I was in town just for the day and found City BBQ on yelp. I used a yelp coupon and since it was my first time here I got a drink on the house. My meal ended up being just over $6 bucks and I can say without hesitation it was the best $6 meal I've ever had! The super friendly staff and that nice satisfied feeling after my meal topped off my dinning experience!

I am surprised I have not given this City BBQ a review. We've been here several times and have always had a good experience. We like many items from their menu - slab of ribs, pulled pork, turkey, beef brisket as main entrees and many delicious sides and desserts.

Always get the family pack to go at least twice a month. Great deal and my family loves it. And don't forget they offer an NKU discount.

I stopped in recently.... had avoided the place because I have always tended to hate chain BBQ places..... however, bad choice on my part. It actually was very good. Clean, attentive service, informed servers, and the food itself was very very tasty. It is a bit confusing in terms of where to go to order and such and I think they could easily improve the "flow" of the entire service aspect BUT it still is very good. The sauces are limited but vary and are flavorful. I too would echo some of the comments about perhaps expanding the sauce choices but on the other hand, I do get the feeling that they put some time, heart, and effort into the BBQ and would not try to make it something it is not. The sides were solid also. I've only been there once but hope to hit it again a couple times but my first experience was enjoyable and flavorful. I had the chicken and ribs platter with macncheez and green beans. Not one item I had made me wish I hadn't ordered it...... if you are in this area, then I would give it a shot......

The food here is unreal. The meat is smoked to perfection and on par with BBQ joints in the south. The sauce is the real star at city though. The options are great and the warm sauce really gives your sandwich the boost it needs. Service is awesome every time. Also, get the family pack. It's a helluva deal.

Get the slaw! And the sweet tea. And the Cheerwine. And obviously some bbq. It's like a mini-trip back to NC when I go here! The only thing that's missing is hush puppies.

I think this place is a great addition to the Highland Heights area. A bit smaller than the Florence location but there is a small patio outside too. I recommend going and trying the sampler for a little bit of everything. Upgrade the sides to a pint and there's plenty for three.. maybe even 4 if you're not starving. $25 is a great price considering how much meat you get. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork and a 1/4 chicken. While not the best BBQ I've ever had, it was pretty decent and a much better alternative to fast food. We were in and out in probably half an hour with a peach cobbler boxed up for later.

LOVE this place! Food and service have been phenomenal each time my boyfriend and I have visited. From our first visit, we were impressed with how nice the staff was and how they took the time to explain the menu. I highly recommend the delux city sampler. It's plenty of food for two people and it's a delicious way to experience what City BBQ has to offer! You can't go wrong with sides but I'm in love with their potato salad! I also loveeeee their fresh lemonade and sweet tea. This place is so great you will definitely be thinking about when you can come back before you even leave- I know we were! Highly recommended!!

I love city bbq...no matter what location which speaks VOLUMES coming from someone who up until this point wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. The only issue I have with this location is call in orders. I work at UC and yes the food is worth the drive on my lunch break...but when I get there, my order is never ready. :( so by the time I get it and get back, my lunch is now dinner. Other than that, great choice!

The gumbo is amazing and the sausage is awesome too! Try the greens as well -- they're an experience to be had as well. The Cheerwine is how I remember it from living on Asheville, NC and is great to wash everything down.

Awesome BBQ all around. I got the city sampler, and the best was the Texas smokes sausage, followed by pulled pork. The brisket and turkey is very good too. Wish they had some vinegar based sauces, but the brush fire an regular sauce are great. Sides are phenomenal as well, especially the corn pudding an hush puppies. Great homemade lemonade and ice tea too.

One of the, if not, the best barbeque places in the area. You can go with a mix such as the platter or you can go sandwich and a side. Tuesday is bone in night featuring $1 and some change per rib bone.
