Took the family out for lunch and ordered 4 bento boxes - all Katsu and Teriyaki. A lot of food, worth the price of $11.99. Very tasty too.

Went here a few times and I always ate so much until I fell into a sushi coma. They already know what I want. Sushi is well done and fresh, one can taste the freshness at first bite. Prices are decent. Staff always friendly. I would say this is my favorite Sushi joint in the area.

This is the best sushi in Etown. Don't waste your time with the other places if you actually want good stuff. We came from Hawaii before this and Sim is doing it right.

My boyfriend and I just left the restaurant two minutes ago (1 June 2015 @ 1930 or 7:30 PM). When we came in the door, the waitress passed us two times and looked at us (also made eye contact). We had to stop one of the waitresses so we could be seated. She suggested that we sit at the bar because it would take about 10 minutes to clean off the only empty table. We sat at the bar area and it took them a maximum of three minutes to clean the table. We had to stop one of the waitresses and ask for two menus because they did not give us menus once we sat down. The way she handed me the menus, it was as if she didn't want to touch me or something. As we looked at the menu, two different waitresses just kept walking by us, not saying anything. We sat there for 15 minutes as we overheard them debate as to who would take our orders from behind the register. Once we saw them seat another couple (with menus and utensils) and overheard them ask them for their drink order, we decided to leave. This is no way to treat customers, whether busy or not. If you didn't want to serve us, next time just be honest about how you really feel and turn us away.

Thanks to our beautiful waitress, our Mother's Day dinner (celebrated early since I live out of town) was PERFECT! The place was clean and comfy, as stated earlier, our waitress was kind, friendly, and helpful. Our food was beautiful and tasted wonderful! We had the shrimp tempura; the house salad with ginger dressing and a seaweed salad; the VIP Roll; Lobster Roll; and the Cucumber Passion. ALL of it was delicious! Anyone who gives this place anything less that five stars had a bad day!

I love this quaint restaurant. It is the best sushi around. My favorite is the Cool Springs Roll, but there is nothing I have tried there that hasn't been great. Also the servers are terrific as well!

Sim is a decent Sushi place. The rolls aren't nearly as good as other Sushi places in town. They were a great place to get sushi because they were cheaper than the rest by quite a bit. Now I can no longer recommend this place as they have raised the prices to the same level as the other superior sushi restaurants.

Best sushi in Hardin County! It's hard to find good, fresh sushi in KY, but this place does it. Love the portion sizes and l REALLY love the prices!!! I had 4 different rolls (my favorite being the VIP Roll). My dad had the ribeye steak dish. He inhaled it LoL. I'll be back ASAP.

Best fried rice I have ever tasted! Nice restaurant, great staff and reasonable prices.

Good food, quaint coffee shop type atmosphere. No big hibachi set up to get in the way. The sashimi was thickly sliced and lots other roll options. Service was a little lacking, but not rude, just seemed inexperienced with a full house. Will certainly return and hope the business makes it

So - other reviews give a good impression of the sushi at this informal, café-style restaurant. Rolls are relatively well made, certainly better than the grocery-store quality sushi available elsewhere in this area, but certainly not comparable to sushi available in anything other than central-bumble KY. (A tip for those a little overwhelmed by the sushi order form - there are descriptions of each of the rolls on the last two pages of the menu.) That said, I wanted to try out the "other stuff" - appetizers and entrees from their comparatively long menu. The results were fairly good, again, especially for Hardin County. The gyoza filling was tasty, as was the shumai; next time, though, I'm going to ask if they can steam the (otherwise pan-fried) gyoza, because the wrappers were really tough and not very appetizing. The (steamed) shumai were much better. Entrees come with soup (miso or house), salad, plain fried rice, a veg mix, and noodles. Seriously. That's *AND* not *OR*. All for between $12 - $20-something, depending selection. It is a huge amount of food, especially if you like to add a roll or appetizer to your meal. If you don't like leftovers, they also offer rice bowls with various proteins added. The house soup was absolutely amazing: one of the most flavorful yet delicate broths I've ever had. The salad was a typical Japa-rican salad nod to an iceberg mix, but the fabulous house ginger dressing made even a simple salad not to be missed. Both the soup and salad dressing are totally crave-worthy. Wide, flat noodles were tasty (and while I'm not going on record as saying they were house-made, they were, at least, soft, not boxed, dry), as was plain fried rice, which had a great texture. Veggies were a steamed carrot / broccoli mix: fine, and fresh. As far as the proteins (including the (Ton)Katsu), I've had the steak, chicken, shrimp, and pork, all were well-cooked, minimally seasoned quality meat, fish, and poultry. Be prepared: otherwise larger meats are precut into bite-sizes before cooking, the side benefit is each piece is carefully cut to minimize cartilage or other gristle, though it can be a little unexpected. Without the soup or ginger dressing, my rating of Sim would hover around 3.5 stars, but these two standouts will definitely bring me back! Can't wait to try their bulgogi next time. Servers are trying, but are fairly inexperienced and somewhat awkward (excepting the sushi dude working behind the sushi bar); frankly, the café layout & small, but multipurpose space does them no favors (though it certainly is stylish & pleasant). The cafe-style space just translates more as a good place to get a couple of sushi rolls or grab carryout (as tons of customers do!), not a place to drop over 60$ on a fabulous meal (w/o sake or any other alcohol) for 2. No wine or beer on Sundays. One last thing: do watch out for cooked items, as some are served hotter (temperature-wise) than molten lava. Mama is all for serving hot food hot, but yikes.

