The food here was just "OK". This is my hometown, and I flew in from Florida early morning on a recent visit specifically in order to catch the Friday lunch buffet. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but at the very least, I was expecting more variety. They had their signature yellow-leg fried chicken, but the other meat option they had was a chicken rice curry. I have no idea how that found it's way on to a Kentucky buffet. The whole time I was planning this trip I was dreaming of Kentucky Hot Browns, country ham, mashed potatoes and gravy. None of that was on offer. The only dessert option was a basic bread pudding. The service was mediocre as well. Why those servers are so stingy with the cornbread and rolls, I have no idea, since with the poor buffet offerings, allowing the option to fill up on bread would seem the least they could do. 90% of the people in the place seemed to be over 60, so maybe they have a Friday buffet niche of regulars, where they don't even need to make an effort to impress, or much less, even try to.

The Beaumont Inn is well worth the drive. The setting is beautiful, the facility is charming and the staff are very warm. We had a large family group for a dinner and it was wonderful. We had a private room and were allowed to stay until we were ready to go well past the time the restaurant closed. The food was delicious and we appreciated the service and hospitality.

Beaumont Inn is Old South dining at its finest! While the rest of their menu is excellent, THE item to get is The Classic Beaumont Dinner which includes their famous country ham and yellow legged fried chicken. One of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to, and is ALWAYS top notch in service and food. Its definitely worth the 1 hour drive to go to for dinner. One of my most favorite restaurants EVER! Highly recommended!!

My collegiate Homecoming was this past Holiday weekend. I decided to finally stay at Beaumont Inn. I brought my niece with me and neither of us was disappointed. We had a fantastic time. The room (in Greystone House) was beautiful, large and very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean. However, the main reason why I am writing this was the service. We had dinner and breakfast at the main dining room and it was FANTASTIC. My niece, born bred New Jerseyan, had cheese grits and corncakes for the first time and absolutely loved them. Our waitress was Loretta, and she was the most wonderful waitress I have ever had, southern hospitality at its best. I plan on going back to Beaumont in 5 years for my next reunion. Beaumont is not inexpensive, but it is worth the price for every 5 years. Wendy Genova

The food was excellent. Very friendly "down-home" waitstaff that add a sense of quaintness to decadent meal. We really enjoyed it! Great for a Saturday exploring some of the small local towns near Lexington.

A sprawling inn complete with rooms in several buildings, two bar/lounges and a restaurant. A great place for families to gather, because there are many spacious common areas in the main house where everyone can sit together. Check in was friently and fast. The rooms, as in most inns, are different sizes, and ours was cozy and just fine (bronze), although the bathroom was so small, the door could not be completely opened, as it hit the toilet. But no problem -- the bed was comfy, there was certainly enough room in the room itself (the closet is tiny), and most importantly, the blinds and curtains make the room quite dark, which is perfect for sleeping. You can hear some noise from the hall and adjoining room, but not much. Was it overpriced for the room? Yes, but not exorbitantly so. The restaurant is OK. Service was pretty good. The corn pudding is mostly pudding and not much corn. The fried chicken is yummy, as is the bread pudding. The bleu cheese dressing tastes like mayonnaise with bleu cheese crumbles stirred in, but the 1000 Island dressing was quite good. Prices for the dinner menu seem reasonable, but the Sunday buffet is wildly overpriced at $18.95. Sure, it's a nice spread, but at that price you probably would expect something a little more exceptional that what is standard brunch buffet fare. Overall, it was a nice place to stay, although a little expensive. Nice grounds, too, with shuffleboard. There is really not much to do in Harrodsburg, but the nearby town of Danville is quite charming, and Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill is a nice day trip only a few miles away. There are distilleries in the surrounding area which can be toured.

This review is for the overnight accommodations. My significant Otter had read about the Beaumont and wnated to give it a try on a recent trip to KY. We checked in Saturday afternoon and were warmly greeted and given a little tour. The Inn is comprised of three beautiful old buildings, formerly a women's college. The owners have collected many antiques from the college and area and placed on display throughout the main building in which we stayed. The decor throughout the main building is lovel and it's all very clean. Our room was on the top floor near the ancient elevator. I thought this might get noisy but I didn't hear the elevator at all. The room and Inn reminded me of a mini Greenbrier but more accurately priced and overall better. The grounds are lovely and include a walking trail and shuffle boards (which I thought was only played on the Lido deck of the Love Boat). There is a dining room which hosts breakfast - again, I missed out on this 'cause most places serve bkfst before I like to get up (the Otter enjoyed breakfast of biscuits & gravy, grits, made to order corn cakes and more) - and two restaurants on the property. Check out was quick and easy, and we learned the Beaumont participates in a group of Inns that offer a discount if you stay at three. We may become Inn stayers.

We loved the charm of this historic inn and the staff and food were wonderful. We would consider coming back again except for one thing. The beds were horrible. Bottom line for us, if you cannot sleep comfortably and awaken feeling rested, it is not a good choice for a vacation or getaway. We were on the 3rd floor of the main house. Enjoyed the Owl Tavern and the dining room on the premises. Love the history. Just....those beds.

Awesome hotel. The staff was great they were very helpful and friendly. The Porter showed us around the hotel and took our bags from the car to the room. The hotel is very clean and neat. There is a lot of pictures and antiques to view. The Breakfast was great the waitress was very friendly. Great experience. .

