This is my favorite Chinese Buffet in Louisville! They have a good quality of food and they stay busy enough that you don't have to wait long on fresh food to be put out. That's a huge plus in the buffet business. Many Chinese buffets attempt Sushi and most get it horribly wrong but Jumbo is a huge exception. I love their Sushi so much I can't go without having a plate of it alone. But Jumbo does many things very well, for example... BOURBON CHICKEN!!! And I mean real Bourbon Chicken too, not some random chicken dish which they slap the name on like Golden Corral does. This buffet is Seafood heavy!!! That's another huge plus for me. Not to worry if you don't dig the seafood. They are good about serving sausage dishes and having a fresh roast you can carve. Personally I have never had bad service either. My drink often stays full. I really can't say enough or do it justice by just rambling on here so I will just say this... You been here 4 hour, you go now!

First time here in a couple of years. Very little has changed. Still has a large selection. Quality is still above average. Free refills on drinks. Decent desserts. Good ice cream. Mongolian grill is ok.

I took my sons and daughter in law to eat here. We were not impressed. There was plenty of food, but it was not good. The food was greasy tasting, Not worth the 60.00 is cost for four people, not including tip. Even the desserts were bland at best. Don't waste your money. There are much better Chinese Restaurants around.

*They've got a large selection of food *The servers will always take your plates and fill your drinks *Good tasting ice cream *Freshly made sushi on the sushi bar *Mongolian grill bar *Lots of seating *Fried chicken wings are good *A big stone fountain with turtles and fish in it. All kids are sure to love it *People say the hot and sour soup and egg drop soup taste great but I'm not a fan of soup XD

As Chinese buffets go, Jumbo is pretty good. Although table service is minimal, the attendants are vigilant about keeping beverages filled and used plates removed. That's nice. The sushi is tasty, although most of the items are cooked. There is a stir fry station, where a chef will cook items you assemble. The hot buffet is large, offering many Chinese entrees, as well as several soups and a number of different dim sum. I really like Jumbo's Bourbon chicken. It is a little spicy, and unlike other Bourbon chicken I have tried, Jumbo's is not overly sweet. Jumbo's Spicy Chicken is really spicy. Not Kentucky spicy. Spicy.. Buffet $12.99

It's not the Jade Palace, but it'll do in a pinch. Good selection of food, stays pretty fresh and hot. Service quality varies day to day. Food pretty much same items everyday. Tends to get busy during lunch with all the contractor coming in. With any buffet, you have patrons that reach across steam table or use serving utensils for one food item for the next. But that's just boils down to laziness. For the most part, it's a good Chinese food quick satisfier but definitely not the Jade Palace!

In a large city where a decent Chinese buffet is hard to find, this place is pretty solid. Nothing to write home about, but a good selection including sushi and a Mongolian grill and all the classic Chinese buffets must haves.

I do not think it is the best Chinese Food in Louisville.I do enjoy the Buffet on Friday or Saturday.I like the all you can eat Crab Legs Shrimp Oysters ect. They also have Crawfish in onion and green pepper. The sushi is ok but it's only 12.99 per person. If you want great fresh Chinese order off the menu.China House of Shelbyville Rd in St.Mathews is very good with great authentic atmosphere if not near Jumbo.I am just a person who lives near St Mathews.I drive to Jumbo 2-3 times a year.

The best Chinese buffet in Louisville! Everything was hot & fresh, nothing was cold or hard. Very clean and organized. The food was delicious & better then other buffets around. I love steamed dumplings and these were great because they kept them in the steamer! Check this out if you have a craving for Chinese!

they should really clean the handles to the food like all buffet restaurants should but don't... the food is good and they have choices from sushi, to pizza, to of course chinese!!!

I love Asian food so a good buffet is always tops on my list. This place is good, but not great. The name implies there would be a number of choices, but I felt limited just a little. There were a few sushi options, but I enjoyed them immensely. Surprisingly, the highlight of the buffet was the bar-b-que wings. I'd go back just for those. The Dim Sum was better than most buffets. I was a little disappointed in the ragoons and egg rolls, as they are my favorite! Overall not a terrible buffet.

For those of you who are calling into question the authenticity of the food at Jumbo Buffet I just have to say - are you freakin' serious?! That's like comparing Taco Bell to true Mexican cuisine. Or Pizza Hut pizza to pizza at an Italian pizzeria in Rome. C'mon now - give me a break. It's called Jumbo Buffet for God's sake - what can you expect? That being said - it was good. Was it amazing? No. But the buffet had a ton of selection, the food was fresh, and it all tasted good. It's very similar to other Chinese buffet restaurants and has much of the same selection. It has a Mongolian grill which is nice for those who may want a healthier option or for those who aren't a fan of buffets. All in all, I thought it was good. I would eat there again.

