Wanted to try something besides all the fast food places around. Stopped in here. Hubby had the shoulder and I had the ribs. Husband loved the shoulder and the sweet potato casserole and the vinegar slaw. Said it was some of the best BBQ he has had. I don't really care for BBQ, it was okay. I did love the hush puppies. First time having them. Employees were great, restaurant was clean.

The brisket and Indian stew were really good. The shoulder was ok. Employees were all very nice. I would definitely come back.

It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good, either. The brisket was just ok, and served on a really cheap hamburger bun, even though I requested no bun; the ribs were pretty fatty; the sweet potato "crunch" was about as crunchy as Gerbers baby food; the mac and cheese was kind of runny and bland. The Indian stew was more of a soup, but to be fair it was actually pretty tasty. Overall, not the worst ever, but we wouldn't go back. We were hopeful the positive reviews that had outweighed the negative ones were a sign this place was better than average, but alas, no.

My husband Doug, our 13 year old daughter and myself stopped in after driving up from Atlanta on our vacation stop at Mammoth Caves. We decided to order several different items and split them as we couldn't make up our mind and wanted to try several items and didn't want a ton of food. We ordered the pork shoulder, brisket sandwich and for sides we got the sweet potato crunch, macaroni and cheese and the Indian Stew. The sweet potato crunch is reason enough to come here. My husband declared these were the best sweet potatoes he has ever had and that is saying a lot. I also highly recommend the Indian Stew. It is full of meat, beans, and a blend of seasoning that makes you want more and more. The dipped sauce that the pork came in was a great blend of sweet and heat. The meat was a little tough but the sauce made up for that. The brisket was a little dry but once again the sauce came to the rescue. This was our first taste of Southern BBQ and it was a satisfying experience. I'd come again if ever in Glasgow.

When I was in town, my co-workers asked if I want to come here for lunch. They told me Moose's BBQ, but somehow I heard that we're eating moose bbq style...talk about culture shock. But hey, I'm pretty open for new foods, so sure why not. This place is unique, old and vintage like. I like the hanging license plates on the front counter as you enter this place. Their menu is against the wall at top behind the counter, which reminds me of old school movie theaters type of thing. I got the pulled pork burger, which was delicious. I also had the sweet potato crunch, which was pretty good. One of the ladies I work with had the burger, which was pretty big. The other lady I work with had catfish fillet, which was steaming hot. The food here is pretty good I must say. So when I'm in town I'll come back here to try other things on their menu. Oh yea, if driving into the parking lot, becareful you might blow a tire. I witnessed it when I was at the parking lot.

I am deeply sorry. We went to this place based on the previous reviews. But I have to say if this is your idea of a good BBQ place then you haven't had real food. Very very disappointing. The shoulder was little moee than beef jerky and the brisket was average at best. If your used to BBQ with rich thick sauce then avoid this place. The service was with a smile however, but they didn't bring us everything we ordered and I had to go up and ask for the rest. food was cheap, and it shows.

Food decent, service good. I might return but I don't live there so maybe I'd try again. Rewrote this review after thinking about it.

We came to Big Moose after a whole day caving. It was a good recharging meal! Everything was hearty and delicious. We had a group of 8, and everyone enjoyed it, that tells you how great this place is. Few things I'd personally recommend: 1. Indian stew (meat, beans, awesome seasonings) 2. Hash brown casserole. 3. Sweet Potato Crunch. Even simple side dishes like the corns and the green beans from this place were good. Corn is sweet and buttery. Beans are not seasoned, which make it a better choice if you have a calorie budget. Oh don't forget, they are closed on Sundays.

WOW, OH WOW!!! I had to try this place since my family talks so much about it. Let me start off by saying that the girls at the counter are sooo friendly and helpful. The food was brought to the table and I could not wait to taste the ribs I ordered. My mouth watered as soon as the plate was set in front of me. The meat came right off the bone... I was very impressed.... My side orders were very good too, I had bbq beans and corn. They have wooden booths and tables... very cool atmosphere . And dont 4get to ring the bell that's by the exit if you liked the food!!! :-) I can't wait to return and try other items on the menu....

I was in Glasgow for business and my client asked where I wanted to go for lunch, I suggested BBQ and he navigated as I drove to Big Moose's . You walk in and all the food is cooked and served behind a glass window in from of you. You order and get your cup for all you can drink soda, or sweet tea. For those of you that have never had sweet tea, Its regular Ice tea with enough sugar in it to remove any loose fillings you might have. They have tables and booths, all natural wood. They bring your orders to you. I had the 1/2 BBQ chicken with vinegar slaw and the hash-brown casserole. The chicken was a dry rub . It was all excellent, my client had the shoulder and I had a chance to taste it, also very good. The atmosphere is very southern country , very friendly staff and excellent cooking. I think I will try the ribs next time.

Just like the last reviewer, we also came to Big Moose's after a full day of caving (we survived the wild tour at Mammoth). The pork shoulders were perfect, the sweet potato salad was great, and the catfish, for some reason the catfish didn't have that mucky taste you usually associate with catfish. It was excellent fish. We're going back to Moose's when we come back to this part of Kentucky (hopefully next year).

My boyfriend and I decided to make the drive from Cave City to Glasglow to try Big Moose's BBQ Smokehouse after reading its excellent review's here on Yelp but it was not at all worth the trip. When we walked in there was a line to order food at the counter which is then delivered to the tabled. I ordered a half chicken, mac and cheese, and hashbrown casserole. My boyfriend asked the woman at the counter whether the burger or the brisket was better and she recommended the burger so that is what he ordered with sides of baked appples and mac and cheese. The food was to our table within minutes as it is all done cafeteria line style and not cooked to order. My chicken was very dry. His burger was dull and looked like it was a frozen patty. The sides tasted like they were made from boxed mixes. The hashbrown casserole was mushy and completely inedible. This was the furthest thing I have ever seen from comfort food. One star for this meal is really one star too many.

Visited based on reviews. OK at best. Just not that impressed with the 'cue.
