Coming here strictly as a 2nd choice, I think this place will move to a 1st choice position. We came here because Rocky's didn't have any air conditioning. The air is ice cold and great at this place. We ordered the Mama special and it was piled high with ingredients. Lindsay was our server and she made us feel right at home. Call this place a home run!

The place smelled of alcohol when I walked in and the tables were not clean. Ordered the lasagna. It was borderline awful. . .they had all the ingredients but the flavor reminded me of something out of a box. Place is full of fruit flies which harassed me the entire time. I won't return!

Want a quick lunch!?! Bearnos isn't too bad. For average above fast food pizza, it is decent. Bearnos offers a lunch buffet for $9 that includes a salad bar, pizza bar, and selected entrée. If you wanna gorge for cheap, then this is the place.

As a "lunch only option", I'd give them 4 stars, as the crowd is light enough to keep everyone happy. But overall, it only gets 3 stars because of the flat out mediocre pizza. My buddy and I usually hit up their lunch buffet twice a month since its conveniently located by our workplace. Ends up costing around 10 bucks with a drink, but the crowd is light so the cooks are able to keep the buffet well stocked so that you can vet your moneys worth in food. If you happen to come during a uofl game night, good luck! Since its right by YUM it gets packed quick and the wait is FOREVER! As far as the pizza goes, its not anything that you couldn't make yourself at home in your own oven. The flavor is lacking and the toppings are blah. They call it " Louisville Style Pizza", which I consider a slap in the face to the city. We have lots of other pizzerias that could wear that name with a lot more pride.

I always eat here when I'm in downtown Louisville. The atmosphere, food and service is great!! Their pizza, wings, garlic bread, and various sandwiches are delicious. I especially like the Italian wings.

How many ways can one place mess up an order? Everyone around us received their orders, and after two hours... nothing. This restaurant seems to be a nightmare. Five people have come up to us to apologize, and we still have neither food nor check (which we have repeatedly requested). Avoid avoid avoid this place.

Bearno's has become a once a week go to lunch wise for my buddy and myself. Their pizza buffet and salad bar is typically our choice. They have a pretty good selection of pizzas to choose from, sausage, pepperoni, a veggie, a supreme, a Hawaiian style and a few others. The salad bar has the standard options such as onions, cucumber, tomato ,croutons, cheese and a good selection of dressings. In addition to this they have garlic sticks, cinnamon sticks, and pasta options as well. If you do not want the buffet they have a full menu of pizzas, pasta salads and wings This place however is not exactly consistent sometimes the place is crazy packed, others it's empty. Sometimes it also feels like they are forced to put quantity over quality. Overall though this is a good spot to grab some lunch watch some sports and get away for a while.

Finally tried this location before the red and white scrimmage and was soo looking forward to it. The location is perfect and the atmosphere is cool. But that's where the positives stopped. They had a limited menu because of an event-- bogus but I understand why businesses have to do that. The buffet looked horrible-- old, greasy pizza and dried up pasta. Not to mention it needed cleaned off as well. So we steered away from that and got cheesesticks and pizza-- definitely not as good as the Bardstown Rd or Jeff River location (not even touching the Jeff location). The service was ok but kind of slow. May come back but not exactly planning on it.

My daughter and I went to this location the other day before Kings of Leon because it was the only one on the strip with an open table. We sat right away and for as crowded as they were I thought the speed of the service was very reasonable. The waitress wasn't super personable, but I can't imagine the stress they endure during concerts and games. We've been there several times before Lady cards games and the service is always consistent and speedy.

Disappointing to say the least. I ordered the Mama Bearno's pizza and had this delivered. Delivery was timely and phone service was friendly. However, that is where my complimentary review must end. The dish was an onslaught of salty toppings. The sauce was scarce and the crust was too thin relative to the toppings. Without exaggeration, the crust tasted like cardboard. Would recommend any store-bought frozen pizza over this pizza.

The atmosphere is great, and would make for a nice 'hangout'. Looks like they also have some sort of lunch buffet. Prices seem reasonable. However, most of what I tend to judge a place on is their food and what I've experienced here so far was ... meh. I know some don't believe in reviews of less than 3 stars, but I don't think that is fair to anyone. The food here was 'okay'. I tried the Lasagna. Far to much cheese (which I didn't think was possible on Lasagna), the noodles heated to much, the cheese somehow not heated enough. Nothing amazing or even memerable about the seasoning or preparation. I was so hoping this would be my 'lunch time inexpensive Italian getaway."

Nice place. Nothing fancy, but they do have some great pizza and beers on tap. I had the bourbon ale along with a large veggie pizza. It was big enough for 10 people the way they cut the pie into squares. Service was very good.

