Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We go here a lot because my father-in-law has been eating here for...decades...and he's a loyal guy. The thing is: yes, it can be bland, but it is also crazy cheap. If you know how to order. i.e, ask for the authentic salsa and ask the waiters what sauce they recommend yada yada, your food will taste better. This isn't authentic Mexican cuisine...but we also live in Lexington, so what do you expect? The food is decent, the prices are great, and there is almost always seating available right away. It is what it is.

This was the first and last time there. It should've been an indication that waiting minutes to be seated, that service was going to be slow...not to mention the food wasn't good.

If you ever come to Durango's on a Friday night after 7PM you will have to wait awhile for a seat. That said, it is the prices and the food that pack this place out. My personal favorite is their steak taco, and they just recently raised the price of one to $2.50 and that's after almost 10 years at $2.00. This is a family run business that is quite authentic to this native southern Californian. I can't find a Roberto's or a good Carne Asada burrito like Los Panchos makes here in Lexington but Durango's steak tacos are a great alternative when I am homesick for Mexican food like home. So far, everyone one I have ever taken here to eat has loved the food and the prices even more.

Nothing too special about this place. The entrees are priced reasonably but the drinks are $2...which I felt was about fifty cents high. I had the pregnant burrito. Steak, chicken, onion, and peppers, covered in a tomato sauce. It was ok. The flavor was fine just nothing to rave about. Rice and beans about a 7 on a 1-10 scale. My wife enjoyed her chimichanga but didn't like her beef burrito. Everything was just ok.

This place is trash. The food is boring and bland. They put freaking " queso " aka fake cheese crap on my enchilada, the chips tasted like frito's and the salsa was basically salt and tomato. Even the " Mexican " salsa was just puree'd chipotle's. The service was the worst part about my visit though. I'm pretty sure the guy that was serving my friend and I forgot about us completely a few times. He also forgot us at the table when we asked for our checks too. We had to go up to the counter and stand there for 5 minutes, literally... Until he finally saw us standing there all pissed off. THEN, they try to overcharge me to top it off! I literally had to argue with the lady up front to lower my bill...WHICH WAS NEVER LOWERED! So pissed. I paid and walked out but not without explaining how terrible my visit was in a kindly manner and I even tipped the prick that " served " us. I wish I could be meaner sometimes. TERRIBLE! GAHHHHHHHHH!!!! How can anyone say this place is good? Ridiculous. This isn't even me saying what I REALLY want to say... I gotta keep it kosher for the interwebs...

Great food, order the pulled chicken burrito. Service isn't the best, especially if you need a refill. But food is great! If you like great Mexican food this is the place.

Fast and friendly. Sometimes the chips and salsa are on the table before you can get all the way in to your seat! Margaritas are great here..but then I've never met a Margarita I didn't like. It's a great inexpensive option for lunch when you have limited time. If you order the fish with garlic at dinner, watch out. It's ALOT of garlic!

Great food at at reasonable price. It's family owned and operated and they take pride in the quaity of the food and service. I eat there at least 5 times a month.

Don't waste your time going here. For Mexican food place, it was very bland. I wouldn't even give this one star, but you have to give at least one. Just moved here from Texas and miss my Mexican food....will have to see if anyone else in Lexington knows real Mexican food.

This is a nice family-owned business. Their soups are perfect for winter weather. This is our usual family get-together place. ^_^ The catfish and fish tacos are great. Be sure to ask for the house-made hot sauce if you like a kick.

The food is mediocre and the service not very fast. Beware, if you're still sitting around conversing after the lunch specials have expired, you'll be charged dinner prices for your lunch menu items. The decor is almost as uninspired as the food.

A hidden gym in Lexington if you like Mexican. Wait can be lengthy at times but staff is prompt and quick to seat as soon as something becomes available. Food is all excellent. My favorites are the burritos and enchilada suizas. Staff is always very friendly. I've been going to this place for years and highly recommend it.

I make it a point to eat here every time I'm in Lexington. This is really good Mexican food, and good drinks as well. The mole sauce is to die for! I've never had a bad meal.

Ugh....so based on other reviews we went tonight to try this place out. Sooooo disappointed. Service was beyond terrible. Wasn't busy so no reason for it to be. Salsa was watery, guacamole was something pastey out of an Aldis cooler. I wouldn't ever go there again and definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone. :-(

Love love love the food here! This has to be the best Mexican food in Lexington and even the whole US of A!! The steak is fantastic! The shrimp is fantastic! The salsa rocks! What more could you want? Try it out!

Food is a bland tex mex atrocity. Ordered the carnitas plate for dinner and it had the look and taste of canned dog food. Maybe good for older relatives who's doctor advises against flavor. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food do not go here.

2:00 on a Sunday afternoon, service was fast, courteous, and accurate. The tortilla chips were over crunchy, over cooked and not too good. The Chicken Fajitas had little seasoning, rather bland. Don't think I'll return.

Best authentic Mexican food in Lexington. Large variety menu.

We had a very good experience here with both the food and service. We made specific modifications to the standard menu items and they were able to accommodate us and also got the order correct. The server came by several times after we received our food to make sure everything was fine and also to top off our drinks. Overall a good experience.
