Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I haven't been since they've expanded, but Caffe Classico has always been a little bit of Spain (and Europe, in general) in Louisville. The decor and design of the place screams modern European bistro, as several have mentioned already. The coffee is very similar in style and quality to what you'd find at most coffee spots in Europe. There are plenty of equally excellent coffee shops in Louisville, but this one is great when you want something a little different and a little more European - in this way, this spot is unique. Furthermore, the food is amazing and some of the best in Louisville (at a very reasonable price, too). Without going into specifics of the food, I will say this place is a hidden gem. However, I will say the pommes frites are great, and I love the small but impressive selection of beer.

Excellent coffee. Great atmosphere as well!

I've never been to France or Italy -- some day, fingers crossed! -- but I feel a little like I'm in the Europe of my dreams when I'm at Caffe Classico. There's a Vespa in the corner for crying out loud! I went to Caffe Classico for lunch with a new friend and ordered the Panini Prosciutto, which comes with prosciutto, mozzarella, tomatoes and baby spinach. The mozzarella was warm and gooey -- not congealed like it can get if it's not served immediately after coming out of the press. Kettle chips and a small salad came on the side. Our service was prompt, attentive, and the restaurant is spotlessly clean. I feel a bit regretful that I didn't order the coffee, though. After reading some other Yelp reviews of Caffe Classico, it's now evident that I missed out. Oh well, next time. Also next time, I'd like to go there for dinner. It seems like it would be very romantic as a date spot. Molto romantico!

This is one of my all time favorite places. The food is great and reasonably priced. If you're really looking for a good deal, most of the entrees can be ordered in half portions. If the fancier sounding dishes aren't your thing, they have spectacular pizza, steaks, and French fries. They usually have a great selection baked deserts and even gelato. As if the food wasn't enough, the ambiance is wonderful and there is almost always ample seating, even on Friday and Saturday night. Finally, the service is always friendly and professional. I can't say enough good things about Caffe Classico.
(4)Amy L.
Fancy, but fairly priced. Our group arrived around 6 and the place wasn't full at all, but it did fill within the hour, so if you show up and are a person who normally takes emptiness to mean "not such a good restaurant", do not be deterred. The food was great, service friendly, and who doesn't appreciate a cool older gentlemen playing guitar in the corner. ha. We ordered yelp recommendations and server recommendations and were pleased with each one. Bonus - if you're craving ice cream after, there's a Comfy Cow across the street... Will be returning to the cafe section for coffee!

This is great food and a wonderful place to just relax or study. If you find yourself on Frankfort aveune come to this cafe. Yes it might be pricy but the food is amazing definitely somewhere I will come back to.
(5)Janis C.
Enchanting ambience with live classical guitar performance. Tonight's grilled salmon layered over baked sweet potato was gastronomy built upon simplicity and the caffe mocha ... classico.
(5)Janet D.
I've only been here for lunch, but BEST french fries in town - 3 dipping sauces & perfectly cooked. French fry throw down. The gazpacho is awesome too. The food is consistently good and reasonably priced. Great dining spot that might be an undiscovered gem in the Louisville dining scene.