Decent pizza but terrible service. Servers were rude and didn't acknowledge us for about 15 minutes then took forever to get drinks and refills. Probably won't go back because the service was so bad.

After my grandfather's wake, this was one of the only places open near the Courtyard Marriot that still had seats available. It was....well...it was okay. The service was solid, but the food was mediocre at best. We got a mix of meals and the family salad, but nothing really stood out as a fantastic or really even worthwhile returning for next time. The spaghetti was okay, the salad was iceberg, and the only real upside to the ordeal was the fact that either they didn't notice or ignored us spiking our drinks from a flask. Oh, and that we happened to be there at the same time the masquerade ball was being held by the Va Va Vixens next door. Probably should have gotten the pizza since that seems to be what everyone has raved about, but....eh....this might fly in Louisville, but they'd be out of business faster than Bernie Madoff in the Cleveland-Akron area (and probably chased out of town by the residents of Little Italy).

Ordered spaghetti from the online menu - waited about 10 minutes and walked over for carry out - they had not noticed my order- so had to wait extra. Spaghetti was sparce and mediocre - got tiny sausage bits (which I'm assuming are for pizzas) and not the LINK I paid for.. meatballs very tiny, dry and had no favor. Their lunch buffet is ok - but this was a very bad experience. Wish I'd spent my 10 bucks at White Castle instead.

My first time to a Bearno's, it was okay. The location is cool, the inside is pretty dark, but nothing to really complain about. The beer wasn't ice cold, but they had a good selection. The cheese garlic bread was tasty, the pizza tasted good, but nothing really special. I'd definitely eat it again, but wouldn't seek it out anytime soon. Sicilian is still currently my local pizza place of choice and the place to beat!

They automatically get one star for staying open late. We arrived at our hotel at 10PM on a weekday and were starving after driving for six hours. There was nothing near the hotel so we had to walk a couple of blocks to Main Street, which we were told had many eateries. Nothing seemed to be open that was kid appropriate so we came here, which was the first kid appropriate eatery we came across. We decided on one super large Bearno's specialty pizza which had just about everything you can think of: Italian sausage, pepperoni, black and green olives, bell peppers, onions, mushroom, and cheese. The toppings were piled high which almost made it look like a pizza pie! A bit on the salty side because there was just too many Italian sausages (a plus for meat lovers out there). Between the five of us, we barely finished half of our pizza. We also ordered garlic cheesy bread and baked wings, which were so scrumptious. The cheese bread was so cheesy. For an extra charge, they have fat-free cheese as an alternative. The wings were baked so we didn't feel too guilty devouring our side dish. Very flavorful and juicy. Service was great. Four stars!

Not very good. Had the Mama special. It's supposed to be their most popular, and maybe I just like pizza too much, but I'd rather have Louisville's much more famous chain pizza joint (Papa John's) than this stuff. And I don't even like Papa John's. The pizza was a bit cold, the toppings were less fresh, etc. Service was also slow. Extremely slow. I think we waited about 20 minutes between each drink refill, then 20 minutes more to get our bill (after asking). Good thing I had good company to help me pass the time. To boot, the restaurant wasn't even busy.

My favorite pizza place in Louisville. I have had bad experiences at the other Bearno's, but this location always comes thru for me. I love Bearno's approach to pizza, and find theirs to be one of the most distinctive pies in the country ( I outta know as I travel coast-to-coast and live to try new pie) and certainly the most toppings I have ever seen. I usually get the Mama Bearno's Special or the All Meats Special. It's an amazing amount of toppings on pizza. Be prepared to get a box for leftovers. These fill you up quick. The pizza is a bit pricey, but all those toppings add up! The location is very cool, and directly across the street from the YUM! center, so it's a good spot to eat before a game or event. The bar itself is tastefully decorated (you better like wood though). I look forward to eating here every time I come to Louisville.

Ordered delivery on a Thursday at 10pm was quoted a hour. It finally showed up after a hour and a half and a phone call later. Not even close to worth the wait. Over priced card board with no pizza sauce! It's almost $2 for each topping. There are way too many pizza options in louisville to go here! A frozen pizza would have been better and much cheaper. This place is a rip off.

The pizza from here is really good but it's also fairly expensive. We had delivery of a large all meat pizza & they actually got here quicker than their time estimate. It was tasty & we had a third of it left for next day.

The pizza crust is what I disliked the most. The crust was dry and actually tasted remarkably like saltine crackers. The sauces and topping were actually good, but the terrible crust ruined it for me. The crust problems apply to the breadsticks as well.

