Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Most popular condiments used in hamburgers in the United States are mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. Besides ground meat patty, hamburgers are also stuffed with lettuce, onions, tomato slices, pickles, and cheese.
Hamburgers are also categorized into two types in the United States. Fast food hamburger and individual hamburgers served at restaurants are two basic types of burgers served in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.
McDonalds is the most popular fast food burger restaurant serving different types of burgers in the United States. On the other hand, there are several restaurants such as Burger King are famous for serving the best hamburgers in the United States. This is the single best place in town to get a burger, period. I cannot stop recommending it to people and feel like saying I LOVE GAME is still and understatement. During my first visit our timing was less than stellar so we ended up cramped up by the bar for the thirty minutes while we waited for a table to open up. Not a big deal, we knew Game was on the smaller side and that it was popular, so we expected to wait. We sipped beer and were seated much sooner than the hostess originally told us. The elk burger was recommended and I jumped at the chance to try something new, plus there was brie! (I love brie.) We also ordered duck fat fries, yum. That meal pretty much changed everything I thought about burgers, as silly as it may sound. The burger was just excellent and I couldn't wait to go back! It was winter and a lot of people were waiting, so we tried to be nice and get in and out so other people could enjoy the AMAZING food. I recently ventured back and it was earlier and less crowded, which also meant we felt less rushed. I wanted the elk burger, my heart was set on it after the first visit, but I wanted to try the meatballs so I could try a new burger next time. Antelope is seasonal and is currently out of season, so as much as I wanted it, it wasn't going to happen. Instead we ordered wagyu, kangaroo, and venison to share among our group. (Side note: We ordered the meatballs and were able to sample them all before placing our order, so you definitely have an opportunity to try a few things, if you want, before choosing a burger.) The wagyu is beef, extremely tender. The venison reminded me of the elk a bit, tender but not overly so, great flavor. The kangaroo surprised me - I kept hearing it was gamey, too tough - wrong. The kangaroo reminded me texture-wise of normal beef burgers, but it had this smoky flavor and I imagine it would pair well with barbeque sauce. I have plans to try different meatballs on my next visit and probably order the venison burger, or maybe antelope, if available. Or I may do what I saw other patrons doing and order 3-4 different meatballs as my meal :) Seriously, nothing else compares as far as burgers go. I ate another burger at a well known place in town recently and while it was very good, I was disappointed that it wasn't a Game burger. If you haven't been yet - GO NOW. Then tell all your friends so even more people can experience how phenomenal this place truly is.

Can we talk about Game for a moment? CAN WE TALK ABOUT GAME FOR A MOMENT?! OMG. I fell in love with this place the moment I put one of their delicious burgers in my mouth. I am a huge burger fan and I can't tell you how excited I was to try something other than beef. I tried the wild boar burger with goat cheese and a cranberry-jalapeno jam. The boar was tender and flavorful and the goat cheese was creamy and complimented it perfectly. We tried the sweet potato fries and they were on point as well. The craft beer selection was excellent and the price point is exactly where it should be. I can not wait to go back!

I have to say that it is now one of my favorite restaurant's in Louisville. Everything from the first bite to the last was simply amazing. When we came in on a Thursday night around 7:00 we thought that things might be a little busy...but there were plenty of tables inside and outside on their screened in patio. We sat and were greeted by a waiter who welcomed us to Game. He then explained some of the interesting meat selections so that we would have a better understanding of the unique menu. We decided on wild boar burger, salmon burger, kangaroo burger, and lamb burger. We got fries and chips to share at the table and tried the roasted garlic aioli and the habenero ranch dipping sauces. We also got one ear of corn for the table to share as well. I will start with the wild boar burger. The cranberry jam that they had with the other spices complimented the wild boar so well. I could have eaten a whole burger of that one. Next the salmon burger was probably our least favorite. The salmon was good but was not too exciting. Next the kangaroo burger was good. I thought that it tasted different than a regular beef burger but it was good! Lastly, I had the lamb burger and it had Gorgonzola cheese and mint pesto. I think the mint pesto and the cheese were great compliments to the lamb. The fries and chips were both good but one basket of them would have been plenty for the group of four. The sauces we tried were good but the winner was the habenero ranch. It wasn't too spicy...just enough with the tangy ranch. Also, please...get the corn! It was probably the best roasted corn I have ever tasted. There was Parmesan cheese and a little bit of cayenne pepper and the roasted flavor from the grill was just so tasty! For dessert our waiter sold us on a homemade smore and their house made cheesecake. We liked both of them but wouldn't re-order the cheesecake. The homemade smore was made with a smear of nutella on the plate followed by a homemade graham cracker with roasted marshmallows and then followed by another layer of the same. The top was drizzled with chocolate sauce. Next time we go we will just order one of the smore desserts. Before trying this place we weren't sure that we would like it....boy were we wrong! This place is on the repeat list for sure. One another positive note our server was fantastic. He made sure our drinks were refilled and his knowledge of the menu was outstanding. His description of the burgers and dessert made us want to try it all. Several people on yelp mentioned that the service was bad but we had a great experience. If you go: make sure that you park across the street because the parking lot is very small. The management mentioned that if you park next door (August Moon) you will be towed. The dining area is very small and I'm sure it does get crowded. Contrary to what yelp said...they do have fountain drinks...just a good thing to know. See my blog for other restaurant reviews: passmeyourplate.blogspot…

Visited for the first time last night and the food was amazing! I had the kangaroo burger with cheddar, avocado, and bacon. The burger was juicy and full of flavor and the bacon was perfectly cooked. Atmosphere was less than desirable, as there was limited seating for my party of two. Also, parking was limited so we had to park at the neighboring bistro. I would recommend Game to anyone wanting to try something new or those on a ketogenic diet (like me)...it's perfect for that!

Overall I enjoyed our experience with only a couple of critiques- we went on Valentine's Day so it got crowded FAST. They were prompt in getting people seated as quickly as possible but we were near the door so when more people came in to wait for a seat, it became uncomfortable to have so many people closely packed in around you while you're eating. It may only really be an issue during the cold months. Food quality was good. My boyfriend raved over his burger as being the best he's ever had. I thought my bison burger was very good but if I could be SUPER nit picky about 2 things that aren't deal breakers but I have to at least acknowledge- my patty was a little overly thick which made eating my food tricky (I noticed my boyfriends was a decent amount more "squished" than mine) and I love love love that everything is made in house (the pickles were delish!) but I was surprised and bummed that the ketchup, of all things, was not. I would love to see them come up with their own recipe in the future because I think it could only make their already delicious sweet potato fries that much better. I give it an A-/B+

Excellent food and friendly service. The wagyu meatball, scotch eggs with pork belly, and kangaroo burger are must tries! Unfortunately, seating and service were slow. Two more front of the house staff would have moved things along at a better pace.

I think Game is a wonderful concept for Louisville. There aren't many places you are able to order the variety of meat they have without it tasting overly "gamey." My friend and I met at Game at 6:30pm on a Thursday; absolutely no wait. I will say I was not expecting the restaurant to have that fast-food feel, but after seeing the inside, I found it to be quite comfortable. We ordered the Scotch Eggs to split and I loved them! The eggs were cooked perfectly. I also decided to try the meatballs as I would be able to try a greater variety of the meat. I went with Venison, Boar, and Kangaroo. I really enjoyed all three, but if I had to choose one for a burger (next time), I'll most likely pick the Kangaroo as it is tasty and a lighter meat. My friend ordered the venison tacos and she enjoyed them as well. Service was great as well. Our waitress was very attentive; even stopping by to check in on how my friend liked her beer since the waitress recommended it. I will definitely be back to Game soon!

I love this place. I need to go back and try the angus burger. I've heard it's one of the best in the city. But I'm always more intrigued with trying the different meats on the menu. So far I like the kangaroo the best. Wild boar and antelope are great as well. The elk is so-so. But that's just one man's opinion. Overall everything is amazing and worth trying. Having read some of the previous reviews, I agree they have some service issues to work out. I think it's partially bc the restaurant isn't big enough and people get hungry/frustrated when waiting for a table. They should relocate somewhere where they can accommodate the large numbers that file in every evening. Parking is also an issue. But overall, Game is an amazing experience. And try the scotch eggs or the tar tar sliders as a appetizer. You'll be glad you did.

Game is so wonderful. I went with a work posse, and I had the intention of eating some kangaroo. I'd never eaten a marsupial and I was determined to do so and prove my primacy as a placental mammal at the top of the food chain. The atmosphere was cool; it was much more laid-back than I'd anticipated. Our server was very understanding of our boisterous table. The food was excellent. We ordered a round of appetizers, including marrow and scotch eggs. Each item had a very interesting take on it; I felt like considerable thought had gone into the food, and there was finesse to the sensibility and execution of the appetizers in particular. I ordered the Kangaroo burger right off the menu (you can pick from a plethora of menu options to make your own burger) and got the fries with truffle. I was eating the little nubs of fries after finishing my meal just so I could continue to taste the oils. So delicious. The burger was excellent as well; I intend to go back to try the antelope and boar. The beer selection was good. We live in a day and age where beer selection is almost an arms race, so I can't fault them for not having the exhaustive list of crazy microbrew insanity that I'm starting to get used to. If you're wanting to drink beer here, though, they have all kinds of beer. All in all, an excellent experience.

I've been hearing about Game from friends for a long time and I'd been hearing nothing but good stuff. Our server was very friendly and answered all of the questions we had about the different types of meat on offer as well as being pretty knowledgeable on the different beers we inquired about. We had some meatballs first (because I couldn't decide what sort of sandwich I wanted) - Wagyu, kangaroo and wild boar. I didn't really care for the kangaroo personally but the person I was with did. The other two were fantastic. We split a basket of duck fat fries and each got a sandwich - I had the wild boar and she had elk (which she was kind enough to let me sample). Both of the sandwiches were delicious and the fries were pretty good as well. Definitely worth going to again and trying something new.

Every time I have the pleasure of visiting this young and surprisingly hip town, I visit Game. While some may cast it aside immediately by looking at the wait staff and muttering "freakin' hipsters" or "so many beards", they'd be highly mistaken. First up, the beers are fabulous. Lots of great selection. No seriously. Like gastropub good. Secondly, the meat. Because you don't come here to dine on wispy willows or grassy veggies but grass-fed animals of all sorts of flavors. I highly recommend getting a variety of meatballs with a variety of different sauces. That way you can tell your friends you not only add kangaroo but waygu, wild boar, antelope, elk, bison, duck, angus, venison, and sometimes a more seasonal variety. Also you must, absolutely MUST have the truffle-oil fries cooked in duck fat. It is an experience. And if you don't get the bone marrow than you've missed out on an experience that simply is a rare part of living in this amazing world. Also don't try to park at the restaurant, just park across the street. You have the added fun of playing a quick game of Human Frogger after you've imbibed a bit. The real question is why aren't you there right now!?

Now that I've been here 5-6 times I'm comfortable writing a review. As an FYI they get busy on weekends around dinner, but other than that I've never had too much trouble getting a table. The servers have always been polite, attentive, and informative. The interior is relatively sparse, but befitting of the food being served. After all it is a burger joint. The beer selection is pretty good and the wine selection is good enough. Sitting outside so far is my favorite spot in the place. To the food. I've never been disappointed. Even with the take-out (they waited until I arrived to pay to drop my fries that way I got hot and fresh fries when I got home). I've had/tasted the lamb, bison, organic beef, kangaroo, antelope, venison, and elk in some form or another in my visits and they have all been tasty. The additions that you can make to you burger are where Game stands out from any other high end burger joint I've been to. The soft shell crab or bone marrow mayo are just so over the top. I really enjoyed my last burger which was organic beef, gorgonzola, cranberry-jalapeno jam, tomato, greens, onions on a pretzel bun. Very satisfying, but this time my burger was barely medium and I ordered it med-rare. Not a huge deal, but when splitting hairs in a food review that's what it comes down to. Overall, I'll keep coming back, and keep on recommending it.

