If you're looking for some authentic Italian food, look no further. This place has been in business for over 30 years so you know they've been doing something right and I'm here to tell you, so far from what I can tell, it's everything! If you like wine, there's a large selection to choose from in both reds and whites, and depending on the day you go there may be a special per glass or by the bottle. Each pasta entree comes with your choice of a soup or salad. If you get the house salad, I recommend the homemade Italian dressing - it's fantastic. You'll also get a basket of fresh baked rolls. The pasta plates are huge and delicious. I've had the Alfredo (shrimp and also the crab), and have also tried the spaghetti with meatballs. You will definitely not leave here hungry. If you do have room for dessert, the cheesecake is amazing here as well as the tiramisu. I almost dare you to find something that is unappetizing; I bet it cannot be done. Go - take the family - and enjoy a hearty, filling dinner. You won't regret it.

The atmosphere was as depressing as my meal - bland and oily. There is no reason to return.

30 years! Oh my! What stays open for 30 years? A place with excellent food stays open for 30 years. This place is owner/chef proud. It's amazing. We both ordered the Sampler. Which is the best way to start if you've never been here. We enjoyed everything. The lasagna was amazing. A balance between heavy and delicate. While it stood alone it was still creamy, perfectly melded among the flavors. Rolls are warm, browned and crusty with fluffy centers. Deserts are delicious, "that cheesecake might be a top life cheesecake experience" my boyfriend said. That man loves his cheesecake too. My tiramisu was also a top 5 experience.

This place is so good!!!! From the fresh baked rolls EVERY TIME to the homemade salad dressings. I haven't even had my entree yet but I already know it will be amazing! Our server Adam was hilarious and made the experience fun! You HAVE to try it! I would post pics but I already ate it!

Can't comment on food....waited 5 mins to be acknowledged when we walked in only to be told they had no tables...not even there would be wait if you would like to wait in the bar. Half the dining room was totally empty. Will not even try again.

My husband, son, and I ate here after purchasing a Groupon and it was a big disappointment. The atmosphere reminded me of the dining areas in assisted living facilities that my grandparents used to live in: tons of fake plants, mismatched plastic dishes, wheeling chairs, old and worn tables, etc. I'd read previous reviews that service was slow, so we arrived early (about 5:30) hoping to beat the crowd. We were one of three tables (two people at each table), and it took about 20 minutes to receive our food once the order was placed. I didn't feel that was terribly long to wait, but wanted to give some context. The food taste ranged from bad to mediocre. The salad I ordered with my meal was just lettuce and shredded carrot. The rolls were supermarket-like and one of the two was burned. Also, they only give you one roll per person at the table and did not bring one for my son (who is a toddler), which seemed weird to me, particularly when many Italian restaurants provide a constant supply of fresh bread. My husband ordered the meat and pasta plate (that's what it's called) and it wasn't bad. The sausage was the best part. I ordered a chicken dish with garlic sauce and rosemary olive oil tossed with penne and rosemary (that clearly wasn't fresh) was all I could taste. Their prices are MUCH too high. We ordered nothing but entrees and pre-Groupon, it was $30. Also, the prices are about $2 higher per dish than what is on their online menu. It is extremely rare for me to chose a chain restaurant over a local one, but I would absolutely eat at Olive Garden over Noodles & Company rather than Paisano's. I will never be back.

Well I hate the negative reviews that I'm reading about this restaurant. We've been here several times and have never had a bad experience. It's cute, out of the way and authentic feeling.

It's one of those places you find something good and go back for the same thing every time. Wife and I are vegetarian; we found a great dish in their Pasta Primavera with their special Parma-rosa (combination of Marinara & Alfredo) sauce instead of the regular marinara. I also love their creamy Italian dressing on the side salad (yes I know it's just lettuce & carrots... but have you tasted that dressing?) and my wife loves their starter minestrone soup. Tiramisu and coffee are pretty good too. We tried their veggie lasagna once... we haven't ordered it again. The banana peppers appetizer is more of an acquired taste. It feels like a cozy family owned restaurant. If you're looking for a place with excellent decor and picture perfect plates, well be their customer and provide feedback + encouragement and hope for the best

I love the lasagna, best in town and at a good price. I have been going there forever and it's always good. Could they use an update? Sure, but the food is where it is at. Old school and good!

