Always a favorite restaurant. Select meats from Yoder Meats across the street. Quality comfort food any time of the day. Fried chicken is a must, as well as those homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. Menu is very affordable! Don't forget to get your pie for dessert!!!

Very full filling for every meal under $10.50. If they say a way to a mans heart than Carriage crossing has my heart. Not one complaint. From hospitality to the food, I give them 2 thumbs up!

An interesting experience, obviously if you want to get a closer look at the Amish, this is a quick and easy way to do it. Don't forget to pick up some of their brochures to learn more about the Amish lifestyle. Great for groups, we came here with (literally) dozens of people, and while it takes a while (like anywhere when you have that many people), they overall did a good job taking care of us. The food was nothing spectacular, pretty typical, American, homey food. The pies were obviously the star. They had a bunch of kinds, including some kind of a brownie/cookie pie (which ended up being more just like a brownie/cookie, fyi). Decent experience, probably wouldn't care to come back, but not unhappy with coming once.

Went here for a second time, just this last week! We loved it and we will be back as soon as possible!

You may never get to Yoder, Kansas, and if you don't, my what a shame. This is an Amish restaurant that has exceptional food, exceptional service, and wicked good pies. They also have Amish crafts and foods. The rolls were fresh-baked whole wheat goodness, with the best cinnamon butter that I've ever tasted. Meals were freshly prepared and the meats and ingredients all come from top-grade local producers. Food preparation was homey greatness. The pies? Wow. Take your pick. They're all good. It may look a bit like Cracker Barrel, to answer Erick H.'s laments, but that's about where the comparison stops. Hutchinson seems to be a local destination spot. If you're here for the State Fair, the space museum, or whatever, you really should take the 10 min trip out to Yoder. Heck, I'd take the 40-50min. trip from Wichita!

This place is your typical diner with typical diner food. If you're expecting an Amish experience with butter being churned right next to your table, then you're going to be very disappointed. The chop steak I ordered was cooked to my liking and was very good. The baked beans were good, although on the thick side. The mashed potatoes were very good. The fried mushrooms, although frozen, were of a very good quality. Same goes for the onion rings. I thought the bread was way too dense, so I only ate a small piece. I didn't try the pie, but I did buy a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was disappointing. It had the same density as the bread. And the icing tasted like thick sugar water. The icing was too sweet, and it had no subtle flavors like vanilla or honey. I've had some amazing cinnamon rolls from the Farmers Market in downtown Wichita. The ones from Carriage Crossing don't even come close.

The food is incredible. Homemade comfort foods. Whole Pies are half price after 7 pm. Veggies are the only thing a little iffy. However, the service can be slow, particularly for Saturday breakfast. Keep in mind when planning a visit.

Had not been to Yoder, KS for 20+ years stopped there on our way back to Colorado and its still the same!!! Great food and service and nowhere else I know of you can get a cinnamon roll for 1.49!!!! Its a must stop when you are in the area

By far the best pies in the state of Kansas. We had lunch and it was outstanding. Homemade and served by friendly staff. The only problem with pies is when they don't have the flavor you want, but that just means they are that good! Don't miss this little gem, especially if you are going to Kansas State Fair. Oh and make sure you check out the gift shop.

I came in for a lupper. That's a late lunch/early supper. The restaurant was luckily pretty empty and service was speedy. I had a chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans for sides. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender enough to cut with just a fork. The gravy was delicious. The potatoes and green beans were the perfect side dishes but weren't anything special. I finished the meal with a slice of peach pie. It was good pie but not as good as my friend's coconut-chocolate deliciousness. If I could do dessert again I'd go crazy with the pie choice, and that's my recommendation to you. The place is really good and fairly priced but it wasn't excellent or special and that's why it only gets 3 stars.

3.5 stars. I've heard about this place for so long, and finally today, after a visit at the Salt Museum, made it out here for lunch. The menu impressed me as extremely well priced for some high quality ingredients. There's nothing wrong with the final dishes either, it's just that they weren't outstanding. cinnamon bun- HUGE. And the other thing going for it was that it was not dry. Somehow, it was too bready though there was a ton of butter and icing on top (like literally, the butter separated from the icing). Roast Beef sandwich. I was going to order a BLT or grilled cheese, but thought that would've been a poor decision since Carriage Crossing was known for the freshness of its meat. So I ordered the roast beef. Poorly executed. The sandwich came out covered by a large lettuce, so the bread was quite soggy, though they had made the effort to toast it. Meat was not dry, but pretty tasteless. Fried chicken- Good, but portions were small. Fries and onion rings. Fried well. Baked beans. likely the best thing I ate. Not too sweet, though I would've liked to see some meat in there. Bread with cinnamon butter. Bread was so fresh and soft. Enjoyable. Strawberry pie. Good, but not enough to be highlighted. I'm glad to have eaten at this Hutch institution. Very reasonably priced solid food. And the service was very good.

