My brother- and sister-in-law are members at this club as my SIL is an alumni of UK. This, of course, works to my advantage :) Spindletop is a very nice, small country club. There are three pools (a general swimming pool with 2 or 3 lap lanes; a deeper pool with diving boards; and a children's wading pool), tennis courts, walking trails, an outdoor dining area (great for when you're there swimming) and, of course, the huge mansion with tons of rooms/lounge areas. The mansion itself has a fantastic dining space and there are many events throughout the year. Every Sunday there is a brunch, but you can also visit any time to enjoy lunch (not sure about the other meals as we have only had lunch and brunch there). I can't speak to the cost of membership as I am not a member, but Spindletop does seem very accommodating to members' guests which is super nice. I'm giving them four stars because the last several meals we have had in the dining space were good, but they weren't 5 star wow. I had salmon the first time and it was just okay. The second time, more recently, we had brunch and I was really disappointed that there was not a chicken dish on the buffet - the only meat options were tuna steak and beef at a carving station. Chicken or pork would have been a nice addition as not everyone likes seafood or can eat red meat. The side dishes were all really great - with the exception of the broccoli rabe mish-mash which tasted acidic - and the salad buffet was also delicious (and presented beautifully). There was a small dessert buffet with a great variety of dessert options, including a chocolate fountain. Overall, I think Spindletop is mostly a great experience and not necessarily a fine dining hot spot. My SIL is throwing me a baby shower there in a couple weeks and I will update my review if I notice anything else and to comment on how they do entertaining wise.
