Burke's is a multigenerational family-owned business, which is located on Main St. in Danville, KY. Their technique has not changed with the times, for their from-scratch methodology cannot be surpassed. The breads/treats - and the price point - are all spot on.

I grew up in danville and one thing I always have to have when I come home is Burkes. My go to is the chocolate cake donut, chocolate delight, and fondant drops. And for an event where you want to share the deliciousness, I also have to get a Congo Pie, which is not a pie at all. It's really a big version of a chocolate delight, so it's chocolate cake with amazing vanilla cream filling and chocolate icing. They also have some great deli items like pimento cheese and egg salad. Bascially, nothing is bad. And the prices are so good you can try something new everyday...then gain about 20 pounds :)

I always say it's a sin to be in Danville, and not stop at Burkes. Everything they have is fresh and good. It is Very well priced. Cash or checks only.
(5)Rylan L.
Their pumpkin and cream cheese doughnuts are my favorite. Be advised it's cash only, but they do have an ATM in their shop.

Right across the street from the park - perfect for picking up sweet treats and enjoying them under the big shade trees. We fell in love with Danville in an afternoon - Burke's three dozen brownies for $7 (!!!) certainly helped!
(5)Andre B.
I grew up eating amazing treats, gingerbread men, and dinner rolls from Burke's - highly recommended!
(5)Caren L.
I have been going to the bakery since I was a little kid. A dozen doughnut holes on the way to school was a highly anticipated and much appreciated special treat. Later on life I've come to appreciate as well that everything is reasonably and fairly priced. Not to mention that I love knowing that it is one of those all too few institutions that is, always has been, and as far as I know for the foreseeable future, will continue to be family owned local gem.

I'm not sure one could come up with anything negative to say about this Danville institution. The quality is consistently top notch and the pricing is incredible (especially for out-of-towners). I can personally recommend the macaroon cookies, chocolate doughnuts and gingerbread men but anything you can purchase here is outstanding. Throw in the small town ambiance and friendly staff and I'd put Burke's Bakery up against any other B&D I've ever been to. P.S.- bring back Burke's - Danville Cafeteria

I'd give them 20 stars if I could. My ex-husband was from Danville and we went to Burke's Bakery a lot. My daughter loved the salt rising bread, butter flake rolls, and gingerbread men so much that we now have them ship the goodies to us in Chicago.

Some of the best pastries and donuts I have ever had. Cherry danish was awesome. Red velvet donuts with cream cheese icing were a big hit. Cheap! It is a bakery. I did not see any evidence of a "delicatessen."
(5)Amandalin R.
This is a Danville staple. You can't beat it. Donuts, pies, cakes, salt-rising bread...and my favorite gingerbread men in the world! And you want to talk about cheap?! Look no further!

My first visit encounter with Burke's Bakery was one spring day after dutifully spending the week reading Reflections on the Revolution in France. After picking through grandiose visions of noble aristocracy, I yearned for a rejuvenating walk down quaint Main Street. You can imagine my surprise to find Mr. Burke waiting for me in downtown Danville! Of course I was compelled to investigate this curious find and was immediately greeted with the smell of a whole manner of freshly baked delicatessen. A quick survey of the smorgasbord revealed homemade cakes, pastries and candies made the old fashioned way. Ole Edmund would surely approve. 10 minutes and two glorious powdered doughnuts later, my feelings toward Mr. Burke had warmed considerably. Needless to say, there were many more afternoon trips made to Burke's that semester. Fortunately for my wallet, Burke's prices are downright cheap... whether you're an 18th century French peasant or an 18 year-old liberal arts major. Sorry Marie Antoinette; it looks like we common folk WILL have our cake and eat it too.

Burke's is a Kentucky classic!

Everything they bake is wonderful! Call in for special orders, also.
