Food and service were both good. Just not spectacular! But if you're in town and looking for a place to eat it's a good choice.

Look, I don't know about you but when I think of comfort food, some kind of diner-like place comes to mind. I think of tasty, inexpensive, plentiful food that you can sit and devour with friends and family. It's so nice to find such a place in downtown Georgetown! We came here after a recommendation from a friend in Lexington who suggested it as a "can't miss it" kind of place. She was right. It was amazing with TONS of interesting lunch time offerings. Specials of the day were seafood jambalaya and catfish fingers. My wife got the huge bowl of jambalaya (and didn't need to eat again all day long!) and I opted for the combo po-boy which turned out to be catfish and shrimp. Now, normally I stay away from catfish cause of previous experience but since they sort of specialize in it, I decided how bad could it be. Well, it was FABULOUS!! The po-boy was delightful, full of flavor, a huge hoagie bun size, filled with freshly fried catfish and shrimp. Oh, and it was $6.99. So was the jambalaya. WOOT! That's what I'm talking about. I'd eat either of those again any time!! And let me ask you, where else can you get half a sandwich and soup for $4.99? That's right, $4.99. The correct answer is NOWHERE. Except Fava's. Yep. Believe me. And as I paid my "whopping" lunch tab at the register, I noted the sign behind the counter that listed today's fresh pies. Oh my, is that what I think it is? Yep, butterscotch pie. Well, sit me down and feed me grandma cause I'm not leaving without getting me some of that!! And it was everything I had hoped it would be. And more. Run, don't walk, to Fava's. You'll thank me.....

I have to say my stop today was for milk shakes, the girl had some reservation on how to make them, but with the help of the honest girl, they got done, and they were very friendly. I will say I had some money drop out of my pocket and the honest girl with the black and teal Nike Fusions came out of the restaurant and gave me my money back. I know in this day in age she they could have pocket it... So kudos to honesty and an overall good restaurant in town.

I guess you could say we are regulars here. We eat here several times a month. Great people. Good food. Specials change frequently. Can always find something homemade to eat. Never leave disappointed. Open since 1910!!! Homemade PIE.

Great food & atmosphere! I had a shrimp/catfish poboy which I couldn't eat it all after my cheesy bacon fries appetizer. Oops. Wish I had room to fit in some ice cream. I did buy a huge chocolate chip cookie there....getting ready to eat it.

Great place to stop off I75. Located in historic downtown Georgetown. Cajan Catfish and the Combo PoBoy were what we decided on. It was delicious! Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. Also the kids hotdog and chicken tenders were a really good size portion. A must if you are in the area!

Love this place! If fried pickles are your thing make sure to get the frickles. Can't go wrong with a burger and basically everything I've and my coworkers have had have but delicious. Lunch time crowd can get pretty busy, but worth the wait. Georgetown..I'm jealous, good eats.

We stopped by for a light snack before a tour. We loved the Shrimp Poboy and Fried Green tomatoes. The service was friendly and the shakes were delicious.

This review will focus on their service. Overall this is a good average diner. Great for a small town. My main complaint with this place was the service was a little slow. So slow in fact, that our grandmother commented if they were "butchering a hog back there". Unfortunately, in a small town like this you have limited options and this is a good choice, just watch out for the slow service.

I stopped by Fava's on a weekday afternoon. It was packed! But, it didn't look like a business lunch crowd - lots of parents and children. The waitress came quickly with a menu which had a nice selection. I ordered the catfish sandwich and fries. It was quite a long wait for the food, but it was soooo good. The fish was perfectly battered and cooked with a juicy red tomato and crisp lettuce on the bun. The fries were also fresh and delicious. I decided to get the pie because it was advertised as being homemade. The strawberry pie tasted like they had my mom back in the kitchen. If I'm in hurry, I might not go there. But, I'll definitely be back for the food.

Good food at a good price. The servers are all very nice. The chili is hot and delicious.

Fava's has been around Georgetown for as long as I can remember and while I have memories of last eating there when I was about six, we recently introduced my husband to this iconic restaurant! This is southern food at its best (with lots of grease) and I enjoyed fried pickles and some sweet tea with my grilled cheese. While it can get quite noisy, it's good food at a good price. It's kid friendly as well and there's something on the menu to please everyone.

Such a great local restaurant. If you go- make sure to try the Frickles (fried pickles). They are fresh with a perfect amount of breading. The catfish is amazing! Only order the all you can eat if you are incredibly hungry- the regular platter is enough for two meals. Last time I was there I got the combination po' boy with catfish and shrimp. It was piled high on a toasted toll and came with a delicious home made remoulade. The prices are incredibly good for the amount of good you get. Don't pass up the Frickles- you will regret it!

