If you're driving thru its worth the stop. Try some thing different you will like it.

I won't eat here again. The service was incredible. The selection was too quality. The ingredients in the food were fresher than fresh. I just can't eat there again because the brisket tacos changed me. I could argue whether that change was good or bad. But since I've had those tacos I've been on a non stop taco trip to hell and back. I've been living and breathing and of eating tacos for weeks. So yea, it's a good thing. I'm tired. Should probably sleep. This is seriously one of the most fabulous places to eat in Bowling Green. I can't award it a Michelin Star but I can give it a Jason Star.

Love the food, such high quality ingredients. The atmosphere is really fun, we will be coming back here. So far I've had the southern fried chicken sandwich, French onion soup, BBQ chicken bacon ranch pizza, and the autumn salad. And it was all delicious!

My last day of training in Bowling Green before heading back to Louisville, I finally had the opportunity to try Home Cafe & Marketplace. Considering I'd driven past here daily for the last week, you'd think I'd noticed it earlier, but it is fairly unnoticeable on the corner of this Penn Station strip, just off Nashville Rd near the corner of Campbell Lane. A small sign and an active patio for lunch are really the giveaway. Firstly, this is nothing like home cooking. It is far, far better. From the blackboard menus and the chalk art on some of the walls, the small two-person tables, this place is perfectly cozy, a cafe to the tee. The menu obviously changes regularly but maintains a few regular items, but on a Friday near the last few days of Lent, I opted for the shrimp po' boy. It was no sacrifice at all. The grilled, blackened shrimp were cooked perfectly, juicy and with just enough spice. The crust of the french bread just able to hold all of the other toppings in without oozing all over the plate. That would've been OK though as I wouldn't have minded sopping up a spill or two with a piece of that bread. The girl sitting in the table beside me had just finished her's and said I was doing a much better job than she of keeping it all together but I'm no amateur, it's taken years to get here. If she hadn't just finished her Oberon I would've been happy to have her join me, but alas, I'm getting a bit old for all that and I did have to return to my real job. Can't wait to come back for more training though...

Home Cafe and Marketplace is a great neighborhood find. When my husband and I ate here we enjoyed everything we had, and it was good enough to make us think that pretty much anything on the menu would be good. I took a chance on the Grilled Pimento sandwich, which was rich and delicious, although it's salty enough for you to want to spend some time with your side dishes before going back in for another bite. Don't order it if you're watching your salt or fat intake, but if you're ordering it you probably know that already. The Cowboy Roast Beef is great as well, stacked high with good quality roast beef. The jalapeno mayo really adds a nice depth of flavor. The pasta salad is good, but not a standout. The house made chips are good and unusual in that they are not uniformly crispy. I found the chewy texture of some chips added to the experience. Overall, this is a place you can take some risks with an unusual menu item and be pleasantly surprised. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you, lightning quick. Kudos to Home for creating a great alternative in Bowling Green.

Excellent lunch. I had the autumn salad & a cup of Mushroom bisque. I wish I'd ordered a bowl of the soup. Suggestions, put a purse hook in the ladies restroom. Offer bottled water. The tap water here is very chlorinated.

All you really need to know about Home Cafe & Marketplace, it is hands down the best local restaurant in BG! Wednesday night is burger night and that is the very best time to go if you like out of the ordinary gourmet burgers. If you are lucky enough to catch a Po' Boy or brisket tacos on the menu, you will instantly be hooked.

We were vacationing in Nashville and drove up to Bowling Green to take a tour of the Lost River Cave, and the nice young lady in the gift shop recommended this local restaurant. Boy, are we glad we ate here. My son ordered a pizza that he enjoyed, and my husband got a Cuban sandwich and homemade potato chips that he still raves about. The Summer in the South sandwich is made up of some of my favorite ingredients: fried green tomatoes, homemade pimento cheese, strawberry preserves, and whole wheat bread. This sounds like an odd combination, but the mix of flavors and textures is delicious! I got the pasta salad as a side and it was moist and flavorful. The staff is super friendly and I appreciate that they use local, fresh ingredients on their menu. If we're ever in Bowling Green again, we will definitely eat one or more meals here.

