McAlister's Deli is an decent lunch place. I struggle with the value you get for the dollars you spend here but the food is usually pretty good. The people are working hard here but you seem to wait a long time during lunch for your food to be ready. So many options made to order, I guess it makes sense. They have a nice outside space with outside heaters for the cooler days. Overall I still prefer panera over McAlister's but this is a good place for lunch if you aren't out during the normal lunching hours.

I totally agree with the reviews on this place being dirty. It really is a wonder how they get away with it and still the place is packed. We were there for lunch one day and one of waiters spilled an entire tray of soups, drinks and sandwiches. It went everywhere. All over patrons. All over the floor. Etc. It sat there about five minutes before anyone appeared to clean it up. When they did, it was one person who appeared with a single rag. They surveyed the situation and disappeared. It was literally a twenty minute process and it was disgusting. Several people noted it had ruined their lunch and they wouldn't be back. For mediocre over priced food, they need to work on the environment.

I really love this place. It's quirky. It reminds me of having a picnic with their decor. The nachos are amazing and huge! Very casual setting.

****THIS IS A DESSERT REVIEW ONLY 4.5 stars for dessert **** Man is it difficult to find a place around here that is known for a good dessert and a cup of coffee! Atmosphere 3 star at best - at night. This place is certainly NOT the atmosphere I was seeking for a somewhat intimate dessert experience but beggars can't be choosers. Almost searing bright fluorescent lights, bright white and kelly green ceramic tiles and formica galore. But, first and foremost we arrived for a good slab of dessert on a late(r) evening. Bad news - no decaf at 8:45p. Offered to make but passed. Wished I hadn't because the water w/ limestone and lemon slice was truly god awful - though I'm sure they make the java with it as well. So that's most of the not so great. On to the better... I was craving a killer slice of cheesecake - and the cashier (no waitstaff) had no clue if desserts were made onsite. The kitchen preppers informed us they were not - as everything appears to be made or broken down offsite, plated and plastic wrapped and shipped to store. Oh well - would have been nice to know if was Carnegie Deli sourced - which is what I craved. The so much better half ordered Carrot Cake and I the Cheesecake. Her carrot cake was absolutely extraordinary. Schnikies I wish I had gotten that!! Moist, heavy - tons of carrot, nuts and spice - killer cream cheese frosting. Delish and nearly large enough to share - though she really didn't want to... My cheesecake - you could ALMOST have sold me that it came from Carnegie's. Darn good imposter. Would have been smashing w/ a hot cuppa joe. Overall - the dessert was a steal at about $4 each and worth what I'd normally pay at a fine dining, linen tablecloth establishment $6-8 each.

What a disappointment!! I stopped in here to grab a late lunch w/ my husband and was just totally disgusted with this place. The floors looked like they hadn't been mopped or swept in at least 2 days. Everything we touched had a gross, sticky, dirty feeling to it. Like no one wiped anything down. I ordered a baked potato and the sour cream was even bad. The only thing I'll come back in here for is the sweet tea. I'll grab one while I'm shopping in Crestview Hills Towne Center. Just do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs!

I'm glad I can tweak the menu and make vegan salad and vegan chili. The vegetable sandwich has great flavor even without cheese. A decent place for vegetarian and vegan on the road.

Visited 12/17/2009. My wife and I ordered a 'pot roast spud', 'New Yorker', macaroni & cheese, and a bread bowl of broccoli cheese soup. They took our order and we went to sit down but it was hard to find a table that wasn't dirty. We sat down at a table that looked clean but once we sat down, it was clear that it wasn't. Not a huge deal. I sipped on my sweet tea which was excellent. Ten minutes after sitting down, a guy came out and told my wife that they were out of the soup she ordered. She settled for the broccoli and cheese soup. Not a huge deal. Twenty minutes after ordering, the food finally came out and the first thing I noticed was how underwhelming the New Yorker sandwich looked. For $6, I expected a little bit more meat. The bread was nice but the sandwich itself wasn't worth the price tag. My mac and cheese was actually the first thing I took a bite of... and it was ice cold. Seriously, I've never been served something so cold in my life. Disappointing. My wife wasn't pleased with the bread bowl full of broccoli & cheese soup. Usually bread bowls a slightly toasted, but not this one. The soup inside the bread bowl wasn't good either. We decided to split a pot roast baked potato. This was the saving grace for our meal. It was very good! It was a little on the peppery side, but hey I like pepper anyway. Bottom line, i don't think I would make a point to return to McAlister's Deli. If I did end up there with some friends for some reason, I know I'd enjoy the pot roast spud and the sweet tea.

