High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Stopped by because I remembered Applebee's having a great late night bar happy hour. Was told tonight that a new company is running the chain now. Guessing they are the reason behind the updating happening recently. Seems they also decided to change HH. No big deal. Beer deals all day now. Tried the mix-n-match app sampler. Was hoping the food received a facelift too but not so much. The beer was still cold and we liked the straightforward-ness of the bartender, Kelly. Would come for the beer and service but not the food.

Been coming to this location with co-workers for happy hour after work until I took a job back in Cincinnati. I hadn't been to this location in about a year but my friend suggested we go back for old times sake. I was happy to see there had been some slight renovations particularly at the bar. My friend had already gotten a table for us so I didn't have to wait to be seated. Our waitress came and took our drink orders and then we waited....and waited for the drinks to come. We waited a long time for almost everything which is a far cry from the great service we used to receive. Our waitress was friendly and provided good service when she did take the time to come and check on us. I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff. We were brought dirty appetizer plates and then our waitress disappeared for quite a while. I finally stopped another server who looked absolutely appalled when I asked for new plates, brushed me off with a nod and kept walking. The food was okay, drinks were weak, and we left deciding it's probably time to find a better happy hour spot.

This Applebee's is just your normal Applebee's, but the service was great and the food was normal Applebee's. One thing I do recommend are their $0.45 wings. They are pretty awesome and filling.

I love this place for their "happy hour" hours! But it is simply due to their bartender Justin who works the weekend power hours. Come by and see him, grab a 2 buck PBR and get some cheap bar food.

i ordered take out, the food was ok, nothing to rant or raved about. The waitress who took my order was not that friendly, i was standing there waiting for at least 20 mins, i even tipped her for taking my oder, you would think she would offer me a glass of water, but she didn't.

Our waitress was very impolite and rude, saying whatever came up to her mind. When we ordered a medium rare steak, they gave us raw meat. Medium rare is supposed to have a pink center not look like an injured cow. We asked for a few more minutes on the grill and they came back with a black burnt piece of meat. It tasted like a shoe sole. They have no clue how to cook steaks and need to CKECK themselves and their definitions of rare, medium and medium well.

Had very good service from Ashley at the bar. Service is always quick but they get very crowded on Fri and Sat nights. Restaurant right next to CVG Airport Hilton and a few other hotels and other casual restaurants. Not fine dining, just good casual American food and the price is right.
(3)Michael P.
They serve undercooked vegetables and don't have a clue how to prepare a steak at all. My wife had to send her food back so many times she didn't get to eat at all. Everyone else was done eating so she got a to go box! They did however give us a 25 $ gift card and where understanding of the issue. I would recommend a different Applebee's !!

Slow... Slow.. Slow food took forever, fries were cold and the order was wrong. It wasn't busy, and the order wasnt difficult. Grilled Cheese with pickles, fries. Then the other was a chicken salad. They forgot the pickles, and the fries cold. Even messed up the drink, unsweetened tea, got sweet both times.

I can not figure if I should call this restaurant Applebees or AppleDUMP! I remember when Applebees came in town over 20 years ago. My first place I ever ate wings, they were fresher, thicker and juicer. Now there dryer, smaller and freezer burnt...aarrgg. I am so dissatisfied with Applebees. There main dishes even gone down hills. There portions are smaller. And most taste bland. Come on Applebees. The only highlight, is there $2 happy hour tall beers. I got to admit. They have not change the prices in years. This place is only good place to socialize and get drunk. Service is ok.
(2)Matthew L.
I think it's fair to say that Applebees is never somewhere you want to go--you end up there. If it weren't for very good happy hour specials, I wouldn't bother. Happy hour is from 3-7p and 9-close. Half off drinks (beer, wine, liquor) and half off select appetizers including wings, spinach dip, onion rings, and mozz sticks. Pretty hard to beat. A couple of apps and drinks will cost you around $15. You won't find anything close to that at Chili's or the like. Food is all ok. I always get the wings, hot with blue cheese. Wings are dry and the sauce is mild at best. It's hard to complain, though, with those prices.

Never go on a Thursday night! They have karaoke and believe it or not no one really sings. It doesn't stop them from blaring the music though! The music is TOO loud. You can barely hear yourself think let alone have a conversation.
(1)Stephen T.
I stood at the door where it says "please wait to be seated" for 5 mins. Finally walked up to the bar where the bartender was sitting with her boyfriend talking and kissing and said umm can I sit down and eat? She goes sure. So I was like ummm a menu? And anywhere? And she goes they are up there by the podium and seat yourself. Then sat here for 5 more mins, just to have the server come over and tell me I had to move because the section was closed.

This is probably the only Applebees I've ever been too but I'm pretty sure they're all the same. However I have driven by the one in Crestview Hills several times and it always looks way busier there so I'm sure the service is better at the one in Florence, or it's at least less busy which I like. The food is good, but a bit pricey in my opinion, unless you get something that have on sale. Like sometimes they have a 2 for 20.00 deal where you can go in and get 2 meals and an appetizer for 20.00. The only other time I like to go is during happy hour, when drinks and appetizers are half off. They have one thing that I really love, and that's the quesadilla burger! I've gotten it quite a few times and sometimes it's made better than others, but it's always really good so I definitely recommend it!