What did I ever do to you, Cafe Classico? Seriously. Did I give you the stink-eye by accident? Did I leave the gate open to your backyard causing your dog to run away? Do you hate me because I am beautiful? Every time I come here it has been a laughably terrible experience after another after another. First time I came here on a beautiful, sunny Tuesday I arrived to glares from the girls at the bar. Confused, I awkwardly shuffled to a nearby table where I sat, unloved and ignored. After a good twenty minutes I walked over to the bar and asked if I could get a glass of water. With a hefty eye-roll and a subtle snort of disdain my glass of water appeared on the counter, to which I shuffled back to my table. Pass another five or so minutes and one of the waitresses unglues herself from her phone to come over to my table. "So, are you going to order?" She snaps. I order the cheese platter (which sounded absolutely delicious) and she flounces off without any acknowledgement that she even heard what I said. Fastforward another 20 minutes and my glass of water is sitting empty, and my stomach is chewing itself from hunger. I ask about the status of my order to which the girl at the bar shrugs her shoulders while typing on her phone. I guess her tumblr needed to be updated, so I go back to the table. Another ten minutes passes and the waitress comes over and says "Yeah, so, we're out of (one type of cheese) so we can't give you the order." I ask if I can just get the platter without that cheese. From the look on her face you might have thought I was a stupid child asking why I can't breathe underwater. Yet another hefty eye-roll and a condescending "uh, no." I canceled my order and left. A few months later I go with a group of friends who were eager to try this place out. We go inside, only to be rudely told "Uh, we're closing like in five minutes." My friend checked the hours and unless time truly is relative, we were smack dab in the middle of hours of operation. When pointing this out the waitress informs us that as a staff member she knows the hours better than us. We leave. They're still open an hour later when we walked by. THEN I was brought here for a date. I tried to politely suggest other places (I didn't want to tell the dude this place blows goats in service and run the risk of sounding uppity). I actually got to eat, and the food was pretty good (so another star for that. Bringing the score up to 1 instead of 0). The service was pretty slow, in fact, if they were any slower I think they might have gone backward. It wasn't busy, either. Oh well. Maybe one day Cafe Classico and I will have that awkward, weepy moment where we apologize and hug it out even though we don't even know what we're apologizing for. Can I also say how hilariously ironic it is that there is a question for "Waiter service" and the option of "Not sure", because I'm honestly not sure.

the cappuccino is the BEST. The service is a little weird.I have had salads and sandwiches-always delicious.

My wife and I dined here tonight after moving to Louisville this week. My wife chose this restaurant based on the solid Yelp reviews she saw and I must say I am very glad she did. First off, the location in Clifton is perfect. The interior of the restaurant is very nice with two rooms: one in the front with more of a coffee shop feel and one in the back that was more dimly lit and had the feel of a proper restaurant. We chose the back room based on the guitar player, who was excellent the entire time we dined. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted before I even got to the restaurant. We split the Belgian Pomme Frittes after hearing they were previously voted best fries in Louisville. Being a newbie to the city, it is too early for me to say "Best in Town" but they will certainly be an early favorite. The appetizer came with three dipping sauces: a traditional ketchup (standard), a chipotle mayo (flavor balance seemed a little off) and a spicy ranch (my favorite of the three). After polishing off over half of this appetizer, I was sure I would have leftovers from my entree. This was not to be, however, once I tasted my entree selection. I ordered the Pork Tenderloin con Grappa Miel and I highly urge you to do the same. The tenderloin was gorgeously charred with a black peppercorn and thyme rub. It came with excellent sweet potato medallions and asparagus which were complimented in a unique way by the grappa and honey reduction. Of the reduction, I did not pick up much grappa notes, but the honey flavor was strong and nicely complimented the components of the plate. I can not speak highly enough of the preparation of the pork, however. The meat was incredibly tender and nice and hot through every bite. I intended on having leftovers, but just simply could not put my fork down. My wife ordered the Saffron Asiago Risotto Cakes, of which I had a couple bites. The cakes had a very unique flavor, of which I would like to taste in the future. After our excellent main courses, we simply could not pass up dessert. We both had caffe romas, which were very tasty, as well as a chocolate creme brulee and alfajores. The chocolate creme brulee was very good, but did not have the usual consistent of this dessert as it was more of a paste. The alfajores was a star in my book and is a traditional Argentinian cookie sandwich with notes of lemon and coconut. These desserts were a perfect capping to an overall amazing meal. I must say I am incredibly impressed with Caffe Classico. I would highly recommend the spot to anyone and look forward to repeat visits. Being new to the area, it is probably too early to call this one of my top choices in the city, however I look forward to attempting to find a spot that can compete with Caffe Classico's high caliber combination of food, service, and ambiance.

If you can survive crossing Frankfort this place will reward you with some tasty paninis and salads. But seriously look both ways when crossing the street even when you have the light. A friend was no more than 6 inches from being hit by a car running a red light. Oh, Louisville.

