Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

The service is horrible. We came in after a sporting event and other customers that came in after us received their food and drinks well before us. What should of taken 20 or so minutes to get ended up being an hour. Once we did get most of our food, they forget one of the orders. The food was good, once we finally got it, but not good enough to suffer through the poor service. The pizza was one of the biggest I have ever seen.

Not really. 3 stars, but 2 1/2 or 2 for the pizza. The pizza was sooooo soggy that we had to eat it with a knife and fork . . . and then the toppings wouldn't stay on the dough! The toppings did taste fresh, but the sogginess dictates the stars. We also ordered a couple of sandwhiches. I was really excited to try the philly cheese steak bc it was offered with the traditional cheese wiz option . . . but they forgot the cheese wiz on my take-out order! Grrrrr. . . . I don't think we will be ordering again from this place.

We loved our appetizer, everything was good until the bartender blew her nose and we watched her walk over to the kitchen window and grab our pizza. When we said something she argued with us; then went on to say that even if she didn't wash her hands she only touched the plate, not the pizza. They offered to remake it for us, but by that point we had zero appetite. I'm sure this place has great food, the problem isn't the kitchen-- it's the rude and disgusting front of the house!

Phenomenal. The Pizza was awesome and the service was exceptional. We walked in at 9:30 at night and they seated us superfast. Food was out in 15 minutes. Will come again definitely. Paul from Mount Washington

The first time I went here, it was not intentional. My girlfriend and I had ventured to SImply Thai but the wait was really long and we were both very hungry. So we opted to try out Diorio's across the street. I am SO glad that we did! The vibe is very sports bar/casual and makes you feel very comfortable. As long as their isnt a big sporting even going on, the wait is usually very minimal and they get you seated quickly. There are lots of tv's for your entertainment. One thing to note when ordering your pizza's here......they are a LOT larger than your normal pizza place.. a 20 inch pizza will easliy feed 3 people. When we went we were going to get a "large" like we would normally get but the waitress persuaded us to downsize and I am glad she did because we would have had leftovers for days otherwise! They have a lot of speciality pizza's and then you can of course create your own if you wish as well. I'm a pretty "boring" pizza eater and usually just opt for the old pepperoni stand by, but I will say that they make that "simple" pizza extroadinarily well! This was also one of the first places that I had noticed to carry Falls City beer when it had first arrived back in Louisville, so I give them props for that local choice! The only negative I have...is the price. They are a tad pricier than your average pizza parlor. So if you're looking for something cheap, then you might want to head to pizza hut or little ceasers and save this one for some other time.

My favorite has to be the chicken strips. The price is very reasonable and the food fills you up quickly. Ask the waiter to season your fries. Another favorite of mine is the deep fried Oreo. But who doesn't like their Oreo deep fried?! Haha The pizza slices is not always the same. At times it's very good portion and times it's okay. Very busy on game nights so plan accordingly.

Not my favorite pizza in town. Would I consume a few slices of DiOrio's pizza if I happened to be here with friends? Yes. Would I chose to come here for pizza? Definitely not. We came here for family dinner night, so there were roughly ten of us dining. We had Sandra's Cheddar Shots and Crazy Carol's Cheese Bread as appetizers. The cheese bites were overcooked and didn't have much flavor other than burnt breading. The cheese bread was pretty good, although a little greasy. We ordered three pizzas for our main meal: Little Vic's Spicy Pepperoni Pesto Pizza, Annie's Buffalo Chicken Pizza, and a pepperoni and sausage pizza. All were extremely greasy. I'm not normally one to complain about greasy food. As my dad says, a little grease makes it taste good. But these pizzas were so oily that puddles were left on the pan, and the pizza didn't have much flavor other than grease. I was also disappointed in the Pesto Pepperoni pizza because there was hardly any pesto sauce on it. The pesto is used in place of traditional red sauce on this particular pizza, so this meant there was hardly any sauce under the cheese. On top of the sub-par pizza, the service was pretty bad. It was slow, but we can handle slow. It was our server's inattentiveness that was hard to handle. He was so oblivious to what was going on that it was comical. Four of us sat there without drinks for at least fifteen minutes before he noticed us. Every time we tried to get his attention, he kept walking. Even when he walked right by our table and I said, "Sir? Excuse me, sir?", he kept going. Everyone at the table had to ask when they wanted refills, which was a task because even when he was passing by our table while someone had their hand raised, he continued walking as if he didn't see us. Not sure if he was ignoring us, but it seemed like he genuinely just wasn't paying attention. We paid and boxed up our leftovers. The most telling sign of how bad the food was: no one wanted to take the leftovers! We had about seven pieces of leftover pizza, and no one would take claim to them. Three young, 20-something couples wouldn't take a bunch of free pizza home. My parents didn't want them either. My sister's boyfriend finally decided he would take the leftovers to his parents. Hilarious.

