REALLY good pizza!!!! Homemade cheese, fresh ingredients, great service! The atmosphere has a good vibe in a historic building. There are many choices for pizza toppings and flavor profiles. They are also happy to customize whatever you like. Behind the bar is a wall of liquor, about half of it is just bourbon...love it!!! They do have karaoke at night but it's also family friendly for the majority of their business hours. Arrive hungry. The portions are huge but our leftovers warmed up nicely in the oven. I'm looking forward to many return visits.

Did you know they make their own cheese? This pizza rocks! We ordered delivery and got a large pizza and it was huge, like15 inches , it was thin crust and the crust actually tasted good! Not like other pizza joints around here. I can't believe it took us so long to try this. Try it today. Don't waste another day!

I am a pizza fanatic and had been looking forward to trying DiOrio's for quite some time. The pizza did not disappoint! We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza, and it was one of the best I've ever had! Hubby often says he's "pizza'd out," and even he loved it! We ordered a 10 inch buffalo chicken, which ordinarily would have been enough but we were starving and had just come from standing up for 4 hours at a show at Headliners (J Roddy Walston and the Business- they're awesome, check them out). Oh, and it was about 12:30 in the morning and you're always 10x hungrier late at night, right? Right. We ate that thing in about 5 minutes flat, and it was amazing. The cheese was so stretchy and the spicy ranch base with the buffalo chicken was the stuff I dream about. The crust was an original style crust, which I always prefer opposed to thin crust, and it was delicious! We definitely should have ordered the next size up for how hungry we were and how delicious it was! The service was good, my only complaint would be that she came up and asked if we were ready for the check as I was in the middle of my last slice of pizza. That just always makes me feel rushed to finish eating, but that might just be me! I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu! Anyone wanna go in on the Massive Gibbon Challenge with me?? (30" of loaded up pizza vs 4 people)

I ordered D's balls for an appetizer and they were delicious. They also have some of the best wings I've tried in Louisville, I'll definitely be going back!

Food was ok, pizza was a bit oily/greasy. Wings where good but a little small, sauce was really good!good beer selection, a beer for all tastes.

With so many pizza options in Louisville- it's difficult to say which one is best. Well, Diorio's is right up there with the best of the best. The crust is a perfect hand-tossed- not greasy at all. The ingredients are all fresh and delicious. You can order custom by the slice or a huge 30" pizza for a large group. The hot wings are also amazing. Crisp on the outside and the hot sauce is no joke.

When I walked in, I immediately thought that the atmosphere, seating and bar areas were really nice and "comfortable." I sit at the bar and ordered pizza by the slice. I should have read the reviews more closely - these things were humongous. One slice would have been sufficient. And it really wasn't that the slices were so large, it's that they were dense, too. Understand - if need be, I can put away some food. My wife says that I eat like an animal. (Thanks?) However, I could only eat one slice for lunch. Just one. That's it. Because I got two slices, the price came to over $20 with a tip. I was going to say that this place is, therefore, expensive. But it was only expensive because I'm a fool. One slice of a special type of pizza is only like $8.50. Alright, so I got the Gibbon and the Aaron. The Gibbon was nothing special - just a supreme style slice of pizza. The toppings were huge and densely packed. I suppose I'd get it again, but it was a bit too heavy. The Aaron was unbelievably good. Apparently, this is a DiOrio's Special. Man alive, it was fantastic. It has a pesto base, sausage, peppers, olive oil, and other heavenly goodness. I was amazed at how well it tasted. I never would have guessed. If I go back, I'll be getting this slice. The best thing about the pizza was the crust. I don't think I've ever said that about a pizza before, so I tip my hat to DiOrio's on that. Also, they have an eating challenge. Four people must eat a 30 inch Gibbon in 40 minutes or less. Ridiculous task. And yet, while I was there, four guys tried it. They failed miserably. But it was fun to see. Good things: The crust, The Aaron, The Atmosphere. Average Things: The Gibbon. Not-so-Good Things: It's very heavy. I don't know how often I could eat here. It's very good, but it is very heavy. I feel like I've gained 15 pounds. With all of that said, I did really enjoy it. Questo posto è stato assolutamente fantastico, e io sarò sicuramente.