I had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans...absolutely wonderful! The meat and potatoes were covered in thick gravy and our waitress was attentive and kind. On top of all that, my meal was only $8.49! I didn't have enough room left for pie, but they certainly looked wonderful.

One of my favorites! Everything is always excellent. If you are craving down home comfort food, then this is your place. The fried green beans with ranch are to die for, as is the grilled chicken breast. The marinade for the chicken makes it so tender you can cut it with your fork and its melt in the mouth delicious. They also serve family style meals beginning with salads for all and your choice of meat/meats. In addition to that, your party is served bowls of mashed potatoes and other vegetables that are shared and passed around, as well as homemade bread and beverages. These meals are priced per person, depending on what meat/meats are chosen. They also offer various sandwiches and some seafood choices. Of course the pies are the highlight of the meal. Pies are sold by the slice or as whole pies. They always have numerous varieties to choose from including cream pies and fruit pies. They also sell enormous cinnamon rolls in the display case at the front near the register. I've never tried them myself, but they look amazing and are large enough to nearly feed the entire family. The service is very good as well and they have a very nice gift shop where they sell all kinds of things including Amish made baked and canned goods. As this is in Yoder, KS, you will surely see the Amish influence and some of the waitresses are Amish. There is also quaint shopping just around the corner in downtown Yoder, with various little shops to peruse. Definitely worth stopping in if you've got the chance.

In from out of state to visit family and we made the trek to the area for some browsing and lunch. The Carriage Restaurant was simply wonderful with its sweet little shop attached to the wonderful eatery. We had a party of six and the orders varied from the Roasted Turkey and Bacon Salad (just yum!), Chicken Fried Chicken w/loaded baked potato and the Fried Chicken and green beans. My brother ordered the sliced beef with gravy and fries which was moist, fork tender and very flavorful. My daughter however ordered a ham sandwich which was a literal ham steak on fresh baked bread. It was divine. The ranch dressing was amazing ... creamy and just about perfect. As was the mini loaves of bread provided prior to our meal with a delicious honey cinnamon butter! Prices were very reasonable and the service was very prompt and friendly. I spent more in the attached shop then on our food bill but it was all worth it! Take the time to take a look around. You won't be sorry!!!

Good food at a good price. Good service. Pie was also good

Love this place for breakfast!! Love coming into town to visit family and have breakfast here! Great cinnamon rolls and biscuits.

What a joke. This place is so commercialized. It is no longer the Amish experience it is advertised to be. Bread was good, I think they still bake it. Salad was your normal dinner salad. Croutons were good. Asked if they had Bleu Cheese dressing, which they do, but they don't make it. It is Kraft. Downhill from there. I had the Roast Beef dinner with Baked Beans and Green Beans. The beef was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The green beans were canned, but not too bad. The baked beans were actually good. My sister had the Sausage dinner. The sausages had been cooking forever, and we're shriveled up and very dry. We both complained and our server brought her new sausage. World of difference to have fresh cooked sausage. She brought me a bowl of beef, which wasn't as dry, but was still so bad I couldn't eat it. My Mom had the Trout, and it was pretty good. Her mashed potatoes and gravy seemed very pasty. We won't be back unless it is for Strawberry Pie. But I hear that isn't as good as it used to be.

This place is incredible. The food is second to none and the service is as friendly as it gets. It's great for large groups and the pie is awesome. This is a must for anyone attending KLETC just up the road or anyone passing through the area. My favorite was probably the chicken fried steak with incredible gravy. You could taste the freshness of the Amish meat. It was like going back in time and having your Grandmother cook a home cooked meal. This food is straight from the farm and everyone I went with continues to talk about the food and pies to this day. Just do it folks! You won't regret it!

Great food at a great price. Their pie is fantastic!

OK...so you would think that out here in the Midwest that homestyle cooking would be everywhere--not necessarily so. While visiting friends in Wichita, they took me here--full well knowing that I missed home-cooked meals. The food was fabulous and the portions large. It was a treat to have home baked bread. Most of the meats (including the turkey dinner I had) were from the Yoder meats place, not to far away. Servers were friendly, and in my opinion--quite attractive, though almost always married--damnit. In any case I would highly recommend this place as one does not always get a homecooked meal like this. In response to another patron's comments, I did not have any problems with the meat or the mashed potatoes. everything was perfect and I was full-quite full. The pies are delicious as well, and one can pre-order many different flavors not often found, including special pies for whose with restricted sugar intake. Again, highly worth it--and yes, in the middle of nowhere.

