Food was amazing, did a review awhile back, about how expensive the small portion was, however, the owner of the buisness reached out and corrected the slight mistake. Id give more then 5 stars if i could just for the fact, customer service is outstanding. Thank you for being apart of the community tea bayou, i will be back with friends.

On a trip to Nashville I stopped in Bowling Green for a bite to eat and found Tea Bayou. This place is a gem and I would be here weekly if I lived close! Not only do they have an assortment of tea (over 50 craft teas!) and many other drinks but they have sweets and amazing food to top things off! I got the Crawfish Etoufee and it was delightful. My friend got a burger and it was great! For drinks I got a mango green tea fruit smoothie and my friend got the drink special of the day. I want to say it was a frozen lavender latte? All I know for sure is it was pure heaven! The girl working there was so nice and even gave each of us a generous sample of the others drink! I loved the décor and there was local art for sale all over the walls. If you are ever in the area stop by Tea Bayou.

Great little surprise on our trip to WKU. Decided to have lunch after moving our son into WKU and checked Tripadvisor for recommended resturaunts. This restaurant came up as the #1 choice so we tried it. We really enjoyed our lunch there. All the food was really good and the service was ok, not great but everyone was really nice! We will definitely be back when we come down to visit in the future. We have our eye on one of the original paintings we saw on the wall that was for sale!

The food was very good. We had the fried shrimp which were excellent, the phileaux which was very good and the chicken salad which was very good an very fresh as well. My only negative is that the reviews say good for kids and I would have to disagree. It's VERY small, and it looks like there is a regular crowd that likes to camp out with their macbooks using the free wifi and nursing their hipster tea. They were disturbed when we walked in with 4 kids...oh well :-) If I were in town again I would DEFINITELY eat there again, but I would probably carry out.

The oyster rockerfellah pore boy is fantastic. I don't ever have a bad lunch here. The Shaws are a welcome addition to downtown bowling green
(5)Joe L.
Lena our waitress was da bomb. Amazing teas, bombastic creole food and the bread pudding was fantastic! The staff's knowledge of teas, food and caves was impressive! Zach had the best stories!

Stopped here on a road trip and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered jambalaya and tea, and the tea was good while the Jambalaya delicious. The staff was quick and friendly. If you are looking for a southern feel, this a good place to grab a bite.

The tea bayou is a cute little shop in downtown. We all ordered something different and it was all really good. The sandwhiches were excellent, and my husband said it might have been one of the best things he's ever eaten. My son ordered a pizza, and it was also really good. We also tried the tomato bisque soup, and it was amazing. If you are a tea person, there's a huge list of teas to choose from. I tried the house, and I liked it, and I don't even like tea. Maybe you don't really know if you are a tea person until you come to the tea bayou. The only downside is that seating is really tight. We needed a highchair and it was hard not to feel like we were in the way, just because it's a small space so everything is really packed in. I also can't imagine that there aren't times where there's just not enough seating, seeing how small it really is. Other than that, it was a fantastic find.

We stopped by to put on gas near the interstate and I found places on yelp and saw it had really good reviews. Originally from New Orleans and a fan of red velvet cake, we decided to drive a few miles to check it out. Restaurant was located near a lovely park. Staff were friendly and interior walls had very nice artwork. They also sold tea accessories. I went around noon and there were a few people ahead of me. Once I placed order it took 10-15 mins. Ordered a cochon sandwich on a bun. Bun looked homemade but different than any bun I've ever had. It was very dense - similar to a biscuit. Had a known that, I would have ordered it on a french bun (assume that wb a lit lighter). The meat itself however had very good flavor. The fries had good flavor as well but very greasy and not crispy. I ordered an iced tea. Think it was called bff tea. I'm not a tea expert but wanted something cold and refreshing. It didn't have any strong fruity undertone but was definitely cold and refreshing. They didn't have a display window for baked goods like in the photos, didn't realize when I viewed them it was frm '11. There were only two squares in a glass cake display, 1 was a red velvet square. Although square was moist, it did not taste fresh at all. I wanted to really like the place and is probably closer to 3 1/2 but just my experience based on the items I ordered.

So glad we stopped on our way home from Thanksgiving. We had the muffuletta and pulled pork. They were both very good. Cole slaw interesting (in a good way) and a wonderful selection of teas. Extremely attentive service. Thanks, Yelp, for another great recommendation!

