Black raspberry chip, yo. On a sprinkle cone. Friendly employees, clean. Delicious.

Fantastic homemade ice cream served by friendly staff is always nice any time of year. The chocolate almond fudge is my favorite well my youngsters enjoy plain old vanilla. This visit the ice cream clerk put a :-) on the vanilla cone and it was a big hit.

Excellent neighborhood ice cream store. The service was great, the ice cream delicious and the prices were reasonable. The servings are huge. This is a must stop place if you are in this neighborhood which by the way is filled with many coffee shops and restaurants. Great area to spend the evening on a fall day and enjoy some good food and refreshments which people watching.

Delicious ice cream! And, they make cute candy faces on the scoops for kids :)

Excellent ice cream with celebratory seasonal favorites such as "pumpkin" & "cinnamon!" BUT, what a huge disappointment today when I sprang for the chocolate dipped waffle cone..... Ode de BLACK WAX! This stuff doesn't melt in your mouth, does not taste like chocolate whatsoever, & has no business being near descent ice cream. Oye!

I had the salted caramel and butter pecan - after trying at least four different flavors - and it was delicious: creamy, sweet, and just the right amount of flavor. Service was fantastic and really friendly. I will say that it was a little pricey for the amount we got, though.

Sorbet. Sorbet. Sorbet. Sorbet. Ok, there you have it Yelp search engine: if you're looking to lead a Yelper in the Highlands to sorbet, this is gonna be your #1 hit. I don't know of any other places in walking distance of the Highlands that has sorbet but know that you can count on Graeter's to have several sorbet options. I was feeling the raspberry sorbet on this visit, but they also had other typical sorbets like mango, lemon and tangerine. This month they even had a special extra one: pineapple. Even the sample I had proved their "made with real fruit" statement written on the menu as there were quite a few pineapple stringy things still left. They're also Kentucky Proud despite being a small chain and originally based out of Cincy. There's also lots of cool old-timey photos of Douglass Loop in the shop, which is kinda neat to see. Oh yeah, they've got ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, etc. too. Gotta keep those search terms in there too, but the sorbet is where it's at...

Respectable ice cream that's mass produced with a local ingredient bend. Reminds me a lot of Oberweiss to be honest, but not quite as rich and creamy. Better than Baskin Robbins, but there are better local ice creameries within driving distance you should check out.

Love this place. One of only two places we will get Ice Cream. Love the Cherry Chocolate Chip. The staff is always nice and friendly!

Lunch at Fat Jimmy's and then pop over here for some creamy deliciousness. Definitely a winning gluttonous day. I took a chance and ordered my friend's ice cream cake for her big 3-0 and it was definitely the right choice. The guys that work there were so friendly and helpful and patient as I debated every single aspect as if it were the most important decision in my life. I went with the round cake, yellow, with cocolate chip ice cream and some bittersweet choc layer thing and red icing. They let me choose any flavors and had tons of choices for each. I chose what time I wanted to pick it up the next day and sure enough, there it was, lovely, personalized and ready to go. 26 bucks with tax, so not too bad, and I debated in my head if I should have gotten the bigger sheet cake when I saw how many folks were at the party. But I cut up a ton of pieces and still had 1/4 left. Sweet. Everyone loved it. The chocolate chip was a great suggestion. The Manager there said that any of the chip flavors go really well in cakes and he was right on it. Great balance of cake and ice cream, not overwhelmingly sweet. Next time - Black Raspberry Chip.

I'd heard great things about Graeter's, so when my husband and I were in Louisville for his birthday weekend, I made sure we stopped by for a sweet treat. I understand that one of the big draws to Graeter's is that it uses some kind of fancy French method to make its ice cream and it doesn't include artificial ingredients... I have tasted really heavenly artisan ice cream (Jeni's, based out of Ohio, but with a shop in Nashville) and so I was expecting Graeter's to have that same luxurious, fresh flavor. When ice cream is made with premium ingredients, you really can taste the difference! Based on all this, I must admit that I found my Graeter's experience to be a bit of a let down. Maybe I chose poorly, but I opted for a pumpkin sundae, while my husband got a banana-chip based banana split. We both felt that while this ice cream was certainly good and had lots of flavor, it really didn't taste very different from the ice cream you can get at the grocery store. In my mind, Graeter's was good ice cream, but nothing special. The prices were reasonable and it would certainly sate most ice cream cravings, but it didn't seem especially decadent or exciting, and I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.

Graeter's is the best ice cream I've ever had, and probably will ever have. The chocolate chunks are dark, soft, and heavenly, never crunchy, and the ice cream is always smooth, never icy. This is the closest location to home, large inside and good service. I could eat Graeter's every day.

The black raspberry chip will change your life. You want to go for the helados with the chocolate chunks. It's like Christmas every time you hit one. HUGE, homemade pieces of goodness. The serving sizes are usually generous, so don't worry, you'll get your money's worth. Also, if you're getting a cone, go all the way. Chocolate-dipped waffle cone.

Visiting my brother in Louisville, cruising the city, saw this place and stopped. Mmmm...Blueberry Pie Ice Cream. Real blueberries and pie crust. -The ice cream is not as smooth and creamy as some ice cream I've had, but still very good. -Also as someone mentioned, single is actually 2-3 scoops of ice cream, a double is like 5 scoops, and a kid's size is 1 scoop. -You can buy pre-packed pints of their ice cream at this location, and they have fudge too! -There's plenty of indoor seating if it's too hot outside, and there are a few benches outside if it's nice. Yup I would come back here if I'm ever back in Louisville!

They have a wonderful selection of chip ice creams. My personal favorite is peanut butter chip. They are locally made and hands down the best in town!
(5)rachel d.
Graeter's definitely has the best ice cream in town! Any of the flavors with the word chip in it, is worth tasting. The all-time favorite is the black raspberry chip, then the mint chip. The seasonal flavors have to be tried also. July and December are great times to get ice cream and purchase their $30 gift card for $25! I can eat off of that card for months. I can only eat a kiddie scoop because the servings are large and very filling.

Get the black raspberry chip ice cream. This is all you need to know.

A very unique ice cream parlor. The staff are nice and the ice cream is up there on some of the best I've had.

Summer Flavor Alert: Fresh Peach Ice Cream...this flavor alone makes this place worth the trip. Like biting into a fresh peach, but better.
(5)Jim B.
I "liked" the ice cream, but it didn't rock my world. And they do not offer caramel topping. Seemed odd to me.
(3)James B.
What can be said----Great ice cream!!! I'm not a big fan of the chocolate chunks but I know a lot of people love them so I'll shut up!!
(5)Victoria T.
Best butter pecan ice cream on the planet.

oh god...oh god...oh god ... oh ... god! (This is the sound of an ice cream orgasm.) Black Raspberry Chocolate Chunk. Sugar cone. Give it to me one more time baby.
(5)Tre P.
I don't even like ice cream but this stuff is Incredible! Anything with chocolate chips will rock your world.

The buckeye blitz.. how ever you wanna give it to me... even off the floor i would give you 5 stars.. its the best! Oh and the best part.. they will ship you the ice cream.. can not beat this!
(5)Jeff S.
All i can really say about this place is the portions are HUGE. Two scoops was an insane amount of ice cream. Really good also
(5)Jim G.
This is just very good hand-scooped ice cream. As evidenced by the neighborhood folk who gather round on summer evenings. It's right next to Heine Bros.' coffee and has entrances off Bardstown Rd. and Harvard/Dundee in the back. Although Graeter's is excellent, I'm here as often as not due to being on foot and this is my neighb. Given a motor, I'll travel the extra .75 mile south on Bardstown Road for Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen.