Woweee! This place is definitely my new favorite pizza joint in Louisville! We walked in and the atmosphere was very chill. We had two different servers (one of them had ended her shift) and both of them were super funny and I wish that I could remember their names so that I could recommend them! All of the servers made conversation with us (they were slow) and were very friendly. The food was also great. We got two appetizers- Dj's fried balls and the cheese balls. Both were hot, fresh, and served with marinara sauce. For drinks, my boyfriend got The Brown Note (a hilariously named awesome locally brewed brown ale from Against the Grain) and I got a Jameson and sprite. We also had some hard root beer at the recommendation of our server and it was AMAZING! I'm still looking for places where I can buy it so I can take a 6 pack home. For pizza, we asked our server and she recommended the veggie pizza. Since we both love veggies and were on the fence about it anyway, we went for it and we were not disappointed. It was a beautiful pizza and since we added their own handcrafted cheese (for a small extra fee), it had that extra kick. I don't typically eat mushrooms...but they fit in perfectly on this pie. We finished the whole thing! We will definitely visit again :)

My husband and I decided to order delivery from Diorio's since he's ordered from them before and loved it. We ordered a Calzone and a Hoagie.....two and a half hours later it arrives. I'm still giving two stars because it is Labor Day. A while after it was supposed to be delivered my husband called to check up on the order. He was told they had problems with the site used for ordering, but the order would be leaving the store in about five minutes. (We live about three miles from the location.) An hour later I called back and asked what was going on, and I was told the driver was out with the order. Perhaps 15 to 20 minutes later he arrived. None of the employees we spoke to were rude by any means, but I feel that two and a half hours is a little ridiculous even for a holiday. The food was warm but not hot, although it did taste okay.

First time having pizza from here (delivery) and it was average. I had the 15" white pizza and it had so much garlic on it that the bottom half of each slice was literally stuck to the pizza box. The garlic taste was a little too overpowering for my taste buds. I recommend that if you order this request very lite garlic (if any) be used. The delight balls were pretty good. Definitely the highlight of the order. I guess this means my quest for that "right" slice of pizza continues..

Wanted to try Diorio's one late night after a few drinks. So I approached the bar and ordered a piece of pizza and small breadsticks. I waited and waited and after about 30 minutes, I asked the waitress if my order was close to being ready and she went to go check. She returned only to tell me the bartender (who was a bit weird) had forgotten to put my order in. So I kindly went to the bartender to ask for my $9-10 back that I had already given him and he said he would put it back on my card.... But never did. I also called the restaurant a week after and left a message and they never called me back. I know it may not be a lot of money, but it is the principle. And needless to say I was very disappointed in my visit. I hope your visit is better, because it smelled delicious.

I really like the crust on the pizza here, big slices and good topping. Nice to sit outside too when it's a nice day.

Ate at this location for lunch and was very happy with the food! We ordered the mozzarella cheese sticks which were nice & hot, good flavor. Ordered the pepperoni pizza. Great homemade, thin crust. Great sauce, & fresh mozzarella cheese. Large menu that offers a variety of delicious items. Hoagies, calzones, pasta, speciality pizzas, salads, great appetizers, pizza by the slice, and a couple of desert options. Also, a lunch menu available mon-fri, from 11-2p. This location is large, comfortable seating, dining outdoors, and with advance notice....can book a room for small gatherings/parties. Also provides catering for special events (ask for the catering menu). Very recommended pizza. I will be going back to try more of the menu items!

We've came here a few times now and the pizza is pretty good. I prefer the single reheated slices because the crust is a bit crispier. Now let's move on to the drinks. Only order beer if you come here. The bartenders aren't worth a damn. I ordered the rye manhattan served "up". First, the waitress had no idea what "up" meant. Second, the drink was served to me on the rocks. I told her I wanted it served "up" and she took it back to the bartender. When I got my drink back, the glass had not been chilled prior to pouring and he basically just strained the ice from my rocks glass into the martini glass. I drink a manhattan atleast once a week and this is the first time I've ever seen it have a yellowish color and served with a lemon zest garnish in the drink. It was absolutely terrible. Note to the bartenders, they should have a redish hue and served with a maraschino cherry (preferably a fresh dark soaked one). Next time, I'll stick to beer because they can't screw that up. I should also mention we came here on Oaks day, which is the busiest season for the service industry in Louisville. If you are going to put your best foot forward and not make yourself look foolish to the thousands of visitors, please hire a proper bar staff. The dessert on the other hand is pretty solid. We have ordered both the deep fried Oreos and the cinnamon sugar dough balls and each are delicious. You get way more dough balls for the price so it's a good deal.

The pizza is great and the service used to be top notch. Recently new bartenders and servers have made it difficult to get service during even the slowest hours. Hard to get an order in even when you are one of two or three tables. Managed to finally get an order placed on my last visit and the check was dropped with the food. Hope this changes, nice to support local businesses.