My taste buds say wow but my wallet says ouch! I paid close to $20 for the wagyu beef burger after adding the jalapeño jam sauce and grilled mushrooms. It tasted amazing with the pickles (the cucumber still green, sweet and tart) and all the fancy greens. So eating here is a treat and an adventure but definitely not an every day thing. My advice is try the other more exotic and relatively reasonably priced burgers first. My husband enjoyed the kangaroo Burger and my Japanese cow meat was soft and juicy. We enjoyed the soft chewy pretzel buns, just like your soft pretzel just softer and less doughy. Maybe my taste buds are not refined but I can't tell the difference between these two meats. But the anticipation of bragging to someone that you had kangaroo meat is part of the appeal of this place! The food is definitely delicious and worth checking out so be patient. The wait will be long, the appetizer might come right after your main dish, waiters/hosts might be slow to come to the rescue, and your order might be mixed up a few times. But service doesn't make a happy stomach, good food does! And isn't that the whole reason for eating out?
(4)Ashlee K.
Game is good for the variety of meats that they have. Bison, Venison, Kangaroo, etc. The toppings aren't that special, the sides are really bland. The meat and cheese combo is fantastic though. It's fine for what it is. As many other reviews have said, steer clear of the french fries. If you like beer, the menu is extensive. However, they have no fountain drinks so it's beer or water for you. The space is less than ideal. Cold in the winter, and it's really not easy to get to because there is virtually no parking. It's just disorganized. The service was fine. Nothing that would keep me going back, but fine. You'd really have to love the burgers to continue to go back here, otherwise, there's little to remark on. Three stars because they pride themselves on the variety of meats and burgers they offer, and they at least delivered on that.

Whether you're feeling adventurous with your appetite, or just want to stick to a classic cheeseburger, Game's the place to be. The restaurant itself, though small, welcomes you with an atmosphere of big wooden tables and a nice outdoor seating area. The small bar works well to accommodate any wait time you may have, as it tends to fill up on weekends and nights. But, it's worth it. Pros: Game offers meats you can't find anywhere else, and they do it well. Kangaroo, Bison, Elk? Order a few nicely-priced meatballs before you place your burger order to test the waters before you commit. Game also has superb options for customization. You can get a basic burger with lettuce, tomato, and ketchup, or branch out a bit with some bone marrow mayo, cranberry jalapeño, soft shell crab, etc. (The pretzel buns are bomb.) Game has huge portions. Between the massive burgers and the large helpings of fries (truffle oil? sweet potato? They're all wonderful), you will not leave hungry. Although most of the employees seem to beat to their own drums, don't let the tattoos and piercings scare you. Everyone is really helpful, usually attentive, and generally happy to be there. Cons: The restaurant itself is not large, and due to the great food, usually rather busy. Don't be too surprised if you have to wait for a bit, especially with a large party. Summary: Ultimately Game challenges the rest of those in the burger scene, and wins every time. You can make your burger as extreme as you wish, but no how far you take it, it's going to be great.

Perfect kangaroo burger, savory, salty, and delicious. I really like the tomato jam. The fries with truffle oil were so delicious I finished those in about ten seconds! And it was a heaping portion, too! The marrow was interesting, it tasted like meat flavored butter. Sadly, I'm really sensitive to corn, so I only had one bite of the corn on the cob smothered in smoked truffle mayo and parmesan, but holy smokes it was delicious! And the s'mores for dessert was rich, gooey, sweet, and chocolatey. I can't wait to come here again. My friends said the salmon burger and the prime rib burger were the best things the two of them had ever eaten. So I think it's safe to say, this place is good!
(5)Tracy H.
This place is an unexpected gem. Wide variety of burgers and cheeses to choose from. I had an elk burger, well done with goat cheese. Delicious. And they actually knew how to cook well done. So many people think we'll done means burnt, but not these guys. Burger was beautifully cooked. Would have been nice not to drive off with my to-go cup still on top of the car, but you can't win em all :)
(5)Mary L.
Unique and tasty dining experience! From the creative starters such as bone marrow served with delicious crusty bread and buttermilk frog legs, to the luscious varieties of meats offered, GAME is a restaurant you won't want to miss. Our table had the duck burger, lamb burger and meatball sampler...yum! Fries were crisp and flavorful and the grilled asparagus was fresh and cooked to perfection. Ask for Lauren, she was our server: attentive, efficient and personable!
(5)Tom R.
Went again last night, and the service was MUCH improved -- our server was great! The food was still mouth-watering as well. The kangaroo burger was succulent and perfectly seasoned, as were the wild boar meatball and venison meatball. The cheesy corn on the cob was a decadent treat. Yeah, it's pricey, but SO good.

With a name like "Game" and being in Kentucky, I assumed this was a sports bar when my friends told me to meet them there. So pulling into the (teeny) parking lot of this place, I was so confused that I sat in my car until my friends arrived. It looks like a drive-thru diner. The windows resemble that of a Waffle House, and on the inside, the restaurant is decorated garage sale chic. There was a line of folks waiting for a table, and the restaurant has no real waiting area to speak of. Luckily, we found a spot at the bar, and my skepticism drained instantly upon review of their impressive beer collection, both on tap and in bottles. Between 4 of us, we were able to sample meatballs of elk, antelope, kangaroo and duck, which helped us make the decision on what kind of burger to order. The elk was my favorite, but you might as well try several and decide for yourself. The sauces are incredible- a cranberry sauce that was to die for. Order the homemade chips instead of fries and you won't be sorry. The service was prompt, and at an excellent price point. Game had a great atmosphere, although it's very small, so not ideal for large groups during a busy dinner time. I'll be back, but I hope they find a bigger space soon, and in a more visible location- it would certainly be warranted.
(4)Orlando G.
This is such a unique place. Great selection of unconventional meat dishes like Wagyu, elk, and kangaroo. You can try a meatball version of the burger entrees (though they're a little pricey so don't go crazy) and choose what exotic meat you prefer. Highly recommend it!
(5)Elizabeth W.
Game was a fantastic dining experience. I say experience because it truly was more than just food. The atmosphere is very different from what I was expecting, but it still really fit with the theme of the restaurant. The space obviously used to be a diner of some sort, which has been revamped for a local dining/rustic feel. The beer menu is very extensive, and our server was great at helping us pick a great beer. My boyfriend ordered a delicious Hefeweizen, and I stuck with a West Sixth Lemongrass (we love local brews!). The food is arranged and served wonderfully. We started with an order of bone marrow, to stick with the idea of trying new things, and I have no regrets. The bone marrow was full of various flavors and textures that blended marvelously. The meatball samplers are fantastic! 3 oz of various kinds of meat. Before deciding what we wanted on our burger, we tried a couple of samplers (duck, elk, kangaroo, and wild boar). The meatballs were served with a delicious sauce that completed the meal (seriously, I could have eaten the sauce by itself). The duck was fantastic, but too rich for me to consider putting on a burger. The elk wasn't my favorite, but by no fault of Game, just a personal preference. I was most excited to try Kangaroo, and loved the taste. The wild boar was probably my favorite; I ordered it on a burger and went to heaven right then and there. The only complaint I would have is that it was a little pricey for my budget (college life), but when you're eating uncommon meats, you have to pay a little more. Because of that, this is definitely a "once in awhile" kind of restaurant, but will definitely be adding this to our date night restaurants list!
(5)Phil B.
I had dinner at Game last night with a friend. We sat at the bar, which as cold as it was, I would not do again, unless the restaurant puts up a wind block to prevent the cold air from disturbing you. That and the french fries were the only negatives on my first visit. The bartender did a very thorough job of explaining the menu to us and was prompt with providing waters and our beers. We decided to split what we ordered so we could both try them. I ordered the antelope burger (med-rare) and she ordered the special which that night was a pheasant bratwurst with a spicy dijon. We also had an order of fries to have prior to our meal. the fries were basically the scrape fries--none were longer than an inch and we were forced to eat them with our forks. The entrees were fantastic! From my initial experience, I cannot foresee anything on the menu being bad, and if it is, I would have to blame it on me just not liking that particular type of dish and not the restaurant.
(4)Bryan B.
Been wanting to try this place and finally got the chance. I had the Kangaroo with cheddar and the roasted garlic aoli. It was great. Wife had the venison. Which was also very tasty. Want to come back and try the wild boar or antelope.

Let me start off by saying I'm a pescetarian. Why would a person who doesn't eat meat go to a restaurant that serves game meats you ask? Several reasons. And I think Game was a good restaurant for any vegetarian/pescetarian. 1. I love Hammerheads! Love it, love it, love it. Their macaroni and cheese balls are fried spheres of delightful ooey-gooey melted cheesey heaven! So I was bummed out that there were no vegetarian-friendly appetizers here. That's the only reason I gave them a 4 star. 2. Lou restaurants are becoming experts at making a veggie burger. Before the local restaurants starting making delicious veggie burgers I always went to J Alexanders. Now I know I can go to Mussel and Burger Bar, Hammerheads and now Game. I had the corn, poblano and garbanzo veggie burger at Game. It was great! Served on a brioche bun with brie, lettuce, pickles and tomato and a yummy mayo. The "burger" was cooked perfectly. It didn't fall apart and the seasoning was spot on. They have a lentil and red bean burger that I'm going to try the next time! And they offer a salmon burger, so I might have to give it a try too. 3. My friend got the bone marrow appetizer and he said it was outstanding. I took the bone home to my dogs and they approved also. Haha. My friend also got the kangaroo, venison, wild boar, and antelope meatballs. He like the wild boar the most. He said next time he'd go for a burger over the meatballs, but he wanted to try several options. 4. The S'mores dessert we split was divine. The graham crackers tasted fresh and held up to the marshmallows. We loved it! 5. Game offers wine!!!!! Oh how I love wine. And they have a great wine list including one of my faves- Sexual Chocolate. At $15 a glass that's way too expensive for me, but my friend picked up the bill! I wish Hammerheads had wine. Overall, Game was great. I also love that there was zero wait time and our server was knowledgeable about everything on the menu.

First time here early dinner hour yesterday. Meh. I wanted bison, they were out of bison. No big deal. I got the prime burger. It was fine, really. After adding caramelized onions, bacon and a couple of sauces to try w the burger and fries, my burger came to $17 (yes, just the burger). Jack Fry's and Proof's and Holy Grale's burger(s) blow this one OUT OF THE WATER, hands down. I found it odd that the duckfat fries were brought out close to 15 min before our burgers. We didn't order it as an appetizer. We were all a bit confused. We tried to at least get the server to bring the extra sauces we ordered to eat with the tasty fries. Whatever. Again, it was fine, but nothing to rave about. The Prime Burger w Bleu cheese was just what you'd expect. The bacon, however, was soggy, soft and not crispy. Boo. Sauce choices were good. I had the tomato jam and smoked honey Dijon. They also provided a wasabi ranch, I think. My dinner partners had the s'mores for dessert. I didn't partake. Not sure if it's in house marshmallows. The graham crackers did look house made along w a big schmear of Nutella. It looked and smelled decadent. I'm happy to see a few veggie choices. Plus, the menu is pretty straight forward. It was a fine dinner. If one is looking to be adventurous this could be your place. Maybe that's the draw to Game. I grew up with venison for lots of meals, so no adventure there. Server was good, environment was fine. I'd go back. But, it would not be my first choice for a burger.

Wild boar was great on a pretzel bun with the goat cheese and cranberry jalapeño sauce. Good beer selection. Pork belly with the scotch eggs was phenomenal. Will definitely be back.