Great coffee and great food. It feels like a european coffee shot. The decor and atmosphere speaks authentic Eurobistro. The staff and owner are friendly, easy going and polite. Great smooth coffee. Where else can you find Chimay Ale on tap? here is a professional review: louisville.metromix.com/…

Excellent atmosphere, family friendly but definitely not a playground! Frittes were awesome and so was the Italiano Panini.

Passed this place hundreds of time, so finally decided to have lunch there. Started with the huevos fritos al caballo. The fries were good, the egg on top was cooked well, and the sauce they use is interesting. I was hoping for something mind blowing, but it was missing something. Maybe if they added more sauce or added shredded cheese it would be the dish i was hoping to get. I am not a coffee drinker, but my fiance said this was one of the best cups of coffee she ever had. We had the chicken roulade and feta panini with cup of chicken and rice soup. The chicken roulade had great flavor and the risotto cakes were very good as well. They were out of asparagus so we got the lima bean succotash. It was good for a bite or two, but way too salty and I usually put salt on everything. It did have a ton of flavor but just too salty. Feta panini was good, but I was really hoping for a lot more flavor. It has sundried tomatoes and pesto, it should be loaded with flavor. Soup was very good, but they were out of the other soup of the day which sounded way better. Overall I would go back for lunch and try a few other things. Dinner menu is about the same as lunch with a few other items added to entrees. They do sound appealing so I may end up there for dinner soon.

Four words - Saffron Asiago Risotto Cakes. O.M.G. I went here for lunch with a friend last Friday after finally realizing this place does have food after having been misinformed previously. I am very happy to have discovered the truth. This place was fantastic. The portion of risotto cakes served up on a lima bean succotash was huge, and I still ended up eating every last bite. I do love lima beans, but these were some of the best I've ever had. And the cheesy risotto cakes were delicious. My lunch date had an Italian Panini and was very happy with her choice. I saw some other sandwiches on the tables around us and they looked great, too. Our server was a little on the odd side (I've had a run of those lately), but the guy behind the counter was super friendly and chatty. This spot has a great little coffee, wine and liquor selection. Nice atmosphere and live music in the evenings. It was a great lunch spot and I'll be back for sure!

Pizza is great. Salads, too. Very nice ambiance.

Food is ok but be prepared to wait for it for 40+ minutes. I was not really happy at all nor were my 9 other friends

i was in town from colorado visiting a friend and she took me to cafe classico. honestly the best coffee i have ever had in america, which is saying a lot. we split the chocolate creme brulee and a regular creme brulee. i had never tried chocolate before, it was alright but the regular one deserves a gold star. i have never lived in louisville, but this cafe makes me want to!

Caffe Classico has a very romantic and well, classic feeling ambience. It struck me immediately as the pefect place for a date or other intimate dinner. I personally joined a friend for dinner there in the back dining room before an elite event taking place in their front room. We started by ordering Pomme Frittes which came with three dipping sauces. We selected them after hearing that they had won an award for being the best fries in Louisville. They did not disappoint as they were absolutely delicious. I then ordered a Margarita Pizza and my friend ordered a Pizza Alla Bobo. The ingredients on my pizza were extremely fresh. The dough was light and flavorful. I would venture to say that it was the best Margarita Pizza that I have ever had. My friend also enjoyed his Pizza Alla Bobo. I also have to mention that the service was impecible. My water glass was never empty but I never noticed it being refilled. We were never left wanting anything but also didn't feel intruded upon by the wait staff. There was also live guitar music being played. This meal was truly the pinacle of perfection.

Stopped in for lunch today. Perfection. Soup-10. Bread-10. Sandwich-10. Service-10. This place is proof that bigger is not needed for better. This small cafe is awesome. Enjoy, and you are welcome.