Woooh. This review is from a first time customer , and it was a delivery. Have to say first off , it is 9:06 AM i am so god damn full. I murdered that pizza. A man by the name of Andy assisted me in my order, i purchased wings , and fried banana peppers. The wings were amazing , compared to more restaurants that serve wings. Overall , was very satisfied and will definitely be getting the 30 in next weekend.

The crusty was nice and crusty. The veggies appeared fresh and were abundant, the sausage was a little bland, the pepperoni was pepperoni-y. The biggest issue was the sauce. There was a distinct lack of flavor in the sauce and it was way too thin. That lovely, crusty crust was rendered soggy by the sauce. Soggy crust makes me sad.

There are lots of good places for pizza in Louisville, but this is one of my favorites. Big slices, lots of toppings. Favorite things I've had were the BBQ chicken pizza and a custom pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. Very filling and always delicious.

It was a really good experience! Our waitress (Deidra) was very nice and sweet! She gave us her full attention and really did an outstanding job! The pizza was also really good and the sauce they have for their bread sticks is AMAZING! This place is a little more expensive than Clifton's pizza but I think the price is worth it seeing as how their pizza is just amazing! But be warned, I have walked by this place before and was astonished at how long the line was to get in after a certain time of day. If you want to get here when it's not crowded then try coming before 6 or 7. Otherwise you might get stampeded by the tons of people that want to get into this place. Luckily I got here at 3 and had the place all to myself. It was very nice and peaceful. I will be sure to come back here one day!

Once upon a time, in a land called The Original Highlands, there was a place called Atmosphere. But it was too loud and didn't make enough money off of food, so it closed. Then there was a place called Neo's, but no one really liked it, so it closed as well. Then came Tequila Factory, and it's food gave many intestinal distress, and they didn't pay rent, and thus it closed. Between these times, and well before them, there existed several short-lived rulers of the kingdom of 919 Baxter Avenue. But, it was not until the year 2013 CE that the land saw a glimmering hope of peace and gastronomical tranquility...the time of DiOrio's Pizza & Pub. Now I don't think anyone will argue that Louisville is not running short on pizza places these days, and the Highland area is definitely pan-deep in pizza joints...some local, some chains. Which is why I was surprised to see another one pop up in the longtime-closed Tequila Factory spot. But, stranger things have happened (I mean "Gladiator" some how won Best Motion Picture, right?). Though my heart was set on a good (for real) German restaurant moving in, I am content with DiOrio's taking over. Their food is pretty damn scrumdiddliumptious. The pizza, not too similar to their closest neighbor (which is also an excellent pizzeria, but of a different nature), is purely excellent and much better than their next closest neighbor, who I will just refer to as "Spingreasy's" in order not to name names. I have explored the menu quite a bit. Shark's wings are good no matter how you like them. Tom's Toasted Ravioli makes for an excellent appetizer as well. Carol's Cheese Bread is perfect for when boring, old bread sticks just won't do. D's Fried Balls, while sounding rather painful or cannibalistic, are every bit of all right. For the rabbits in your party, the spinach salad is a good bowl of roughage with a tasty dressing. As for pizza's...your on your own. Just pick one that sounds good and go for it. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I have every time. Or, you can go for the pizza-turned-in-on-itself and get a calzones. I've even had a couple hoagies there that were quite yummy, as well. I'm particularly fond of the Jack Carlon and the Chummy D's. Did I say they have beer and a full bar? Because that might be important to note. But, don't take my word for it. Drop in, take some friends, have a beer or ten, then try their "Massive Gibbon Challenge"...just have an ambulance, or at least a fork lift, on standby.

After a late night tattoo session, I was absolutely starving and ready for pizza and a beer. The vibe of this place is awesome. A welcoming bar, unique layout, tall ceilings, and great staff. My beer was good (something German...I don't know the name) but their pizza just lacked a certain level of unique to make it stand out to me. Honestly, I blame the dough. I had a split 15" chicken bacon bleu and piggy-something-rather (I.e. Most of a pig) I alone ate 75% of that, and brought the remainder home -- can't ever go wrong with leftovers. I'd go back though. Maybe their sandwiches will impress?

As close to a slice of NYC pizza as you can get in Louisville. Quick tip: try a slice (they are quite large) with extra cheese.

This is my favorite of the two locations. We had a wonderful waitress that was very attentive and friendly. Their pizza is good, but has a very thin crust. I prefer a little thicker, doughy crust. Everything tasted good and fresh though. We wanted a slice and a half because they slices are so big, and the waitress happily split a slice in two and split the bill that way too!

