Average pollo con mole....extra runny without much flavor. Price fair for quality. Service not nice for any price. What draft beer do you have? Point at taps. (But I can't see them from my seat.). Put down dinner on bar, turn back, walk away. Credit card in check folder in plain sight on bar...glance at me and proceed to put away extra glassware instead of settling my bill. What?!?! Complete with crass bar-regular whose only adjective is "f***ing". Any potential ruined. Two stars because guacamole was fresh and beans were good.

Mediocre food that tastes like it was frozen and reheated. Plenty of other places to eat so i wouldnt want to return

The food here is pretty decent. I usually order the flautas, which are very tasty. With the flautas, you get 2 chicken and 2 beef. The beers are a great value, whether it is happy hour or not! The large draft beer is a huge 32 ounces. The chips and salsa are tasty. Bean and cheese dip is great, but filling.

One of our favorite casual dinner spots! There's usually a wait but we typically sit at the bar and don't have to wait. The service is great if a tiny bit slow when they're busy. They have Negra Modelo on draft and lots of margarita options, naturally. I order the Pollo Acapulco nearly every time I eat there and it is sooooo good I stuff myself until I can eat no more. Pineapple, cheese, chorizon, chicken - amazing!! My husband typically gets fajita quesadillas. It is a ton of food and it is always fantastic. This is a great 'hole in the wall' place for authentic Mexican.

We were driving back to Louisville from Cincinnati and needed a place to eat. It was a pretty generic Mexican restaurant. Good peach margarita, but the straws don't really fit into the glasses. I had a burrito and a chulupa which were tasty. No paper towels in the bathroom which was a little annoying... Other than that, it was good.

My favorite local mexican restaurant. I eat there often. Food is always very good. Friendly waiters and good service.

This is our go to restaurant! We eat here weekly. The margaritas are strong, chips, salsa and queso is delicious. I usually order chicken fajitas or the pollo loco. I ask for no oil which they always do for me.....try and eat healthier if I can. They no longer have a smoking section, which honestly I love because it's always packed so you aren't compelled to ask for first available.

My husband and I love this place! It's affordable and delicious! Both our meals and drinks come to about $20. We get the chicken chimichanga with rice. So so so so good!!!! Better than any other Mexican restaurant I've had in the area! Our waiter was excellent. Will be going back!!!

Pretty decent Tex-Mex! I accompanied the wife to Florence for lunch one day and we decided on the 4.5 star Mexican place. Their lunch fajitas were only $5, but they had a lunch special that consisted of scrambled eggs, chorizo, beans, rice and tortillas for $7. Um. Yes. The portion size was impressive and the food was quite good. Wife's carnitas were very good as well. Overall, I'd give it 4.5 stars. But I can't. So....

Hands down my favorite tex-mex location in Northern Kentucky. These guys get it right by giving you huge menu full of options, and every dish is a large size so you get more than you pay for! I think the prices are more than reasonable for what you receive. Service here is very good too, I have never had a bad visit. It can get busy but they are always coming back around to make sure if you need drinks or anything, and generally the other waiters are looking out for each other - yay, teamwork! My recommended dishes are the fish quesadillas and the camarones al mojo de ajo.

Omg I'm from the west coast and I was scared of not being able to fine an authentic Mexican restaurant in Kentucky. I found this place! It is fantastic authentic Mexican food. They have 60 ounce margaritas! We have been back 5+ times in the last month. Its our new spot! The prices and food are unbeatable