Growing up Asian and around Japanese food there is a level of expectation when going to a restaurant. SIM meets that expectation. Portion size is good for the price. The atmosphere is nice. Although it's tucked out of the way from regular traffic this place will remain busy with excellent word-of-mouth advertising. I have gone 3x already since they have opened. This is my go-to place for local Sushi. The service is o.k., the menu options are good. This is not a teppanyaki (cook at your table) type of restaurant. It is designed as a casual atmosphere to enjoy good sushi and other hot food items. Too bad they don't offer a military discount.

I was excited to try Sim after the good reviews that were posted. I do agree with the negatives--the wait staff seem to be pretty overwhelmed. Although they were nice, they were running well behind. By the time our server was ready, we were ready to order everything at once. We both ordered green tea and house salads. He ordered the combo udon (which came with the miso soup) and I had a Louisville roll. The green tea was room temperature. So it couldn't even get cooler with the rest of the cups poured. The salads were watery. The miso soup was really good. The udon was greasy. And my roll came about 25 minutes after his udon was served. When my roll was served, they didn't bring any soy sauce or a dipping bowl (which I usually dilute the wasabi paste in). Then I was asked if I wanted "low fat" or "regular" soy sauce? She meant "low sodium" but I would think at that point, she would have just put both on the table. We have been to Sims, Ginza, and Kanzai and prefer Ginza for sushi. The prices at all three seem comparable for the rolls and sides. Maybe the lunch is better?!

Fantastic sushi and steak. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge!

Great prices and quality. The Bento boxes at lunch are huge and very good. Sushi is well-prepared and fresh. I strongly recommend trying the seaweed salad, because it is amazingly good. Bring your appetite, because this place is awesome. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable.

Delicious food, great sushi, reasonable prices... What more could you ask for?! The Kentucky roll was delicious and the Bu-Goh-Gi (excuse the spelling) was awesome and filling!

Came here 3 months ago to get uni that was my gf's favorite side and they didn't have it. That was fine but then came back for my buddies bday and ordered uni again (that was still on the menu) and the chef snuffled like I was supposed to know they STILL didn't have it. THEN TAKE IT OFF THE MENU! Next, just "happened" to forget my gf's salad and soup after I became sour at them for leaving an item on the menu when I bet they haven't had it since I last came here. Finally, do not come here on your bday bc they don't do anything for you, nor do they try to do anything for you for your bday. After asking around to the other waitresses if Sim does anything for bdays and them saying no, nothing happens to you on your special day. Not impressed, not happy, not satisfied, and definitely nothing was done to make me any of these!

Good sushi, outstanding prices. Just like all places, some rolls are better than others but the quality is good. The crazy roll and the cucumber passion are my favorites.

Sim Steak and Sushi should be ashamed of themselves. Any place that has sushi this fresh, in Kentucky, must be doing something illegal. For my first visit, I was beyond pleased. I walked in, and the place was about half full, at 5:15 PM on a Friday night. The "hostess" was busy, so I started walking towards a table. At that point, I was seated at the table I was standing beside. I was given my drink, and a menu. After a few minutes, I must have had a confused look on my face, because my Waitress Cecilia asked if she could help. I advised that this was my first visit, and needed some assistance. She picked out a few things that she liked, so I ordered them. I wanted a steak, and did not see them, so I told her I wanted a NY Strip, medium rare. In about ten minutes or so, she brought my sushi order. I ordered the California roll, which I am very familiar with. I ordered a veggie roll, just to try, and I ordered the Rainbow Roll, which Cecilia recommended. All three rolls were great!! About five minutes later, my steak came out. Now, I was expecting an 8, 10, or 12 ounce steak. However, what I received were steak PIECES. They cut the steak into bite size pieces, before they cook it. So my steak was ready to eat, literally. Well, after one bite, I was hooked. It was perfectly prepared, minimally seasoned, and exactly medium rare. Long story short, somehow, I finished my steak and sushi, loving every bite of the experience. So much so that I ordered another four rolls to take home, for snacks on Saturday. I will be back, and most likely, within a few days. As a side note, by the time I departed, not only was I stuffed, but so was the restaurant. By 5:30 or so, people were standing in the doorway, waiting to be seated. And, no one seemed eager to leave due to the wait. Very nice.

Sim has the best sushi in the area. The flavor and the quality is hard to beat unless you go to Louisville and even there Sim would be a big competitor. The Crunch Munch roll is fantastic! It's slightly spicy, a little sweet, just yum!

I saw they had good reviews so I figured I'd give them a try. Very good sushi at a very reasonable price. Easily could have charged more. Very nice staff.