What a pleasant surprise! We stopped into Dioro's the day after a big snowstorm. It was one of the only places open in the area. My girlfriend and I ordered some fried dough balls and a couple of Calzones. We were seriously impressed. The Calzones were HUGE, and very tasty. Great value, great food, good atmosphere. A solid pizza joint!

Craving some heavy cheesy food i gave Diorio's a shot.. Went on a tuesday night when they happened to have live hosted trivia goin' down. My girlfriend and i decided to sign up before we ordered for the heck of it, not expecting to win playing against 8 other teams. Down to the food... I ordered the Chummy D's Hoagie; "Signature item. philly cheese this is red hoog's original philly cheesesteak made the original way with delicious rib eye steak, green pepper, onion & cheese whiz" It absolutely hit the spot along with a West 6 IPA. While we enjoyed our food we took turns turning in our answers for general knowledge questions that sometimes seemed impossible to be considered "general knowledge' But incredibly we some how turned out in first place right at the end our meal wining a $50 gift certificate! Ill be back next week to play again and try one of those calzones i was eyeing.

I heard wonderful things about Diorio's from fellow Yelpers so when I got a craving for pizza I decided to give them a shot. Worst pizza I've ever had. I am not someone who complains or sends back food, but this pizza was so disgusting we told our server we didn't want to pay for it. The sauce was so watered down, it looked like red water. There was nothing tomato or saucey about it, just watery red stuff. The crust wasn't cooked. We ordered a veggie pizza and when we scraped the veggies off the crust was still gooey underneath. It was easy to scrape the veggies off because there was little to no cheese on the pie. I would have been more understanding if the place had been packed, but we were one of 4 tables in the large dining room. There was no reason for it to be so bad! I did enjoy the fried dough balls, but they weren't amazing. I won't be going back!

I live very close so I've ordered carry out quite a few times. Four of those times I've arrived to pick it up to find that they haven't even started making it yet. I think I'm finally giving up on this place.

I have found my new favorite pizza spot in Louisville! First let me say I LOVE PIZZA... every kind, every place, every style. I have never met a slice of pizza that I didn't like. However, after visiting Diorio's - I could quit all other pizza places cold turkey. I can't pinpoint one thing about this place that makes it awesome but I can highlight some of my favorite things. The staff are friendly and eccentric - they always keep me laughing. The patio is spacious and allows you to experience the bustle going on on Bardstown Rd. The atmosphere is low-key but let's you know you are in for a good time if you want it with a great beer selection. It's great for groups or for a party of 2 and the decor inside is awesome. I love the book stack and ladder in the back. Now the pizza...the pizza...is awesome. The cheese is melty, the toppings taste fresh, and there are a variety of options. I would also recommend DJ's Fried Balls - a momentary oasis of deep fried dough sprinkled with cheese and seasonings. Try is on your next girls night or after-work drink!

I don't normally write bad reviews.. But this needed to be said. My friends and I went to around 3 pm. We were greeted in both a friendly and timely fashion. After receiving drinks our server got in a personal phone call and stayed there for anther 15 minutes. At time yelling into the phone. It was obvious by the way she carried on that it was a personal phone call and not for the restaurant. So after that 15 minutes she gets off the phone to only inform us she's sorry she was held up on the phone her daughter this and that. I've been in several different career paths one being a server.. It's never okay to vent or let your customers see that kind of stuff much less let it come before actually servicing them. As for the food.. It wasn't what Id hoped it would be because the atmosphere is pretty awesome so I just had the bar set pretty high. With that said.. I wonder if my food had tasted better had I not say there 20 or more watching her "take care of personal buisness." Furthermore I think it might've been the manager that came out to the FOH because all of a sudden (oh yeah I forgot she got back on the phone after we received out food.) when the lady (again presumably the manager) she hung that phone and came to us to ask for If we needed anything. Don't me get me wrong.. I know we're all human.. With no control of when things happen sometime... But a customer should never have to witness it much less WAIT for your drama to finish up so we can order. With two small kids mind you. Horrible first impression.

Not too bad for pizza. Still like Coal's the best in Louisville. Try the "Sandra's cheddar shots". Cheddar and jack cheese fried. Yum. Went for lunch and they only had one waitress. She was running around like a mad woman but had a smile and great personality. Felt bad for her so fully understood it was going to take a while to get things. If you are on bardstown rd and want a cool place to grab a slice give it a try.

Not great. If you like NY style pizza don't come here. Crust is just ok - so much topping you really can't enjoy a good pizza. Add that it was cold and the 2 stars are probably generous.