Lunch was mediocre. Had a "pick 2," half a sandwich and half a salad for $6.79. The salad, Savannah Chopped, was great and of decent size. The sandwich, Horseradish Roast Beef and Cheddar, was ridiculous - there were two quarter-sized (thickness too) pieces of beef on the whole thing. The bread was great, but . . . It was in no way an acceptable roast beef sandwich. You don't expect this from a deli, for sure! Service was fast, and it was noon, and reasonable busy.

I stick to my original review...you must hit it early at lunchtime. But, I had a great Southwestern chicken salad there recently! Don't know if it was the spicy seasoning on the chicken strips or the salad dressing (kind of a spiced up Thousand Island), but it was very tasty and just the correct amount of hot! I also received great service this visit! Employees came by twice to see if I was doing ok and even refilled my iced tea!

I had a side salad, chicken & dumpling soup, and a 4 cheese griller this weekend, and I was not disappointed. All of the above items tasted great, and were a good value for the price paid. Although I thought that everything tasted good, I would have preferred one of their delicious spuds to the grilled cheese sandwich. My father-in-law attempted to order a spud from a menu that they had in a booth, but that spud option was no longer available (they had an old menu). The place was packed, but it still didn't take long for our food to come out. I would definitely come back again!

Went there on Sunday, 5/24/2015. We were promptly greeted and waited on by a cheerful and patient young woman. Patient, because I changed my mind a couple of times. We were given a buzzer, however a kind fellow delivered our food to our table. I ordered the veggie potato. It was excellent. My companion ordered the veggie soup which had a little too much barley. We also had the entree veggie salad which was excellent, only problem when I raised it up to put it in a to go bowl, there was a piece of hair stuck on the dish under the lettuce. Yuck, I'm still hoping I didn't eat some other pieces. But who knows what icky stuff we unknowingly eat on a daily basis. My companion had a dirty knife and I had a dirty fork, thankfully we had extra ones. My belly is full and my lemonade was very good.

Soup and a sandwich, WAIT- SPUD!!!!!! Another chain, I know, but when it comes to massive, loaded baked potatoes - there is no stoppin' this chica! If your looking for something in lew of carb heaven their are always the three 's's soups, sandwhiches, and salads. Or combos- half tater and salad, or half sandwhich and soup- my second favorite. Being a sandwhich fanatic, these bread hugged goodies fit the bill. Reasonably fresh ingredients, bread selection, personalize it or throw it on the grill. I sport the turkey club when my broc-cheddar is on the menu. The soups are good, but being a soup maker I find the typical issues with any restaurant soup - salty and made with frozen veggies, but for sandwhich dippin' these do just fine. Check out the nearest one in your area!

Try this place the next time you're in the mood for Panara! It has great salads and sandwiches along with some fantastic lemonade. I've been to this location several times (not at peak hours) and the service is always fast and friendly. I especially like that they have covered outdoor seating so you don't get rained on or sun burnt while enjoying your yummy food.

The potatoes are huge, you will definitely be surprised the first time you order one. They are definitely not cheap, but does taste pretty good. You can't go wrong with any sandwich / sub combo. I like the spicy southwest chicken sandwich and spud max.

Good sandwiches, decent prices, and yummy sides. You would think I'd give McAlister's a little better rating. However, after numerous visits to this regional chain of sandwich shops since its opening in Crestview Hills, I've realized that the slow-service is never going to improve. The last few times I've eaten there our sandwiches have taken at least twenty minutes (these are cold cut sandwiches, let me remind you) and once or twice over twenty. In McAlister's defense, the restaurant is teeming with people at lunch time, but I tend to think the problem rests with their inefficient delivery system. When you place your order, you get a numbered placard that you put on your table so that the server can locate you. Yet, most of the time servers wonder around unsuccessfully searching for folks, then orders start to back-up. If you do go there (not during your lunch hour, trust me), try the Sweetberry Chicken or Turkey Melt, as both are pretty good. And I've also enjoyed their potato salad.

Great place for lunch or a light dinner. The giant baked potato's are fantastic. My favorite thing is the sweet tea, their tea card is nice. I usually go through quite a few during the summer just running in when I'm in the area just to grab one.
