anyway.

Here was my first and last experience: I ordered takeout after reading some decent reviews on Yelp because it had been a while since I'd had Chicago-style pizza. I wanted to splurge a little calorie and fat-wise and that's pretty much Chicago-style. I even was willing to drive a few extra miles just to get it instead of one from Coal's or any of the other great 1,000 pizza places in Louisville. I ordered the "Classic" with shrooms, roasted garlic, pepperoni and sausage, and asked to sub the pepperoni for basil instead. I just don't need that much meat on my pizzas. The polite lady who took the order put me on hold to ask if that was OK, which I was told it was, so I even made a comment about the change and thanked her. Drove across town and grabbed it, got home, and...no basil. Also, the box was then saturated with grease to the point the cardboard itself was floppy and wet. Probably due to what I initially thought was the double pepperoni on it. I had to check the ticket to make sure they didn't (somehow) misunderstand me, because I didn't really see much roasted garlic either, but it didn't tell me anything other than I just paid over $20 for something I didn't order. I pulled off some of the pepperoni, but couldn't eat it it was just so greasy and gross and, honestly, just tasted like a mega-greasy pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Sadly, I didn't even want to give any of it to my dog either, because I care about her health. The limited service I needed was polite, and maybe things would have been different if I dined in, but I'm not going to take my chances again. I really hate to leave a negative review, but just want to warn you with what was a disappointing experience.

I'm in Louisville for business, and I'm just now wrapping up my meal. I had an 8" individual thick crust pizza with pepperoni, sausage and bacon. It was fantastic! As an appetizer, I had the Thai wings. They were pretty good. I'm not a cilantro fan, so the cilantro on them overpowered everything else. But it didn't keep me from finishing them. I've seen comments on the service. My service was very good. Frankly, I was checked on so often, that it was almost too much. But that is way better than the alternative. The manager also stopped by to check in. I was very pleased with everything about my visit. I'll come back next time I'm in town.

After having a horrific experience at another restaurant, Old Chicago stepped up their game and gave me a fabulous one! My four friends and I left another establishment and walked to Old Chicago. We were hungry and aggravated with the other place. We walked in to Old Chicago and we were greeted with a smile and seated right away. We looked at our menus and realized that the pizza buffet ended at 1:30 and at the time, it was just after 1:30. We were defeated until our server, Nate, arrived. We were overjoyed to hear that they were extending the pizza buffet until 2. He took our drink orders right away and said that he would get the rest of our order after we had had a chance to get some food. The food was still piping hot on the buffet line and each time I went back for more, there was fresh pizza, stromboli and breadsticks. Nate kept my drink full and at the end of the meal, he brought us each a warm chocolate chip cookie. The customer service was fantastic. He put us on five different checks without a problem and made sure to use each of our names when he returned them to us. We were in there and back out within 30 minutes. Thank you, Old Chicago (and Nate!) for making our lunch experience a great one. I know that I will definitely be back.
(5)Rachel M.
The food is good. I am always biased for a Colorado company... But service is not up to par. I kind of feel like I inconvenience the servers when I need something.. And I am pretty low maintenance. The small bites during happy hour are a good option as is the lunch pizza bar!
(3)Sarah H.
Yay I'm a fan is the perfect description for my feelings about Old Chicago. I always get the Classic which has sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and garlic. Of course I get the Chicago style deep dish because at a place called Old Chicago it's the only way to go. I have had friends who have tried the thin crust and they have all said it is very good as well. I also like the Italian nachos. The freshly made chips and pepperoni, sausage and banana pepper rings are awesome for an appetizer. I think my favorite thing about Old Chicago is that they have Angry Orchard Hard Cider on tap. I love love love hard cider. Plus you can get it in a 25 ounce mug!!! Yay cider! The service we have always gotten has been fine. Not spectacular but efficient and friendly enough. Overall a good place to go for yummy pizza!

Not the best place if you are lactose intolerant, almost impossible to find something without cheese. Pepperoni rolls are a good app if you aren't having pizza. The main draw to this place is the alcohol and the happy hour. They have a late night happy hour 10pm to close which is pretty good. The beer selection is one of the better ones in this part of town. Not a great place to watch a game. Bar area fills up fast and not many good seats for a game. As for the pizza, not a fan. I am very critical of pizza coming from an Italian family, this is down there with the delivery places in my opinion. If what you want is beer and pizza latenight, this is your place.3 instead of 2 because the alcohol and happy hour.

