I really enjoy Chubby Ray's pizza. Crust is good with nice chew sauce is zesty and tastes quite good. They use very high quality ingredients and it adds a lot to the overall quality and flavor. Tried the breadsticks last night for the first time from the free yelp offer and they were delicious. Chewy buttery soft pillows of goodness. I really can't speak to many of the other entrees because why would I get anything other than pizza but at this point I've had about 6 different pies and the regular cheese all really good. The atmosphere is exactly what you should get at a great community pizza establishment. Lots of TVs, pitchers of beer, and those large plastic Pepsi cups. The service is somewhat frustrating at times. Most of the time they do a pretty good job of getting you taken care of but at times people disappear. Overall a pretty great pizza place tucked into the heart of J-town.

Had a great time at Chubby Ray's for watching NFL Sunday football. Pizza was great, very friendly service. NFL Sunday Ticket is definitely a plus!

We've been going to LPC for over 15 years; from when they were located in Hikes Point. We've always had good food and service, however the past 3 times we've been, everything has gone down hill. The service has been TERRIBLE; servers forget things, aren't friendly, aren't efficient, etc. The food had been mediocre at best. We went twice in the past week and our pizza was over-cooked and the lettuce on my BLT was the salad lettuce, so it was chopped and very difficult to eat. The bacon was also extremely over-done. The outside patio is awesome, however beware of lots of cigarette and cigar smoke. Not sure we'll be going back anytime soon.

If I could give a 3 1/2 stars I would. I had no problem with the food. It was actually quite good the pizza was excellent. And the atmosphere was great. But the service was pitiful. The girl was nice but. Failed to come to our table several times. We had to go and ask for extra stuff we needed at one point. It's a great place of you have patience b

So, I went there a year or so ago and there was this guy bartender who made my party and myself feel like we were the only ones there. All the while he was handling all kinds of business all over the rest of the restaurant like some sort of super manager. Answering phones, tending to the rest of the customers, and helping the kitchen. The experience was top notch. Then the general manager came out, such a dork named jeff, came out and started hanging out with us. He was not as cool as the guy bartender but we saw that he was working as hard or harder than anybody else, even our bartender, so we gave him a break for being so lame. Eventually our bartender had turnover and had to leave which disappointed my entire party. However, two kick butt bartenders took his place. Desi and patti. All the while another manger Linda was handling all kinds of business in the kitchen, like some sort of pro. So we hung out with desi, patti, and linda most of the night. Service was incredible. The food was so good we asked to see the chef. It was this weirdo named sean who was more awkward than the general manager jeff. But you could see in his eyes how invested he was in his work and the end result proved it. We came back recently as we live out of state and only visit here for family get togethers. Unfortunately, the guy bartender, who was pretty much the best bartender I ever came across, was gone. However, these chicks desi patti and linda are pretty darn good. More than pretty darn good... great. Pizza is the business. Salad dressing is home made. Tv's everywhere. Best patio In kentucky. Just wish that bartender was still there. Also wish the general manager and kitchen manger werent so super akward

My wife and I along with two small kids decided to Try "Chubby Rays" Pizza. Having moved to "The Highlands" Louisville in Fall 2014, we have been very disappointed in the restaurants we have tried (see my reviews): not enough sauce, too much uncovered dough with no topping, small portions of cheese. Flavorless sauce and cracker crust. However, on a whim we decided to try Chubby Rays today since Pizza looked appetizing in commercials. We ordered extra large with mushroom and spinach, spaghetti n sauce and grilled cheese and fries for kids. This was by far the BEST Pizza we have eaten. The crust was not too thick nor too thin; the sauce was plentiful once you bite in the Mozzarella cheese (excellent quality) which was all hot and perfect. Now this is Pizza! It's not any more expensive than Mello Mushroom, Bearnos or Wicks and the atmosphere is much more enjoyable! We had their fried pickle slices which made my wife's beer, 25 oz draft, perfect size. The kids really enjoyed the TV at our booth that made our meal relaxing and able to have a wonderful experience. We left knowing it is worth the short drive to J-town for the Pizza and atmosphere. service was exceptional and never had to ask for refill of more ice water or soda since our server was always on top of it. We wished they delivered to the Highlands.

Huge place but funny, not many people there. Maybe it is because the pizza was just...OK. The dough was a little to "chewy" for my taste. When I bite into a piece of pizza, I would like to bite through, not have to tug at it to pull off a bite. They have individual TV's at the booths. The first booth we sat at, it didn't work so the waitress moved us. I am pretty sure the remotes haven't been cleaned in some time, so I felt changing the channel could be a health risk. I have been to a lot of pizza places and this would have to be at the bottom of my list so far.

We ate there over the weekend. The atmosphere is pretty good. We had a large group and of course they messed up our reservation. I would say the pizza is most comparable to Tony Bombazz with a little less spice and little more price. Also, not a place to take little ones. They no longer have a changing table in the bathroom so my wife had to put my daughter on the nasty bathroom floor to change her diaper. Doubt my wife will ever allow us to go back.