Atrocious customer service. Can't comment on the food since I was never afforded the opportunity to try it.

This place was amazing. On the way home from Nashville to New York we were looking for somewhere to eat that was not a chain restaurant. Eclectic and unique for what I would expect in Kentucky. The food was top notch and made from fresh ingredients. Everyone enjoyed their meal and this is a definite 5 star.

  • Paul M L.

Why 5 stars, because everything was spot on! We had a pecan salad that was fantastic Than a pizza with mushrooms, artichokes and garlic with a very thin crust that was crunchy, chewy and tasty. We had there chips and we're really , really good. And for dessert we had there salted pecan squares that are to die for. The place was clean and the staff was great! Next time we are in Bowling Green we are going back there!

Got the jerk chicken pizza. I have to say it didnt really taste like jerk chicken, but the mango bbq sauce they used on it made the pizza great. Very fresh tasting, would eat here again.

Found this jewel thanks to Yelp and loved it. They have such a great selection on their menu and a lot of local products in their food. I chose the meatbull sub pizza which was on their specials of the day menu. It didn't take long at all, it was thin as are all of their pizzas and the flavor was delicious.

  • Lauren W.

I went for the burger night on Wednesday after hearing numerous rave reviews from locals. I got the fried green tomato burger and it was literally like eating heaven. The burger was huge and the pimento cheese was amazing, adding a nice kick and pairing nicely with the fried green tomato. Oh, and the fries. So, so good.

Service was so nice. Food was delicious. The desserts looked so insane. I had the fried chicken bbq ranch pizza and my mouth waters thinking about it.

Outstanding food on both of my visits this week. Specials are a great compliment to the standard menu. I would highly recommend this great little place to anyone that appreciates good eats!

  • Katina M.

Admittedly, I've only lived here for a week, but I would say that this is the best restaurant in BG. I had breakfast once (a well-executed typical two egg breakfast with home fries and sausage) and lunch the other time. My lunch sandwich was a special: fried chicken and pickle and it was perfect. Loved it. Home Cafe is a welcoming place, it's casual and good for children, and they focus on supporting local farms and foods. Thumbs way up!

Yelp, you treat me so well. Home Cafe was a Yelp find, and it's one I've since shared with others. Bowling Green has plenty of restaurants, but not many (if any) as great as this place! Home has a... homey feel! It's very clean with great decor--black chalkboards and white chalk art (?) cover the walls. It's not a large place, but it is an open seating area, so it doesn't feel cramped. The menu itself isn't massive, but everything I've had on it is DELICIOUS. Lots of sandwiches and salads... AMAZING looking desserts... homemade side options (which I tend to rotate between on each visit, as I like them all!)... and daily specials! You can find those on their website and one printouts at the register. They're committed to local food, so the menu does seem to rotate, which I enjoy! If you're looking for a place to eat in Bowling Green, go here. It's on the end of a building with a few other restaurants and businesses; you could blink and miss it if you weren't paying attention. You won't regret it. Side note: My goal is to make it here on a Burger Night (Wednesday) soon!!

Have driven past this place for a long while and finally tried it a couple of weeks ago. Why did I not ever go here sooner?! It's sooooo good! Frequent Bowling Green for a lot of WKU events and activities, so stopping in at Home Cafe is now a no brainier! My first visit I had the smoked bologna Reuben with chips. A very good sandwich. On that first visit, the other guests I was with had the Summer in the South sandwich. It's incredible! Try it! On my second visit tonight, I had the Nashville Hot Chicken pizza...they nailed it! Pickles and that great Nashville Hot Chicken with some shredded cheese...It is a well done pizza! I wish I had room for their homemade desserts, they look so good! I'll be back for more, just wish I lived a little closer to be able to try more menu items!

