I went in for a late lunch at Mr.Kabab and was totally famished. I considered ordering a platter, but settled on a lunch special of their beef schwarma with a side of tabooli. I figured I would try to be good and not go completely overboard. Boy am I glad I didn't order the platter. This place absolutely loaded with me up with beef and rice, forming a small Mount Schwarma on my plate. I opted to eat the tabooli first, simply because it seemed a easier goal to set for myself. It tasted pretty fresh, but had sat long enough for all the flavors to marry. Which is good, because I'm not a big fan of cucumbers otherwise. Once getting to the schwarma, I noticed a few things. The beef, while overwhelming in quantity, was a little dry. That did help it soak up the garlic yogurt sauce a little better, but I'm not a big fan of anything well done. Also, it needed salt. Oddly enough, that was the only seasoning available, so they may omit it for people trying to limit their sodium intake. Not sure. I did appreciate that the rice was half white/half yellow, just to make the schwarma a little less uniform. Overall, this schwarma is not bad. Although I would probably give the chicken a shot next time. The atmosphere was clean and long brighter than I recall, and it was kind of funny because you can stare at the customers at Dunkin' Donuts next door through a glass wall (if you're a people watcher, that is). I did enjoy the Arabic music playing, but I'm about 83% sure they had the same 3-4 minute track on repeat the whole time I was there. Overall, not the best and not the worst. Definitely a solid three.

I like Mr. Kabab, I really do. I regularly get hummus to-go, just for snacks at home. It's so much better than anyplace Ive tried in town, and far superior to the prepackaged stuff. The last time I went, however, the hummus wasn't quite as tasty. Hopefully just an off day. One improvement I'd love to see is made-to-order felafel. They heat the cold felafel in the microwave, which doesn't leave it with the best texture. I love the pickles and onions that come atop the meals. So tasty. These guys really excel at presentation. Every meal I've ever ordered is picture perfect. The staff is hit-or-miss. If really depends on who's working. Most of them are super nice. A couple of them are icy and abrupt. However, I've never noticed that they're downright rude, as other people have mentioned.

I'm updating my review to 4 stars instead of 5. After trying several other Mediterranean places in town, this one doesn't measure up to the others in regard to freshness and quality of the food. It's decent because I love Mediterranean food, but there are other better options in Lexington.

I have a short lunch break, but here is where you will almost always find me. I call ahead; the friendly staff know my (special) orders (usually the kufta sandwich with hummus, garlic sauce and harissa); the turkish coffee is fantastic; everything on the menu is good. I'd come back in the evening more often if they served alcohol (but I understand why they don't).

For Lexington to be full of chains, it's nice to find authentic foods made fast and fresh! As a safe option, the lunch special is always a good option. Somewhat annoying that this place has 3 stars, as the food truly is excellent! You CANNOT find fresher, better tasting food for the money!

After I read the reviews and as I looked around while I waited on my food, I couldn't help but wonder if these people know about Zainna's. Yes, this place is in a good location. It is a bit tucked away in the strip of small shops, in front of Burlington Coat Factory, next door to Dunkin Donuts. The lunch specials were just a few options. I chose the felafel meal, which came with two felafels served on top of hummus, a pita and a choice of one side item. Honestly, the food just wasn't good. They warmed the felafels up in the microwave, right in front of me and I was already frowning on that before I even got my meal. The hummus was quite bland and not served to me the way that another photo posted here looked. The pita bread was cold and hard, they should've thrown the pita bread in the microwave with my felafels while they were at it. The place was clean, I will give them that. But there's just too many other, better Mediterranean options in town for this one to get any more than one visit and two stars from me.

The Shawarma sandwich platter is to die for. The garlic sauce cannot be beat. Hands down my favorite place for Greek food!

I cannot stress how amazing this place is..just amazing! I had the falafel gyro and yellow rice. TONS of food and all of it amazing! The gyro had about 6 pieces of falafel, tiny thinly sliced pickles, purple onion and tomato with a delish garlic sauce PLUS tzatziki. It was huge and so flavorful!!! The yellow rice was a little dry but they added a garlic sauce on the side which made it delish. I tried the homemade baklava and it was THE BEST I have ever had. On another visit last week I had a spinach pie which I also found super tasty and delicious. I am not one to go overboard on praising a restaurant so that means Mr. Kabab is pretty special for me to rave this way! The staff is also very very friendly. I wasn't sure how I wanted my gyro and the man who took my order was very patient with me. I could eat here weekly! I also wanted to add they DO have fountain drinks because someone else said they do not. I am not sure if they just added them?? I can't believe someone said the staff was not friendly. weird.