This is a pie review only. What can I say, good ass pie! Pics to follow soon. I had the pecan pie a la mode, my girl had the peach pecan pie ...both were terrific. I like how they give you generous portions here. This restaurant is located in Yoder and it reminds of how someone with a southern accent might call Yoda. Random. The restaurant is fairly big, family style with a cute little gift shop in the front -- very warm country style. Go for the pie, there's really not much else around Yoder to see except maybe Amish people riding in their horse and carriage or tractors. Fun times! And no I'm not being sarcastic.

If I could have given this place 6 stars I would have. It is not "Amish" necessarily, but it was really good comfort food. **Reccomend: Get the all you can eat Family Style meal. We did a combo of the fried chicken and Roast Beef which, even at $14 a person was still a great deal. The Family style includes a drink (which is $2 anyway) and a piece of pie (which is $3-4) so the food itself didn't seem to be that much more when you factor in that we were going to get a drink and pie anyhow. Children cost 75 cents per year for the Family style and they get both a drink and slice of pie too. Word to the wise, we all agreed that the Banana Cream Pie was our favorite. We got there around 2 in the afternoon on a Saturday and it was super busy so I cannot imagine going during a "peak time". Even with it being busy the food came out quickly and the service was very friendly.

The food is excellent, and pleased everyone in our group from age 2 to 60. We had a large group and had quick and friendly service and left full of delicious pie! I recommend making a stop anytime that you can as you pass by but it is also worth the drive from Wichita or Hutch to get out of the city and have some great 'home cooked food' by someone else!
(4)Karen F.
The food is great. The pie is even better. We had an entire family there, with small children to senior citizens, and everyone had something that they enjoyed.

My husband and I usually stop here with my parents en route from the Wichita airport back up to the Salina area when we come out for visits. In seventh grade, I rode a school bus through Yoder, every day to and from school. It's a quiet Amish community. It's good solid, mid-Western food for a great price. The pies are what you wish your grandma could bake for you every day. If you're in the Hutchinson area, it's worth a drive out to Yoder to eat here.

Pie. Yummy. Best pie ever. The have dozens of pies, though they may not all be available. You can order a pie at least one day ahead of time and pick it up to take home. They also have several sitting in a refrigerated lazy susan type thing that you can buy. Theres other food. I like the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes and gravy and corm. They managed to cook it at the most perfect temperature ever. Their chili is ok-though I like Texas Roadhouses better. I wasn't quite as impressed with the breakfast. Thought (and hoped) it would be a lot more greasier. While youre in town you can swing by Yoder Meats (not sure about the tongues they had sitting in the fridge) or the Dutch Mill Bakery (cinnamon rolls /droooool) and some other shops.

Honestly, I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I worked here in high school and know first-hand that the kitchen is clean. The little Amish ladies come in at 4am everyday to make pies, breads, soups and gravies from scratch. They will never sell pie that's more than a day old. A lot of the meats come from the processor right across the street. The ham steak on the menu is probably the best bet. It's local, and doesn't remotely resemble any ham you've ever had in a restaurant before. My favorite, the hot hamburger sandwich. It's freshly processed meat on baked that day country white bread, served with your choice of brown or white gravy. Breakfast is always amazing, but make sure you get there early, they stop serving at 10 am, and often run out of the plate size cinnamon rolls long before that. My favorite- eggs, hashbrowns and out of this world biscuits, for 4$. This place is famous for it's coffee. Always hot and good quality! Just an FYI, Yoder is an Amish community, named after the most common surname there. You'll often find lots of Amish men in their black hats sitting in the front section. There horse and buggies and tractors are out in the parking lot. The gift shop features lots of local goods, and you can check out the old-fashioned hardware store or lots of other amazing shops on main street while you're here. This restaurant was featured in Taste of Home magazine, and we had visitors from all 50 states after that article went to press. They are not open on Sundays, and they close at 9PM.

This is just good down home family food with a nice atmosphere. The food is pretty good but the pie and cinnamon rolls are amazing. Definitely worth a stop.

Very nice place in the middle of nowhere :) I can't even remember how I found out about this place since its so remote and in a place where you wouldn't normally go unless you have a reason to go. It's old style traditional American food which is fresh, less processed with a great customer service. I've had fried chicken and country fried steak here. Desserts are great too, apple pie with ice cream, oh heavenly :)