Went there on a Thursday night, and the place as packed. They are certainly doing some things right. Service was ok - friendly, although not quite "warm". Our two kids had the cheese pizza and the mac cheese from the kids menu. The pizza was rather uninspired and bland. The mac cheese was actually good. My wife had a grilled sirloin steak with potatoes and broccoli. She's somewhat of a tough customer as she always orders steak "rare", and the restaurants frequently get that wrong. Well, this evening Applebee's got it right and she liked her food. I had a "succulent chicken breast" that was overloaded with melted cheese and virtually disappearing tortilla strips. Not sure what those are supposed to add to the dish (they were so soggy that they really didn't do any good). So, an A on my wife's food, a C on mine. The place does get quite loud - this is not the right location for having an intimate conversation with your dining partner. It's ok as far as Applebee's go, but I've had better.
(3)Karen W.
Was at a hotel so ordered to go. I was craving a steak. Ordered it and it looked fantastic. OMG..I had to throw it out!! If you ever bought those box full of cheap steaks from the guys in the trucks? Thats what it was. Really gross and tasted like a sponge. No chew to it at all. I wasnt even sure if it was real beef and aftre a few bites had to toss it. I will NEVER eat steak at Applebees again.
(1)Glenna M.
Not that this will be shocking, but we had an awful experience here today. While being led to sit down I overheard a table being apologized to for their wait, with so many empty tables in the restaurant, this was not a good start. Our table was dirty. Strike One. Our drink order was wrong, and it took over 25 minutes to get a refill. Strike Two. We ordered thier 2 for 20 special which comes with an appetizer. After about 30 minutes the appetizer appeared with what appeared to be a manager. It was incorrect and we sent it back. He didn't appear to be disturbed by our empty drinks. Strike Three. At this point we seriously discuss just walking out. 20 minutes later , our food finally appeared sans appetizer, I request a manger again. My server asked me to cut into my steak to check the temperature. The knife could barely cut the fatty strip of meat. It was so much fat I could barely tell what the temperature was. The steamed broccoli had a fishy taste and wasn't at all edible. The mashed potato pile as big as my head was equally gross. Thank god they finally brought out the boneless wing appetizer so I could eat the celery garnish from that. Never did get a refill on my drink. Maybe the waitress assumed since I wasn't eating the food, I didn't need a drink. The manager came by finally and didn't seem at all to care about my uneaten food, empty drinks or the fact that our appetizer came out after our food. For the first time in a long long time, we didn't leave a tip. Do yourself a favor, Go somewhere else.
(1)Matt J.
Like most people, I've been to Applebees many times, and this continues to be one of the worst ones that I've eaten at. The parking lot is small and and difficult to manuever. The waiting area is non-existent, so if you have to wait for a table, good luck finding a place to stand. The restaurant is fairly loud and it's difficult to carry on a conversation. While the waiters and waitresses are pretty attentive to their tables, the food is extremely poor. My wife and I were there several weeks ago and her chicken was burned and my steak was chewy and not tasty. I realize that we're not talking about fine dining, but this was poor even by Applebees standards. If you're looking for a chain restaurant, keep looking. This Applebees isn't the place to stop.
(2)Carrie H.
The best thing about this location are the bartenders. Applebee's is Applebee's it's not take out but it's not a fancy restaurant but Justin and Jessica are the regular weekend bartenders and they are great! It's nice to have bartenders that you get to know. Originally I started going here for happy hour over other restaurants in Florence because they are non-smoking. Now that I've gotten to know the staff it's a great option all the time to sit at the bar and watch some games!
(5)Love U.
If I have read all these previous reviews from other customers, then I would not came here for dinner. I should had came to Longhorn or Outback Steak house. I came here for dinner today and ordered half baby back ribs. The kitchen guy brought out the food was absolutely cold. The baby back ribs was cook either early today with BBQ sauce on the top and brought it out. I only have a few bites and stop eating. I told the waiter about it. The manager came out and told me that she will give me a discount. Honestly, I did not care about the discount. I care about the food quality and great customer service. The manager gave me the bill $10.05. I just put out $20.00 and left. Will never return again.

Sooooo.....me and my son decided that we wanted to eat something other than fast food after our mommy and son date at the movies and we chose Applebee's for dinner. After we were seated and there for more than 5 minutes some ladies came in and sat at a table that was diagonal from us...within two minutes of them being seated they were greeted by their (our) waiter. He asked them if they were comfortable and if they wanted something to drink. He left and placed in their drink orders and them proceeded to wiped down some tables...totally ignoring me and my son. I then got up and asked for a manager. He apologized profusely and sent us another server (cause I told him I didn't want the other guy anymore). The food was delicious and they were then very attentive.

"Two for twenty" and an appetizer. "14 mins or Free" lunch. They have some great promos, but I was really disappointed. Dang, my 100th review is not so good. ugh. My chicken was burnt and the whole piece took on the burnt taste. I don't mind my food well done, but I couldn't get past this really burnt taste. Plus, how do you burn tostito strips? Maybe their warmer is a burner. The rice was really dried out. They did offer to recook it or give me something else, but my lunch break was over so I couldn't accept. They did make it right by deducting my plate. The server was really nice - Stamper was her name. Chef Ramsey would have had a fit. I know, I know, it's not fine dining.