We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza. It was actually really good... with plenty of cheese and huge chunks of chicken. It is a bit pricey though. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. The menu and buffet mainly have items with pork, which I do not eat; but that's a problem all over the South.

There are definite reasons to eat here. They include: The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. No wait for a table in the middle of lunch rush. Love this location in the middle of downtown. Good price for the lunch buffet. And let me say that again: lunch buffet. So plenty of options. But -- big but -- the pizza is kind of meh. Maybe it's because Louisvillians are spoiled with pizza options, but better pizza is out there. Still, for lunch, I will be back because of all the pros listed.

We had ours delivered during a big snow to the hotel. Food was "hot" and delivered in a timely manner (considering the circumstances). Delivery guy was very professional and courteous. Parents had the Hawain pizza with mushrooms. Delicious. Mushrooms were actually fresh instead of canned. I had the lasagna, it was good. Wife had the peporonni pizza, but she was too full from sharing my lasagna and parents pizza! Portions are large. They do not have thin crust, but their hand tossed crust was well received by the group. We also got the garlic bread which is flat like a pizza. Cut into strips, well seasoned. Definitely recommend.

Food is good, beer selection is excellent. Unfortunately, every food establishment in Louisville suffers from the same lack of customer care. Too many customers and not nearly enough servers. One girl tending bar and serving all food. Disaster waiting to happen. She's overworked, and there are too many people here to wait on all of them. Food was very good, beer was excellent, but the service was so incredibly slow.

Best meat pizza I've ever had. Add green olives for a nice twist. I got the small size and could only eat half. Nice thin crust but about 3/4" of meat and toppings. Just the right amount of sauce - not dry and not drowned. Super friendly and attentive staff. Had a drink spill that damaged a pizza; wasn't their fault and they just made a new one for us anyway. Another person in our party had the lasagna. He thought it "nice and cheesy and meaty". Large portion - all gone! The left side as you enter is more bar and some seating. If you want more seating and less bar, ask for the right side. Nice that they accommodate different needs.

I try to order pizza in each city when I travel for business. Let me say this one was delicious!!!! Plenty of quality toppings, made to order lasagna, and door to door delivery to my hotel room (big deal for hotel guests like me), and it was HOT. I was a customer at Bearno's by the Bridge on 02/17/2014 and received HORRIBLE service. I called and placed an order @11:40 am, I ordered (1) small pizza with sausage, mushroom, onion and extra cheese. I was told at the end of the call that it would be ready 15-20 minutes, I work one block over and I arrived for my order @ 12. I immediately was asked to pay for my food and the waitress walked away, 10 minutes later I still have no pizza, so I asked someone to check on it. At this point I was advised (per the gentleman in the kitchen) that they received an order for 15 large pizzas and were instructed to get them out first. My question which was never answered, is if you had an order that big why tell me 15 minutes, the waitress hinted that that the order came in after mine but I never got a clear answer. What I do know if she went back there "put it in the oven herself," which was a little unsettling considering I seen her in the kitchen reach over the window answer the phone and go back to touching things in the kitchen without washing her hands. At this point I am at 20 minutes waiting for my order. In the mean time I had to always ask someone to check on my food, no one volunteered to check on it unless I asked. I asked if there was a phone number I could call, since I was advised manager was not there and that is when I was told "I think there is a complaint line, but I don't know" and was given a business card with the owner/manager email address on it. Finally at 12:35 I was handed my pizza by the waitress over the kitchen window (I had to get on stage to get). Needless to say my whole lunch plus some was spent in the restaurant waiting for my food, and I am not a happy customer paying 16.06 for a small pizza and then had to wait over 35 minutes past the original promised time to get it. There was no communication obviously between the kitchen and the front of house and no one seemed to be in charge. This is upsetting considering there are other pizza places within the area that will deliver or have our order ready when promised. I hope that this issue is addressed, I do like Bearnos, unfortunately unless something changes we will not be back. I emailed the owner/manager on 02/17 as of 03/05 I have heard nothing, such a disappointment.

Stopped in here on our way to Florida. WIfe and I + 3 kids. Not much happening downtown, but the food was good and service was comparable. We had a familiy sald, barbeque pizza - kids had spaghetti and a ham sandwich. All was well prepared and tasty. Probably a perfect spot before or after events with friends at the Yum Center.

This review only applies for DELIVERY. So in a loss for thought after the third day of this convention I wanted pizza and room service was not going to help this craving any so I took to the front desk and demanded the name of a good pizza place. They gave me a choice between here and Pizza Hut (Bearno's a better pick). They did deliver on a Friday night at 1:00am which impressed me greatly. It did however take them 90 minutes for a pizza to arrive around the corner but they did give us proper warning in advance. The pizza has that multi slice cut which makes you have tons of little thin pieces that come out in square form in the middle instead of traditional pizza slices. The pizza looked like we ordered it with triple cheese and light sauce (which we didn't) and had non peperoni to speak on it. It was a very average pizza taste wise but if I was back in Kentucky I would swing another visit.

