I have to rescue this place from the two previous reviews. Some points are valid - the hot sandwiches are cooked in the microwave and the sandwich bread is not artisan quality. But, what you get is a decent sandwich lunch for two for under $15. Ingrediants were fresh, service was friendly and sanitation was adequate. Based on the other reviews I ordered a cold-cut roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. We split a fruit box with fresh fruit, (it was August in KY so there is no shortage of fresh fruit!). Hey, it hits the spot - nothing special but decent fare.

Friendly staff, good food and country atmosphere. They do microwave the meatloaf patty... But it is delicious. I would recommend for a lunch above fast food, at a good price and served w a smile. Place was packed at 12:30...standing room only. The staff knew everyone and there was a good neighborhood vibe.

Here conducting work and family related tasks. As a YELPer I checked out the Deli's in town because of a desire for lite lunch after the holidays. I had a Reuben ($4.97) corn beef, melted Swiss cheese, rye bread and 1,000 Island dressing. I was disappointed. The bread appeared to have been purchased at Wal-Mart and came with no garnish or pickle. While the ambience is cute and very friendly, the overall price for value was less that I would have expected from "America's best hometown."

This is my favorite spot for lunch! It's quick and the food is so good; just like you would make at home but so much better somehow. The Big Daddy Club is my favorite sandwich and I love Gina's homemade soups. It is a family-run establishment, so the service is always pleasant and familiar. Highly recommended!

Came here on a recommendation and was let down big time. Place looked full of small town charm when we walked in, and the menu was chock full of delicious sounding items. However, for two major reasons I have to give Melton's Deli the lowest ratings Yelp has to offer. First, they didn't have a real kitchen to cook their meat and instead use a microwave for all of their cooking. I ordered a meatloaf sandwich expecting a nice, warm and hearty piece of meatloaf, not a microwaved mush patty. Second, and this warrants a score of 1 on its own, was the complete lack of any sanitation controls on the part of the restaurant. The girl preparing my sandwich was completely gloveless, still wearing jewelry (haven for germs!), and touched anything and everything around her without any thought to wash her hands before putting the meatloaf and vegetables on the bun. The gumbo soup was mediocre, probably microwaved some premade gumbo from a grocery store. I think the only redeeming qualities of my meal were the free macadamia nut cookie that came with it and the pleasant demeanor of the staff. Would not eat here again.