One extra star for their fried wings. Since the demise of the other Chinese buffet across the street and that other super yummy one on the east side on Chamberlain, Jumbo has become my default fix for Chinese buffet cravings. Just like T.T. has mentioned, I also no longer come here for their seafood offerings. The few remaining standouts are: wings, hot and sour soup and that one spicy chicken cube dish. Surprisingly, their wings are one of the best wings in the area. They are exactly what I want in a wing: jumbo, juicy and fried with the thinnest of flour coating. Their hot and sour soup is also great every time, spicy and just enough sour to sting the palate. And somehow, their offerings are very, very consistent. Every dish taste the same every time I go there. Not sure how they do it, but I know I can't duplicate it at home so I keep coming back.

This used to be the Asian go to place for buffet, especially for crab legs, blue crabs and crawfish. With those 3 main things on the buffet line we gladly overlooked the rest of the other mediocre buffet stables. In the last few years, I rarely see crab legs, blue crabs are never fresh and crawfish on the salty side. So it no longer stands out among the other buffets in town. The soups are decent, sushi skeptical, the buns are pretty good, everything else is your standard buffet fare.

always been a favorite buffet, but the last few times I've been here it's been a little sub par. The actual decor of the place is in shambles, never have I seen such a dirty rotten bathroom, the smell alone was rancid. But the walls of the place were the worst, crumbling in some areas, with brown & yellow liquid oozing from some fixtures around the rooms. Now to the food, it's bad when everything tastes the same, same gooey texture, same bland taste, things crunch where things shouldn't crunch. Please get it together. I noticed employees now have these traditional silk blouses as uniform which was nice to see!
(2)
Kin L.
The decor and atmosphere looks and feels old. They have a pretty big buffet bar with a wide selection. The food is what you would expect from a buffet, nothing is really outstanding out, but will get the job done. The service is fast, which is great when I'm trying to catch a movie next door.

This place has the largest selection I've EVER seen at a buffet. Sushi, noodles, chicken and pork dishes, sea food, rangoons, steamed buns, crab legs, and that's only what I had room to eat. If you're looking for a reasonably priced evening to gorge on Asian deliciousness in the Louisville area, look no further.

day 41 finally found some rice... i like my buffet like i like my women bro. jumbo. it's pretty good all around asian and some american food bro. service is good. around 12 bucks a head bro. its the first group of asian people i've seen yet bro. youtube.com/watch?v=3zvT…
I am not usually a fan of chinese buffets. But this one is bomb. Normally they taste bland to me. But this actually has taste and from what I could tell all the food was regularly replaced to keep it fresh. They have a massive selection and you are sure to get your fill. Went on a double date and had a great time.

Do Chinese buffets have to seem kind of dirty? I don't expect a lot from buffets. By design they have make sacrifices in some areas in order to work. I've been to better ones, but not here in Louisville. I cannot understand for the life of me how anyone could eat sushi at a buffet, but it's your funeral.

Came here about a year ago (before I had a yelp account) with my husband and friend. The food was cold and so bad that we left hungry. The food look like several days old. $30 per person. Will never come back. It made such negative impression that I can still remember it one year later.

Everything was okay. Nothing special. Definitely had better. Pretty cheap for a good selection of food. I think the best thing that they have is the crawfish. Not many Chinese buffets will offer crawfish.

I go to jumbo buffet every Saturday for lunch. For the price of 7.99, I got everything that I wanted. Hot & sour soup, chicken wing, crawfish ,butterfish, shrimps etc. I don't believe I can get that many selection elsewhere. Most important is everything taste great. Their docroration does seem out of style, but people are very friendly.

I felt compelled to review this spot after the four star rating led me to eat here tonight. I assumed that all Chinese buffets are about the same...didn't realize this place could take it to a new low. Interior was dated and felt dirty and unappetizing, food all tasted the same - dry and overcooked, using poor ingredients. This is a drab, depressing place with poor food - would recommend going somewhere else.

The decor and atmosphere leave a lot to be desired, as do most restaurants of this type. It felt very dark and run down inside. I ate mostly seafood including crawfish and salt and pepper shrimp. Both were really tasty and I didn't get sick which is always a plus. I was disappointed to see a lot of empty pans and nobody refilling them. I wanted more crawfish at the end of the meal but they never brought anymore back out. Not someplace I'm dying to go back to.

I am torn between a 3 and 4 star review here. Most buffets strive for consistent mediocrity, which Jumbo easily achieves. It is probably the best Chinese buffet in Louisville. Among many dishes sampled; egg foo young, sweet & sour chicken, chicken w/ broccoli, crab rangoon. They also have many other choices, including sushi and Chinese seafood dishes. All this for about $8 per person. If you are looking to fill up on loads of Chinese, come here!