Love the atmosphere!!! This is not a chain. The food ingredients are of a high quality and you can tell the chef cares by the presentation. This is a foodies kind of place. All local, fresh fruits and vegetables. My kids had the cheese pizza ( not too adventurous, I know!) I had the fried green tomatoes pizza ( that was a little bit far out for me) but you know what, it was pretty darn good. I would order again!!!

I went here over the weekend - YUM! Tucked away in a corner of a strip mall, this place was AMAZING and seemed quite undiscovered. The space is very open with cute chalkboard walls updated daily with lunch and dinner specials. The server/cashier was super nice and helpful. I got the blackberry, brie, and fried okra pizza, while my friend got the Jamaican jerk chicken pizza, both of which were equally delicious and well worth the drive off I-65. We also got dessert (red velvet cake with Oreo frosting), which looked quite tasty too, but was a letdown for me. It had excellent moistness and great potential, but just didn't have any pizazz or kick to its taste when it came down to dessert time. If I'm traveling in this area again, I will definitely stop by though!

  • Maranda G.

This place was not as good as I had been hearing. Pizza was burnt and the thin crust cut twice both ways made it hard to eat. The pasta salad is alright but the portioning is off for how much they charge. Too expensive.

  • Mandy P.

This place has character and charm to match the wholesome and delicious food. It's by far our favorite place to eat in Bowling Green. Don't pass on the dessert here- any choice you make will undoubtedly be a winner.

Fellow Yelpers where are you? Come try this little cafe. I usually have breakfast here on Sundays, doesn't open until 10 on Sundays so fits into my lazy day timetable. They usually have a couple of specials and they are always great. Today I had a steak and egg bagel. Sounds pretty straight forward, right? Well, it was shaved prime rib served open face with a shot of sausage gravy and an over easy egg. It was amazing. Prime rib was so tender and tasty all by itself! On a side note, they have changed their menu up with some great new items - charred peach salad, corned beef Ruben and caprese sandwich are just a few of the new additions!!!

Locally-owned, locally-sourced, Kentucky Proud supporter that gets it right Every. Single.Time. The quality of the food is always superb and customer service here is excellent. When we have guests come in from out of town, this is our first stop for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner!

Just passing through bowling Green. The salad, sandwich and pasta salad were all delicious. The cowboy roast beef was great and the ingredients worked well without being over powering.

We drove into town Wednesday afternoon. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Just to be sure, we called ahead to make sure they were open. The lady that answered, said YES we are open, come on over, Wednesday is BURGER NIGHT !!! When we arrived at 6:45pm, we ordered our burgers. The fellow at the counter reported that they were OUT OF BURGERS. (On Burger Night) Okay, we would like the Prime Rib Mini Sandwiches (Sliders). We don't have those tonight. We only have those occasionally. Okay, how about your Mac-and-Cheese? We don't have that tonight. Okay, how about a Prime Rib Sandwich and Fries? Sorry, we are out of Fries. We sold all our Fries to the people that enjoyed all the Burgers. O-Well. They may have wonderful food and service, but we will never know. Cheers.

I have eaten here twice while visiting the area. The food is fresh and delicious. It all seems made from scratch. Burger night was awesome. The fried green tomato burger was amazing...although the pimento cheese was different than expected. Even tried the desserts this time. Banana cream cake was tasty.

Another great lunch! Today we had the Soky sandwich and the Southern chicken salad. Both were excellent, but you really can't beat their salads. The Southern has dried cherries, apples, pecans, chicken and mixed greens. A perfect balance of flavors and textures. They have brunch on Sunday and are closed on Monday.