While Tea Bayou offers a unique dining atmosphere here in Bowling Green, and they have an amazing selection of tea; it's likely I'll never patronize their business again. They have a male staff member who doesn't seem to be enthused to work there and it translates in his customer service. He comes off as very temperamental, and it takes away from their food/drinks. The cupcakes are awesome, and I had some french fries that were soggy with grease and grossly over salted. I've heard wonderful things about the owner though.

Fantastic experience! A group of us were in town for one day for a race out at the park and decided to stop in here per the reviews already given on yelp. Extremely happy we did and so glad we didnt go elsewhere! The food, tea, coffee, dessert, and staff were all fantastic! We all ended up with different food from the french toast to soups to sandwhiches and poboys and all were to die for. The staff was extremely polite and informative and made our experience that much more enjoyable. To put it simply I had the Shrimp/Catfish PoBoy and have had them all over coastal areas for years growing up. This was the best PoBoy I have ever eaten. We will most definitely be returning next race we attend and visit this area... with more people to share the experience!

Tea Bayou is an amazing place to eat, drink, and just hangout in Bowling Green. It is nestled right in the heart of downtown and is easily hands down the best place to eat and grab an amazing specialty drink in downtown. The atmosphere is trendy and extremely well put together. The local art covering the walls is fantastic. The design give off a calming energy when you first walk in and causes you to just look around. Take sometime to look over the menu, you can not go wrong with what you order! I had the turkey sandwich and bayou salad and it was fantastic. My husband is extremely picking with tea and he fell in love with their chi tea from the first sip. Make sure to order dessert before you leave, you will not be disappointed.
(5)Brad D.
Excellent food, tea, beer, service and atmosphere. Red beans and rice, muffalotta, seafood platter are what we ordered. Very tasty / authentic.

This place is a gem. Their endless varieties and supply of teas blows me away. I love coming here mixing and matching various teas, creating this elaborate concoction, drinking it merrily by the window. It's so lovely! The food is fantastic! Folks, upon my first visit I had the pumpkin bisque, which I was really apprehensive because I've had some bad pumpkin in my day. Holy Moly! This was fabulous! They serve it in a ginormous bowl with a freshly toasted baguette, smeared with butter. Ah, it truly hit the spot. The combination of spices in the bisque were perfect, not too sweet but enough kick to create a balance that isn't too overpowering. Dinner service, I believe, is at 5 p.m., which entails waitstaff, menus, the whole gamut. Prior to that you order at the counter. Tea Bayou really offers a unique addition to this sleepy town. Please support your local business by drinking a cup of their tea!

Amazing shrimp and grits. Shrimp Po'Boy is very good. I'm a big fan of the breading and seasoning. Wash it all down with an Abita.
(5)Jessica K.
Chose this place because of reviews. Everything was excellent. Laid back comfortable atmosphere, great service, great food. The sweet girl who works there gave us some special treats to try when she found out it was our first time. Wise move, as it caused us to buy one of their specialty teas on the way out. EXCELLENT teas, by the way. We had the Reuben, the muffaleta, and andouille red beans and rice. More food than 3 hungry people could eat. We had a great pot of coffee, but the alcohol list looked promising as well. Can't say enough about the service either. She really cared about her guests having a good experience. We are from Nashville but will return.
(5)Mic P.
Loved this place, great staff and food was nice. Ended up buying a few teas. Really liked the peach tea.
(5)Anjani Z.
Sweet spot! Opens at 9am, but food isn't available til 11am. The tea menu is extensive. I tried the one puerh available and thought it was a nice choice- not too wet and moldy, but some pleasant, earthy, twiggy notes. For lunch I ordered the shrimp po'boy. Skip the cheese, as the flavors are delicate and perfect as is. Wait staff interaction was friendly and down to earth. Highly recommend this joint ;)
(5)Alexx A.
The service here is absolutely wonderful; everyone is so friendly and seem very genuine. Definitely coming back the next time I'm in town.
(5)Kimberly P.
I really love this restaurant. I've yet to have anything there that I didn't just love...from the PoBoy to the Fallout Burger to the Jambalaya, it's all just fabulous. And how lovely it is to be able to have a pot of perfectly brewed Earl Grey and just BE. The folks are great, food is great, atmosphere superb...highly recommended!
(5)Andrea H.
Great homemade food and drinks, sweet and comfy atmosphere, very friendly staff, great service. I had a po boy and some tomato basil soup, both were very good. Homemade bread and quality ingredients. I didn't order tea but the waitress brought me out a complimentary mug of their house iced tea since it was my first time here. Very good! Will be purchasing some to take with me. Will definitely be back to try some beignets and pumpkin soup.
(5)Ingrid H.
Just left this great new place, which I first heard about on Yelp, thanks Amy S. for the review! Being a coffee drinker I wasn't sure I could find a tea to my liking, but the owner was super helpful and I left with a ginger lemon iced tea. It was very refreshing and I will definitely go back for another glass and to try the many other varieties. I also tried a red velvet cake. It was yummy. They have lots of individual cakes, kind of like cup cakes, but square and two layer, so I guess not really like cup cakes at all other than they are individual servings. You should give this place a try!

