Went for breakfast on a Saturday with my family and my small son. They brought out a sling which was great for his car seat. It was clean too. Our waitress messed up almost all of our our orders. The blueberry French toast I had been wanting to try was pure sugar and tasted like it came out of a can. Everything else was fine and cheap, but sometimes you get what you pay for... And I'd rather eat breakfast at doodles.

I went their twice while I was in town. The breakfast food was terrible. The sausage tasted like it was freezer burnt in an egg scramble that I had. I went back for dinner the following evening, not my choice, and got the pot roast. It was so good it almost made me forget about my breakfast experience. After that meal I would definitely go back, but only for dinner. Tip: The beef vegetable soup is fantastic!

This place is terrible! Right when we sat down our table was dirty. There were maple syrup on table and salt all over the seats in our booth. There must be a family of kids who ate before us but cleaning up after them did not appear to clean. Our booth was just...dirty! I ate at a Bob Evans restaurant in Lafayette, IN before and I had a great experience here so we decided to come here since a friend of ours never been to a Bob Evans before. We are thinking it must be this Bob Evans that didn't fare so well. Food. I ordered a sunrise skillet. It was average..nothing special about it but the potatoes were burned inside! I rather have sunny side up eggs but it came as scrambled instead. Weird that they didn't ask me how I wanted my eggs done. Another friend ordered their featured omelet. When the food came, her food did not look like the one in the picture. Her muffin was hard that it took a lot of effort to bite into it. My fiance had biscuits and gravy...and that did not taste good at all. He said something tasted funny in the gravy. Another friend ordered some breakfast dish..his potatoes was so burnt he couldnt eat it. The rest of the his entree did not even taste like how it should be. We came here for lunch since we just arrived in Lexington, KY, and boy this was a mistake.

Decided to try this place because I am a sucker for buy one entree and get one free offers. Well, technically, it was only that IF I bought beverages with each entree. This was for breakfast btw. Waited to the table by a gal who asked if I would like to drink some coffee (see this is a marketing tactic). They offer you a coffee, tea, or whatever, upon sitting down, so you are not just waiting for the meal. I would have fallen in this trap, if the coupon did not say I had to buy any beverages. When I was seated, I got this server that was hippie-ish and it was sweet. Allowed me to take 20 minutes to find the best ROI on what I would eat for my coupon. (Yeah I am really that cheap, stay tuned.) Then I finally decided I would get the Farmer's choice spinach, chives, olives, etc. omelette. It was great. Came with hash browns and biscuits. Horrible choice on my part for the amount I paid. (Not the restaurants fault, mine. You will find out as you keep reading this review.) While eating, I continued to look for the next meal I would take out. Imagine me sitting there with two menus sprawled on the table beside me. I had taken another 20 minutes to see what I could get. I decided on the Home something or other dish. Two eggs, side ( I got gritz), sausage (in link form), hashbrowns, and a specialty bread (biscuits). Towards the end of this whole thing, I found out I actually did NOT get the best ROI for what I paid. I could have done better. Anyway, the server was patient so I tipped him $2.98 (had to round off on my receipt on top of $15 (yea, because of the first entree and then the other beverage, mocha coffee drink). I proceeded to stay there an additional 30 minutes to finish the darn thermos thing that, I swear, had infinite amount of coffee in it (four cups). Had to get my $2.19 worth; especially since the to-go coffee, they only give you like a cup and I paid more. If I dined in, I probably would have gotten a thermos worth (here is one case where I slipped up getting the best ROI). I blame karma. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To help people out there and to learn from my mistakes, I will tell you guys how to get a meal worth it off a buy one get one free. Screw what you like from the menu, this is not about getting what you like; but the most of what you could consider as secondary options, if financially, you want to get the best. 1.) The best ROI for a restaurant like this is to get, obviously, the entree that gives you the most amount of sides with it for a lower price and get the more expensive entree to do the same. 2.) Go with an expensive beverage dine-in so they have to give you a thermos full of it. Dining is a game. Think it would have been better to down four cups of the mocha caramel coffee/hot chocolate combo than four cups of the original coffee. When they bill you, they will of course charge the most expensive item; however, the menu lists the cheaper options, but gives you more food for those prices. For me, I ended up paying $18 total for two entrees and two beverages with tip, $9 a piece. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not included in the star review, but to note: Pros not included: good atmosphere, clean tables, and very courteous staff. Con was the fact that some prices were inflated for the amount of food served. Omelette with a side of hashbrowns and biscuits was like $8.79. Easily get a two egg omelette, biscuits, and a side (gritz or biscuits/gravy), and a choice of bacon and sausage for $7.49

We went out for Saturday brunch. The parking lot was quite full, but we were still seated and served by a friendly staff. I had a Veggie Omelet with wheat toast and fruit cup. The spinach, onions, and tomato on my omelet were all very fresh. The fruit cup consisted of pineapple, grapes, and cantaloupe, which also were very tasty. My wife had eggs and biscuits with home fries. Being the adept foodster she is, she made her own egg sandwiches and we had a great meal. We shared a caramel mocha, which came with unlimited refills. It was very sweet and loaded with whipped cream, but I like that kind of thing. Great place for a Saturday morning!

I do not consider myself a fan of the Bob Evans brand, but the $25 gift card I had was burning a hole in my pocket. So, I decided to treat my younger sister to brunch on a Sunday. We arrived and, following a small party name mix-up by the hostess, were quickly re-seated at the right table. We both went for the Farmer's Breakfast, but different variations. This meal is served on 2 platters: one for the sweet portions (hotcakes, french toast or waffles) and one for the savory components (potatoes, meat, eggs). When our server arrived with our 4 massive plates of food, she lost control of my savory dish and it landed on the ground next to our table. No food splatter on any customers, just the floor. She was very apologetic, delivered the remaining 3 plates, and requested a new version of the one that had fallen. I had plenty of blueberry-covered hotcake to keep me occupied, so I didn't think anything of it. When we went to pay (using my trusty gift card), our server took our bill and comped the meal, citing the spilled dish. This was very unnecessary and a pleasantly surprising deed of good customer service. Even without my gift card still shouting "use me" from my pocket, I would go back to this Bob Evans.

Tonight I'm on a business trip with a colleague. After being delayed at the airport for an hour we landed in Cincinnati STARVIN at 8:30 needing to find our way to our hotel and get some food. I'm thinking perhaps Italian, Mexican or good ol' All American. After all I know we have very different palates and Asian fusion's not an option! ...So my colleague asks me if I've ever had Bob Owens. Hmm,.. my mind immediately flashes to their sausage in a plastic tube, and then I think of Cracker Barrel or Po Folks. I'm so hungry I say I'm game. At 9:30, the parking lot is deserted. I see signs that confirm that we are definitely in a recession with meals starting at $5.99. We walk in and I'm a bit disappointed with the feel of the place, not near as charming as Cracker Barrel. Looks more like a scaled down version of Denny's w/a small attempt to sell trinkets. But you can't always judge a joint from their trinkets! The deal here is pretty simple. They serve breakfast meals, pasta, sandwiches and dinners including pot roast, pork chops, chicken... I have my eye on the pork chops which the server reco's. I substitute a real baked potato for their mashed as the waiter wasn't sure if the mashed potatoes were real! The food was yummy. Very comforting. My colleague ordered the cinnamon pancakes which were huge and also looked very comforting. I also ordered biscuit and a "cup" of gravy which is bigger than my cereal bowl. The food here is yummy in a quirky southern way and VERY comforting. The service was great and the prices very modest. Just wish we had these in Georgia!