Florence is a metropolis of phone stores, chinese restaraunts, chains, chains, and more chains. Therefore, when I was there this time, I wanted to try somewhere local and good and break out of the Chipotle standard (not to diss Chip, of course!) I've heard many good things about the Acapulco in Independence, so we ventured into this one. It's a pretty standard-looking Tex-Mex restaurant - what else should be expected right? We were STARVED, so we said first available, which was the smoking section. Oh well, it wasn't that bad. A prompt server was with us and we ordered Margaritas, which were 25% off. I usually stick to beer with food, but heck, when in Rome eh? They were huge, frozen, tasty, and full of 'quilla. Oh yes were those babys strong for only 4 something a pop. While he took our drink order, a basket of chips and salsa magically appeared at our table - and this was still less than a minute after being seated, so they were already doing well. The salsa was some quality stuff. They have a pretty large menu and I'll admit, I hadn't had Mexican in what seemed like years, so I was almost lost when it came to ordering. There were a few different Enchiladas where you chose between beans or rice (one came with both), and I ordered the Enchiladas with guac. One pork, one beef, and one chicken. The pork was by far the best, followed by the chicken, and the beef was okay. They were freakin good, I'll just be sure to not get beef next time. Friendly, quick service at a good location with tasty margs and quality food. I'll be back.

Went there for lunch and definitely will be going back. My wife had the burrito and tamale lunch special and loved it. My lunch quesadilla was excellent and I will certainly order it again. The salsa was very good, with enough bite to make it interesting but not everwhelming.

I like this place a lot. I swear I am addicted to the chicken and rice soup... the stuff is wonderful. Great shrimp cocktail also. They can be a bit heavy on their sauces but the flavors are great. Nightly specials are very good as well. I have also enjoye their margaritas which are very flavorful. Not as authentic as El Oasis in terms of the menu but still better than most of the others in town....

For many years I had been plagued by the cold hearted fact that I just could not find a decent Mexican restaurant in NKY. I had tried just about every restaurant north of I-275 but when I moved to Florence a group of us when to Acapulco when it was located at the Ramada Inn off of 42. This was awhile ago for those of you that can remember it being there, five years ago I think...maybe six. They cramped all of that delicious, spicy goodness into that little tiny space and made the best of. I weenied out and just got the tacos since I had already caved into the devastating fact that Kentucky could not produce a quality Mexican restaurant. The tacos were surprisingly fantastic! In shock, I thought perhaps it was just the tacos so I decided to make the short car trip back to the restaurant the next day to try something different. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes and it has fondly become one of my all time favorite meals. In short, I'm hooked. My husband and I go here at least once a week and we literally start to crave Acapulcos. I have ordered dozens of different items off of their menu and have never once been disappointed by what I received. The staff is friendly and hilarious and I have to give major props to the waiter who carries all of the dishes up his arm right up to his chin. When the moved to their new location on Connector Drive not only did they triple their space but they were able to use their creative licenses and paint beautiful murals on the walls. I like what they've done with the place. It's not in your face like some of the other places are. It's cozy and they usually always have a game on the TV. Their mile high margaritas are to die for as are their dinner and lunch specials. They have the best salsa I've ever had from a restaurant if you like that picante style like my husband and I do. I don't like that chunky pico style with all of the onions and other questionable green stuff. It's also relieving that they went to all NON SMOKING since finding a seat in the non-smoking area was a challenge at dinner time. They get good business for a reason, folks. Some of the best items on the menu are pretty much any enchilada item, their carnitas Acapulco is pretty freakin' awesome as are their fajitas (particularly the Fajitas California with pineapple and bacon). My husband really enjoys their chimichangas which are very different from the only version I had at Chi-Chi's. Their beans and rice are fantastic as well. Did I mention that the prices are amazing for the amount of food you get? My husband and I order the cheese sauce with our chips, order two huge entrees and drinks and our bill is about $22. This is pretty good for a Friday date night in my opinion.

Drinks are good. Salsa good. Veggie fajitas are great. They've started charging $1 for another serving of chips. Went here for a while, but have switched back to Rio Grande (since they've gotten themselves back together).

I don't know how this place has been getting 4 & 5 stars. I was totally underwhelmed by the Fiesta Burrito & their guac is easily some of the worst I've ever had. It was dirty & unkempt, not to mention the fact that it is mind boggling to me that smoking inside a restaurant is still an option. There were two redeeming aspects of my dining experience: - The chips are really good, some of the better I've had from a Mexican restaurant. - I loved their Mexican rice as well. Needless to say, with so many better Mexican restaurants to choose from, I don't plan on returning anytime soon.