Wandered in there on a random Tuesday night around nine was not very busy at all. We were seated right away. More people were starting to trickle in as the hour went on. Decor really sets the woodsy atmosphere. Really cool tables that look like a tree stump section. If you have never been there before, I would suggest trying to different meatballs first since the burgers are kind of pricey. Meatballs are good size (four or five bites). We tried the kangaroo, wagyu, wild boar, duck and elk meatballs. I liked the wagyu and wild boar the best. Kangaroo had kind of a gamey taste to it, duck was strong also, but elk was good. You must get the truffle oil fries!! They are so good. Don't even need ketchup. We will be back to try more! Heard this place is packed on the weekends and earlier dinner times, so definitely try and go and random week night. They don't have too many tables and don't take reservations or call aheads. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. Answered any questions we had.
(4)S C.
To be straightfoward, I like Hammerheads more. The food didn't blow me away like it did at Hammerheads. We tried the wild boar and elk burgers. I felt the wild boar was a little too heavily spiced on some bites for me to really taste the meat. If I didn't want to taste some wild game, I wouldn't have come! I felt the same with the elk. Though I am big fan of the cranberry-jalapeno jam that came with my burger...it complimented the burger well. Sweet potato fries were average, nothing to write home about.

Restaurants are experiences. They influence our moods, our conversations, and our memories. With that in mind, I simply don't understand people who live in an incredible, up-and-coming culinary hotspot like Louisville and decide to eat at national chain restaurants. There are too many incredible regional and local options. And Game falls on that list. I visited for the first time in late April 2013. An old friend insisted that someone with my carnivorous approach to life must try this place. I cannot thank her enough for the introduction. As a preliminary matter, the beer selection is great for a restaurant of its size, but for what I had planned an ice cold PBR in a can was the perfect selection. After reviewing the menu, I decided to construct what can only be described as the richest burger in the history of the universe. The menu is broken down in such a way as to allow the more adventurous customers to create their own burgers. However, for those who aren't familiar with game meats or food combinations in general, I highly recommend sticking to the back of the menu. There you will find each of the game meats, paired with various breads, cheeses and extras that naturally compliment the meat you're looking to try. For me, however, my goal was not something that most would attempt. I started with the ground duck, added herbed goat cheese, foie gras, and bone marrow mayo sandwiched between slices of brioche. From there, I selected the fries fried in duck fat, with some wasabi ketchup for dipping. It arrived at the table along with a message from the cooks in the back: "This burger looks FREAKIN' good." And it was. It was precisely what I was looking for, was cooked beautifully, and while I could have asked for a little more bone marrow mayo, the overall product was spot-on. I highly recommend this place, and will definitely return. But, perhaps my heart condition warrants trying something a little more cardio-friendly next time.

This place rules. Great service, great food.... just outstanding. Go. Now. I don't personally eat Fois Gras but they have a Fois Gras funnel cake dessert that is not on the menu that everyone was raving about. My husband got the Ostrich burger and says it is "rich, aromatic, and savory." He loved every bite of it.

Quite simply, I think this is the second-best (beef) burger you can get in Louisville. Holy Grale is my #1, for the record. But for a unique meat-devouring experience, you won't find anything else like Game. I prefer the leaner meats, like elk and antelope. You can customize it however you want. I did learn an interesting tidbit from our server that the leaner meets are cooked with a bit of brisket for flavor...so it may not be the "game" in its purest form. But no matter, it is still delicious. The only point of improvement could be the french/sweet potato fries. They're pretty basic and underwhelming.

Food was good, but not spectacular. Good sized portions. It was a Monday night and the place was really full. Probably they were understaffed and the service was quite poor.

As excellent as the burgers are (and they're really, really good), nothing could come close to compensating for the rude conduct of the owner, who came storming out of the kitchen to "solve" a problem with our order and was so offensive in his words & demeanor we walked out. No amount of venison or elk or marrow mayo can lure us back. Sorry Game, we wanted so much to love you.

My fiancé and I arrived and got a little nervous due to the decor. Since we wanted to try something new, we decided to go in. The menu was a little intimidating with things like truffle mayo and pomegranate jam. Then we ordered.... The food was top notch! I wanted to try one of the unusual meats but was afraid to order one as a burger so we ordered a kangaroo meatball. Loved it! I was tempted to alter the burger to the normal way I eat my burgers (I'm a coward), but chose to stick with the chef's recommendation, with no regrets. I was surprised! Then we got an order of their fries and I'm not sure I've ever tasted better. We recommend this place and will definitely be going back to try other options from their menu.

I met a friend at Game a few weeks ago, it was a first meal there for both of us. My friend uses a wheelchair so I called ahead to determine accessibility. I was advised that both indoor and outdoor seating was accessible. I got there ahead of my friend who drives a large van with a ramp and I was worried that there would be no place for him to park (no dedicated accessible space in the tiny lot). I expressed my concern to one of the service staff and she immediately went out to the back of the restaurant and found a corner he could maneuver in and out of with little difficulty, not an "official" parking space. I called him to let him know where to park. We were off to a promising start. Dinner was delish. We shared the Caesar salad which was grilled romaine with a very light dressing and some crusty grilled bread, a finely deconstructed first course. We also shared a massive basket of sweet potato fries and plowed into our respective burgers. I played it safe and had a salmon burger with spinach, brie and caramelized onions. He had antelope and a boatload of toppings. The space inside the restaurant is smallish but the table service is attentive and they don't pack tons of tables in. There was a wait (we got there on the earlyish side) and the bar was also full with diners. The deck area was to capacity, despite the heat. While there were people waiting, we never felt like we were rushed to give up our table. In fact, we were coaxed into sharing a dessert by one of the servers. We had stout cheesecake with a pretzel crust. The cheesecake was really the only miss of the evening. The texture was grainy and the crust was tough and tasted stale. This is definitely a place for the adventurous and those with deep pockets, but worth (almost) every penny.

I have heard a lot about this place so we decided to try it out. The beer list had plenty to choose from and will make almost anyone happy. I chose to have a bison burger and my dining partner chose the wild boar, We split an order of sweet potato fries. The portions were very generous and the taste was amazing. Our server was very kind and seemed enthusiastic about giving us advice on beer pairings to compliment our food. My burger came out a bit too rare for my taste but there was no problem in sending it back for additional cooking. Overall I have to say it was a great place and I will defiantly add it to the list of places to hit again.

Absolutely fantastic food! Atmosphere wasn't spectacular but the food more than made up for it!

DO YOU THINK THIS IS A GAME!? Alright now that THAT is out of my system, let's talk about Game. If you're looking for meat, you've come to the right place. Game (brought to you by your friends at Hammerheads) is a place that pretty much exclusively deals in burgers made from exotic meats. And they are all excellent. "But wait, have you TRIED all of them?" you might ask...well no, but you're just going to have to trust me the way that I have trusted Game. The beer selection is excellent, which is always a huge selling point for me. The fries are great, much like their brethren at Hammerheads. The service was excellent, the house wasn't packed but they were fairly busy, everything was expedient and the server was attentive without being overbearing. Prices...be prepared to open your wallet a little bit, this place isn't cheap. I almost dropped this place from 5 stars to 4 based on the fact that I paid $20 for a burger. But you know what, I'll gladly pay $20 for that burger again. Now, not everything is THAT much but a few of the high-end items (like the Wagyu) will make you shell out some extra green. In the end, Game was worth every penny.

Good food. Not Great Service. Had a great Wild Boar Burger per chef recommendation. It was tasty and paired perfectly. Ordered a glass of Malbec - tasted terrible & I would swear the bottle had spent some time sitting on a concrete floor absorbing THAT flavor. Stick to the beer menu. I will probably try this place again but I will get a different waitress because even though she tried to explain what a Malbec was suppose to taste like, she didn't do it in order to educate me (which she need not do since I KNOW what a Malbec is supposed to taste like and it is not stone/concrete undertones), it was more like she was trying to educate me to the fact that I was a dumba**. So, in conclusion, I will go back but not to be seated in her section. Kthxbi!

If you don't like waiting, or you need a comfortable "waiting area" if you are willing to wait, this probably isn't the place for you. If you want food that is worth waiting an eternity for, get your face to Game. Just their sweet potato fries are good enough to get me there.
(5)Jo M.
If you like a long, leisurely meal, definitely go here. The servers are friendly, but VEEEEERY slow! The Scotch eggs didn't knock my socks off, but my lamb burger was fantastic! The hubby's kangaroo burger was also delicious. The fries were great!. They have a nice beer selection. If only their servers can be more Johnny On-the-Spot!
(3)Kiera M.
I've eaten here several times and have really liked the food. I am not a huge meat eater but do enjoy a good burger on occasion. Game delivers. Interesting choices in meat, cheese, topping and bread. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and look cute dressed in their flannel shirts. Good place to grab a brew and burger or maybe some bone marrow (mmmm). It is a cool atmosphere and overall a great addition to the Louisville food scene.
(4)John B.
I got the meatballs again! I tried the Elk, kind of dry and not much flavor; Duck, not bad but a little to chewy for me; Lamb, by fav my favorite in my two visits and the fries. They are thin and got the single order, there were plenty. I sat at the bar and the service was great. I will be back!

Who doesn't want to eat all the animals? That's what Game promises. But what they don't tell you is that you're gonna have to get savage if you want to get a table. They don't take reservations. Hell, they don't even answer their phone. It's all asses and elbows any given night. What's with that trend? It makes customers feel like the contents of their wallet, not their dining experience, is what's important. And, really, the food at Game is good enough and interesting enough that they can get away with it. I had the meatball sampler, containing kangaroo, antelope and wild boar. It was different and delicious. And gave me the poops of a mighty lion for the next few days. I also had the duck burger, medium rare, with foie gras. Because I'm a decadent mo-fo, a'ight.? They also have a bone marrow appetizer that you can eat right out of the bone, which obviously, is super cool. But, it took over an hour to get a table and forever to order. Once we were able to get someone to pay attention to us, the food did come out relatively quickly. But damn, you have to fight for your right to get fed up in there. Although the food was great, and I would recommend it to a friend, I probably won't be going back any time soon because of the aforementioned shortcomings in customer service. Yeah, I get it, let's be trendy and woo! Louisville restaurants, we're so cool. But one of the things that makes Louisville awesome is not having to be all pretentious while eating a slab of exotic animal. I've also recently heard that the proprietors offer half-off foie gras when the animal rights protesters are out and about. The snark shark in me loves that.

I'm gonna go ahead and weigh in here even though I plan on revisiting a few more times, aka these four stars are not the final tally. Like any frequenter of Hammerheads I was more than psyched to see what those folks' brilliant minds would dream up for this restaurant called simply but intriguingly, Game. After my first visit, lets see we've got...truffle oil fries, check. Craft beers, check. Customers and servers clad in plaid, check. The beloved elk burger, check. A la carte menu, check. Food comes out as it's ready, check... Sound familiar? Yeah, Game is essentially a Hammerheads part 2. Like I said I absolutely love Hammerheads so that's great news for me. But lets talk about where these two differ? -less of a wait time (at least on this one particular weeknight visit) -cider options -small parking lot instead of simply street parking -flexibility to build your own burger -huge array of meat options, as expected -pricier menu options overall Also of note, our particular server did a fabulous job of talking through the meat options ranking how game-y each type of meat tastes. So don't worry if you have no clue. If you want a different experience than Hammerheads you might have to spend a bit more money here. I had the venison burger for $12 and it was superb as always but next time I think I'll splurge for the Ostrich for almost twenty bucks. If you're not going to try out these new options Game is bringing to the table, well why not just go to Hammerheads?