My Idahoan self and my Californian parents are visiting my sister in Nashville, and we decided to drive up to Bowling Green for the day. We went to Tea Bayou because I saw good Yelp reviews, and I wasn't disappointed! I got the shrimp po'boy and a frozen white hot chocolate. The po'boy was delicious, so fresh and the fried shrimp were perfectly seasoned. And the frozen white chocolate was so good! When we first walked in, I expected the staff to not be super friendly, as this place has that kind of trendy café feel to it, but they proved me wrong. I had my 7 month old on my lap while I was sitting at a table waiting for my food, and one of the workers came over and brought me a highchair and everyone was just nice in general. I definitely recommend Tea Bayou, great food and drinks in a really nice setting!

So happy this place opened in Bowling Green, which needs more culture like Tea Squares provides. It's a charming little tea house and bakery that also serves desserts (e.g. cake and pastries) and sells local art. You can get the tea any which way: hot, cold, frozen, bulk, etc. Also serves coffee, hot chocolate, and their counterpart freezes. The proprietors are very friendly and welcoming, and students get 10% off with ID. They have wi-fi and it's a great study and talking ambience. Since writing my initial review they've added food. I've only tried the soups, which I highly recommend. They're hearty and fresh. My husband liked the poor boy roast beef sandwich, though it wasn't big. The cakes are very big and very sweet, though a little difficult to eat with a fork.
(4)Melissa K.
This place is wonderful. The staff is so friendly and always have great suggestions on tea and food to order. I had the shrimp po'boy and it was delicous. I only have positive things to say about this place!
(5)K B.
I ordered the shrimp and grits the other day, fully expecting the dish to be at least as good as Home Cafe and Marketplace's shrimp and grits, being as Tea Bayou specializes in New Orleans-style food. To my dismay, it was not even close. Had I not already had my pajamas on, I would have trashed the shrimp and grits, and gone out for something else. I have had the tomato bisque and shrimp po boy, as well. These were good, but not spectacular. Same with the red velvet cake- good, not spectacular. I have not had their tea, so I cannot comment on that, but I plan to try their tea soon. The organic lemonade is delicious.
(3)Annette B.
I have stopped while traveling several times and have enjoyed everything! Service was great, nice people. I will be back.
(5)Donald H.
The food is always subpar. The tea comes second to cake. The ventilation is bad so you leave smelling like a fry cook. And last I ordered a drink it took 28 minutes to have it finished...
(1)Susan H.
Try the Frozen Lemonade drinks! You can add a flavoring too! Great for these hot days
(5)Brett G.
Had to say a few words about Tea Bayou . First, their shrimp Poboy was amazing . Just like the real thing . The beignets are amazing too . The staff were very friendly and were able to answer all of our questions . Highly re commend Tea Bayou. A great addition to Bowling Green !!!
(5)Vanessa V.
Best red velvet cake ever. Great tea. Yummy frozen tea. Free wi-fi. Owner and employee were both super nice, even though we were there right until they closed. Definitely worth a stop for anyone in BG!
(5)Mike B.
Great spot and fantastic food. Had the shrimp Po'Boy sandwich and soup of the day. Also got some of the Bennie's for desert, some of the best I have ever eaten! Well worth the short drive into the BG square from the interstate!
(5)Kelli R.
A pretty delightful place! Chicken Salad sandwich was great, as was the Spinach-Artichoke soup. I had the Southern Peach tea, which I felt could have been a bit stronger. The beignets were amazing! It's a very cute place with nice staff.
(4)Elizabeth G.
Awesome place. Last weekend, my boyfriend was stopping in at another business and as we left I thought we were going home, but instead he surprised me with a trip here. I am so glad he did. It was the first time either of us had been there. The staff was wonderful and the food was awesome. I want to go back again sometime soon. I had a pizzetta (basically a single serving pizza) and a piece of pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing. Every bit of it was awesome looking and awesome tasting.
(5)Travis P.