Was staying at the hotel down the street and was in the mood for pizza. Was completely confused when we walked in because it does not present itself as a pizza establishment. Turns out place was beautiful inside with a great selection of beer on tap from local breweries. Manager had a passion for good local beers and took pride in the beers available. We decided to eat our pizza there instead of taking it to go. Had great conversation and some good local beer. Swing by and check place out. Definitely not a pizza shop with someone throwing dough in the air behind the counter.

Pizza and Beer... what else do you need? Good selection of local beers on tap. Sometimes the crust doesn't stand up to the pizzas with a lot of toppings (Veggie and Mama Bearno's). Fun for a group or if you're looking to avoid 4th Street Live.

I've been re-trying some of the downtown delivery hot spots this week in the hopes that at least one of them would redeem themselves and become my new "go to" place. Bad news, Bearnos isn't going to be the place. I placed an order tonight for a chicken parmesan sub, fries, and a slice of Kentucky silk pie. The delivery service took an hour to travel five blocks. The fries were frozen crinkle fries that had been tossed into a fryer and cooked to a decent temp. Okay but not worthy of much comment. The sub was a (clearly premade frozen) breaded chicken patty with cheese and marinara sauce on a hoggie bun. The spicy flavors in the (probably) frozen chicken breading overwhelmed the entire sandwich and destroyed the flavor profile of the marinara or cheese. Additionally, the bread in the hoggie roll and the chicken breading soaked up the marinara leaving the sandwich feeling very dry. However, the Kentucky silk pie was surprisingly tasty. Not being originally from Kentucky, I cannot speak to whether it is an authentic Kentucky silk pie, but it resembled a wipped chocolate mousse on a sticky graham cracker crust. I pride myself on being able to stand up to the richest of sweets but this was rich enough to nearly take down my sweet tooth. Still, while I may stop in for a slice of pie, I can't justify ordering $15 of subpar food (the delivery minimum) in order to justify that $3.99 slice of goodness.

Before moving to Louisville, I was familiar with the Bearno's that used to exist in Lexington near UK's campus. This location was legendary with my friends and I due to an all-you-can-eat buffet offered once a week. That location has long since closed and I probably hadn't been to a Bearno's in four years. Needless to say my nostalgia probably clouded my memory and built Bearno's up a little more than was deserved. This location right next to the Yum! center is certainly convenient, but really I got a pretty eh feeling once I was inside. It's just not a terribly exciting place and the food kinda matches the atmosphere. The pizza is certainly not bad, but really, there are too many better downtown pizza joints in the 'Ville (see Sicilian review). I also tried the cheese garlic bread, which I probably liked better than the pizza. Beer selection is decent with a few local offerings, but nothing to write home about. When downtown and in the mood for pizza, go to Sicilian. If you want to grab a bite before an event at the Yum! center, stop in at Doc Crowe's or even Sol Azteca's. I think these places offer better value and a better overall pre-game experience.

The Pizza was decent. And I was looking out for the elusive "Louisville-style" Pizza, which appears just to be double-decker of toppings. Not really a family establishment, which was a shame. Also, I had high hopes for a buffet, since the sign was still up on the sidewalk. Apparently not. The service was iffy, too. Decent little pie, but I won't say much else.

What can I say? Bearno's by the Bridge is a fun, non-assuming corner restaurant/bar that is perfect for a relaxed and casual night out. The plain breadsticks are to die for and they have a very eclectic beer selection, which trumps the mediocre pizza by far. The location is nice and convenient as well--right over the bridge and across the street from the Yum! Center. The restaurant and bar are separate, but the bar has plenty of spacious booths that can fit about 6-8 people. The food/drinks are fairly inexpensive and the service is always speedy and friendly. This Bearno's location always has good live music on Friday and Saturdays, and late at night when you least expect it, a dance party may randomly break out depending on the tunes. If you want a night out downtown but want to avoid blinding yourself from the sequined dresses of 4th Street, this is a great location to start and/or end your night.

Monday night in Louisville. Not much happening. I know what I'll do. I'll go watch Monday night football and have some pizza and beer. Well, the game was completely f^#*& up (it was the infamous Green Bay/Seattle replacement refs fiasco) and I was completely underwhelmed by this place. I don't know what passes for good pizza in Louisville, different cities have different standards, but this was a little short of mediocre to me. The service was lacking, too. All in all, I was disappointed.

