I'm not big fan of the Chinese buffet so this little take out place got my eye! It's small and very cute! It's smaller than golden wok but the seats are more comfy here. It did seem like it took while to get our order. We ordered A dinner combo garlic chicken it comes with rice than soup salad or egg roll. You get a choice of chicken or pork fried rice or white rice. My mom and I requested brown but it is not on menu but it very tasty and fresh! Most take out Chinese places I have been to there is not a choice of chicken and pork fried rice offered it's usually just pork. The garlic sauce for garlic chicken had little spice to it but when I asked the cashier he said it wasn't spicy. It was a good sauce but if I wasn't in mood for spicy I would not like it. I would say the spice range would be a six on range one to ten. There was a variety of veggies in the garlic chicken : baby corn, green pepper, onions, carrots but they were skimpy on the chicken. We also order cashew chicken which was pretty good but they were also skimpy on the chicken. We each got wonton soup with our meal. It wasn't very hot and it was more bland than the last time I had it. We shared the steamed dumplings they were pretty good. The combo meal is enough to split or eat for two meals which pretty good considering it's about 8.50. I will come again and I would get the garlic chicken but also like try other dishes. But because there was long wait for our food soup was not real hot , not enough chicken in the dishes and the garlic chicken said not to be spicy I am giving the shangi Bristo three stars

Actually eating the take out pepper steak right now. Fairly small, but have eaten sit down there several times. Fast service and always friendly. The dine in portions are quite large and I always struggle to finish them. I've eaten several dishes and no complaints about anything. I like that they do have pickup and delivery and that you can place an order online.

I really like the style this place is going for. The simple Chinese place. The service here was really good. I like the whole free refills out fountain drinks. The price isn't bad for what you get. My biggest down fall was 1) they bring out the soup and not even as I take the first slurp of my soup the lady comes out with my food. Well I was like okay I guess they are quick at making the food. Well this is were 2) comes in. Are finishing my soup I take a bite into my chicken and it was just warm. Like that kind of warm were it's been sitting under a heating lamp for hours. Was not happy after that. Not a place I would come back too.

For fresh, reasonably priced Chinese there is no better place. Items we have enjoyed include General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, Orange Beef, and the Hot and Sour Soup! Their egg rolls are also tasty and we often upgrade the white rice to fried rice or Lo Mein with Brown Sauce. The only menu item we have been disappointed in was the Bourbon Chicken which we found hard and dry (probably overcooked) and lacking sauce. Other than that one dish everything has been delicious and we highly recommend this restaurant.

Last night was my first take-out experience. We ordered the pork fried rice, shrimp lo mein and mongolian beef. Here were the results: Pork fried rice - It was okay. It had the same taste and consistency as your typical fried rice from a fast food chinese restaurant. GRADE: B Shrimp lo mein - The noodles were excessively greasy. There were large, breaded shrimp but the greasiness of the dish was off putting. The shrimp didnt taste fresh as it had a bit of a fishy flavor. GRADE: D Mongolian beef - A disaster. I'm not one to exaggerate but this dish was maybe 5% beef and 95% onions. I had to use two forks to search whatever small pieces of beef (I could fit them all in a shot glass) which was scattered in a sea of onions. An utter ripoff. GRADE: F I should have inspected the order before leaving but who really opens up all the containers prior to leaving? I strongly recommend steering clear of this place.

I got a to go order of soup and steamed wontons. Paid and tipped over 20% for a take out, then imagine my dismay to discover my order was not prepped. No spoon, no napkins and if I hadn't of asked again for the chopsticks, I'd be eating with my fingers. On to food: wontons had a good flavor but we're on the doughy side. Soup was good but could have been more sour. Little chips that go with soup were stale.

Stopped in for lunch with my mom today. I didn't realize this little place was here. It's a small little restaurant maybe holds 30-40 people for dine in. The decor is nice and the lady at the counter was nice and very friendly. Lunch specials are 6.25 for dish steamed or fried rice and choice of salad/soup/egg roll. The portions ere good sized. The rice was cooked perfectly and everything tasted fresh. Will definitely be stopping back in sometime.