Excellent food. You get lots of food for the platter. Very flavorful. Definitely try different sides. If you are deciding between Chiptole or Mr. Kabab, go here!

This is my first time eating here and I loved it! I had the chicken shaworma, tabooli salad and grape leaves. It was fantastic! Very filling, yet light. The owner was delightful, and Gwen was so helpful with suggestions of items I should try. Would def come back. I can't believe I drive by here daily and hadn't tried it! Unfortunately, the picture is of the portion I couldn't eat. I was in to big a hurry to sample it, that I forgot to take a pic before. :)

Great bang for your buck. They gave me a TON of food. Unfortunately the meat had been sitting on the vertical spit for a while so it was pretty dry. The rice was a little dry as well because it had been sitting out (granted I went at 3pm on the 2nd of January so I kinda expected it but was hoping the food was a little more moist and fresh). I also got their cheese pie which, unfortunately, had been sitting for a while. It was tasty even though it had been sitting out...I'm sure fresh it would have been amazing. Since Lexington is devoid of Mediterranean food (compared to LA), this is a place I wouldn't mind coming back to. It's really good value and it's not bad...I'm sure it would have been better if I came in during optimal dining hours.

I love this place, and have been getting it every week or two for months. You can tell they care a lot about presentation and quality. I've tried everything on the menu, and normally get the beef shawarma. Every time it's got the right mix of spices and I'm never disappointed. My wife gets the falafel, which is also amazing. I went to Sahara for the first time last week and it was pretty good, but not on the same level as Mr. Kabab. I'm not sure why Sahara had a long line and Kabab is normally vacant. I consider it one of the best places in Lexington, and hope more people discover it and give it the business it deserves!

Mr Kebab suffers in part because they're competing against Sahara, Zainna, and now Pita Social too. In a town without such a plethora of amazing Mediterranean places it would probably be a lot busier. My typical reason for going to Mr. Kebab is that it's too late for Sahara to have any meat left (after 6) and I don't want to or don't have time to drive all the way to Zainna (way on the other side of town). They give you a lot of food and they have pretty good hummus. Their pita are ok but just the same bagged pita you can buy at the grocery. Their shawarma can be dry. Sometimes the kebabs are overdone, at other times they're quite good, although not all that flavorful until you get the garlic sauce involved. The garlic sauce is really good, but they don't give you much so I always end up having to pay for extra. They don't have fountain drinks, and the bottled sodas/water can get expensive for this kind of place. Skip the falafel, it has been sitting under that heat lamp all day as have all the pies (is it that hard to fry up some to order?). Their rice is usually good though; each plate is 1/2 of each of the two styles of rice and they blend really well. I'm not sure what they call each type though, because the people working there aren't approachable or engaging. The decor is actually nicer than any other med. place in town, but the place isn't welcoming at all because of the staff who quickly and efficiently take your order without a smile. And even though you're all right there within a few feet of each other as you wait for your food, they don't speak to you (and seem to argue a bit with each other). The whole place has a bummer vibe which has gotten worse in the last several months. You wouldn't want to go there to eat in, but it is tolerable for carry out.

I was satisfied with Mr. Kabab but I really thought it would be better. Don't get me wrong, it was perfectly fine, and if Sahara wasn't so outrageously good, I'd probably be more than just lukewarm on this place. I like that they serve lunch portions all day, every day. That scores big points with me. The grilled chicken skewers were very good and obviously grilled fresh, and the tabbouleh that I selected as the side was great. Rice was okay, but kind of standard, and a touch dry. The pita was not made in-house, but was still good and a steal at $0.25 per piece. The garlic sauce was freakin' addictive. My one gripe is that the dining room was messy and tables were not wiped down. I can totally overlook this in the middle of a lunch rush, but at 4:30 on a weekday?! They had a good two or three hours to wipe the tables down and sweep the floors after the lunch crowd thinned out. This is just laziness in my opinion. It would take all of about 10 minutes to straighten the joint up. C'mon guys, just do it for your customers who like to eat on a clean table. I will try it again because I love this type of cuisine, it is reasonably close to my house and the food is pretty solid. I may opt for take-out next time though.