Definitely the best place to grab a casual, cafe-style bite in Bowling Green, despite being (an otherwise well-appointed, independent cafe) tucked away in a strip mall. Their menu (which features separate lunch and dinner daily specials) focuses on seasonal, fresh, high quality, locally-sourced (when possible) ingredients used to make some tasty cold / hot sandwiches, salads, personal brick oven-style pizzas. Bread used in sandwiches is uniformly tasty and fresh. Pizza crust is good. These are two things that loads of places have massive fails; not HOME. Yay! Their small, but well-crafted and varied menu changes seasonally, so if you have picky eaters (UGH, my sympathies) check their website ahead of time if you're concerned about your options. Frankly (and not to knock their food at all - I have enjoyed everything I've eaten here), I find their food often sounds more 'extreme' in an adventurous-eater sense than it actually is upon eating. I guess that's just an indirect way of saying that no matter how it sounds, everything here tastes good, even if the description reads a little 'different' for Bowling Green. Have had several of their salads, several sandwiches, and many of their pizzas from winterish/springish/summer menus. Prices are reasonable and you can have a table wine or craft brew with your meal. Kids menu available. In case you're not used to this sort of spot: places that focus on daily specials and fresh, local, small suppliers run out of things sometimes. That's actually a good thing, since it means that they're doing things right, not Sysco'ing up their menu with prepped or frozen foods. Take-away works ok, but orders do tend to sit longer than needed, whether the person taking orders is busy (taking orders, natch) or not. I guess they want to foster a "Home" spirit, and so don't want to do the "your order number is" or "can I get a name for your order" schtick, but there is nothing more frustrating about takeaway (anywhere) than suspecting that your order is ready and watching multiple kitchen staff pull tickets, bag stuff up, then not knowing who it is for, walk away leaving it sit on the counter. Just saying that sometimes systems can be used for the good of 'the team' ('The team' being anyone who wants to enjoy some far better than average, fresh and hot nosh.) and that, just perhaps, having the person taking orders serve as the only repository of WhoTF ordered WhatTF might actually not be particularly (or even a little) efficient. Plus, since there is really no place for folks waiting for takeaway to stand (except down the bathroom / rear exit corridor) that doesn't interfere with table use when there's a full house...it's just good business for all concerned. But I still love you, Home Cafe and Market Place. Can't wait to see what the specials are on my next visit!

Great variety and locality. Went on burger night and, oh my, it was amazing. Prime rib burger with garlic sautéed kale and apple sauce. Best burger I've ever had. And from what I hear, every burger night is like that. Also the new outdoor seating is trendy and nice and shaded.

Autum salad was possibly the best salad I've ever had. Very fresh ingredients and all the flavors worked extremely well. I will definitely be back!

we were traveling and knew we'd be passing Bowling Green around lunch. Searched for best places in BG and found this. It's about 5 miles off 65 but worth taking time to go. I had the smoked Bologna Reuben with Mac and cheese and my wife had mushroom artichoke pizza. Everything was excellent and we ate every bite. Fresh, tasty ingredients, prepared well. Plenty of food for the money.

I've traveled to various places in different parts of the world, but I can't ever remember having a meal anywhere as good as Home Cafe and Marketplace. It's locally-owned, and they use fresh ingredients, some from the local farmer's market. They have daily specials, aside from their regular menu, and you must go on burger night (Wednesday). Just get there early, as they tend to sell out.

I am so thankful for Yelp! We are 5 hours in to a 12 hour driving trip and I found this wonderful little restaurant by searching nearby. What a find! If you are a foodie or a locavore, you will love this place. The restaurant is the type where you order at the counter and receive a number and the food is served at your table. Menu items included a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and thin crust oven pizzas. Most items were inventive twists on traditional favorites. My family (2 very picky eaters) enjoyed marguerite and pepperoni pizza, roast beef sandwich and cookies. Everything was creatively prepared with excellent ingredients and served up quickly and beautifully. My picky husband had the creativity left off of his sandwich and it was still easily the best roast beef sandwich I have tried. The decor is tasteful chalkboard walls and bistro tables and the picnic seating outside was classy and accented with a lovely container garden. If this were a local option for me, I would be a regular. As it is, I am already trying to figure out how we can stop here again next week!

