Great local place for good burgers and hotdogs. Love the chili dogs. Parking is first come first serve so you better be prepared to drive around in circles if you go during busy hours. Waitresses are friendly and hardworking so tip them. Also you can call in your order and they will bring it to your car instead of having to go to the walk up window.

It's probably really interesting if you didn't grow up in small-town Eastern Kentucky. The root beer was tasty and the place was packed. The menu is quite small. The chili dog was ok, it was your basic church potluck chili - basically what you ate at every High School football game as a kid.

I'm a Yankee. There. It's out in the open. Visiting Whitley County for a wedding was a joy, but the Root Beer Stand was...awesome. An American Icon, if you will. What a great experience! Home grown, locally run, lovely car hop service, and some staple grub to make the whole family happy. The Chili Dog is out of hand! The rootbeer float is also worth mentioning. The nostalgia of businesses such The Root Beer Stand is slowly disappearing as generations pass, but this little diamond in the rough can be an integral part of summer memories for many more decades to come in Whitley. Southern charm, small town, family feel. God Bless America!

I agree with the others. The quality has went down over the years. Good onion rings and the best root beer if you drink it there.

uhhh, sorry, nothing special here. Probably an old Dog n Suds. root beer was nothign special although I do like that they served it without ice. Even then, it was just like canned A&W. Have had better. The burgers were also nothing special. Have had better burgers at a good old dog n suds. Onion rings were good, but the fries again... eh... Service was fine, car hop was friendly. Would not go again if I found myself int he area. Find something else.

Root Beer Stand is an institution in Corbin. It is the epitome of what a classic drive in is. They craft their own root beer which is top notch and all the food is of good quality at a very reasonable price. Don't expect the greatest meal of your life here, but go in expecting a classic drive in experience and you won't be disappointed. Just be prepared to wait, the stand is always packed.

You really have to get the footlong or a cheeseburger to get the best of the root beer stand. This place is a local legend and a true gem. If you want something really good you'll find all the favorites. Wonderful nostalgic drive-in.

Everyone and their brother tells me this is the best place to eat in Corbin and the best burgers ever. I have yet to agree. this is defiantly a place where the opinion is to each their own. In my case, I avoid it at all costs!

The root beer is top notch. The burgers are good, but I think that they have lost some quality over the years. This is a must try if you find yourself in Corbin.

If you're really into the whole nostalgic drive-in type restaurant, and you live in the area, you basically HAVE to go to this place. Even if you're not, you still need to go. They have really good food, and they make their own root beer, and it's pretty damn good if I say so myself. The only problems you'll encounter are A) It's only open during the summer and B) when it IS open, it's ALWAYS packed. Good luck finding a place to park.

My friend and I made a stop here on the last day of an epic road trip. Without directions, we kind of just took the road off the highway and kept driving towards downtown Corbin...luckily, this place is kind of hard to miss. Not realizing that it had to be partially up for the tray to stay perched on my car window, I spilled some of my meal into the car. Mishap aside, the root beer float we got was delicious, although, really, how could a root beer and ice cream not be?! The bbq was so-so by Southern standards but certainly no worse than your avg fast food pulled pork. For a slice of old school America (which is just what we were looking for), definitely detour here on an otherwise boring drive up I-75.