I liked everything about this place! My Wife and I headed here during our weekend in Louisville.... and it was well worth it! We grabbed a copy of Louisville magazine as soon as we hit town and noticed that CC was voted as having the best fries.... sold. What the article DIDN'T mention is that everything else seems pretty good too. +1 star for having Chimay on tap! We started by splitting the empanadas (one each: vegetable, chicken, beef). It started off the meal well, and had us arguing which one was best. We both got a panini. Prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato, and spinach for her.... ham, swiss, tomato, and spinach for me. Both fine choices. Of course we made sure to order the frites as well. We finished off with splitting a chocolate gelato and a couple cappuccinos. The decor was uncluttered and clean.... but comfortable. It certainly helped that everyone in the restaurant seemed to be with family or friends that they hadn't seen in awhile. Great conversations going on everywhere. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The meal went along at a leisurely place. Maybe not the best place to eat and run.... but that's just my impression. Price is more than you might feel like spending.... but it was well worth it. A little slice of a casual dining experience that you would expect during a trip to Europe.... minus the expensive flight. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite restaurants in Louisville! I especially enjoy their pizzas and salads followed by gelato and coffee. They'v also got great beer on tap. It's a low-key place with consistent service and food; nice for a small group or date night.

We came for dinner, and everything was just perfect. The beer selection was great, the live music was just right, and our entrees were hot and delicious. We will definitely be coming back!
(5)Keegan B.
A restaurant with cool relaxed feel, a man plucks classical guitar in the corner. Ice cubes tumble in iced coffee as the cream drifts to the bottom. The caffé classico offers the refined feel of bistro with poise and grace. They offer a well-stocked bar (being the only bar I've seen carrying makers mark 46.) We had crisp oil free pommes frites with ketchup and two great sauces. We got the pizza bobo a pizza with prosciutto with pepperoni. Delicious, and an exquisite margarita pizza with small plum or cherry tomatoes on top. The service was impeccable the staff is polite fast and friendly. The staff helped one another out they seem to care more about the customer than anything else. The food was great the crust on the pizzas crisp and just the right amount of cheese. I will defiantly go back, and try to cover and taste the rest of the menu. There was a lot that looks good on it. They are not cheap but prices are fair. Sandwiches are $8 and the pizzas not much more dinner is 10 to 15 a plate but worth it. Our table was 50 for an appetizer two pizzas and my iced coffee. Will be going back.
(5)Melissa M.
Lovely, lovely little place! Great coffee and great atmosphere. Perfect for a low key date night or lunch with friends. The seafood soup is just out of this world! Very small place, but very welcoming. They also have this really neat Flamenco night where you can watch dancers while enjoying a meal. Be warned though, that it's so small you need to arrive a good hour before the show to get a seat...unless you're ok with standing. Also expect to pay an extra $5 to get in on that night. I have enjoyed it thoroughly every time I've visited!

The Market street resturants are better..

The eggs and fries keep me coming back.

Very yuppie restaurant. food=ranging from A to C+, some good some okay service=C+ hours=D sometimes their open, sometimes they're not= irregular/unpredictable hours I've been several times as I enjoy the ambiance of this restaurant. The cookies (alfajores) are wonderful and authentic. Their daily specials are typically very tasty. Classical guitar= even better!
(3)Michael B.
My wife and I have lived in Louisville for about 4 years. We were lucky enough on the first weekend in town to meander into this gem. A lot of other reviewers have nailed it in terms of a Euro style bistro. You immediately get that feel and it is not contrived at all. We don't just go for the great ambience though. The food is always wonderful. I love the fries, paninis, chicken salad sandwich, and nicoise salad. The one item not mentioned by others is the Seafood Chowder. It is killer but not always available. Give this place a chance and you will be going back again and again.
(5)Lynn L.
Came here for lunch recently, and really enjoyed! I agree with Thomas - very authentic Eurobistro feel. Nice selection of salads, paninis, and entrees, as well as beer and wine. I hear they have events here sometimes, which could be really cool - flamenco anyone? I look forward to coming back here once I relocate to try more of the menu, and some of their coffee!