The boyfriend and I were on a road trip adventure from Michigan to TN, and the Lost River Caves was one of our stops. We wanted to grab a bit to eat after visiting the Cave and before hitting the road again. After eating days worth of typical road side restaurant food fare, Home was a welcome change. We ordered a sandwich and large salad to share. The place was busy, but tables were turned quickly, and food came out pretty quickly as well. The food selection was fun, and fresh. I felt happy, full, and re-energized after leaving from our lunch at Home. Unlike the normal feeling of being full of regret and sluggishness after eating at another restaurant while traveling on a road trip. Wish we had one around Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Bowling Green! Each day, they have a completely new menu for dinner and lunch. Everything that they use is locally produced, so their menu is always changing based on what they have in. I believe Wednesday was burger night. It was important to go early because they would sometimes run out of beef by the end of the night. They posted their menu on Facebook each day along with pictures of their meals, which always brought me in. They also had really good deserts.

Great place for breakfast or brunch. As much of the food as they possibly can, is made locally. Low key. Very good food. An excellent place to support.

Some of the best food in Bowling Green. They really care about producing a good product and giving you a great experience while in their restaurant. They have a set menu as well as daily specials which change all the time, so there is always something new to try. Their ingredients are all locally sourced which is fantastic.

I have never had one bad thing here. Everything is great. They always change the menu because they use local produce.

  • Joel M.

I have never been disappointed in ANY meal I have eaten at Home Cafe. Top notch, local, seasonal, original, local food every time. Easily the best restaurant in BG. Arguably the best pizzas in town too. Also, best burgers in town by a landslide.

  • Curtis H.

Stopped in on our way back to TN and we were pleased. Was busy, but the ordering at the counter moved along quickly. Abbreviated menu of personal pizzas, sandwiches, soup, salads and breakfast. Beer and wine available. I started with the jalapeño potato soup and was not disappointed. Creamy, cheesy, with chunky red skin potatoes topped with bacon and scallions. Just a touch of spice to remind you there at peppers. Wife and I split a mushroom artichoke pesto pizza and the kids had pepperoni. The pizza's are a good personal size with crunchy and chewy thin crust. Toppings are all fresh and of good quality. This place is a nice little find with quality touches to the food served.

Go eat here. Now! Then do it again tomorrow. BG is know as chain restaurant capital of the world. Not all of us are proud of that. If I have another friend ask me to "meet us at Cheddar's" It could get ugly. Fun, great food. These guys are putting a quality, ever changing menu... support it. BG needs it.

After living in California for 4 years, I was pleasantly surprised to see a take on a Vietnamese sandwich here in BG. It was absolutely delicious (although not a true Vietnamese sandwich). The house made chips were great as well. Great ambiance, friendly service, and delicious food. Definitely coming back soon!

  • Dani A.

In a town full of fast food and chain restaurants it is hard to find good food, Home exceeds that. The food and creativity brings a new flavor to the usual food choices of Bowling Green and knowing that you are supporting local farmers while having a delicious meal makes it that much more satisfying.

  • Paula H.

Always Fresh! My favorite place to eat in BG! I love the mozzarella and tomato sandwich, but it's not on the regular menu. They have daily specials that are fun, fresh and delicious.

great fish tacos , quick service , friendly staff! loved the stop!

    (5)
  • Julie B.

I love the interesting selections on the daily specials and the fact that they use local vendors. I wish the place was larger- they need to add a few tables. It is not kid-friendly at all. The food is nearly always good but portions on some selections are really stingy (and several are very generous, like the meatloaf sandwich). Prices are a bit on the high side but again, love the fact that you can get something different here.

  • Gator R.

Yum yum! Just wish it was a little bigger!

Chefs use of thyme overpowering. Watery risotto, average food, average atmosphere. Seemed like everything was lacking salt. Small portions. On the up side, great presentation.

  • Joseph T.

Great food! Horrid music selection! The food was spot on. The smoked pastrami Reuben was flavorful and wonderfully smoky. My wife had a bite of mine and said "You can taste the love and care in this sandwich." Her Debris PoBoy was excellent with the braised beef and creole mustard. The home chips were fried to perfection. The potato salad was creamy and mustardy like it should be. Just get rid of the crappie, folksy, dreary guitar music. What a drag on your dining experience. Get something upbeat to match the food that you can "taste the love and care in."

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