A bartender at another bar also works here. He told me about this place. Best slice of pizza in town. The slice is the size of your head. The Philly cheesesteak is by far, the best in town. Very cheap drink specials. $3 pint Sam Adams and $6.75 Basil Haden. However, fix the bathroom up. Looks like a bathroom you would use in prison.

My boyfriend and I wanted to have a quiet dinner on a Sunday night, so we made our way to Simply Thai. Unfortunately, it was closed. He didn't want to go to Nam Nam Cafe, so we settled for Diorio's. Let me tell you; this is not the place to have a quiet date night. This is a great place to bro out with beer and pizza over sports. I was expecting to see plenty of men here, but there was a good mix in the crowd. There were a few couples and families with young children running amuck. Of course, there were plenty of men, young and old, bro-ing out over college basketball and football. My boyfriend and I sat in a booth close to the bar. We ordered the bbq chicken pizza, which I think is called Sweet Caroline's bbq pizza. It was amazing! The bbq sauce was sweet and smoky. We had the 20", which is huge and definitely not suited for two people. But I eat a lot, so I thought we could handle it. My boyfriend had two slices and I had three. I took the remaining three slices home and it served as breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day. They were just as good when I reheated them. Service was a little slow, but they were quite busy. Our server was really nice and came back to check on us a few times. Another note to mention: don't park in the convenient store's designated parking spots. The owner is very serious about towing people. The owner called Diorio's and told them that he believed one of their customers parked in his spot and if that customer didn't move the car, then he'd call a tow truck. It happened to be my boyfriend's car (haha), so he had to move his car.

This is the first pizza I've had from Diorio's, and what a pleasant surprise it was. This is the best pizza in Louisville. What a great tasting pizza. You've got a customer for life as long as the pizza is as good as the one I received tonight. Thanks!!!

Hit this place up for lunch with the kids as we wanted to try a place we had not eaten at yet. Nice little spot and the interior looks better than the exterior. Lots of room, TVs, bar, high tops, booths, etc. The wife and I split a pizza and the kids got some meatballs and a ham & cheese sandwich with fries. The appetizer came out and was about in line with what we expected. Wasn't something where fireworks shot off in the background or anything but it wasn't bad either. For some reason, it took forever to get our food. I almost started looking into colleges for my 7 year old. It was almost at the point where we would be getting pretty upset. Not sure what the problem was. There were only 2 other tables when we walked in and one was already eating. The food came out and was on point though. The pizza was great (We split a Hawaiian and a buffalo chicken). I don't normally like Hawaiian but they did a great job with it. The girls loved their food as well. Overall I thought it was good food. Not some place that made me want to burst the front door, run into the parking lot screaming their praises mind you. It is a place I will gladly return to. But if we are around that area for lunch or dinner anytime soon we plan on checking out some other places first.

Ordered a 15" pesto pepperoni pizza. All three of us sharing agreed not only was it overpriced ($23) but not worth half that. It was so greasy I couldn't finish a second piece, and all hopes of pesto or pepperoni flavor were drowned by excessive cheese. Won't get pizza here again.

The sweet BBQ chicken pizza is my favorite & the cheddar shots app is good & cheesy. They've got some good drink choices as well.
(5)Zachary H.
Some of the best pizza I've ever had. I stick to something simple like pepperoni or sausage and don't cram it with tons of toppings or any specialty pizzas. It's a bit greasy but not overly so. The wings are also great. Perfectly cooked with a nice buffalo flavor.

Had given them 5 stars but had to take two away. On my third visit I had called in a carry out order. The lady said it would be 10 to 15 minutes (I thought that was unrealistic) so when I got there it turned into more like 25 minutes and it took a few minutes for anyone to ask why I was there. they have no real place to sit and wait so it is cramped and awkward to do the carry out.

As far as pizza places in Louisville go, I'd say the pizza at Diorio's is probably in the top 5. One or two slices is plenty to make you full and the prices are very reasonable. Lots of TV's make it a good place to watch a game. Outside of the pizza, their other menu items aren't that great. Everything is a little on the salty side. But I only go there for pizza these days.

This joint was packed for conference tourney play in March 14, 2014. I joined a loosely affiliated group of Cards fans at a table and we soon had an order in for BBQ pizza (all the pies here are New York style) that was well presented. The sauce was too sweet for my specific tastes but everyone at the table seemed to enjoy it. Diorio's is small and sight lines for TVs are relatively low (so no sore necks for us old folks).

