It's a basic breakfast... but a very tasty basic breakfast. This isn't intended to be the fine dining because this is the back side of the track, the working a side of the track, and probably the best side of the track. The atmosphere and bustle you'll experience early in the morning during the spring or fall meet is what makes this place special, and you'll feel privileged to have been a part of it.

You don't go to the track kitchen just for the food, you go for the entire experience. There are few places in town where you can get an entire throw-down home cooked breakfast for this cheap all while eating breakfast next to jockeys, owners, and Keeneland staff. Go early in the morning and watch the horses workout on the track and then walk over for breakfast. Bacon, eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and bacon. In my opinion breakfast at the track kitchen is one of the top ten food experiences in Lexington.

Regretfully, after many breakfasts over the years at the Track Kitchen I must give the little place a negative review. The food has deteriorated -- or maybe it was never good, and it was just the backside atmosphere and the wonderful black and white photos of the great equines that grace the walls. This morning I had scrambled eggs with bacon, grits and a biscuit, all tasteless and cold. The eggs had been scrambled to death, and the grits were a thick, solid mass. Only the hot sauce made the food barely edible. Next time I find it necessary to eat there, I will stick with the BLT on whole wheat toast or the grilled ham and cheese, both made to order and better choices.

Breakfast with friends. Ala carte cafeteria style. Food doesn't have much flavor, but it's cheap, clean, and good hospitality. Not missing much if u don't stop by.

Nothing special. Just an old cafe. Only view is of an old water tower. Cafe is well away from track. Honest no reason to go here. Even McD's is a better choice.

Breakfast here was very reasonably priced and pretty good. I came here with a few friends and we all enjoyed our meal even though at first we had our doubts. It was cafeteria style. I had the scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits + gravy and grits. The grits were only ok, but i enjoyed the rest. My boyfriend really enjoyed his pancakes. It's a no frills kinda place, but if you're looking for a more affordable place I'd recommend it.

This is a great place for a cheap cheap cheap Southern breakfast. But hearty! It is cafeteria style. If you go out early enough, like 7 a.m., you can watch the horses working out on the track, then go over to the track kitchen and eat. Great place to take relatives/friends visiting from out of town. This is truly the track kitchen. Track workers eat there along with horse owners. The biscuits are awesome.