I really enjoy our trips to Old Chicago. I like their food, their beer selection is great, when they have everything, and I'm generally satisfied with the service. Our last trip was really no different. We had a large party (8) meeting there at 6:30pm, so I called the day before to see about call ahead seating or reservations. They don't do either. I assumed that would be the case, but I called anyway. The girl I talked to on the phone said to show up about 40 minutes early and as long as there was one person there, they would hold a table for us. We got stuck in traffic and our early arrival ended up being about 20 minutes instead of 40. Luckily, we were seated in 5 minutes. Talk about impressive, right? I thought so. Our server had some trouble keeping everything straight, and she didn't want to let us just hang out to enjoy our gathering. We made it work, and we stayed for quite a while. Everyone got their food and was satisfied with it, so I won't say it was even a remotely bad experience. We had fun, and everyone left happy.
(4)Adam W.
Old Chicago has delicious deep dish pizzas, affordable drinks and an overall great atmosphere. Their staff are personable and attentive, making sure we never had an empty glass. When we ordered our deep dish pizza I was expecting a longer wait time but our food came out in under 10 minutes! I'll defiantly be eating at Old Chicago again.
(5)Megan K.
Minus one star for the girl up front who was rude. Met some cool locals to hang w/and we met here. GREAT drink prices! Had margaritas that were $2.50 and a personal cheese pizza for $3. Nice atmosphere, women's bathroom even has a TV. Our waitress, Sarah, was very friendly and attentive. Over 100 beers from around the world...yum! I wish we had such great prices on food and drinks back in Michigan!
(4)Janice C.
Disclaimer: I'm not much on chain restaurants. That being said, Old Chicago is not a bad choice at all if you want good beer, a place flexible enough to watch a game, get together with friends, or take the kids, and decent pizza. I prefer a thinner crust pizza, but the Chicago(esque) style they serve here is pretty good. Last time, I ordered one of their "artisan" pizzas, just for kicks. The prosciutto and mushrooms could have benefited from a thinner slice, but other than that, no complaints.
(3)Kevin Z.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I'm glad I tried Old Chicago. I had also never had a Chicago stype deep dish pizza before, and once again, I was glad I tried the amazing original style pizza conplete with flavorful pepperoni, bold roasted garlic, and a super delicious sauce. I also didn't realize that after 10pm they have an awesome happy hour menu that enables a regular person to eat, drink and be merry without feeling the empty pocket blues later. I guess the conclusion that I must come to is that before I tried Old Chicago, I was really missing out and I don't ever want to deprive myself of their food and drink ever again.
(4)Julie G.
Old Chicago is one of the better tasting pizzas in town. It's not too saucy and the ingredients are fresh especially the veggies. They even have a slight crunch to them. The crust has a nice Parmesan sprinkle which for crust lovers is an added bonus. I'm sure they pride themselves on beer selection which they should because they have a crazy amount to choose from. If you're a beer lover check out their World Beer Tour. Their seasonal flights are good to. The service is decent but the J-town restaurant is VERY loud. They recently opened one in Springhurst which I've only gotten take out from so I'm not sure of the noise level there. Each location has outside seating, which is a plus.
(4)Glenn W.
I have a world tour card that I think might melt from the use it gets. I haven't achieved anything other than some mini tours but all the same the beer is great. Happy hour pizzas are 3 bucks. THREE BUCKS! and they are great. I can get my belly full and my happy hour on for less than $30. drink responsibly and never drive under the influence

Having lived in Illinois for the last 10 years, I know a good Chicago-style pizza when I see one and occasionally have a hankering for it. So it is with mouthwatering anticipation that I ventured into Old Chicago for dinner last weekend. As we walked past a couple of tables, we saw the deep-dish pizzas that other folks had ordered. It looked like a regular thick crust pizza, which our wonderfully friendly and attentive server Jen confirmed. So we steered clear of the "Chicago-style" pizza and opted for a thin crust pizza (half Double Decker, which is twice the pepperoni, mozzarella and spices, and half Meat Me, which is topped with Italian Sausage, Canadian Bacon, Andouille Sausage, garlic, mozzarella cheese and basil). My wife loves pepperoni but she felt the Double Decker was pepperoni-overload; I had no such complaints, although I've to admit my mouth feeling as parched as the Kalahari an hour or so later, perhaps due to all the sodium in the cured meats. It was good though. Both of us loved the Meat Me half of the pizza. We got the Fried Mac N Cheese appetizer, which was also very good. Overall, great food, exemplary service, relaxed atmosphere.

Great food, great service. Pizza was absolutely delicious.

used to eat at another location of old chicago pizza in lexington near man o war boulevard, but the last time i went to that location it had closed, im from cincinnati so we always are looking for good pizza outside of our town, so we did a few museums on spring break in louisville over my sons spring break , and to my suprise we pulled up on an OLD CHICAGO PIZZA , i was very happy, the food was great , cost us about $62 dollars for the 3 of us to eat , but that was about $20 dollars in beer so not to badly priced , the deep dish was very good, very hot and fresh, the only reason im giving it four stars is because the ohio state game was on and i am an OHIO boy lol, so having to hear all the haters as i watched my team lose, with that being said you can bet your kentucky a$$ i will be back the next time im in town
(4)Colin C.
Louisville has some great pizza establishments and this place is no exception. I've only been for the lunch buffet, and it's quite a value. They'll typically have four or five pizzas on the buffet in addition to a few bread items. With the buffet, you also get a sizable salad and a cookie for dessert. I found all of the food to be better than expected, especially for the price (well under $10 per person). The service is friendly and attentive. I haven't been for drinks, but I've heard they have a decent selection of beers.
(4)Jimmy W.
Ok, ok, so it's not authentic Chicago pizza in that it's not actually in the city limits of Chicago, but other than that, I can't find a whole lot of fault with it! They have plenty of vegetarian options, the crust is fabulous, and the ingredients all seem to be at least fresh enough to be tasty, crunchy, or whatever consistency they're actually supposed to be instead of just mushy. The service at this location is great, there are tons of huge TV's, and they seem to show almost every single NFL game that is on tv if you're there on a football Sunday. They also have nice little card below the TV that tells you what game is on and what game will be on after that one so you can make your decision on where to sit by that if that's your aim. That also means that pesky Miami Dolphins fan over there isn't going to switch the game from what you're watching to what they want to watch in the middle of a 4th and goal. Go Bills! er... Go Old Chicago!
(5)Donald J.
In my opinion, this is the best pizza place in Louisville when considering taste, value and service. We visited this past Monday and my party of 3 split a Chicago 7 pizza. This is their deep dish version and it's loaded with several tasty toppings. After 2 pieces, I was content and happy. The pizza was served hot and the waitress was nice enough to bring us some extra dipping sauce on the side since I can't ever have too much sauce. We will definitely go back and I'd suggest this place to anyone who wants a great pizza at a great price!