This is a main street country diner with heart. Every taste reminds me of America. They do fried food well: too well, according to my waist. The soups, sandwiches, hot browns, and pies are all delicious.

Very cute little hometown place. Went with the fried banana peppers instead of the standard pickles - very tasty! Tried the hot brown on this first visit - best one I've had... great cheese gravy! They had ran out of their pies, which everyone seems to rave about so it gives me another excuse to come back soon!

Don't go when they are busy the service is bad. Ordered fried pickles never seen them. Ordered catfish dinner plate and after what seemed like 45 min a plate of about 4-5 small nuggets came out. I ate them and went out somewhere else and had dinner.

I had the shrimp po-boy and it was pretty good. Food was good, solid, and cheap. Selection was burgers, fish sandwiches, desserts for lunch menu. No complaints, and it's cool that they have been around so long. Place seemed to have a steady stream of customers and our waitress was just the right amount of attentive - not overly so, but still find-able. Was full or I would have tried the pie - which is apparently to die for! ;-)

My boyfriend and I decided on this place for dinner on night #3 of our stay in Kentucky. He ordered the Hot Brown which came with a side salad. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries. We assumed his salad would have been brought to our table because he was asked his dressing of choice & the other waiters were obtaining the salads from the salad bar and delivering them to tables. After waiting 15 mins he just got up and got his own salad. Then the waiter proceeded to drop the check off stating she "didn't want to forget it". We proceeded to wait an additional 35 mins for our food. Our drinks were finally then refilled (had been empty for approx. 20 mins). His Hot Brown was very tasty but burned and wasn't visually appealing. My French fries weren't anything exciting, chicken was very tasty. I got a side of beer cheese...which was interesting. Not like any that we had previously at different places (it was served cold and was very spicy). We paid our tab and left...we felt very rushed due to the fact that we got the bill way before our food, plus were weren't even asked if we wanted anything else. Dessert maybe? The waiter had no personality, didn't smile once and didn't take any pride in her job. This was unfortunately our first experience in Kentucky were the service was less than stellar.

I saw Fava's as a potential eatery when I drove by as I was on my way to my hotel. I asked where to eat and the Desk Manager said, "Fava's." OK, it was on. The table wasn't as clean as I would have liked but the server cheerfully wiped it down for me. I was having a late lunch, so I wanted ice tea and chose the special which was a Kentucky Hot Brown with a salad. It was served up quickly and was very tasty. The salad had a variety of greens and other weeds in it which surprised me for a small town Mom & Pop place. Delicious! The Hot Brown was very tasty although it wasn't a work of art visually. Still, it was quite satisfying to eat and that is what it is all about. The hotel manager had said they did good homemade pies so I chose the Derby Pie which is a chocolate pecan pie. It had been cooked just a little long but it was still very tasty with the "Mother would make it" appeal. I've seen reviews of poor service here and would disagree based on my experience. The young lady kept my tea full and was extremely friendly and happy. It was the same with the lady that ran the cash register. In summary, I'm putting this in my GPS for the next time I come through here. A nice restaurant, family friendly, small town charm, good food and not far off the highway.

Sorry but food was awful & felt like I needed to take a shower when I left. My daughter had a fish sandwich & it tasted so odd & I had pimento cheese & chili. The chili was awful .... Thick & no flavor

The service was very friendly. The food was great. The beer cheese wasn't my thing but my family enjoyed it. You won't know unless you give it a chance.

Fava's embodies the self image of all local Central Kentucky diners. The delicious food, friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere can not be matched. I would strongly recommend Fava's to anyone visiting Central Kentucky.

Food was okay- little bland, but not bad. But the service was great- very friendly and made us feel like locals. I had shrimp po boy, it was a little light on the shrimp, but not terrible. Husband had hot brown, which he liked despite being accustomed to more flavorful food. Prices are great!

All pies are homemade onsite. I had the coconut merengue since they were out of lemon, my favorite. It was great. Almost a new favorite.

The food was very good, we had the Philly cheesesteak and chicken cheesesteak. BUT, service was not great. Took 30 minutes to serve and forgot to put in 1 of our sandwiches so had to wait another 15 min for it. But will try again because food was very good.

I agree with John N. The place is okay. Service was fast and friendly, but the meals we had were average. Everyone else in the place was eating dessert and raving about it, but we didn't have time to stay. I had a chef salad and onion rings. My husband had a fish sandwich. If I am ever in Georgetown again, I will go back and try the pie.

This place has been around for 100 years so they must be doing something right. But whatever it is, I am not quite sure. The food was just OK. Veg options are pretty limited. No breakfast after 12:00. Service was fast and friendly enough. Accepts all major CCs. Highlight for me is the mural on the interior wall.