When I first heard that the guys at Hammerheads were opening a new restaurant I was super psyched to try it out. After eating at Game twice, the first time, the first week it opened and the second time, about a month later, I feel confident enough to give it my stamp of approval. With servers all clad in plaid flannel shirts, along with wood furnishings, it reminds me of a hipster diner. I thought the burgers were delicious. They were juicy, flavorful, very well seasoned and quite sizable. I had the Kangaroo burger which I really enjoyed. The meat had a unique, kind of sweet flavor. My boyfriend had the Wagyu burger which was also excellent (honestly, I would be pissed if wasn't for $20). We also had that Wagyu beef tar tar appetizer which was delicious, although I thought the bone marrow mayo was unnecessary. Other Yelpers have complained about the service but I thought the service was great both times I came. The first time I sat at a table and the second I sat at the bar. I arrived around 8:30 pm both times and, despite the restaurant being pretty packed, There was no wait to be seated. My only qualm is this: If you're going to charge top dollar for a burger it should come with a side. I find it insulting to have to pay $2 extra for a side of fries when my burger is already priced in the mid teens. I don't care if it's chips, fries, or cole slaw. None of these cost a lot, but they can really make a huge difference in a customer's experience. While the burgers are great, I really think Game's appetizers are where its at. When I return I plan on sampling several of the different game meatballs and then splitting a couple of appetizers. The couple sitting next to us ordered the bone marrow and it looked killer. I'll definitely be back to try it.

In this Game of Life* rare opportunities arise to try so many different flavors under one roof. Let me give you some Clue*'s as to why Game is the next best Louisville staple in town. 1. On one side of the menu you are allowed to Scrabble* all the meats and toppings to make a custom burger. On the other side are the Chef creations. 2. Game has the Monopoly* on different meats including Elk, Rabbit, Deer, Kanagroo, Duck, Lamb and Boar. There are even meatball samplers for the meat so patrons can get a smaller taste. 3. The Twister* is that for a place called Game they have vegetarian options. I tried the Poblano Corn Garbonzo burger and still felt every savory juicy flavor as if I was eating a true meat based burger. 4. There was a Candy Land* of beer selection offered. My friend and I paired our burgers with a stout on tap and bottle of Belgian wheat. Check out the Game Facebook page for picture of their beer cage. 5. This is the same owner that started Hammer Heads, a staple for BBQ. You can catch many of the great service staff at Hammerheads playing Chinese Checkers* between these two restaurants and helping out at both venues. 6. It was like a Chess* strategy figuring out all we could eat on our first visit. We also tried the grilled Caesar. The grilled romaine leaves were not limp and not over charred. The salad was large enough for a meal or two to share. For a side we got the truffle oil shoestring fries, the description alone is making me salivate again. 7. Game is a different concept then any I have seen in greater Louisville. Trust me you will not be Sorry* to be adventurous and order the special of the day or any non-angus meal. We tried the Rabbit Special and I was amazed how little game flavor I tasted. It was cooked perfectly and topped with a delicious aioli. This restaurant is a unique flavor experience for everyone to try. *All games are trademarked...however this review is not so feel free to share!

My experience at Game has been nothing but first rate. Yeah you gotta wait a few minutes for table to open but the owner waved me over to the bar and asked if I wanted to order a drink while I waited...so no biggie. Once seated I started of with the tar tar sliders which were phenomenal. Either build your own burger or choose from an extensive set burger list, you cannot go wrong either way. The side of fries now has a whe slew of dipping saucea to sample. The beer selection is quite good. Don't just try the drafts...there are some quality bottled choices in the cooler. I am not sure why the negative comments on the service. It was crazy busy when I've been there but the waitstaff seems genuinely eager to please and accommodate. Always ready with a suggestion or advice as far as I could hear. Not just to me but to folks around me. I personally like it better than Hammerheads primarily because of the more head room (literally) and seating arrangements. Another plus in the must-try-when-visiting-Louisville list.

I had high expectations after going to Hammerheads and hoping for some really great burgers. What you get is mediocre service and overpriced food. First of all, it's incredibly disorganized, there's no hostess stand and no way to tell if anyone knows you are there or who's in line. They put is in a table in the middle of the restaurant and when a booth got up we asked to be moved. It took about 20 minutes for a server to come to us and she kept forgetting things like bringing a beer when ordered, waters, etc. The fries came out first, which I just think is weird and the burgers we're just meh. We decided that all of the burgers were spiced the same and you couldn't really distinguish between the meat. Don't the food experts say the best burger is one that is just seasoned with salt and pepper?? Overall not impressed and won't be back!
(2)Drew P.
The food was excellent. Very flexible burger options, which is what I'ld expect if I am paying in the teen's for my burger alone. Which leads me to my next point. As mentioned in earlier reviews, not having a side complimentary, be it fries or anything for that matter, made me feel as if I was being cheated. Obviously THEY know that the customer will want fries, so they can charge extra, but regardless, it was definitely a knock on the rating for me. Relatively, there is not much room for large parties and unless its nice outside you'll be waiting a while no matter what table size you need for a space inside the building. That's just the reality of a popular place such as this with limited parking and seating. Overall, service was 8/10 and staff was generally helpful I Would go again, but this place is best suited for couples and smaller groups who don't mind waiting 20-30 minutes on a normal night.

Best burgers. Already becoming a regular here. First, before getting to the food, let me address the parking situation for those reviewers complaining: there is extra parking across the street. I've never been unable to find a space. The food is awesome, never had a unsatisfactory meal. I've created my own burger combo and I've chosen from the chef recommendations; always good. Kangaroo, ostrich, duck, salmon, wild boar, salmon and antelope have all been perfect. Pretzel bun is my recommended bread of choice. Sweet potato fries with tomato jam, bone marrow mayo on everything. Two people can get great burgers and sides of fries for $25. I've had the scotch eggs as a starter before (one reviewer seemed confused that "starters" meant "appetizers." Really, dude?) Anyway, best scotch eggs ever. These made the ones at Irish Rover taste like an appetizer in your grocery store freezer. The service is great. Chris at the bar is a rad dude. The servers are nice. Seriously people who complain about service - are you expecting hand on foot service - someone standing by your table for your every need? This is a burger joint. Also, some dude that said this place is expensive - this isn't Applebee's $9.99 platter special. You can eat cheap here or eat pricey. You have that option. As long as I get a burger and beverage without any asshole attitude, I don't care too much. All is good here! Don't hassle the bartender - he'll get to you when he gets to you. You'll get your drink. Also, if you're waiting for a table and want a drink at the bar, have cash unless you're getting $10+ worth of drinks. Summary: rad burgers. That's all. Not recommended for kids. There is no kids menu, it's not kids food, and I also don't like kids and would rather not eat my awesome burger with your kid dancing around my booth. Go to McDonalds.
(5)Jordan M.
My recommendation is to give this place a few months to work out the timing kinks. The food is excellent, but for now, I'd recommend showing up on a weeknight, early on the weekend, or not at all. I think the turnaround will get significantly faster over time, but for now, avoid this place on Friday and Saturday nights unless you want to turn your gourmet burger and fry fix into a 2.5 hour outing. Along with the likely to improve turn around time, they have not figured out the demand for each type of burger, so if you show up on Saturday night (like I did), some of the burgers on the menu may not be available. I'll give the place a little more time to get all the kinks worked out before I try a Friday or Saturday night again. Note, this isn't about the service, the staff were as friendly as you could want, they just didn't prepare for this type of demand.
(3)Jessica L.
Just like a previous reviewer mentioned, I wanted to give them a higher star review but there were major issues that the delicious food couldn't overcome. I really hope they get on their A-game (see what I did there?). My husband and I went to Game with a group of 6. We arrived around 6:30 and waited for an hour in the bar area (there are only 3 tables that accommodate parties of 6). There isn't much of a place to wait (3 chairs against a wall.....) so we were huddled at the end of the bar. It was a giant tease watching all the food walk past us. Finally, we were seated on the patio area. While it is enclosed, it is NOT insulated, so come prepared to sit basically outside. They have small overhead heat lamps, but they were totally insufficient. We ordered quickly after being seated, as we were all starving by that point. As a group, we ordered 3 meatball platters - 2 of which were supposed to be the same. One of them (of course mine) was not what I had ordered - but still delicious, nonetheless. We got the waygu (spelling?) beef and kangaroo (even though I ordered ostrich). The food runner also was not able to tell us which one was which, which was another bummer. Nonetheless, they were both delicious. Now, on the menu it states that things leave the kitchen as they are ready. That's all good and well, but when multiple people in the party order the same thing (kangaroo burger) and one receives their food 20 minutes later, that is just ridiculous. Also ridiculous is having fries show up 45 minutes after the first food was dropped - well after everyone finished eating. They were good, but COME ON. It appeared that servers were just taking other tables' food for their own instead of checking tickets. I know it's growing pains, but with their resumes sporting Hammerheads and Seviche, I expected better service from this place. In short: Give Game a chance. Eat the kangaroo burger.
(2)Enid C.
A burger place by the guys who brought you Hammerheads. Burger options include Angus, bison, duck, wild boar (?), ostrich (?!), kangaroo (???!?), and more random animals plus 3 house made veggie burgers. You have a similarly varied choice of breads (pretzel, brioche, focaccia....), cheeses (American, herbed goat, brie...), condiments and "extras" (grilled romaine, foie gras, pork belly, egg...). For the indecisive, there are chef's suggestions of different burger combinations on the back of the menu. You also can make your own meatball sampler, which allows you to try hefty balls of different meats without the commitment of an entire burger. In the Hammerheads style, they have fries, with or without truffle oil or duck fat. Ambience is rustic yet upscale, reclaimed wood, etc. Limited seating. Noisy. They have a patio. Parking kind of sucks but there's a lot across the street. Pretty good beer list. Dessert sounded delicious. All in a very tasty and interesting dining experience.

I had the pleasure of trying out Game last weekend. I've heard a bunch of my friends talking about this place and I was excited to try it out. One of the owners actually used to train Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with me before he opened Hammerheads. Anyways I had a taste of the camel burger and I had the elk burger for myself (as recommended on the menu along). With the burger I had with truffle fries and the cider that the waitress recommended. Everything was great and service was fantastic. The flavors are wildly crazy like you might expect when eating something like. . . camel. There is a slight gaminess to the food which adds a certain level of novelty to food, plus how often do you get to tell someone you ate elk? If you like burgers and want something a little different give Game a try. The one thing I did notice was that it was already packed and me and my friends purposely went during non peak hours (6pm). I had read a lot of reviews where people knocked the service saying it was poor. I'm sure there are instances of bad service but I would venture to say it was more of a product of being slammed with a huge amount of guests all at once. Maybe I'm just sympathetic to servers because I was one years ago but. . . give them a break. :)

(This review only gives them two stars but its due to service problems which Im sure they will soon work out. The food is amazing!) So I turned 41 today, and given my love for all things Hammerheads I veered off my plans to do Charim (Korean) tonight and instead went by Game to see if we could grab a seat. We managed to get in with only a ten minute wait, which was awesome. And the food was as good as its always been at Hammerheads. Their shtick here seems to be burgers done with wild and unusual meats such as antelope, ostrich, elk, kangaroo, etc etc. They had the signature Hammerheads fries which you can order with a side of the same house made sauces used to dress the burgers with. They had house made onion rings on the menu which I was eager to try, but our waitress claimed they werent offering those anymore. To difficult to make. As I said the food was as good as always. I would however suggest waiting a few weeks to go, while they get the service details ironed out. We initially waited on by a young man, who then seemed to abandon us after getting us water. Later watching what he was doing it seemed he was only supposed to be bussing and greeting people at the door. A new waitress appeared, apologized and took our drink and food orders. We ordered the Scotch eggs, which appear in the menu under the heading "Starters". Which would lead one to believe they are appetizers? We also ordered two burgers, two orders of fries and two custom dipping sauces. My order of fries came out far before anything else. When I told the waiter (not our waitress) dropping them at our table that we had ordered the Scotch Eggs as an appetizer, his response was "we bring the food out while its hot and fresh. You will get the eggs eventually." My thought was, well damn good thing I didnt order dessert then! They might have brought that out first! Come to find out the waitress never fired the order for our eggs. Which finally came long after we had our burgers and everything else. I had them still bring them simply so I could try them. Finally our bill came and none of our alcoholic beverages were on our check. I assumed the waitress comped them due to the problems with our order? Luckily for her I was an honest guy and asked first though. Nope, she hadnt comped them. For whatever reason they simply hadnt put them on the bill. She added one beer and comped the other two rewarding my karma and honesty at least partially. Quite simply the food is just as good as it was at Hammerheads and they have a hellacious beer menu. But give them a week or two to work out the service kinks.