My ratings are based on 5 things, each earns a star. 1. Atmosphere 2. Service 3. Food 4. Price 5. Wow - atmosphere - Romantic and Classy I was looking for a nice place that you wouldn't go on a regular basis for a special Christmas date with the GF. This was the place I was looking for. The room was dimly lit with a single candle on each table, also had a rose on each table. Each table was a minimum of 6 feet away from all of the other tables, which made for an intimate date, we could see the other people but not really hear what they were talking about. A man was playing music on an acoustic guitar that really made the evening great. Attire around the place is nicer. I wore a pair of dress pants and shoes with a button down and didn't feel overdressed. If you and the lady want to get a little dressy, go for it, you'll fit right in. - service - Professional and Helpful The service was great, cups were never empty. The waitresses were there to do their jobs, they weren't checking their phones or chit chatting between table visits, they were serious about what they were doing. They were informative and did anything I asked them but were never intrusive. - food - Fancy and Good App: Croquetas De Salmon. These were good but not blow my mind good. There were two that came with it. The sauce that comes on the side dashed like mayonnaise with a bit of wasabi, of what we had, this was the least favorite, but it was still good. Meal: Chicken Roulade. Very flavorful and delicious. It looks like little Italian chicken sushi pieces! The risotto cakes were absolutely amazing. Both my girlfriend and I got this and were very happy with it. Dessert: Two cookies with some filling between them, and coconut on the outside edge. They had a lemony taste to them. With this we had a double shot latte. The combination was great! For sure my favorite part of our meal. Soft and firm, not messy. The coffee was also very good. Overall: the more we are, the better it got. Portions were modest, but we were both full. - price - Not cheap but Worth it I went into this expecting to spend some money because it was supposed to be a nicer place to eat and a special occasion, and I was actually surprised when we got the bill. By the end of the night, with all we had eaten, the service we received, and the great experience, I expected a larger bill. The total bill was around $55! I was more than happy to cough up an extra $20 for a tip (including the guitar guy). As far as price goes, this place will give you a bang for your buck. Guys, if you want to impress a special someone this is a great place to go. - wow - Excellent Service This is the "above and beyond" category. When I left I was thinking about how pleased I was with our waitresses. They would stand in the corner and watch the room and somehow, every time I thought to myself "I need our waitress" she came over! They always seemed to know when to come over. We were there for a good 2 hours at least enjoying our conversation and they never made me feel like I needed to leave soon, it was a constant attitude of "I'm here to help you". OVERALL I would for sure return to this place and recommend it to my friends. It was fancy, but not too fancy, and not too expensive. The food tastes good, and the service is some of the best I've had.
(5)Mena T.
Delightful wine selection and the food I've enjoyed in my two visits has been fantastic. It feels like walking into a European cafe.
(5)Carolyn H.
Absolutely excels at every turn. Service, atmosphere, selection, flavors and textures, this place is bliss. Last night was only for sherbet and coffee but what a delight. Strawberry sherbet and a soy latte before an evening stroll down Frankfort Ave? Yes, please. Regarding staff, all I can say is that the service here reminds me that service was once a respected profession which required sophistication and training - and here, it still does. The atmosphere succeeds in transporting one to a European café and the space is divided between casual lunch or coffee tables/bar and a dining room for supper where a corner is dedicated to live entertainment. One evening it was simply a man with a Spanish guitar. Now, the food: Intentional. Balanced. Flavor is always matched with texture and proportion, effectively engaging the entire palate. Stuffed spiced pork tenderloin supper, Belgian Fries appetizer, fruit and nut salad over field greens, en croute. That is a sampling of dishes I've enjoyed in recent years. Please start or finish with your coffee or wine. The coffee comes with a tiny graham cookie to which I look forward on every visit. Watch for their wine tasting events, too. Shortly, C'est magnifique!
(5)Phil B.
The food, especially the fries, is great. The reason this place gets one star is because I cannot give anyb less. Tommy, the owner, has got to be one of the rudest people I've ever met in regards to business owners.
(1)Jasmine A.
I really love Cafe Classico's options. One side is a casual contemporary coffee shop and the other side is an upscale restaurant/bar where servers dress in black button down shirts, a single rose filled vase is placed on on each table, and live classical guitar music plays in the background. If you're in the mood for casual or classy, lunch or dinner, coffee or dessert, this espresso boutique and cafe has something to offer you. When I visited with a couple of friends, we were craving dinner. Dinner entrees range from $14 to $17. I ordered the garlic shrimp linguini. I am often disappointed by pasta dishes that I order in Louisville by their use cheese to overcompensate for a lack of spices. But at Caffe Classico the shrimp was perfectly cooked and the linguini sauce was light, yet still flavorful. The portion sizes aren't huge, but that can be expected from any restaurant attempting a fine dining flair. This leads me to my one criticism. While I love the drastic differences between the restaurant and coffee house that makes up Cafe Classico, I believe that it's also its downfall. I think that, much like a pre-teen girl wearing makeup for the first time, Cafe Classico overdoes it with the fine dining elements without tying them together in a cohesive manner and I think it comes across as a little tacky. Regardless, I still think its a cool spot with great food that is well worth checking out.