Food is lousy...from a can. Service was marginal. Salsa and chips were great. That is the only thing I can say positive.

Out of all the mexican resturants in the area this one by far is my favorite. Everytime we stop by we are promptly greeted and seated in a timely manner. Always get a basket of chips and some really good salsa within minutes of sitting down at the table. I usually end up getting the acapulco taco sald and its "large and in charge", I usually can't eat it all. The margarita's are the bomb! They pack a punch for sure! And they usually have a daily special on their drinks to boot. I frequented this location many a time when it was Rio Grande and must say that these guys do it better. And it must say something about them when everytime we go (usually 2-3 times a month) they are busy busy busy any nite of the week.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Food is always great and quick to the table. Yolanda is a gem. We will wait extra time just to have her as our waitress.

The food is fine at this restaurant--much better than the old Rio Grande location that was here--the portions are entirely TOO big! However, each time we've gone, we have the unfortunate experience of getting the same server, who acts like we're a bother. Each time we enter, we're greeted happily by a host, who then seats us in "Lurch's" section. Last night was no different--I "almost" asked if we could move, but considering it was just us and one other group of diners in the place, I thought that would be rude. I don't know if he doesn't like women, maybe? It's usually my mother, my toddler and I--his demeanor is immediately gruff and rushed, as if you interrupted him from something more important (I mostly saw him folding flatware and talking and laughing in Spanish, watching a soccer game). But, back at our table, he was devoid of any type of social etiquette. The restaurant has a large, detailed menu,so you want to take a little time to look it over. He circled us like sharks, then stopped coming over, then eventually, we had to hail him down. He said, briskly, "you decide?" and then instead of picking up my menu after I'd laid it on the table, he snapped his fingers at me to "give it to him". And I did. I was both angry that he "snapped" his fingers at me like I was a dog, AND that I did what he requested...about this time, I had to ask for chips and salsa. I was told. "they're coming.." After bringing us our food, he never came back--for any reason--no refills, not to ask if we wanted another Tuesday night special Sangria, nothing. Finally finished with dinner, (I ordered the Fajita Quesadilla--huge, but pretty good, honestly), he came to collect our plates and AGAIN, pointed to the plate and gestured for ME to pick it up and hand it to him. This time I didn't. Look, my husband is a server, so I'm all about being polite and assisting--I even clean up after my toddler so they don't have to, but in all honesty, this man is the WORST. And his tip reflected that...

We started eating here when they replaced the old Rio Grande which moved to Houston Road. The food is very good, service very good and friendly and management talkes time to talk to their customers. It is an awesome value for the money. We go about 2-3 times a month!

Went there on Friday night got seated right away. There were 6 of us. Dinner was good, they brought the bill and never came back. We waved them down because we wanted refills the waiter then continued to ask us to leave because they needed to seat a family of 12, (our table didn't even hold 12). I thought that was the rudest thing I had ever heard of. We tried to talk to manager but he didn't understand very well. I will never go there again and we have told everyone we know about this.

The margarita's are tasty, but they need to downsize their menu. I've been there and have gotten great service and I've gotten bad service. They are always packed Friday and Saturday evenings.

Delicious food!! Never had a bad meal!! Their service is excellent. Try the fajitas or the enchiladas....delicious!! The chicken burrito a la carte is my favorite small meal. Salsa is fresh and the queso is not runny. Fine Mexican food!!

I was VERY worried about the mass people coming up to check in and I was so worried the wait would be forever!!!! But for a Friday night and the "long" line there was no wait! Very pleased with the place. The looks of it the staff and of course the food! All of it. Set happy as well return for sure. For this being my first time here I give it give stars

We went there last night as el rio on Houston is not serving alcohol right now (!?). The place was crowded. Ten minute wait so we sat at the bar. Chips are standard. Cold. Not salt. I've had lots better. The salsa is good. The margaritas are premixed and very strange unnatural colors. It's ok. The fajitas are very large. We ordered steak but got a mixture. It's a typical Mexican place. Tab was reasonable. Nothing to write home about. We won't go again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