After dining at Game on four occasions, I can honestly say I've yet to have a bad experience. The service is on point, the burger options are interesting and tasty, and the fries are nothing less than scrumptious. Beware, a full order of fries will leave you with an overwhelming mound of crispy goodness to conquer- it can easily be shared between two people. If you're not into eating meat, that's okay! Try their grilled mushroom and red lentil burger, and be sure to ask for the brioche bun. Sometimes you just want a burger- I always choose Game to satiate my random burger cravings.
(5)Tiffany J.
Very interesting restaurant and experience. I was overwhelmed with the meat choices because I had never ate wild game before (except for the occasional deer jerky). My server was excellent and answered all my questions. He recommended I try a sampler of meatballs, which I did - Elk, Antelope and Wagyu. Other friends ordered kangaroo burgers. The fries were great, but for even better fries - go to Hammerheads and get Grippos fries. The meatballs were all good, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference between them and regular beef. Maybe my taste buds are not refined enough to tell the difference between a grass feed, shipped from the wild, massaged and pampered creature to a regular beef burger. The meatballs were a pretty good size (I recommend ordering 3 or 4) and came sitting on some sort of mayo and sweet sauce that looked like jelly. The sauces were fantastic, but I wish the dish came with more. The meat could get a little dry. The kangaroo burger was the one we were all most anxious to try and it was pretty delicious. The sauce is what made all the burgers stand out. I would have thought the kangaroo was beef also if I didn't know any better. I enjoyed Game because it is something different. Where else can you get kangaroo burger in Kentucky?! However, I love Hammerheads more.
(3)Zach C.
I am teetering on giving game a 4-star rating. If you are looking to try something new without straying too far into the exotic, this is the place for you. Game offers you flavors beyond beef and chicken, but presents it in familiar form: the burger. The kangaroo burger and the elk burger I tasted were quite tasty. The bone marrow wasn't bad either. I am giving game one less star because I tend to agree with other reviewers that the sides leave much to be desired. It is a tad on the pricey side as burgers go and I am fine with this. But please.... do a better job with the sweet potato fries. I didn't think that was something you could mess up. I would go back I think to try the other meats.
(3)Richard K.
I've been here twice now, and I can safely say - deliciousness. Skip the Starters - they're fine, but I think a little pricey for what you get. And besides, you're there to bite into some burgers. The Elk burger is great. The level of customization you can do is both welcome and overwhelming. Nothing wrong with surrendering to your indecision and going with the Chef Recommendations. Also be sure to fry your fries in duck fat. Always fry with duck fat.
(4)Austin E.
It was awesome. Alicia was my waitress and she kicked ass. She gave great beer and food recommendations! I got the kangaroo and loved it. Highly recommended!
(5)Lana L.
In love with this place! Been here twice and craving it more and more every time!!!

Game is the brainchild Hammerheads co-owners. If you love Hammerheads more than likely you'll like this place. I tried to check Game last Saturday night and was faced with over an hour wait so I decided to check it out during the week so the wait wouldn't be so bad. I ended up going to Game on a Tuesday night (2/19). We got there about 6:30 and had a small wait of 15 mins or so. Someone quickly came up and told us there was a wait, put our name on the list, and offered to get us a drink while we wait. I thought that was a nice thing to do to make our wait go by faster. After milling over the selection of burgers and the plethora of things you can do to it, I decided to go with the kangaroo burger with cheddar, greens, and garlic aioli. It was de-lish-ous. If you've never had kangaroo before I think it kinda taste like a sweet filet mignon. It's not gamey at all. Don't be scared to try it out. Also, I was glad to see that Game has the same addicting truffle fries that Hammerheads offers. A few things to note about Game that hasn't really been said yet: 1) Game, just like Hammerheads, has fairly limited seating (maybe a 100 give or take), so be prepared to wait. 2) On the back of their menu they offer recommendations of what burger pairs with what toppings. It's a nice place to start if you're unsure what to get or if all of the choices are a little too overwhelming. 3) Parking is limited, so if their parking lot is full park across the street on Etley Ave. August Moon has signs posted that Game parking is not allowed. I am already thinking of the next burger combination I will get next time I go to game.

Overall it was a decent experience. My burger was over cooked and a little pricey. The beer selection is decent but no bar which is a big deterrent for me. The Scotch Eggs were a bit different and not my favorite there. The upside is they have a nice screened in patio and the service was average.

Delicious! Yummy! We arrived around 7 and was lucky to find a parking space. Once we got inside we had to wait in a line that ended at the door (poor folks behind us had to wait outside). We waited around 10 minutes for a waitress to approach us and add our name to the list. We were given the option of indoors with a 30-45 minute wait or enclosed patio with heating lamps. We chose enclosed patio and it wasn't that bad temperature wise. Our server came over not to long after we sat and went over the menu with us. I ordered the meatball samples of elk, venison and kangaroo and grilled ceasar salad (divine).I wanted antelope but they were out. One of my brothers ordered angus with foie gras and the other spring salad and lamb burger. We were very pleased with the food. I would suggest smaller wood plates because the table we sat at could not accommodate them comfortably along with drinks. I will come back and try more meatballs! Game on.....

Went here for dinner on a week night. Excellent beer menu, and the burgers live up to the hype! Do expect to wait for at least 20-30 mins during the dinner rush since the place is small. Parking is also at a minimum. But I would definitely go back here anytime, wait or no wait!

This was a fun place. Looks like a old restaurant from the 70's. I had the Elk she had the Kangaroo, both were perfect. We have been 2X and If I could give 1 piece of advice, It would be to order the Burgers as is from the Menu. They know what they are doing. Don't take away or add anything to the Burger.

Okay, here we go. I really want to give only one star, but i also want to be fair on my review. We ordered seasonal salad (goat cheese, cranberries, and apples), which was good. Ordered sweet potato fries with truffle oil that was fried in duck fat (truffle oil really didn't stand out much with sweet potato fries). This was also good. Ordered 8 meatballs (2 elk, 2 boar, 2 kangaroo, & 2 antelope). The two antelope and one of the Elk was raw in middle and cold. The waitress (Alicia) brought us one antelope back and did not offer to replace other two. I asked if she was going to take one off our bill (which was really two) and she said no since we had eaten some of it. She said she would also have to get manager to approve, but he would more than likely not take off causes the meatballs are suppose to be medium to medium well. However, this were raw in middle and we showed her. Remind you, this is a $3 meatball. A THREE DOLLAR MEATBALL! She acted so arrogant about the situation and I could not believe she wanted to argue about it. She later came back with bill with $3 taken off, but damage was done. I gave her a 20% tip and don't think I'll be back. Also, want to point out that none of the meatball were seasoned well. I could do a much better job at home.

this place is delicious. i had the Wagu ( Japanese Cow) burger. it was amazing. LOVED IT!!!!!

decent food but the loud place is packed with hipsters. parking is also a huge problem.

I have never had kangaroo meat before and wow was it delicious. The wild boar was excellent, as was the elk. i would love to do the "build your own burger" option one time, but knowing me it will end up being a $30 burger, haha.

I was really excited about Game due to my love of all things meat and it did not disappoint. Some in the group were a little less excited with their choices but it didn't dampen my experience. I was bummed that they were out of goat meat, but the venison burger with Gorgonzola was pretty tasty. I also liked the duck fat fries. Other things that we had included bison and kangaroo meatballs, which were good, and frog legs which were just ok. The scotch eggs were alright as well, but the pork belly that came with the dish was great. The vegetarian burger option with garbanzo beans was not a hit with the non meat eater in the group, but it is basically a meaty kind of place. They at least had 3 veggie burger options and at least one fish burger option if I remember correctly. So they do have variety for all type of eaters, which is great. Also the side options were good and the asparagus side came with a very good portion. It's not a fancy type place, but they do a great job preparing all the items that we tried. Hopefully next time they have the goat.

This place is awesome!!! I totally will be back. First time and asked waiter Brian what I should order so I trusted his judgment and it was on point. Had a meatball sampler to start: Bison, elk and wild boar. Then for dinner got the kangaroo burger with egg, cheese and raw onion on a pretzel roll with horseradish ranch dressing and sides were house chips and grilled corn on cob. It was incredible. Beer selection was great too. Winner!

Warning: you should not go to Game if you're a huge animal rights advocate and like to envision kangaroos cheerfully hopping along in the great outback...but you SHOULD go to Game if you're a big-time food advocate and lover. My mom, boyfriend and myself were looking for somewhere different to eat this last Saturday night and with everywhere practically filled to its brim we settled on this place...thankfully! Although we had to wait for about a half an hour to get seated it wasn't too terribly inconvenient, especially considering that we were at dinner around prime time. I have to say the restaurant itself is not excessively large, but with the limited space it does take up Game has a very cool vibe. Although I don't consider myself a "hipster" I would say that this place has a very modern-esque cool, funky hipster vibe to it. Don't let that fool you though because there were a range of people there, from families to group dates of all ages. (Everyone can be a hipster sometimes!) The food was excellent...once you get past the fact that you are possibly eating a once -very-adorable kangaroo. They have the option for you to make your own burger in which you can choose from the 'game', type of bun, cheese, regular toppings, specialty toppings and sauce. Some of the meat they had were, as I mentioned already, kangaroo (which is very popular and rightly so bc it is good - sorry to all you kangaroos out there), elk, angus, wagyu and so on. Believe me when I say they all would have been fine choices. I will say that some of the specialty toppings like the pineapple and avocado were out by the time I ordered my burger (@ 8:30) which kind of stunk but I didn't let thay deter me from having a great dinner. Just beware that some toppings may run out but that's only because they serve everything very fresh...everyone wants fresh food right? Right. So the moral of the story is: make your own burger and and you will be positively delighted with the outcome. Oh, and order the truffle fries - yummy in your tummy. Enjoy!!!!!!!!! P.s. the service is really great there and everyone is so kind! It's nice to have great service when you're going to a restaurant so you won't be disappointed in that regard. P.s.s. the peanut butter whipped pie with cookie crumble crust is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, no doubt. Just saying.

I LOVE when this happens: Friends and I had just left the airport, were hungry, and without knowing anything about the area, did a quick Yelp search for somewhere to stop on our way. Which brought us to Game, and we are so glad it happened! The two servers were extremely nice and helpful and had great suggestions for beer and food. One of my friends and I split two burgers: the grilled corn, poblano and garbanzo veggie burger and a "build your own" salmon burger with pineapple and avocado. I have to say, this was one of the best veggie burgers I've had in a LONG time, and Game was one of the top two meals we had while we were in Louisville.

This place is amazing! Exotic, delicious meats paired up with some tasty craft beers. With a knowledgeable and friendly bar and wait staff, what's not to love about this place? I frequently hit up Game on the way home from rugby practice. It's become my guilty pleasure!