Bearno's Little Sicily has thirteen locations in the Louisville area and one in Florida. I dined at one in downtown Louisville not far from the Yum! Center, which I felt had to be a good omen. I was immediately proven right as soon as I noticed the sign outside of Bearno's stating that their pizza and salad buffet with a drink is only $7.99. I felt even further vindicated as soon as I took my first bite of Bearno's pizza from the buffet. Everything was good, but my favorite part was definitely the cheese. I believe it was just mozzarella cheese, but it was a very rich and flavorful mozzarella cheese. Given my liking of their cheese, it should be no surprise that I enjoyed their cheese bread, but I want to note that it also had some really tasty seasoning besides the delicious cheese. I am told that Bearno's typically puts even more toppings and cheese on their pizza when it is ordered individually as opposed to on the buffet, and they have a whole other dine in section of the restaurant that has booths and bar that is not by the buffet. I typically see that good pizza buffets are hard to find, and Bearno's is one of the best I have had.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. My children's food did not come out, ever after the adults' food had been served. We waited a good 15 to 20 minutes, and even after we asked for the food, it still took the kitchen another ten minutes. All we wanted was their food and all we got were excuses. We had to ask two additional times before the food came. By that point, the children were bouncing off the walls with hunger so we left. The only redeeming part of the meal was that we weren't charged for anyone's meal, but given the terrible service, it really was the least they could do.

Great local place for pizza and beers. We were in town for Derby and decided to wander downtown for some drinks and food. Saw a recommendation for this place under "talk" so decided to try it. Beer selection was great, which is saying a lot as we're from the beer mecca of the NW. Bartender and server were very friendly. Pizza was great. Thin medium soft crust, square cut, and piled high with toppings.

If you have an option (which I didn't since it was late at night) do not go here. They sat my party in a section by ourselves. It was dark since there were no lights and it was freezing. We ate with winter coats on. Table was dirty. Service was awful with a capital "A". Too many options in the city. I didn't know that at the time. Food was mediocre at best. This is only one of a very few places I cannot recommend. In all fairness, the pizza was ok. I'm not used to their style of crust, but it was good. Awful beer selection for a bar.

Their cheese sticks are divine. PERIOD. They always have live entertainment on the weekends which is a great low key thing to do downtown if you're stuck there for a business conference and you don't want to go the 4th Street Live or City Block rout. They have really reasonable prices and it's one of the best places for a family to eat downtown. Their crust is just thin enough with a good sauce to cheese ratio. They currently have a Mama Mia pizza special to go along with the Kentucky Performing Arts Center's Mama Mia! dates... it's very meaty so I haven't tried it but it's a cute promotional idea. They usually keep discount coupons and special offer flyers at the Visitor's Center and at most hotel concierges, just a tip!

this is one of the top 3 pizzas i have ever had in my life! no seriously it is THAT good. the waitress was the nicest person i met all week on vacation. and great beer, falls city beer. if i lived there i would go every week.

The pizza was fine, which is about as good as it gets for pies in Louisville (would someone please open one with a wood-fired oven?). The server was really nice though and it had an extensive beer list.

Stayed at Galt House and walked over to grab a pie for lunch. Coupon at the concierge desk was a bonus! and the pizza was excellent thin crust with a solid amount of toppings (mama bearno's combo). Service friendly and fast and the walk was very easy in the middle of the day.

This Bearno's location is actually in Jeffersonville, IN, but is just across the river from Louisville. It's a nice walk along the river from several hotels in the area. The atmosphere was that of a sports bar, which was okay with us. They are open until 1 on the weekdays and evidently serve food that late, as we were there at almost 10:00 pm. after having just driven in. The prices were very good, especially compared to the surrounding choices. The service was not good, however, there was only one guy waiting tables and tending bar. We were the only ones eating, and there were less than 6 people at the bar. My husband had a good sandwich called the Gondola and my son enjoyed his spaghetti and meatballs. The sliders I ordered, though, were not edible. The menu stated that they came with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard and catsup on the side. After waiting a good 15 minutes to get the waiter's attention, I finally asked about said side items. He told me I was supposed to have asked for them when I ordered, which is NOT what the menu stated at all. (I double-checked as we left.) He wasn't rude and he did bring me lettuce, tomato and mayo . By then the burgers were pretty cold. Not that it mattered. They were so overdone it was almost like eating jerkey burgers. I used all the side items to increase palatability and still didn't finish all four. I got tired of chewing the dry meat and dried out buns. The fries were very good, though. Moral of the story, don't order burgers in a pizza joint.