My grandparents spent their first night as husband and wife at the Beaumont Inn 70 years ago. Last week, the family returned to celebrate their 70th anniversary with dinner and drinks at this refined, yet comfortable dining room. Beaumont Inn was named a 2015 James Beard Award winner and I could not wait to try the traditional southern cuisine. A few things you must know about southern food... 1) Fried chicken should be full of flavor and served piping hot with skin golden and perfectly crisp. 2) Country ham should be salty and have taste. 3) Corn pudding should not be runny. 4) Green beans should be cooked with bacon (or some portion of the pig) for HOURS. 5) Mashed potatoes. The "Classic Beaumont Dinner" has ALL of this and it is cooked to perfection. Yet somehow, this classic dinner that would usually leave me in need of being rolled out the door, left me with room for dessert! Magical! Chess pie, of course. Food at the Inn is perfection. More importantly, the Beaumont Inn is a piece of Kentucky history and lore. Definitely one to add to the "Must See" places in Kentucky!

This is Such a historic icon and flash back to the old south. The employees are gracious and welcoming. They are famous for their yellow legged fried chicken, and for a good reason! It is tasty and crunchy on the outside with a beautiful golden color and soft and tender chicken in the inside ! They are also known for their corn pudding , real mashed potatoes , and let's not forget their bread pudding! These are the items I highly suggest to experience Kentucky food. The corn pudding is the best example I have seen as to how it should be . Light, creamy, with crisp corn kernels . The mashed potatoes are the real deal. You just don't find these around often at places. The bread pudding is soft with toasted pecan pieces, covered in a buttery, lite bourbon sauce and homemade whipped cream . I drool thinking of the above items. I should also add their yeast rolls are a piece of heaven. Stay with the above items and you should be one happy and full person ! It's classic Kentucky as it should be.

What a gem we found in this place! It still looks like I imagine it would in the 60's and much of the clientele look like this is their little hideaway for all those many years. I'm quite sure we were the youngest guests there (in our 40's). It is still run the old fashioned way with actual keys, hand written paper receipts, an old gated elevator which was way cool, and employees that take pride in what they do. The Owl Tavern had really good food and good service so we didn't try any of the other other choices, other than breakfast on our last day. We loved the first night in the big home so much that we decided to move to the actual inn the next night and extend our stay rather than driving on. So glad this place had vacancy. We loved every exquisite detail. But we are into antiques, history, and stuff like that.

Outstanding historical hotel. Extremely well maintained. We stayed in the main house, and the quality of the original construction and the maintenance efforts are obvious and intentional. Our room was extremely comfortable, well appointed and in the style of an upscale, old school plantation house. The downstairs has beautiful sitting rooms, a wide planked and comfortable front porch and beautiful fixtures. The Owl's Nest restaurant on-site had very good food. Staff were extremely friendly, and the grounds are beautiful. I mean gorgeous! The Beaumont Inn is located in the oldest town in Kentucky, Harrodsburg, which is pretty much the awesomest historical down town I've ever seen. Having just come from Franklin, TN, that's a major compliment. The surrounding neighborhood is filled with beautifully maintained historic homes. I loved staying here--I felt like I was in a southern dream. Beaumont Inn gets the highest accolades I can give and ranks among my favorite places stayed to date. if you can, go here. You will absolutely enjoy yourself........

The rooms are beautiful and the staff very friendly. The whole vibe of being in the family home of wealthy Kentuckians with the generations of all their antiques is intense, the lush opulence and living history of it all is impressive. DO NOT EAT DINNER THERE. I've heard that at one time it was wonderful family-style homemade fare but what we had was bagged salad and slaw, thin defrosted catfish, cheap bottled 'Thai chili' sauce (syrup and red dye #5) on the seared tuna...I heard the fried chicken was good tho. If you do eat there, have the chicken livers but have them pan fried.

I wish I could give it more stars but it is in the middle of town and the houses are broken up. We got the most expensive room $240 with tax and the bed was like sleeping on the floor. IT WAS TERRIBLE. It was buckled on the sides too so you could tell it was SUPER old and there was sheet metal around the bottom of the bed???? Also everything is in the main house so we have the most expensive room with no bottled water (which bottled water is no where and there tap water tastes like brass) and not mini frig in your room or a frig in each house. And in the main house you have to pay for can pop which is $1...tacky. Every B&B we have stayed in has either a common area or mini frig in each room with pop and bottled water. The room was clean so that is a plus. Breakfast was great but only served till 9:30AM. Also there is LOTS OF KIDS here!!!!

Love the building and the staff was great! Fun historic place to stay on beautiful grounds. Not a lot of plugs, which was hard when we needed phones and laptops for work. But other than that, enjoyed the beautiful place!

This review is for the Beaumont Inn Dining Room only. We did not stay overnight in the inn. We ate dinner there and it was just TERRIBLE from start to finish. Our meal for 2 was $46.00 with no drinks or dessert. To start the meal our server brought out frozen yeast rolls like the ones you get in a bag at Sams Club. Speaking of bags, the salad greens were the bagged variety. Why is it so hard to make a fresh salad? We ordered the fried chicken and country ham. The chicken was very dry and overcooked. The country ham was pitiful. I am from KY and I know good country ham when I taste it. This ham was not prepared correctly as it was as tough as jerky. The corn pudding was mostly pudding and no corn....no flavor what so ever! The best part of the meal was the green beans. They were seasoned nicely. We skipped dessert as our meal was such as disaster. I hope the Beaumont Inn can get their act together in the kitchen and prepare some good food as I'm sure they once did.

This is such a cute hotel. The rooms are extremely well kept, breakfast is included, and the grounds are pristine. There isn't a whole lot of action in the area, but if you are looking to get away and relax this is a great spot. The staff was very accommodating for my friends wedding party and guests. The price was also not bad for a higher end option. If I ever make it back down to this area of Kentucky I would not hesitate to stay here again.