So we ordered our food at around 630 and chose for delivery. We waited and we waited. We waited until around an hour had passed, we called to see if maybe the driver had gotten lost in our neighborhood. The person on the other end said it takes about 45 mins for delivery, so we said ah ok must be running behind. We waited another 30 mins, and still nothing so we called again. This time they said that the delivery guy is outside and our food is there, we asked what the heck that meant. The person on the other end said they would check and call us back. So we waited another 20 mins, by this time my wife went out and got alternate dinner for us since we were never getting out food. After about 10 more minutes the driver called and asked if we were in the circle he was outside of, we informed him that we would not be paying for food that we ordered 1:50 mins ago. What is even worse is that I am afraid that the food had been sitting for a good portion of this whole ordeal and would not eat this at all in good conscious. We could have driven to them 5 times before we even knew our food hadn't left their location.

Great little lunch spot. Always fresh veggies, and flavorful sauces. I've had their Kung Pao, Honey Mustard, Bourbon, and garlic chicken - never been disappointed. The calamari app is light, crispy, and tender with 2 tasty dipping sauces. Overall it's pretty typical Americanized Chinese food. Good for a lighter, veggie filled lunch when you just can't eat another burger:)

Let's start with some positives. Friendly staff. Nice size portions. Decor was better than most. I got the Garlic Chicken, which was not smothered in sauce, just coated the way it should be. Lots of veggies, but dominated by large florets of broccoli. The veggies seemed fresh. My wife got the Pahd Thai, which was a mistake - wrong sauce, no tamarind, no sprouts. Not the worst, but not Thai either. My g-daughter got Beef Lo Mein. She ate it all and said it was good. The steamed dumplings were below expectations. They weren't bad, they just weren't as good as even Noodles and Company's. The dough was thick, and they were served without any garnish. The sauce was pretty much straight soy, but it did have some chopped onions. Bill for dinner portions = $40.17. Let's end with a positive: it's the best Chinese I've had in Lexington. I'd have given it a 3.5 if I could. It's close to my house, so I'll probably try it again.

I have frequented this restaurant and the quality of their food is consistently superior to most Chinese fast food. Their steamed pot stickers are good enough without their excellent and unique soy/ginger/chili oil sauce concoction. The vegetables are always fresh and cooked properly to retain good flavor and texture. The meat portions are generous and satisfying. But you can always judge a Chinese restaurant by the egg rolls. Theirs appear to be made in-house and are flavorful and don't have a freezer-burn taste. They also deliver if you so desire.

This restaurant is the best! The owners are the most fun people, if you get a chance you should eat here. The food is exceptional and service is great! Its a very clean restaurant too! Great Job!

This isn't the best place for Chinese food. We tried the vegetable lo mein and sesame chicken. The thickness of the sauce on the sesame chicken was a bit to gelatinous and I found myself trying to scrape it off. It gets 2 stars since the food was hot, but unfortunately we will have to pursue other options when a Chinese food craving hits us.

A good, non-cheap-buffet-style Chinese place, what?? I'm so glad I found this place, because each time I've eaten there, it's been great. I tried their pad thai just a couple days ago, and I think I actually preferred it to Mai Thai's pad thai. I was definitely surprised to prefer the pad thai at a Chinese place over that at a Thai place. I've also tried some basil-y chicken dish with lots of vegetables, which was good. They have decent fresh sweet tea, too--another surprise for a Chinese place.

Shanghai Bistro is located in a new strip mall on Sir Barton. The decor is very, very cute. A lot more personality than a typical chinese take-out restaurant. I wasn't very hungry, so I just ordered egg rolls and Hot and Sour soup. The soup was very traditional and just what I was looking for. Egg rolls were pretty standard. They seemed to be doing a pretty brisk take-out business, but with the pleasant atmosphere, I wouldn't mind eating in the restaurant. There were some customers working on their laptops, so I'm guessing that they have wifi. The menu is very traditional chinese, with a few different specialties like Pad Thai.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