I am a fan of Game's sister restaurant, Hammerheads, so I knew I would be giving Game a try. If you're looking for a unique dining experience, Game is your place! The menu includes a number of very interesting burger choices including wagyu, kangaroo, duck, elk, and antelope (this is just a sample). I have already had the venison burger at Hammerheads, and I assume it would be the same at Game (which is delicious). It came highly recommended, so I ordered the duck burger. You can build the burger however you like but the chef's recommendation comes with greens, fried egg, cranberry-jalapeno jam on focaccia bread. It's a very interesting mix of flavors, and the seasoning of the duck was extremely tasty. Heads-up my fellow tomato haters: although the chef's recommendation does not list tomato, it did come with a slice of tomato that was promptly removed as soon as I received the burger! I am not a fan of duck, but I am a fan of this duck burger! My friend ordered the kangaroo burger dressed with the chef's recommendation of greens, cheddar, and tomato jam on a pretzel bun. Warning: this also came with a surprise tomato. He described the kangaroo burger as having "a good flavor profile and good seasoning. The patty had good consistency and finished off with a great artisan bread." We shared a basket of sweet potato fries, which were just like the Hammerheads sweet potato fries. They're good, but they're not really anything special. Game does not have as many choices of fries as Hammerheads, but you can get regular fries in truffle oil or fried in duck fat just like at Hammerheads. Game is very unique and should not be missed! I will be back!

We ended up at Game on a whim. The smell of burgers and truffle oil was in the air as we stepped out of the car and my date said he was glad we stopped already. The restaurant is modern and comfy, with a new spin on the lodge feel. I noticed as we were leaving the huge billboard that is smack dab in the center of the deck/patio seating. An interesting and fun design element. Onto the food! We started with the wild boar, prime beef, and waygu meatballs. All tasty. My date and I both agreed that the beef tasted dull and flavorless after having a taste of the other two (although it a as still good) I had the wild boar burger, it was tasty, though a bit dry. Cooked just a bit too long I presume, but it was a nicely constructed burger as far as flavors. Wild boar, goat cheese, greens, and a cranberry relish. My date got the kangaroo, and he liked it. Mentioned that it tasted like a 'regular ol burger' it was on a pretzel bun and had tomato jam. Our favorite by far was the truffle oil fries, which I'm sure is no different from any other review on here- they are crack fries. We ate every single crumb.

Tried a kangaroo burger here and was worried about it tasting "gamey" but it was so full of flavor you don't notice it much. They serve pretzel buns here which were soft and compliments the burger well. They also have pre-selected burger combos but you can create your own as well. Other kinds of meat at available as well including elk, bison, etc. Also tried the bone marrow which I've had once before at a Vegas buffet. This was MUCH tastier. Duck fat fries were greasy and delicious. C'mon...fried in duck fat - doesn't get any better than that!

This place is all about the "game". First impression was ok, it's a little dated, but they did have outdoor seating, so I was happy. The weather was nice. The employees must be required to have piercings, tattoos, and a funky fashion. That's cool. Our server was friendly, there when we needed her, and made great suggestions. We figured the best way to try the game was to order the balls ( meatballs silly:). That way you can pick and choose in small amounts. If you love it, get another...if you don't, no biggie (they are reasonably priced $2-7). I tried the ones that I've never tried before... Waygu, Wild Boar, and Kangaroo. Order medium cook so you get the best flavor. They all three were good. The Kangaroo was my favorite. They put a swipe of smoke truffle mayo on the cutting board for added flavor. We also ordered the scotch eggs which were smack the table (but don't knock the drinks over) good! I love my yellow runny. It's just fun to cut into them and then watch the display of sunshine pour out. As we left I noticed the cool tables inside. They are big chunks of tree pieces., which goes along with the game thing. The bar area had a nice counter too. Parking was limited. I think we got the best spot. I like when that happens. Overall...really great experience.

Absolutely love Game. My boyfriend and I come here almost every other week. I always get the bison burger and it never disappoints. This is coming from someone who doesn't like meat. Also, try one of their seasonal salads! I've had two so far and they were both amazing. (Save money and get a whole one and split it.) I'm giving four starts because the first time I went, I got one of their veggie patties and it fell apart during my first bite. I make vegetarian burgers all the time and if an inexperienced cook can do that, then I think a restaurant should be able to as well. Especially if they are going to put those options on their menu.

My sister and her boyfriend mentioned doing dinner here a few times while I was in town and I didn't realize how many times I had driven by it during my touristy ventures in Louisville. It's easy to miss. So finally one night, we made it in and since there weren't many people there, we were seated right away on the patio. I absolutely love patio dining and during warm weather, don't really think there is any other way to dine out. The only disappointment here is that Game seems to be located in the middle of nowhere, so there is no view to enjoy except for that of the brick wall which encloses Cave Hill Cemetery. I ordered the antelope burger, medium well, as it was described on the menu: with greens, tomato, Swiss, & roasted garlic aioli on a brioche bun (but do wish I had substituted the pretzel bun). The burger was really good, definitely one of the better burgers I've ever had. We also ordered two baskets of fries for the table to share: one truffle oil and the other duck fat. The duck fat fries didn't seem to be anything special as far as I was concerned...maybe crispier than regular fries? Those truffle oil fries though, I could have eaten just those and been perfectly content. They were amazing. I'm not sure what was previously in this building but it seems like it was set up to accommodate a drive-thru rather than a parking lot, as another reviewer mentioned. So be aware that navigating the parking lot can be tricky.

I had been wanting to go to Game for a while, so when my birthday rolled around and my wife wanted to take me out to dinner, that's where we went. I was a little surprised when we arrived and saw the place. It's kind of off the beaten path, it has a tiny parking lot, and the building looks more like a fast food joint than a sit-down restaurant (I suspect that's what it used to be). But inside, it's very nicely appointed with rustic charm. The staff was very friendly from the minute we walked in, and we were there for early dinner, so service was very fast. We started with a meatball trio - wild boar, kangaroo, and elk. All were pretty good, but I particularly liked the wild boar. It has a familiar pork flavor, but at the same time, it doesn't taste at all like pork. Very unique. The burgers (wild boar and lamb) were delicious, as were the truffle oil fries. The only disappointment of the night was that they were out of antelope, because they apparently are (or were a month ago) having trouble sourcing it.

Was very unimpressed with my visit to Game tonight. First, if you're a burger joint, you CAN'T overcook a burger. I got the wagyu (18$) and my wife got the boar (15$), both ordered medium. But both came out well done. Second, the burger patties are not actually patties, but spherical. That poses real problems for actually eating the burger (especially when it's overcooked). The sweet potato fries were fine, but unimpressive for 4$. Won't be coming back to Game. Very underwhelming. Learn how to cook a burger!

Highly recommend going here if you want to be adventurous for dinner. I went with a group and was able to try the elk, kangaroo, and lamb burger. I can't complain about the food here...everything was outstanding. The elk was not gamey at all. The lamb was probably my favorite, it came with goat cheese which complimented it perfectly. The kangaroo was ok for me...I couldn't eat a whole burger of it. Has a unique flavor but I was glad I tried it. We tried the scotch eggs and bone marrow appetizers as well. If I had to pick just one, try the bone marrow. It's just not something I've ever had before and definitely not something I'd make at home. The fries! Big portions- One basket was shared with five girls. They have different options too..truffle oil or duck fat. We had truffle oil, they are like fries on crack to me. The staff is awesome, very knowledgeable about the menu and can help you figure out what dish is best for your taste. Good selection of beer too. Try the ginger ale on draft.
(5)Chris C.
My first time here. I was not disappointed. My friend had the Elk burger, I had the Wagyu. Cooked perfectly, juicy and one of the most delicious burgers I've had in a long time. We started off with the Scotch eggs with pork belly, that was a meal itself. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. I plan on going back many times to experience every butger!! Bonus, excellent craft beer choices. They had my favorite, Mirror Pond Pale Ale from Deschutes brewery. You will not regret trying this hidden gem!

Meatball sampler: kangaroo, wagyu and venison was DIVINE.. Bone Marrow: First time having it was crazy good. I am beyond impressed. Adrian not sure if that's how you spell her name was off the chain very attentive and down to earth.

Made the drive into Lburg for a more adventurous meal last night. I don't eat game very often, but I've always enjoyed it! Initial impression - the restaurant was much smaller than I expected, parking space is rather limited as well. I got a nice spot easily, but I wouldn't show up there in a large truck! I sat at the bar area, and the place was still pretty sparse but filled up quickly! Interior is nothing overly fancy, but it is somewhat cozy! Staff were super friendly from the moment I arrived, and the guy behind their bar was very knowledgeable about their menu and patient with my indecision haha! (he may have been an owner?) Food: I started off with the Bone Marrow app.. first time I've ever had it, and I really enjoyed it!! It is kind of a strange consistency if you're a first timer, but they use Parmesan and serve it with bread so that cuts that out a bit! Then I ordered the Wild Boar meatball to try, it came with smoked truffle mayo and cran-jalapeno jam, which definitely enhanced the already tasty meatball. For my meal I got the Kangaroo burger, the way the chef recommends, its a bit more "basic" than some of the other burgers but I still thought the flavor really stood out (didn't think it was overly gamey life some of the other reviewers) and the pretzel bun but was a nice touch! Overall, great service, and the food was delicious. Did I mention the prices were very reasonable? My only gripe was that they were out of Antelope.. but can't fault them for that, I'm sure its popular. Maybe next time! :)

Met up with a buddy here who recommended it as he knew I was wanting something different and unique. And Game delivered. Not what you might expect on the interior, and pretty limited parking, Game still was an instant favorite. I had the bone marrow appetizer and the kangaroo burger with sweet potato fries. Everything was cooked flawlessly and was loaded with taste. Literally want to go back and try every menu item (wagyu, antelope, elk, etc). Service was like the food: perfect. We have 2 young kids and I probably won't be bringing them here only because I don't see them really eating anything on the menu. But I know I will be back. One of the best places I have eaten in a while.

I love this place! The burgers are on point, the servers are always soooo very nice and always accommodating and helpful! I came here late At night after cochran hill dog park with akoya and her puppy friend sophie and the ace was packed! While we waited outside, 2 servers went OUT of their way to ask everyone if it would be ok with them if we came in with our pups. They are ALWAYSSSSSSSSS. so accommodating, i love this place for this, their food, their beer, and their awesome staff! I've been here at least 3 times and i have never been disappointed!!

(3)Chris Z.

(5)Victor R.
(4)Dawn H.

(4)Jl V.
Food was good, but not spectacular. Good sized portions. It was a Monday night and the place was really full. Probably they were understaffed and the service was quite poor.
(3)Bethany H.

(4)Jasmine A.

Awesome food, great atmosphere!! Had the kangaroo and lamb burgers... Outstanding!! Lisa from Chicago

(5)S C.
(3)Emily R.

(3)Markus B.
Just moved to Louisville & a friend recommended this place and wow, am I glad. A kangaroo burger with a huge side of seasoned fries. Washed it all down with a blue moon or two. The burger was beyond words. Just tasty all around. The fries were on point. Seasoned fries are hard to mess up in my opinion though. Staff was really great & totally relaxed. Even chatted with me about my tattoos & recommend the solid places for ink. Even welcomed me to the city. Great place. Highly recommended.
(5)Zach C.