Tea Squares is a great place to hang out with friends for a bit on a nice day. Their tea selection is great and every item is worth its price. Every employee is nice, helpful (and generally fun to talk to), and the owners are clearly invested in Bowling Green and the downtown area. This place is a definite score for local business. FYI, try the pumpkin bisque. Mmmmm.
(5)Steve C.
Based on other Yelper suggestion, we went here for lunch. We are pleasantly surprised. Compared with Potbelly's sandwich from Chicago which I think is a good place to grab a fast and cheap sandwich, this little sandwich place has every sandwich freshly prepared. Our party of 15 swamped their shop, which is a cozy mini shop stacked with tea set from Japan. We didn't order any tea, but it's what they advertise to specialize in. The soup and frozen lemonade are definitely a good treat to go with their sandwich during the hot Kentucky summer.
(5)Gator R.
I love Tea Squares and am so glad that out little town has this place--they have a great variety of loose-leaf tea for VERY reasonable prices. I love all the cute tea accessories--and the spinach artichoke soup is AMAZING! The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I ordered a chai there recently and was so disappointed to be served powdered instant chai--a tea store should brew it themselves, especially when they carry loose-leaf chai! And I really wish you were open on Sundays!
(4)Jackie U.
Today was my first visit to Tea Bayou and even though they didn't have the cake I was expecting, they made up for it with these amazing chocolate and red velvet desserts. Everyone that works there was so nice and accommodating. After my initial dissappointment I left there a happy customer. I will definitely be back- thanks Tea Bayou
(4)Deborah W.
I work on the square and absolutely love Tea Squares. The Pumpkin Bisque soup is outstanding. Service is great. It's a lovely place to sit down for a meal.
(5)Michael B.
A great place to sit and enjoy a pastry and perfectly brewed tea. Green tea and fruit smoothies are also a favorite treat. A "must see" locale in the heart of Bowling Green.
(5)Annabeth B.
Great service! The waitress (Megan I think; she's the one with red hair) gave my friend and I a sample of each other's drink so we could try it along with drinking our own, and since it was my first time, she gave me a sample of some tea that tasted like apple pie. It helped with the atmosphere when she turned on Disney music, although the restaurant is already awesome with all of the art hanging on the walls. Only thing is that it's a bit warm inside (maybe 78 degrees or so) and there may be a few flies, but they are not that bad of a nuisance and it's definitely one of the best restaurants that I've been to in Bowling Green. Highly recommend!
(5)Lauren W.
Authentic New Orleans menu option. It was really empty for Saturday night dining. Service was good, food was great. Like the atmosphere but more for lunch.
(4)Becky M.
Great welcoming spot on the round-about in downtown Bowling Green. I enjoyed a hot pumpkin latte and couldn't have been happier. I was good and didn't get one of the homemade treats in the display case, but they looked fantastic. (There was a lunch/dinner menu too, but I did not order any). I was able to work while enjoying the latte because of the WiFi access. Perfect. I don't know when I'd find myself back in BG again, but I would certainly head back to Tea Squares.
(4)Zach L.
Had the tomato basil soup & rouxben... It was probably the best rueben I've had in town & the soup was the perfect texture and blend of basil. Will definitely recommend to others and be coming back soon
(5)Mark W.
This place takes the cake!! Great food! Awesome and knowledgeable staff and amazing tea and coffee. I'm not from the area but I want to pack this place up and take it home with me and keep it all to myself!
(5)Sarah R.
This is the best place to eat on the square. As someone who grew up around a lot of cajun cooking I have to say that Tea Bayou is the real deal. It's as close as you can get to actually driving down to the Gulf Coast. It's also reasonably priced for quality and quantity, which I can't say about other places nearby. The staff is pretty great too! They play good music (but not too loudly, so you can still study) and are fun to talk to. The tea is excellent as well. Though I still consider myself more of a coffee person, they have definitely done a good job of introducing me to some awesome drinks! I never knew tea could be so good!