This is the seminal mid-American diner. Bean soup the way my great-grandma made it--with country HAM. Pimento cheese sandwiches. Frickles-- fried pickles. Super friendly and efficient service. It's like going to your cousin's house for dinner, with classic diner decor.

I think the food here is gross. This is Waffle House level cuisine. Plain sandwiches, fried stuff, crowded, etc. Maybe just not my cup of tea?

This is an older restaurant in downtown Georgetown. Has been there since the early 1900s. Nice old time feel to the place. Food is good and reasonably priced. My favorite is the Philly Cheesesteak omlet with hashbrowns. Just the right amount of egg, meat and cheese! Wait staff is friendly and accommodating. Always make sure your drinks are refilled in a timely manner and helpful with any questions. Stop by if you're in the area.

Love this place. I haven't had a bad meal ever here. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is fast even during a busy lunch rush. They offer a wide selection of food options at a cheap price. Their beer cheese burger is AWSOME! I recommend it to anyone. Although it is a bit messy, it is worth it. If it is sweets you are craving...They make their pies in house from scratch. I really can't get enough of their yummy peanut butter pie. My moms pies were never this good. If you are ever in the area, you must stop in. You won't regret it.

Freckles were very good but there was a lot of open space with my philly cheese steak sandwich. My buddy got a burger and plate was pretty barren. The qty and quality did not warrant the prices.

It's a nice little place. Choice of counter, booth, or table seating. Sari and I both ordered catfish, the platter for her, the sandwich for me. We both thought the catfish was excellent. I chose onion rings with my sandwich, and they were great, too. The platter came with hush puppies and they were made with jalapeno. That caught Sari by surprise; substitute something else if you don't like chili heat. (I liked them.) We also ordered pie for dessert and we both thought it was OK, but not great. The slices weren't plated well (see the photos, that's how it was served) and I thought the crust was a little dry. When we sat down, it was mostly empty and service was fast. It was full thirty minutes later and service slowed down a bit but there was also a large party by that time, so no real complaint; our server was very helpful. With soft drinks and dessert, our tab was $28.

I waffled on whether or not this would be a 3 star, or 4 star review. I ended up with 3 stars, but am open to revising it in the future. Here's the good parts. It has a charming decor and ambiance. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting and it is clear that this is an authentic old-time small-town diner and judging by the signs, that it's been around for 105 years. The service was welcoming and friendly. A few minor hiccups (no napkins at the tables and none brought out with my meal), but overall the servers were polite and attentive and provided good service. Here's the downside. The actual food was pretty weak. I had a ribeye sandwich, which is to say a tiny portion of ribeye steak (a paper-thin slice that could have fit in the palm of my hand), on a cheap bun (that quickly became totally soggy with juice from the meat to the point that it practically disintegrated when I picked it up and made a mess, hence why I noticed no napkins at the tables and none brought out with the meal), with a couple of slivers of sauteed onion, and the french fries were forgettable crinkle cuts, and the portion sizes left me hungry when I was done. The sandwich was also heavily salted, not just a little salt for flavor, but a bite in and thinking "wow, that's salty!" The best thing about the sandwich was that the tomato served with it was ripe, fresh and ideal. Maybe I just had a mediocre meal, but while I liked the people and the place itself, the food could use some improvement. Next time I'm in Georgetown I'll stop by and see if trying something else on the menu will be better, as they seem to be worth a second chance, but I was underwhelmed by what I had today.

Some places beg to be known about. I hate to post this review for fear it will become to busy to visit because this place is awesome! We Started with salad, clam chowder, and frickles (fired pickles). Yes, we were very hungry. Catfish plate with mashed taters and gravy, pinto beans and greens. Delicious!!!! Those greens and beans are an awesome compliment to the catfish! I had the Rachel which was also good. The fries weren't overly salty and I loved that. Ended with a piece of day old pie that they serve for 50% off as they make a large selection of pies fresh daily. We will be back for the weekend specials and salad and soup bar.

This is a main street country diner with heart. Every taste reminds me of America. They do fried food well: too well, according to my waist. The soups, sandwiches, hot browns, and pies are all delicious.

The service was very friendly. The food was great. The beer cheese wasn't my thing but my family enjoyed it. You won't know unless you give it a chance.

Was full or I would have tried the pie - which is apparently to die for! ;-)

A gem! Oyster Po-boys to die for. Check out her new cookbook for 100 year anniversary & WEG. Service excellent. Great value.

This is the seminal mid-American diner. Bean soup the way my great-grandma made it--with country HAM. Pimento cheese sandwiches. Frickles-- fried pickles. Super friendly and efficient service. It's like going to your cousin's house for dinner, with classic diner decor.
