We love this place. The service is always fast and friendly and the food is delicious. We love the queso Fundido with chorizo. We get it every time. They also have this amazing seafood soup called Siete Mares. The serving is huge, and it's just spicy enough to make me love it. But for people that like spice more than I do, they serve it with these smoky little dried peppers. I love the way they flavor the soup but the kick is a little to hard for me. This is my favorite place to come during cold or allergy season. :)

I was craving a seafood burrito so bad last week so I did some searching around and saw this place had the Burrito Del Mar (burrito of the sea) and called it in. It was ready when I got there to pick it up and it was still hot when I got back to work. It was just what I was craving. It came with a bunch of rice on the side in a separate container and some chips/salsa. I had so much burrito that I never even touched the sides. It was pricey for lunch, but it did contain a lot of seafood. I approve!

Living in the Highlands, and I get the hankering for Mexican, the choices are truly limited. Over recent years, we've gone to El Nopal. Today, because we had a coupon out of that notorious blue envelope, we decided to give El Tarasco a chance... it's literally right behind El Nopal, which by the way, had very similar coupons in the same envelope! First thing I notice is that Nopal's lot is full, Tarasco, not. Well, everything was great, food, margaritas, liked atmosphere and the wait staff better. We decided that we would go there from now on. Go to pay the bill and the cashier informs us that our coupon is not good on Friday. No, the coupon does not state that anywhere... as a matter of fact we have another one for next month, not stated. We didn't argue, just won't go back. I'm thinking it explains the empty parking lot pretty well.

This location is just less than a five-minute drive from our hotel. My mom and I were weighing the tough decision whether to go to El Nopal or El Tarasco. We chose this, and boy, are we lucky or what? This dining space is very clean, and the service from the waiter is much nicer and friendlier. The price of our food was quite reasonable, and the quality of the food, along with presentation is great because of the lower price of food. I would come back to this restaurant. Nice work, El Tarasco!

A good value. Service is good but the kitchen REALLY SLOW. I've eaten here twice and the food is pretty good but they're really slow. My meal looked like a disaster on the plate but was tasty. Great deal on domestic happy hour drafts. The place is clean and everyone's nice.

I wouldn't even give this place a single star if there was an option. The only thing that's good were the frozen margaritas that come out of a machine. We ordered a few enchiladas that came out swimming in some soupy red "sauce." They weren't cooked right and we were afraid to take more than one bite. The consistency of the enchilada was terrible, as was the service. The waitress was chipping her nail polish off and talking on her cell phone. She was ignoring us. It was a nightmare. Horrible service and food. The drinks were okay. I won't be back.

We live near this location and it is 10x better than El Nopal next door in all aspects. Better prices for higher quality food, nicer and more attentive service, cleaner and you can tell they really want you to come back. We do and will continue to come back!

The Los Yolandas here closely resembled the same dish at their St. Matthew's Location and that was my only hope. So, this is now my go to Mexican whenever I don't want to leave the Highlands/Germantown area just to get an enchilada. Admittedly, it is a very weak field of competitors. The atmosphere here was not all there as yet (this is a former Gatti's). I do hope Tarasco catches on with the campus crowd but on my visit only three tables had guests seated. 3.5 stars if Yelp allowed it but I won't begrudge them the 4.

I think most Mexican restaurants are very similar when it comes to the food, and this one is no exception. It is good, standard mexican food that comes from the same menu 75% of Mexican restaurants have. That's fine with me, that's what I expect when I go to a place like this. What sets mexican restaurants apart to me is the service, environment, specials, things like that. I had a very pleasant experince here. The server was nice and attentive, wasn't stingy with the chips and salsa, and the food came quickly. They have outdoor seating which is really nice, and daily specials that knock about $2 off of the regular menu price. They also have drink specials but I didn't pay attention to when or what they are. Overall, nice, standard mexican place to go when you get a craving for tacos.

I had the Guadalajara chicken dinner. For, the money the food was very good. Coffee was surprisingly good too. The server was nice, with the correct amount of visits and refills.

First time eating here. The free chips and salsa is nothing to write home about. The lunch meals we had were great (quesadilla fajita and the carnitas). Friendly service and FAST! Try it out...I think you'll like it too.

I love Mexican cuisine and I was so excited when El Tarasco came to the neighborhood! I have been to this location twice now and it was great both times. This most recent time I had the pork burrito. It was simple and delicious. It was a large flour tortilla filled with roasted, shredded, and fried pork Nd topped with white nacho cheese sauce and a spicy tomatillo salsa. The pork was so flavorful and tender I couldn't stop eating it. The meal also came with rice and refried beans which were both tasty also. I also thought that the prices were great. Our bill for two adults and one kids meal was around $30 with drinks and all. Not bad. They also have great margarita specials and those are quite tasty too! The restaurant was very clean on both visits and the servers we had were friendly and efficient! This is an excellent addition to the neighborhood and it will be a regular spot for us!

Just about everything that could go wrong, went wrong. There definitely seemed to be a language barrier with the waitress. I was served the wrong drink, the wrong entrée, and even though we asked to have more salsa it never appeared. It wasn't very good salsa anyway, so no big loss there. It must be noted that there was only one other table occupied so it was not busy. When I realized I had the wrong drink I made eye contact with our waitress and waved as she was sitting in a booth having a private conversation with someone. It took her about 10 minutes to come back to our table. It took two or three tries to explain to her about my drink. The quality of the food we were served was below all expectation. By that time, though, I just wanted to get out of there. As I was paying my bill and asked if everything had been okay, I said no, I got the wrong entre. I was told that was what was on my ticket. I said yes but that's not what I ordered. Then that whole exchange was repeated again. I felt like I was in a Monty Python movie! So I paid and we left laughing but very unsatisfied with our experience. Should I even say this - I will never return.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