The food is expensive and tastes like it came out of a World War II emergency shelter. They even made veal tough to chew, which is impressive. The service is horrible and the atmosphere is stale. I wouldn't bother stepping foot in the place.

I stumbled upon this restaurant while driving around looking for a new place to eat near Nicholasville Road. I had originally planned to stop at the Thai place next to it, as I didn't notice Paisano's until I parked (not seen from the main road) Upon walking in, it reminded me of my childhood. Small, intimate decor, a large Italian family in the corner being loud, I loved it from the beginning. Our server was a nice young man, whose parents were at the next table, so he was noticeably frazzled, and perhaps new. He did his job well, just citing there were a lot of tables to pick up, so he apologized if he was a little slow getting to us. (Honesty was the best policy here, and saved him a lost star) I had the Chicken Parm, which can make or break a good Italian joint, and it was divine. The chicken breast must have been from the Dolly Parton of chickens, as it was massive and delicious. The menu WAS a little bit over priced, the only reason they didn't get 5 stars, for the location and the size of the establishment (and the fact they've been there since the 80's) they should comparatively price the menu. My girlfriend made the point, that not a single person in the ENTIRE PLACE had a frown or upset look on their faces, every person in the restaurant (which I could easily see based upon our balcony-like seating arrangement, was smiling and having a great time. Something you can't say you see at every restaurant for sure. Overall I would say try it out if you're sick of the other "Family" Italian restaurants, I'll go back for sure, what can I say... I'm a sucker for good Italian food, in a great Italian atmosphere.

That this place is still open is really beyond me. The family decor is deceptive, making you think its a hole in the wall, authentic Italian kitchen. The service was terrible. We saw our waitress a total of 3 times: order, brought food, check. I had to flag down a random waitress for a water refill. We ordered Calamari as an appetizer. It was 80% batter. The rings had to be no bigger than 4-5mm in diameter. For dinner I ordered a shrimp pasta dish that was a steep $17.95; for that price I had big expectations. It began with a salad which was probably 1/2 cup of lettuce to 1/4 cup of brown carrot shavings. Then came the pasta. It was a cup of penne AT BEST. It was completely overcooked and mushy. The lemon garlic sauce was actually just salt and butter. It was disgusting. I didn't eat it. I gave the dish back to the waitress informing her there was no way you could eat it. At the end when the bill came, although she didn't charge me for the dish she had the audacity to charge me $3.12 for the side salad. I was so shocked, I wasn't even prepared to fight. We walked out and will NEVER be back. Save yourself the time, money and an enjoyable dinner by not eating here.

Lexington's Best Kept Secret. For good reason! Hostess didn't speak English and literally grunted and pointed us to our table. Decor is dirty and outdated with fake plants and lattice all over the walls. Both servers had white shirts with large stains on the front. We were served a bottle of Asti with an obviously outdated label and wine that was brown. They did bring us a replacement but offered no apology or discount. Salads had maybe 1/8 cup of lettuce with the same amount of carrot shavings on it and a ramekin of dressing. The salad was maybe 5-7 bites. We each paid around $15 for about 6-8 bites of meat SWIMMING in sauce. Each meat was served with spaghetti with bland marinara sauce but that wasn't noted on the menu. Our server never checked on us. He got our drinks, brought our meals one at a time and then brought our checks. If he'd asked how the food was, we would probably have asked for meat and pasta with sauce on the side and I definitely would've gotten another glass of wine. The rolls were good. I used them to sop up my extra dressing and sauce.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