Let's start with the food. Very average bar food and pizza that is comparable to Pizza Hut or Papa Johns. I knew this going in as I have been here many times. Why do I subject myself to this mediocre food? Because Chubby has NFL Sunday ticket and my Eagles aren't on Fox every Sunday. So this Sunday I am primed for opening day and get to Chubby's early to get a booth for my game. I look at the menu and know what's there but am hoping for something new. I did not want the pizza. I settled on a burger, it was not too great! As game time neared and I am finishing my burger, I come to find out that Chubby is not prepared for opening day and they will not be showing the Eagles game. So I approach Chubby himself and get a very rude comment and am basically told too bad. So he got me to eat his terrible food and I did not get to see my game. This could have been handled much better, especially by a want to be politician. Needless to say, I am trying to find another place to watch the games on Sunday. Hopefully with better food!

Great place for families with a wonderful patio. I enjoyed the pizza and the nice cold draft beer selection - our favorites, blue moon and falls city. They have music on the huge covered patio on the weekends. Dog friendly. Very laid back atmosphere, but the service is very good. Other 'pub' style food - sandwiches, wings & salads. This place is enormous, so you probably won't ever have to wait for a table. They have a game room for the kids too so bring plenty of quarters if you have youngins. Not a gourmet night, but definitely a fun pub night. Also got a yelp coupon when I checked in - woo hoo! We like to stop here on our way home from work on Friday with our office dogs. Music was from the 70's when we were last here and the group was excellent. A cheap and fun night.

I saw the commercial several times on this place and decide when I was close to give them a try. This place seems to have a lot going for it as they are certainly trying to create a comfortable eating experience and it was definitely nice to catch all the games on the tvs there, but as for the food....well we tried the Chubby Rays special and at the 22.95 for the 14 in quite frankly I expected more... thin toppngs, stringy cheese, and overall the taste was comparable to something we could've gotten at Papa johns and saved some bucks

Typical sports bar. Cool setting in that they have mini-TVs at each booth. Good is decent, but not great. Be careful though, they won't charge you for a month if you pay with a card, then do 3 or 4 transactions at once. Absolutely terrible.

First time here. Nice place to watch sports. TVs in several of the booths. The hamburger and pizza were both very tasty. Thick yummy cheese on the pizzas. The waitress attentive and welcoming. I will go back.

We've heard really good things about this place, but we were greatly disappointed. We ordered a sampler platter, everything was very greasy. The pizza was ok. Not outstanding like I'd hoped, but decently priced. The service was awful! Our beer was borderline warm when we it finally arrived at our table, the waitress never checked on us when our food came to our table and we had to ask for our check. Plus, there was a $5 off coupon when I checked in with Yelp that she didn't honor. I'm giving it 2 stars because the pizza was decent and the atmosphere (I can only assume) would be awesome during games. There were TVs everywhere! Personal ones at each table and massive ones on the main wall.
(2)
Shal V.
We ordered a 12" pizza for carryout - half Chubby Ray's Special and half cheese. The Pizza was good but nothing special...certainly not for $20, which we thought was a bit steep for a 12". Don't get me wrong - I'm willing to pay extra for excellent pizza but higher prices demand higher quality. I'll go back because I want to try some of the other specialty pizzas.

Alright, I have to give this place an upgrade on their rating based on service. My guy and I stopped by for an afternoon beer while doing business in the area. The bartender was so friendly! He insisted we eat something and got us their delicious fried mushrooms to try. The servers walking by all joined in on our conversation and by the end, I knew I wanted to be a regular here. We will definitely be back ASAP!

Average pizza - Jtown rednex don't know the difference. Bad table service. Wait at the door w/ no place to sit. Expensive pizza =starts at $14 for the same pizza you can get at the Hut/PJ's or Dom's for $10. Sandwiches mediocre. Overall, it's a beer joint that added bar appetizers and then decided to use that machine they show on Restaurant Impossible for pizzas. Not sure why JTowners pack in there like the Rapture is pending for tomorrow. Rated 4 stars because Yelp won't let you rate less.

Have eaten here twice, just to make sure. It's decent pizza, however, it's far great. I've only had the pizza so I can't comment on any other menu items. In my opinion, for about the same money, I'd much rather have Impellizeris. The quality of the ingredients at Impellizeris seems to make for a much better pie. The cheese at Impellizeris is creamier, not the stringy, chewy cheese you get at Rays, or most other pizza places around town. To each their own, just my opinion.