(4)Claire B.
I've only eaten at this place once, but the salad I had was absolutely tops! The lyonnaise salad had nice, fresh lettuce, delicious bacon-y dressing, a perfectly-cooked egg and a "crouton" (ie a toasted slice of baguette). I ate the whole thing in one sitting and scraped the plate. I am taking off one star because the crouton was a little thick and hard to cut and the ambiance was a little quiet, but even so, I would come back for another "breakfast salad" (my words, not theirs').
(4)A. Jaden J.
Always a delight to say the least. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, the hint of coziness from the small candle on each table adds just enough to give that at home feel. Located on a quaint corner in my neighborhood within walking distance, makes it even more attractive. I will be honest, I am not a fan of Margarita pizza in a normal situation, however....there's is amazing! The beer list is one of the best in the city in my opinion, simply because they offer draft options that you cannot seem to find anywhere else. The bottle options are pretty impressive as well. Not overwhelmed with IPA's only like a lot of places. Not everyone loves IPA's Louisville! The service is also up to par, not waiting for a water refill is a pleasant thing. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and check it out!
(5)Megan F.
I recently went here on a coffee/drinks date after hearing so many wonderful things about this "espresso boutique and cafe". I specifically chose Caffe Classico because it is one of the few and the proud places that serve both coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages that is open a little bit later on a weeknight. That also is not a Vint or a Heine Bros. I love those places too, but sometimes a little variety is nice. Side note: I really wanted hot herbal tea and didn't see it listed on the website, but they do in fact have a variety of 6 or so teas. Even with the romantic atmosphere, overt with single red roses atop the tables, I could see this place being great for lunch with coworkers, dinner with friends/family, etc. You've got two options: the cafe or a more formal dining area. Bookmarking this place to go back for the latter--and the food!
(5)Jeff N.
Classico is good but I honestly don't understand the majority of over-the-top reviews on here. Perhaps it has something to do w/ Louisville being the new "foodie" town where people will eat gravel on a toasted asphalt shingle and rave about it. idk. That disclaimer said, yes - the paninis & pizze are good, the salads are good & most of the apps are good. Price range decent. Service good. But, out of the ball park? No. It's a neighborhood diner. It's illegal to park motor vehicles (i.e the Vespa, Tommy) on the sidewalk.
(3)John L.
I've been coming to Caffe Classico for years. My first visit was strictly for the coffee. The owner take a lot of pride in crafting an excellent cup...and it IS excellent coffee. Originally offering only a lunch menu, Caffe Classico slowly expanded to a full dinner menu too. The front part of the restaurant is casual and usually pretty quiet. The back addition offers booths, tables, and seating at the intimate full bar. In the back there is usually live guitar music during the dinner hours, too. ALL of the selections on the menu are excellent. The freshly prepared dinner salads and soups are great. The Belgian Fries appetizer is to die for: piping hot fries with three dipping sauces. The thin crust pizzas are yummy too. The sandwiches are more than good. I believe the bread comes from the Blue Dog Bakery just down the street. I've never been disappointed! The owner specifically decided NOT to have WiFi available. Instead you're supposed to enjoy each others company. This actually works. You'll see people having intimate conversations over coffee or a meal; not tangle of cords to folks computers while they're updating their FB status. It's actually a very pleasant atmosphere. Bravo! Although it sounds like a coffee place, Caffe Classico is not open in the early morning. They open at 10am Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Mondays.
(5)Enid C.
I went for brunch. It was okay. I heard dinner is better here. Coffee: yuuuuuuum. It would be lovely to meet a friend just for coffee and little sweet something. Comes with one of those speculoos gingersnap-type cookies that you get on airplanes sometimes. I also saw gelato and some baked goods. Ambience: pleasant, airy, light wood throughout. Some bar height tables with stools, some regular tables. There's also a back room with seating, I presume for dinner. Food: average. Modest portions, and I am not a big eater. Huevos = two sunny side up eggs over a pile of French fries and a few cubes of balsamic vinegar-splashed petite diced tomatoes. I was taken aback by the concept of eggs and fries at first, but then reasoned it's like eggs and hash browns except fully embracing the fried potato concept. Simple, good, alarmingly easy to hoover up. I got the cup of soup and half salad. Soup was Moroccan lentil, tomato-y with a few chickpeas and warm spices. Good, but I found it a bit salty and the portion small (about 6 oz. (a small coffee at Starbucks is 12 oz.)). For the salad I chose the Nicoise. I was surprised when it arrived with a scoop of tuna salad (i.e. smashed up tuna with mayo and shredded carrot) rather than chunks of tuna, but it was tasty enough. The greens were mixed baby greens. There were also some green beans (maybe 6), halved cherry tomatoes, nicoise olives, slices of boiled red-skin potato (less than half a potato in total), and one-quarter of a hard boiled egg. The yolk had that yucky grey-green ring around it. The salad components were not neatly arranged, but tossed. All in all, it was just okay.