This is a good addition to the Vogue area of St Matthews. While Boom Bozz and Bearno's are well-known names for great pizza in Louisville, DiOrio's is another place that hit the spot for me when I visited recently. Maybe it was just the amazing pesto and pepperoni pizza I decided on, or maybe it was the great company I was in, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time at DiOrio's. Not too crowded, not too loud, and a thickness of pizza crust that hit the spot and was thin without being crackly. I'd go back again, and if you get a hankering for pizza before you head to Gerstle's for an evening, see if DiOrio's can hit the spot for you too!

I like the one in the Highlands.

Got a veggie and pepperoni pizza to go and they were both wonderful. I love the crust! It was diffidently expensive for two pizza and garlic butter....I think around $60.00, but it was yummy and we had plenty of leftovers for the next day.

Came in for a late lunch on a weekday. We tried their Signature D's Fried Balls (deep fried dough balls brushed with butter, topped with parmesan & romano cheese & sprinkled with our in house seasonings) and their Pizza Margherita. We got the half order of the fried balls, good thing too because it was a pretty hefty basket of dough. It was served with a side of marinara sauce. It was pretty good while it was hot. I think the butter was over the top and would've loved to have it on the side versus the dough swimming in it. We were excited by the Pizza Margherita because it looked really good and it was thin crust. But, despite the pizza dough being super thin, it was undercooked and once you lifted a slice, all the cheese just pooled off back onto the dish. The crust was cooked perfectly so I wasn't sure why the rest of the pizza wasn't as crisp. For one 10" (undercooked) pizza, one beer and an appetizer ringing up to $26, I think for the price and quality of the food, the chances of me returning are slim to none.

So, I went with two friends to the newest Diorios' at Baxter avenue location. They recently got a really neat classic sign outside of their location (a guy with a mustache holding a pizza). I run by this area a lot so I was excited to see they were making it noticeable, and another place to have pizza at. We sat outside, and the service was on the ball, and waters were regularly updated and check on. The waitress was good in that she didn't rush us to leave, but check in sometimes. I got the small marharita, granted I was pretty hungry and hadn't had much for dinner. I defineatly devoured the pizza though. It was on the thinner crust side, and had fresh basil (i believe) and really great cheese. I was a fan. My friends likewise at almost all of their small pizzas.

Visited today for first time. Place has a cool vibe to it. I tried a philly sandwich off the lunch menu and side salad and drink. Philly was good and only complaint was I wanted more. The side salad was actually a true salad with lots of ingredients. My buddy had a cal-zone which looked amazing. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I found this little gem by complete accident. The cards were on TV and this place was packed! Our service was extremely prompt. We ordered a barbecue chicken pizza with jalapeños, it was just awesome and the beer was ice cold! I recommend this little parlor to anyone who is looking with a change up from the normal chain pizza choices.
(4)Beth R.
Had a hot turkey and bacon sandwich. I couldn't put it down. So yummy! The fries were crispy and the food came out to us fast.
(5)Eric H.
This food is horrible. The pizza has thin, tasteless crust with foul toppings. Calzones are stuffed with cheese/flavored rubber. Worst of all, the prices aren't even reasonable. Go elsewhere.
(1)Melissa P.
Friendly & fast staff. Order the pizza by the slice for a perfectly thin crust, just right amount of sauce & toppings....tastes as fresh and authentic as pizza I had in Italy. Great service every time we have been, which averages to twice a month. Good rotating beer taps for those who prefer something other than domestic. BEST PIZZA IN LOUISVILLE! Don't go here if you want some hum drum run of the mill "chain style" pizza. You won't appreciate it's quality.
(5)Hank K.
Great pizza and locally owned and they are open late which is plus.
(4)Shal V.
I was at getting an oil change done nearby when I thought I'd get carryout from Di Orio's. The girl at the bar who takes To-Go orders was friendly and gave me recommendations. I decided to order the Spicy Vic's Pepperoni Pesto Pizza - truly delicious pizza albeit a bit greasy. The crust was thin and crispy and the flavor was great!! I'll definitely go back to Di Orio's.
(4)Adam C.
Best new pizza place in town. We have a lot of options for pizza and this one definitely stands out. A good pizza starts with the crust and they have an excellent crust. I would like to see some different apps given that the pizza is so good a few unique apps would give me more reasons to go back. How about adding meatballs as an app? I was so excited to order D's Fried Balls thinking it was fried meatballs, but it was fried dough instead. They were good but would rather have meatballs and I was intrigued by possibly frying them. This place will be around a long time and is unofficially the new place to watch the Packers. Oh and you have to the D'Oreos to satisfy the sweet tooth.
(5)Matt G.
Fun atmosphere. Great pizza. Slices made to order at a great price. Great little bar too.
(5)Chris M.
Huge slices, good quality, nice pies!

Yum! The Diorio family is really friendly, and the food is delish! Totally coming back.