Let me start off by saying, Chinese food is my comfort food for as long as I can remember. When I spent 6 weeks in China and 2 weeks in Taiwan, I was in heaven. I do not want to say I am an expert on Chinese food, but I do have a good idea of what authentic and what Americanized Chinese food is. When I walked in, I was blown away by the size of the buffet stations. Then I realized that there was a mirror wall that made the buffet about 2 times bigger than it actually was. I deflated a little bit, but the buffet was still pretty large. Several different styles of food are offered from Japanese Sushi, to Mongolian BBQ, to Chinese, to good old fried American food. Filling my plate, I went for my regulars and went back to my table. My drinks were waiting for me when I got back, but the server did not make any eye contact with me when ordering. That bothers me a bit since I am paying customer. I know it is a buffet, but a smile and a hello can go a long way. The food was mediocre. The fried was wasn't even fried. It was basically Mexican Yellow Rice with some vegetables and egg in it. I would be surprised if the rice ever hit the frying pan. The chicken dishes were what I expected. Nothing special. The soup was too hot that I was in the process of burning my hand on the soup ladle when pouring. I would not dare touch Sushi on a Sunday, so I will not comment on that. The decor was out of a 1980's catering hall that got stuck in the 1980s. All the windows had their blinds drawn and the lighting was inadequate. It was rather depressing. When I paid for my bill, one of the servers at the counter was tipping out. When I used to work at a restaurant back in my bachelor days, we were always taught not to tip out in front of customers. He was doing this while I was trying to pay my bill and did not even acknowledge my presence and did not move out of the way as I was reaching for a pen. It made me wonder what the priorities of this place was. It was just sad customer service, sad lighting and sad food. I tried it and that was enough.

The only reason I came here was that it was right across from the theater. So there was no driving for food. I was looking for a great Chinese buffet, and I saw the ratings were good. I gave it 2 stars because I don't think it had a great selection of food, and the foods the I would normally eat were not that great. Like the honey chicken and the sesame chicken, the crab rangoon, I didn't really like it. And there was an awful smell while we were there. I actually went to the hibachi sushi restaurant on Bardstown rd the next day because I was still craving for Chinese. and yes, I did a review on them as well. The price was good here, I paid $9.99 for me, and $3.99 for a 5 year old. I don't think I'll be back.

Still one of my top 3 buffets. Good hot tea. Good variety of well prepared recipes. Large variety of Americanized sushi. Large salad bar. Good dumplings, potstickers with sauces. Lots of deserts and ice cream.

Right next door to the stony brook theatre (Rave), this is my fave Chinese buffet in Louisville. A clean and typical environment -- nicely laid out to move amongst all the options. All the usuals -- egg foo young, Mongolian beef, General Tso chicken, sweet & sour chicken, crab Rangoon, egg rolls -- all delish. I especially like their hot & sour soup, and selection of sushi. And lots of fresh, crisp vegetable dishes. All in all, a great deal.

People say this has to be the best Chinese buffet anywhere. I can't claim that as I've visited a number in CA that would hold their own and then some. But of the ones I've tried in the midwest this one is Best! Hey I made a rhyme! Why it's good; Service is surprisingly attentive, but not too much, your glass will always bill full. It's big, there are really a ton of food choices, even if you don't want Chinese food. They have a Sushi bar They have a Mongolian style BBQ They have some of the best Bourbon Chicken I've ever tasted (they've gotten awards for it) They are actually decorated, not a strip mall style place. It's sort of international, every time I go there are people from all over the world eating here, Hispanic, Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern, and yes Southerners! They have 3-4 soups every day They have Dumplings, several kinds in fact They have craw fish (or crawdads if your from that part fo the country) There si a salad bar, pizza, fried chicken for those who don't want Chinese and you can also count on most of the deserts being better than the average Chinese place (why are Chines restaraunt deserts often so terrible). Also a soft serve Ice Cream and Sunday Bar. And after Lunch or Dinner walk of the move theater and catch the altest movie.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

we have to be fan of this place because if it is any consolation, we get to park closer to the cinema so we eat buffet before watching a movie :) MRS says... i like the chicken entrées (bourbon and peppered) i also like the steamed bun (plain) egg and rice noodle too! we rarely do the mogolian grill and sushi even though its part of the buffet. seafood nights we feast on crab legs which is popular. we have to literally wait for the servers to refill the steamed table tray with crab legs because there are a lot other crab legs enthusiast in line! expect the buffet aroma to seep through your clothes. so if you smell someone inside stonybrook cinema smelling like chinese food, that would be us!

My co-workers and I went to this and the selection was huge! Good food at a great price. I would definitely go again.

One of the most decent Chinese buffets in Louisville.

The freshest food i've ever had at a Chinese buffet. The only bad thing was the egg roll. Yuck

This is one of the very best Chinese buffets in Louisville. They have a huge selection! I'm a huge fan of sushi and as far as buffet sushi goes, theirs is pretty good!