While I love Mediterranean food this place has many issues. The staff is unfriendly and the food is hit or miss. I will never eat here again, they served me an order of shwarma that was extremely dry as though it had sat out overnight.

I've had mixed experiences here. The kebabs, rice, hummus, and pita are usually good, but the baba ganoush is terrible. Seriously, one guy in our group got it and said it tasted like cigarettes. The one time I tried it here, it was super salty and oily. The rice can be a little oily at times but the chicken and beef kebabs are nice and tender. I think Sahara has tastier food overall, and of higher quality, but I would eat here again.

I have no idea why this place has only 3 stars. The food is fresh and delicious, and the staff is very friendly. Lexington needs places like this to diversify the food scene. They're serving up tasty food at excellent prices!

I love this place. The staff are always friendly and they have large portions. I like going there for lunch since their lunch combos are only 5.89 plus tax. They come with a side, garlic yogurt, pita and water. It's the best Mediterranean food on the east side of town.

Finally a boy who likes ethnic food found a good gyro in Lexington. I had a gyro and the cucumber salad. Wonderful and tastes just like home. The service not the best but I am willing to sacrifice food for incredible food. The place is CLEAN and the people are friendly just not full of personality. Will definitely be returning.

Ok, so I had a bunch of errands in and around the Richmond Rd/Old Todds Rd area of Lexington. I spotted a Chipotle and spun around to stop in there, when I saw across from them is a Mr. Kabab, so I thought I would try something new. One Star... Basically I waited for a good while (20 minutes and only 2 people in front fo me) in a short line, only to find out the person at the front had called ahead and placed her order, so they held up placing other folks' orders till they finished filly hers? Something isn't right about that. Finally got to place my order, which I was just going to build my lunch from combining 3 sides (Kibbe, Chicken Wrap and Spinach pie), 2 of the 3 items they ran out of (mind you this is 12:20pm in the afternoon).... So I placed an order for a meat pie, Spinach pie and a Falafel. Took another 20 minutes and finally the guy just dumps the pies and the falafel (from where they were sitting under the heat lights the who time) in paper bag and hands it to me. Took so long to order and get the food, I had to pretty much eat it on my ride back to the office. All of the food was cold and the pies literally fell apart in my hands. This place really doesn't care about their food or the people that keep them in business. Last $6.89 I'll spend there.

Really good for the price and type of restaurant. The lamb is great...full of flavor and cooked well. The gyro bread is pre made but tastes good. Hummus is awesome. We always get the gyros and are happy every time. The rice is good as well. It's not the best I've had but if your craving Greek style food, it hits the spot.

This is a good place for a quick meal, but keep it simple. I was happy that the Dolma's were vegetarian instead of those gross meat pods some places have instead. One thing that made me a tad disappointed was the guy getting my meal ready was just reheating these old falafel balls in a microwave, I don't care so much but seeing made me think twice.

Chicken Schwarma and hummus!! There is no substitutes once you get a craving for this place!! Stay away from naan and baklava and its a gluten free meal :) even better!!

Their chicken kabab & shawromah are good. The salads are good and fresh. The rest of the food is healthy and fresh as well. The staff was friendly and fast. Reasonable priced items.

Pretty pedestrian food. It's nice for a change of pace, as they have a good range of mediterranean favorites at reasonable prices, but none of the offerings are something I'd go out of my way for unless I really wanted Mediterranean.

There are a few Mediterranean places in town you can get some good food, when you want shwarma and gyros, this is the place to go. The garlic sauce is a thin, spicy, garlic sauce that tastes amazing on everything. The cucumber salad is decent. I've been told the kabobs are pretty good as well. I'm not a big fan of rice, but my husband loves it. We usually get the beef and chicken shwarma. The chicken comes on a bed of spiced (i think with cinnamon) white rice and the beef of yellow saffron rice. I like this place better than some of the other places because I know at 7pm, they will have food--which is important at dinner time. Don't bother with the falafels here, go for the meat!