(5)Joseph T.
I have all the time in the world for the people that run Hammerheads and Game. They get it. So Game is neat. Just check out the menu. Different meats to make burgers. Build your own or do a Chef Rec. Went with a buddy. When we visit somewhere, we order different foods and share. He ordered a goat burger and built his own. I ordered a kangaroo burger and did the chef rec. We also got 3 meatballs (duck, boar, and wagyu). And a side of truffle fries. Honestly? Everything was incredible. My favorite meats went in the order of the following: wagyu, kangaroo, goat, boar, duck. But it was all great. There was nothing really worth noting. The food was cooked amazingly. It has amazing flavor. It was moist. Nothing tasted "gamey." If you go with a picky eater who only eats chicken and hamburgers, they would even like this place. It really is for all palates. As well, it is a versatile restaurant, like Hammerheads. Whether you're on a date or just going to have a beer - it's good for any occasion. Limited seating and no call ahead. So expect a wait for dinner.
(5)Hank K.
Overall it was a decent experience. My burger was over cooked and a little pricey. The beer selection is decent but no bar which is a big deterrent for me. The Scotch Eggs were a bit different and not my favorite there. The upside is they have a nice screened in patio and the service was average.
(2)Trevor W.
Had a Friday off so me and the wife decided it was time to try Game (as they have bone marrow) on a recommendation from a friend. They also appear to have a good selection of beer and wine. So appetizers we ordered the Bone Marrow and the Scotch eggs with a Stiegl Radler and a Belgian Quadrupel. We split a Kangaroo burger for our meal. We ordered the Kangaroo burger medium based on the recommendation from the waitress but it came out see more rare than medium. I am fine with rare meat but the wife could not eat the center as too much blood so she only ate around the outside that was more done. Everything taste great but if you are not careful you can run your bill up pretty fast. Our bill was $55 for lunch for the two of us. Also you should probably not be in a hurry as service is a little slow. We waited almost 20 minutes to place our order. Overall really good food and if you are not in a hurry a really good and tasty lunch.
(4)Zee R.
Delicious!
(5)Haven R.
I've been dying to go here since I found it the last time I was here. The only reason it got 4 is because of the parking. Their are no parking places you just park along the side the curb around the restaurant. Very cramped. Any who the food is phenomenal. We ordered the meatballs first to sample what meat we wanted. Bison, elk, kangaroo, venison and wagyu. All really good except the kangaroo too gamey for me. Very intense. My finance liked the kangaroo. We both ordered the elk I got the truffle mayo on mine. omg best burger ever! Seriously. Order a side of fries with truffle oil. Best fries.

Went here for dinner on a week night. Excellent beer menu, and the burgers live up to the hype! Do expect to wait for at least 20-30 mins during the dinner rush since the place is small. Parking is also at a minimum. But I would definitely go back here anytime, wait or no wait!

The restaurant location just off I-64 was great as we were just passing through town on a road trip. The food came out fast which was also great for getting back on the road. I got the venison and my husband got the kangaroo. Both burgers were delicious! The flavors were very rich and neither burger was fatty or greasy. With a half salad and side of fries to share, it was the perfect amount of food for the two of us. I've never been to a restaurant with such a unique menu. A truly great find!

The day after & I still can't believe I tried so many different meats! I can't believe that I put off trying this place for so long since I love their sister restaurant so much; Hammerheads. It's great that this concept exists in Louisville. I'm giving Game 4 stars, but I really think it's more like a 3.5 rating for me. This review is difficult to start, but that might be because I'm currently suffering from a meat hangover(I wasn't aware that this symptom existed). I love meat & I commend any vegetarian out there for being able to glide through life without it. With that being said, I wouldn't take a vegetarian to Game(although they have 3 veggie burgers). I may love meat, but I'm even a little repulsed by how much I devoured! The Appetizers: I'm disappointed that I didn't order the Scotch Eggs, but they'll definitely be at the top of the list next time. For a meat place, there are a few tasty apps to choose from including Bone Marrow, Buttermilk Fried Frog Legs, or a salad. I decided to skip the appetizers this time & instead make our appetizer a meatball sampler. One of the smartest things about this place is the sampler. You can choose the meats you want to try in a more inexpensive meatball option. My table decided to go with a duck meatball, wagyu meatball, & wild boar. The duck was good. It was kind of dry, but I could see myself eating an entire burger with that meat. The wagyu(Japanese cow). According to Wiki, it's "the most desired of which is genetically predisposed to intense marbling." One bite of this meatball & I already knew I made a mistake in not ordering it as my burger! I could immediately taste the difference between this Japanese cow & the cows we have here in America. The wild boar meatball was my least favorite. Dry, bland, & more sausage tasting than burger. Sorry boar, but you just aren't that tasty. The Food: Meat! Meat! Meat! My date decided to order the Bison burger(Greens, Tomato, Colby Cheese, Smoked-Truffle Mayo, On a brioche bun). I had a bite of it. Nothing spectacular. If you want a bison burger... head on over to Frankfort Avenue to Bluegrass Burgers. On to my burger... I ordered the Kangaroo burger(Greens, Cheddar, Tomato-Jam, On a Pretzel Bun). Although I'll be ordering the Wagyu the next time, I loved the Kangaroo burger. It was tasty on a pretzel bun, but I can't help but wonder what it would taste like on brioche or some other type of bun. It seemed a little dry, but it had a unique flavor that made me want more. My only complaint about the burger is the temperature. The server asked us if medium-medium well was okay... & it came out closer to well than medium. I'm not sure how juicy kangaroo meat is, but I'm sure cooking it to almost well done didn't help. The Sides: My date went with the homemade chips. I liked them after eating only a few, but they seemed overcooked. A little crunchier than expected. I went with the hand cut fries(added fried in duck fat for 3 extra bucks). The fries weren't anything to write home about. Adding the duck fat part for an extra 3 bucks was a waste in my opinion. While the portion was great, the next time I'll be ordering the grilled corn or asparagus. The Beer & Wine: They have a nice size list of both. I decided to go with a local IPA favorite from Against the Grain. Side Notes: -- I'll go back. -- Not sure if this is really a date night spot. -- Larger than Hammerheads which is a huge plus. -- Some meats better than others. -- If you order a few things along with alcohol, the price can add up fast. -- If you don't like the pre-built burgers, you can create your own. -- They have specials where they use meat that's not on the regular menu. (Last night - Alpaca)

I have been hearing such wonderful things about this spot that I had high expectations for it. As a vegetarian, I was reluctant to try out a restaurant that was all about the meat. Alas, my curiosity got the better of me. I was pleased to find that they offer not only one veggie burger, but three. I asked for a recommendation from the server and was directed to the walnut quinoa option. My husband chose the lamb and we shared a basket of sweet potato fries. The fries were the best thing we had. My burger was so dry and tasteless, and my husband said that the rosemary in the lamb just didn't work for a burger. Because my favorite part of any meal is dessert, I was psyched by the description of the s'more with house-made graham crackers and Nutella. I was again disappointed. The crackers were so hard that I couldn't cut through them and chewing them took forever. Couple the disappointing fare with the lack of parking (we had to park across the very dangerous Lexington Road) and you can see why we won't be back. The owners have tried really hard to do something unique, both with the menu and the physical space, and it fell flat for me.

I have definitely been missing out! This past weekend, hubby and I found out why Game has been so popular for so long. The place is small, casual and chill. I started off with a glass of dry rose and hubby found his favorite wheat beer. I ordered a trio of meatballs: venison, duck and wild boar. I added an order of mac n cheese to complete my meal. I found the wild boar to be my favorite meat of the three. It was porky, yet better in a dark meat kinda way. Venison was also tasty. It is exactly how I remember venison should taste like: beefy with a slight tang. The duck meatball was a bit too gamy even for a duck lover such as me. The mac n cheese was okay, but it did taste better as leftovers the next day. Hubby's Angus burger was a thick, juicy patty but over salted. Although he said the inside of the patty was fine. Our bill was about $45 before tip, not a bad deal. This is a great place to amuse out-of-towners or test a first date's adventurous palate. We will definitely be back. I'm getting those Scotch eggs next time.

decent food but the loud place is packed with hipsters. parking is also a huge problem.

If you like Hammerheads, you'll like Game. If you LOVE Hammerheads, you'll LOVE Game, too. Hammerheads is the frat boy little brother and Game is the accountant with a master's degree and a luxury car. Or maybe that's me. But heck, I was a frat boy back in the day and today I am refined and classy, and game for Game. Highlights: -No wait. At least for me. But I am high-class. Or just came on a slower night and was able to avoid the coveting eyes of patrons longing for my table. Bonus is that, unlike fratty Hammerheads, you won't smell like a giant combination of grilled meats and french fries. -Burger selection. Why get beef when you can down an elk, kangaroo or, better yet, a wild boar/chorizo burger topped with cranberry-jalapeno jam and manchego cheese sandwiched between a big ol' everything bun? WILD! So juicy and flavorful I was able to convince the lady next to me to order it. -Grilled Caesar salad. Like, with grill marks. On the leaves. And not too soggy. Beautiful, my friends. -Truffle fries. No other description needed. But I hear their their duck fat fries are quack-tacular so... Now I never included healthy anywhere in my description and that's fine, cause variety is the spice of life and Game's variety should be indulged, but in moderation. As long as I keep heading back to Louisville I am making Game a part of my dining rotation. Besides, I've got 10 more meats to try, and every frat-tastic dude likes a challenge!

Is this place expensive? Technically yea... But does this place offer food of EPIC PROPORTIONS?! Yasssssssss I am always open to trying new food, so when this place was suggested as a place to eat for lunch, I was "game" (see what I did there?) upon arrival I noted that the restaurant was small, but smelt like all the meats they were cooking. Parking is a little cramped, but anymore all of the really good places to eat have limited parking. I ordered the following meatballs, all of which are gluten free by the way: elk, kangaroo, wagyu, and boar. They serve the balls on top of some type of fruit compote thing and this garlic mayo aioli. It's the bomb! Every meatball was like heaven in my mouth. Some meats were juicier than others, but I want to say that has more to do with the type of meat, not how they cooked it. To start I had a seasonal salad. I'm not usually one to eat salad, but I had to get something to offset all the protein. This was really good! Apples, cranberry, cheese (blue?), nuts, and a mix of buttery and bitter greens. It was pretty epic. If you're vegan or vegetarian, you will not like this place. If you're a carnivore like me, come on over!!!

I've been wanting to check this place out ever since I first heard of it. Being a lover of trying new things, and exotic meats (and Hammerheads), it seemed like the perfect place for me. I remember thinking as a kid, and asking my parents, "out of all the animals, why do we only eat cows, chickens and pigs?" I guess Game is my answer. My and my wife wanted to try some meatball samples first of the most exotic animals, and order a burger based on that. We got Kangaroo, Wild Boar, and Elk. I've been wanting to try Kangaroo for about 10 years after an acquaintance in Australia raved about it, and it didn't disappoint. In fact, it was probably my favorite thing I tried there. It's hard to explain, but it just seems to melt in your mouth while exploding with flavor. I'm not sure how much seasoning they add to the meatballs, but whatever they do to the Kangaroo, it is great. The wild boar tasted closer to a sausage flavor - I thought it would be fatty but it wasn't at all. Elk was the least memorable and tasted the closest to beef, but still good. So, after mulling over the decision of which burger to get, I went with the Wild Boar. I loved the Kangaroo meat, but the ingredients for the Kangaroo burger on the Chef's recommendation seemed a bit boring. I wanted to stick with the pre-built Chef's recommendations because I figure they know which flavors to match up, and it's a bit cheaper overall than building your own. At first I loved it, but after a few bites the cranberry-jalapeno jam started to get a bit overpowering. It wasn't really spicy, but the sweetness of the cranberry was too much. It seemed like my burger was slathered in grape jelly. Now, I can't fault Game for this - it's clearly stated on the menu, and I usually don't like sweet things in a savory meal - but I thought it'd be more toned down and delicate. I will certainly come here again, as there is still so much more to try - including appetizers and desserts. It's fairly expensive though, so I can't come back too often. However, I'll update my review when I do, because I really believe they can get 5 stars out of me.