Very good food. My wife and I stopped by and ate after reading such great reviews for them on Yelp. The reviews turned out to be true -- the fries are good, not so much because of the fry, but because of sauce they serve with it. Our two entree's were delicious, and the customer service was fair.

I should say I haven't eaten here recently, but I've been here several times with my family, and really enjoyed it each time we went. They have excellent service, a short but very tasty menu (eggplant parmesan pizza, anyone?!), and the ambiance is slightly upscale while being relaxed. It's also on the quiet side, which is a plus when you're visiting with family. Good for a relaxed evening with friends or a date.

LOVE! Not sure how it took me forever and a day to finally check this place out, but so glad that I did. It looks like a kind of upscale coffee shop. And they do serve coffee. But it is so much more. Casual, contemporary cafe in the front and then down a little corridor and there you are in a gorgeous flamenco dancing themed classy restaurant. Nice high top tables, big cozy booths, and most nights, live guitar. The menu is wide ranging and quite reasonably priced, with anything from sashimi quality tuna for their tuna salad sandwiches, to frittes with multiple dipping sauces, to 15 dollar pork tenderloin with sweet potato and asparagus. All of the dishes that I sampled were lovely and we ended with wonderful lattes with these cute little tasty gingerbread meets coffee cookies that were extremely reminiscent of what we would get with our cafes in Europe. Perfect place for a date. Perfect. Without spending a fortune. The art is delightful and elegant. Apparently they also have flamenco dancing some nights which I can't wait to see! Thank you whoever you are for bringing a lovely spot to our lovely city.

The romance! The Jamon Iberico! I really really like Caffe Classico! So much so I am not sure where to start... The ambiance: dim lighting, fresh roses on every table, live classical guitar player in the background. The sound level is at a perfect decibel that allows for entertainment and conversation at the same time. The food: This is the first time I have tried the famed Jamon Iberico. I cannot get enough! Everything that Bourdain and Zimmern has said about this legendary ham is true! "Nutty" is the first word that comes to mind when I tried the Sample Jamon. It is not salty like most of the prosciutto I have had. I just need to get the bigger portion when I return. I also ordered a bowl of seafood chowder. It was creamy, rich and spicy. The food here has that light handed touch: unpretentious, uncomplicated but still refined. The portion sizes are adequate but will not leave you dreading your decision to finish the whole thing. This is definitely a great place for a romantic date in the evening. It can also be a great place for a leisurely lunch with friends in the afternoon. I can't wait to come back!