I personally love this place. Yes its a little expensive for pizza but its thick stacked with toppings pizza.Chubby Ray is a J-Town legend and in fact ran for mayor at one point I believe. Most people who eat here are regular's who live in the local area. The house I grew up in a just a couple miles away. My personally favorite is actually the cheesy bread. You can even get toppings on it like pepperoni or sausage. I know it sounds simple buts its so good. If you want to get the real JTown experience you need to come out during Gaslight Festival. Walk around the little down town. Be on the lookout for a pair of early 40's brothers in orange fest, locally known as Spaghetti and Meatball. Drive down the street to Chubby Ray's Louisville Pizza Company for a slice a pie along with your nightcap. Great place to watch a game since there are TV's everywhere. Just don't go on a UK game day. Trashy wildcat fans are in abundance in this area of the state.

Chubby Rays is good. A mediocre description for a mediocre place. If I was 11, and my parents took the little league baseball team to Chubby Rays after a game for pizza- it's a five-star spot! If I am a foodie on any level- it's a generous three stars. The atmosphere serves it's purpose well for a J-Town family summer outing, but will I ever drive out there from another part of town- NO. There just isn't anything special about it. I suggest you try it if you're in the area, but the pizza just doesn't hold up to many other options within driving distance.

Good pizza, really good, great atmosphere, especially with the Christmas lights. Loved that there were tv's at every table to either entertain our kids or watch the game. The only bad thing is, when we went there we were seated right by the exit to the smoking area and it was freezing cold outside. Our poor 3 and 5 year old kids nearly froze so we had to leave early.

First visit. We had to call manager twice. 1) Waitress took order for cheesy fries & brought drinks 2) Sweet tea not sweet at all 3) brought cheesy fries, flung plate on tape, fries slid, not off on table thank God, and forgot ranch dressing. Fries were great! Waitress took order for pizza. 4) Waitress never came back to table. Order given 3:38pm & Husband had to go ask for our waitress 4:58. 5) Waitress return with "Pride Pizza". She stated I had to reheat twice.... Cheese wouldn't melt". We observed black and burnt. We advised waitress. She reply, "no it's not burned. It's fine!" My husband lefted pizza up from pan showing black burned. He stated, "THAT'S NOT BURNT!" Waitress grabbed pizza pan & said, "fine! I'll get you another one and get something off!" Her face turned red. Spoke very angry. Returned to kitchen with door wide open where we could see her complaining on us. 6) We thought very unprofessional thought we should let manager now. Husband approached her and ask if she could come to our table to express both of pur concerns. She did. She was very nice and was going to reorder and check pizza herself. So we thought OK. 7) Manager left to kitchen to speak to waitress regarding behavior. After she left kitchen, waitress began speaking with another waitress with tattoos who began speaking with guy cutting up meat who began giving our table a stare down. The gentleman was so bad made my husband concerned so we just were alert but notice he just kept cutting meat but constantly kept watching us. We alerted the hostess who advised he was on his third time returning. He had been fired twice. We then took pictures and filmed him...note it never phased him. It was very odd and creepy. We asked for manager. We showed her the film, and pictures and asked for her to give us pizza to go. We wanted to leave. Only positive thing we received pizza free. It should have been free. Time lapse 2 1/2 hours from the time we walked in. We will NEVER GO BACK!!!! Note: This was are first visit and drove from Southern Indiana to Jeffersontown, Ky almost and hour drive. 52 miles.

Way too pricey with beer and the pizza. Lower prices and this could be a great place.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Service was great. Side salad DELICIOUS and Candace was a sweet waitress along sure we had everything we needed.

The last three times we have been there we have had long waits for our food. Two of those times were 45 minutes each. The burgers are decent and the food is ok.

(5)Lynn P.
(2)Travis H.

(4)Frank S.
(2)Matthew P.
Typical sports bar. Cool setting in that they have mini-TVs at each booth. Good is decent, but not great. Be careful though, they won't charge you for a month if you pay with a card, then do 3 or 4 transactions at once. Absolutely terrible.
(1)Jennifer P.
First time here. Nice place to watch sports. TVs in several of the booths. The hamburger and pizza were both very tasty. Thick yummy cheese on the pizzas. The waitress attentive and welcoming. I will go back.
(4)Matt C.
This is a great local pizza joint! All the pies are good and the Santa Fe is great! Fun atmosphere and a t.v. in every booth. Super for watching sports events. Lots of covered outdoor seating! The owner shows up regularly.. Love it!
(5)Amy H.
(2)Shal V.
(3)Claire B.
(5)Jeff N.
(4)Kerry H.
(2)Anson Y.
(4)Kristi B.
Amazing pizza! Pricey...but super yummy! It's more of a "treat" than a regular occurrence because of the price.
(4)Jessie F.
Went during the day and it was a great family place. My husband could watch sports on the big screen and the kids could watch a cartoon on the tv table. The pizza was great, a little pricey.
(4)Andy C.

52 miles.

Amazing pizza! Pricey...but super yummy! It's more of a "treat" than a regular occurrence because of the price.

Went during the day and it was a great family place. My husband could watch sports on the big screen and the kids could watch a cartoon on the tv table. The pizza was great, a little pricey.

Way too pricey with beer and the pizza. Lower prices and this could be a great place.