Hammerheads grownup sister restaurant. A place you can take mom and dad. And I have! People think it is funny that a vegetarian loves a restaurant all about exotic game, but they cater to both meat and vegetarian lovers. Game has two veggie burgers, a grilled corn, poblano, garbanzo bean burger and a grilled mushroom and red lentil burger. My favorite is the grilled mushroom burger. I don't even like mushrooms, but you can't identify them in the burger. It appears that it may have some beet in it too, because the burger is bright pink. It is phenomenal, very messy, but phenomenal. You can go with their recommendations or build your own burger with their extensive list of toppings. No matter what, I always get the craisin-apple slaw. Tangy and sweet, with the perfect amount of crunch. Just like Hammerheads, you can get duck fat fries or truffle oil fries. I've had friends that say they were not so keen on the duck fat fries, but no one can resist the truffle oil fries. I think truffle oil could make anything taste like it came from heaven. I have a hard time sharing them and feel glutinous when I realize I've almost eaten an entire basket... You can't get a burger without one of their awesome beers. They have one of the most extensive craft beer lists I have seen in Louisville. They've got a cherry sour that is now my ultimate favorite beer. I haven't seen it sold anywhere else, except at the Louisville Beer Store. More reason to come to Game! This place is so good, the servers started recognizing my partner and I. That made us realize we had a problem and probably needed to lay off the truffle fries for awhile.

The menu is intriguing with a wide variety of meats! Some of them are a bit dry, but my fav was the kangaroo! I got the elk, duck, wagyu and kangaroo The best thing of the meal was by far the scotch eggs and pork belly (the pork belly slabs were massive!) The duck fat did not really add much to the sweet potato fries though to be honest Overall, great meal and a creative, yet simple concept. If I were to change something, I would add some additional cuts of meats besides burgers and meatballs. I'll be back!

GAME OVER (le fin) we just dont need kitchens in our homes anymore with food this good go here, try not to drool on their wonderful staff and then greedily jam the food into your gluttonous mouths (warning: if feelings of separation anxiety occur after your visit, please consult your local primary practitioner)

Probably closer to a 3.5 review. Drove past this place probably 200 times in the past year and never knew it was there. Finally was reading about it and decided to give it a go with one of my foodie pals and we were pretty pleased with the results. Depending on when you show up, it'll be a crowd, but it's worth the wait. I ordered a duck burger with swiss, caramelized onions, apple chutney and bacon and it was pretty much fantastic. There are more exotic options of course like kangaroo, but I read about them before I showed up to get a sense of whether they would appeal to me or not. (Saves a lot of time when you're trying to decide whether or not to be adventurous and/or hungry after you're doing if you don't end up liking it.) So yeah, Game is a neat spot and they've done a good job with a space that you wouldn't expect to work for what they're doing at all. Obviously not a place to bring your vegan friends, but..if you're in town and have a meat craving, you could do worse.

I am still having flashbacks of this dinner. It was truly one of the best I've had in a while. So my boyfriend and I had been waiting to try Game until his brother was in town, and we finally had the chance to go there over the weekend. The raging omnivores that we are, we first devoured the menu with our eyes. Eleven different types of meatballs, ranging from bison to antelope to wild boar. Bone marrow. Scotch eggs. So many burgers with fix-ins that included smoked truffle mayo, cranberry jalapeño jam and bone marrow aioli. And then three types of fries: duck fat, truffle oil and sweet potato. For not having a very extensive menu, it was so hard to decide what to get and to not order everything! Luckily, our waitress came to our rescue. We knew we wanted to order some of the meatballs -- which are about twice the size of normal meatballs, I might add -- and she allowed us to try those before ordering burgers so that we could get a taste of the different meats first. The three of us shared the wild boar, kangaroo and elk meatballs, which each tasted distinctly different. The wild boar was my favorite, so I ordered that burger, which came with goat cheese, cranberry jalapeño jam, tomato and greens on an everything bun. If I thought the meatballs were big, the wild boar patty was huge. And the jam, my new favorite, perfectly paired with it. I will say that the bun didn't really bring anything new to the burger, but at the same time, it let the burger patty stand out. We also tried the bone marrow -- a first for me. This came with a parmesan crust, which was nice. It overwhelmed the marrow a bit, though. I don't know if this app is served this way because Game is afraid that people won't enjoy marrow for what it is, but if I want to try something new, I really want to try it. But still, the bone marrow was good. I'd get it again. And the fries. Can I have a moment of silence for the duck fat fries? These fries don't look like anything extraordinary, but just wait until you get these in your mouth. Potato heaven! The duck fat brings another layer of deliciousness besides just saltiness. I got the side of fries, as opposed to the full app, and even though we nommed these fries like there would be no tomorrow, the side portion was adequate for three people. And as if all of these good eats were not enough, we shared the large s'more dessert. This came with Nutella, high quality chocolate and marshmallows and house-made graham crackers. All other s'mores should bow down to this sweet, summery, Game-made concoction! Game also has an impressive beer list, and the bartender was knowledgable about the many beers. He offered us a taste of a couple while we were debating what to get. The staff was the epitome of helpful and friendly, in fact. We couldn't have asked for better service. Oh, Game, you now have a fan for life. I can't wait to go back and try everything else on your menu!
(5)Shawn N.
A very eclectic spot (it's Kentucky meets Portland, Oregon)with a very simple, eclectic menu full of all kinds of yummy meats to try as either a meatball or burger. They also have some pretty damn good beers! I had a kangaroo meatball and an elk burger. The meats were cooked to perfection! They know how to compliment the burgers with the right toppings! Salad was delish! Fries were fries, nothing impressive. One cool feature is that the back of the menu has all there items and you can build a burger any way you want! Sa-weeeeeet!

My spouse eats meat. So do all our friends and family members. I have been to Game twice. I'm a vegetarian who eats some fish. But Game is a keeper. It's crowded, often, especially in winter when they can't open up the patio, so expect to wait in line. The beer selection is quite good, and the wines are also good. The people I have eaten with loved the meats. They especially love the meatballs and the sides. I have tried both of the veggie burgers. They are amazing. I usually expect restaurant-made veggie burgers to be okay, but not great. These are genuinely so so delicious. I will go back, especially when we have guests in town.
(4)Julie M.
I have never had kangaroo meat before and wow was it delicious. The wild boar was excellent, as was the elk. i would love to do the "build your own burger" option one time, but knowing me it will end up being a $30 burger, haha.
(5)Andre B.

Winner!
(5)Lauren B.
(4)T. J. M.
This place is amazing! Exotic, delicious meats paired up with some tasty craft beers. With a knowledgeable and friendly bar and wait staff, what's not to love about this place? I frequently hit up Game on the way home from rugby practice. It's become my guilty pleasure!

(5)Johanna L.
(4)Mary L.

(5)Ann L.
(4)Cameron W.
(4)Marjory B.

(5)Hannah E.
Host, Waitress and bar staff were all extremely friendly and professional. Extremely low key relaxed atmosphere and not very big for the amount of people that want to eat here. Not that it's a problem because people will wait for great food, just like their other brother restaurant called "hammerheads". They don't take reservations so first come first serve which I like. I always like to go when I know I'll be hungry and give yourself a 30-45 min buffer window. Never arrive starving!!! Took about 20-25 mins to get food after ordering. Great place to take out of town guests, the game burgers have such a wide verity to choose from.

I am being more and more surprised by the amazing places Louisville has to offer. Game's atmosphere is amazing. It almost feels like you are in a lodge of sorts, but also has a slightly hipster feel. The tables are basically shellacked cuts from logs, and the lighting is mostly dim. The choice of meats is outstanding. I had the wild boar burger with cranberry-jalapeno jam and goat cheese. It was cooked to a perfect medium with a great texture. If I go back I will definitely be trying the kangaroo. You can build as fancy of a burger as you can imagine at Game; if a Wagyu burger with Foie Gras suits you then that's an option, or you could have a plain beef burger, antelope, elk,..just about anything is possible. The side of fries is definitely enough for two! And the brew list was great as well. I would recommend Game to anyone looking for a gourmet burger in Louisville.

Salman Rushdie may be the only person I would trust to write a review that is worthy of the meal that I ate at Game. Starting off, I ordered the bone marrow app. The first time I had ever tried marrow, was in Mario Batali's restaurant at the Palazzo in Vegas, so now I try it every chance I get. Great flavor and presentation, because marrow is not the most aesthetically pleasing. Had the Elk burger as an entree (first time trying Elk that wasn't in jerky form) and it was everything I could have asked for. My only gripe, which stems from my own greediness, was the bone marrow mayo that comes on the burger. It was overly rich for me after eating the entire appetizer myself, but I would like to note, I was still a great burger and only a scrap of bun was left. If you drive by this place while hungry and not a vegetarian, I ask you to not vote in the next election because you obviously cannot be trusted to make smart decisions.

My friend and I just experienced Game last night, and I am still thinking about it. We went in knowing we would order two different burgers and split them, and I am so glad we did because both of our burgers were DELICIOUS! I ordered the kangaroo burger, she ordered the wild boar burger, and we split an order of sweet potato fries. The burgers were very different from each other- the kangaroo meat was lighter than the wild boar, and it came with cheddar cheese and a tomato jam, making it more savory (and the seasoning of the meat was perfect!), while the wild boar burger came with goat cheese and a cranberry jalapeño jam, giving it a little sweet kick. Each of the meat flavors with their respective toppings were paired so well together and neither of us could decide which was our favorite! The sweet potato fries were great, but we were so full we had to get to-go boxes for about half of them. Our waitress was wonderful, she explained the menu and the daily specials, recommended how to have each burger cooked based on how each of us normally order a beef burger, and she was very attentive throughout our evening. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to go back!

I come here every time I am in Louisville. Love this place and owner is super nice. They have a great bar also. Try the Kanagroo or Wild Boar they are fantastic. Don't forget the fries cooked in duck fat. Wow. So good.
(5)Rick M.
If they hadn't over cooked my burger I would probably go with 5 stars. The elk was tasty and would probably be better cooked medium. I asked the server after one bite what temperature they were shooting for. He said medium. When I showed him the burger he said looks like they missed. The side of fries were cooked perfectly. Nice and crispy. Little bit pricey. Burger and fries $15 plus tax. Add a beer or two and you are spending some real money.

3.6/5 Atmosphere/Service - Small, and quaint, but maybe needs some adjusting to the arrangement? I don't know -- just seemed to have bad feng shui or something. In nicer weather with that big patio area that whole tune good easily change. Staff was friendly, and the food came out in decent time. 4/5 - BAR - Many craft brews, and wines, but no hard/distilled alcohol. Perfectly ok with that. 3.8/5 - Menu/Food - Big fan of the menu. Meatballs and burgers of every variety of meat you can imagine (duck, boar, elk, antelope, etc), and scotch eggs to start? That's just unique and cool. I had the wild boar & kangaroo meatballs which were both delicious and served with a jelly/aoli sauce on the side which was a different touch...but good. I also had a seasonal salad which had a nice little dijon dressing that had a serious kick. Bleu cheese, walnuts, apples over a spring mix of greens...good. Here's the painful part...no gluten-free buns. You bring gluten-free buns, and the whole menu changes for me. I'm very curious about their burgers, and I'd love to maybe bring one of my own in, and give them a second try. Overall a very unique experience. I think if you aren't a woodsy person, or haven't tried different meats from travels, I think this place has more of an allure to it, but I realize that most ppl in Louisville are very intrigued by this "mystery meat" concept and it's a bold move. I definitely would recommend it. My personal experience would be around a 3.8/5 but I'll bump it up to a flat 4/5 for others to try it.

From the reviews, This place seems fancier than it is. But don't let that fool you The food is awesome We had the scotch eggs and meatball sampler. We did the sampler instead of one meat burger. Everything is ground meat burgers We had the waygu , wild boar, and kangaroo. Personally I liked the boar

(4)Elise S.

This is such a unique place. Great selection of unconventional meat dishes like Wagyu, elk, and kangaroo. You can try a meatball version of the burger entrees (though they're a little pricey so don't go crazy) and choose what exotic meat you prefer. Highly recommend it!

Best fries.

(4)Evan F.

(5)Mark K.