Beautiful store and good espresso! We stopped in for an espresso on ice and wished we were hungry to try the empanadas. The espresso was nice, rich, and dark. The menu had a nice selection so we will have to come back when we are in town. It seems like a great place for date night as well; very romantic. The service was quick as well!

Came to see the flamenco dancers, reservations were lost but we managed to get a table, service absolutely horrible. We would have bought more drinks but flagging the waitress down was impossible. They weren't serving anyone. They could have made more.money if they were taking drinking orders. My mom ordered a orange sparkling water, that they served in a can. We had to ask for a glass with ice, they were out of cheese and crackers as well. Really?. The only great thing were the dancers... Last time I was here it was to see the dancers, if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have bothered twice.

This place gets a good 3.5 star rating for me. To be honest, I don't think it exactly knows its' spot in life. My man friend and I came in here for a low key dinner and enjoyed some wine, the cheese plate, the Salmon cakes (for me) and the vegetarian cakes for him. We both enjoyed our food and wine, but I think the spot has an identity crisis. That being said, I enjoyed it! So many different types of people enjoying a different type of time in one place. I will definitely be back, but understanding this place is key!

A nice surprise in food-challenged Louisville. Went here for lunch and had some awesome belgian fries and an italian panini + proscuitto. Considering even Whole Foods in Louisville doesn't carry proscuitto, this is a plus. Great place for lunch!

Always good service and good food priced fairly. Good atmosphere...a real gem of a place for lunch or dinner.

I just love when a place lives up to my hopes for it! For too long, Caffe Classico had occupied a spot on my list of restaurants that I wanted to try out in Louisville. I perused their menu on line and saw that they offered weekend brunch, so I made a mental note to go on a weekend. When I woke up this morning, something told me that today was the day. Maybe it was the warmer weather, the birds singing their blissfully bucolic song as I woke up, or the sun after a gloomy Saturday (and even gloomier previous week that had seen it -- eek! -- snow). In any case, today was the day. I've been fortunate enough to do quite a bit of traveling, and from the outside, Caffe Classico reminded me of an Old World eatery. The understated sign, the corner doorway with a lever handle, and the large picture windows for people-watching all made me feel like I was a little bit closer to somewhere like France or Argentina. Inside, it had the fastidious simplicity of a coffeehouse in Austria: clean, bright, organized, but never stark. Tables were decorated by an organized container of sweeteners (including sugar advertising a coffee from nowhere other than Austria) and a single fresh rose in an elegant vase. It came as no surprise, then, to read that the owner's wife is from Argentina. I can definitely see the Latin undertones in the place, but there is a decidedly European twist in everything from the menu to the decor. I seated myself and was quickly greeted by a courteous server. After ordering a drink, I asked a question about the menu to help me decide on my brunch. While I waited for my food, she kept my water glass filled and offered me a complimentary lemon scone. The scone was authentic in that it was small (about 2" diameter), and you could taste that it was made fresh in house. It was the perfect thing to whet my appetite for the Spinach Florentine omelet, which was filled with salty feta and fresh spinach, all topped off with a side of homemade salsa and some crusty bread. I was in heaven! I spent my time alternating between reading a book and people-watching. You can tell that this place is a local hangout, as many of the patrons greeted waitstaff by their names, and also went by to say hello to friends and other patrons on their way into and out of the restaurant. It added to the overall inviting vibe of the place, and made me want to come back and introduce friends to my awesome new restaurant find. If you're considering going, please stop considering and make time to check this place out for yourself. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Went there for lunch the other day and found it to be awful, mostly on the service side. Brought all of our food out at once when we told her what we wanted to start with and then have as our main course. Didn't apologize. The owner/manager said he would "keep our food warm" while we finished our first course. Then they brought the rest of our food and it was room temperature. Beautiful place, terrible service.

Good turkey pannini and I liked that it came with a mixed green salad (baby greens, not iceburg). The latte I had was pretty awful. Boiling hot and the shots were bitter. The decor was pretty stark but the people were friendly.
