Choices for "fine dining" are rather limited in Wichita. So if you are looking for a place to go that isnt the usual family owned multicultural dive Ya's Ya's is a good choice. The food is of a high quality and non pretentious but with a upper scale flare. Except for the shrimp cocktail, frozen tiny rip off. The portions are of good size without being the sort of thing you must bag half of and take home. ( a no no on a date ladies, do you really want his car to smell like your shrimp scampi? Or have him imagine you using a microwave?) The service is not poor, nor would I say it is excellent. I have never had bad service, nor have I had exceptional service. Great no nonsense drinks, bloody mary is exceptional. The gluten free options are nothing to rave about. Overall a go to place for special occasions.

This is a fairly upscale option on the east side of Wichita. Most people seemed to be in collared shirts or dresses, but there were just enough people in T-shirts that I didn't feel too out of place. Menu is a little bit on the pricy side, but the portions are very fair. I got the lasagna and it was huge! Well cooked and very flavorful - wonderful italian cheesy goodness. The service, however, was not quite as good as the food. I was in a large party and the drink orders (even for simple alcoholic beverages) were pretty slow - one guy waited for 15 minutes for... get this... Diet Pepsi. However, the wait staff was very friendly... just not overly prompt with drink orders. The food is good quality and slightly overpriced, but the bistro features a great atmosphere inside for large groups or one-on-one dates. There's also extensive patio seating during good weather. Overall, it's a solid choice for a midweek get-together or weekend meal, and you'll probably not mind coming back... but it isn't a place you'll go out of your way to get to a second time.

I'm a fan of their K.C strip carpaccio appetizer. Other dishes that I have enjoyed are the salmon and shrimp risotto. Nice ambiance and I usually only think of going here for special occasions. This place can accommodate large groups pretty well.

My girlfriend and I went to yaya's for our anniversary this last month. Needless to say we were a little disappointed with the food. The restaurant looked really cool on the inside, we both liked the vibe of the whole restaurant. When we were seated I noticed on the little divider wall between booths there was a thick layer of dust and hair which immediately grossed me out. I ordered the Mai Mai, the waiter hesitantly told me it is prepared medium rare like I had never eaten Mai Mai or any other type of sushi grade fish before. The fish came out medium well (over cooked) and on a bed of rice. There was no color on the plate: the plate was white, the fish was white and the rice was white, my girlfriend and I were both floored that this over cooked dish looked as bland as a white wall. All in all next time I will take my $75 dinner tab somewhere else.

I'm from out of town, but travel to Wichita regularly. If u want a nice restaurant with great food AND servive, you have to go here. The Diver Sea Scallops were to die for. Highly recommended.

Next stop in Wichita, I am gonna hit this place up and have me some polenta. Good stuff.

It all began, or should I say ended, with the bug. When I was younger, my family would go here a lot. That is, until I found a bug in my salad. Upon sending it back we were told by a manager that there was no bug and it was insinuated that we were lying. So uncool. Well, after a long Yia Yia's sabbatical, I returned and found that the pan-roasted chicken was so good! Their hummus also isn't too bad.

Went for lunch. Service was fast and attentive. Vinaigrette on the side Greek salad was excellent. Shaved Parmesan on the Caesar salad was a nice touch. Lunch menu had nice variety. Food was very tasty. My only disappointment was I had hoped for a little more of a Greek focus to the menu instead of Mediterranean.

Great pastas. A little expensive, but the service is good.

Service for table in bar was fantastic and accomodating. Dined on the simple courses of salad and pizza and both were unique and much better than any standard bar could offer. Combine great service + good food + decent atmoshphere + fair price = Will return EDIT: Just went again this past weekend. Decided to add the 5th star. I can't recall if I have had a meal (lunch or dinner) that I was not completely satisified with and most of the dinners I have had, prompted me to think about why we don't just make this a "regular spot" in Wichita or Overland Park. Try the Flat Iron steak.

Was in Wichita training real estate brokers and agents for a week; I always ask for their favorites, and this was one of the top 3. Ate there twice: excellent service, excellent drinks (martinis and manhattans), great menu selection and wine list.

Yaya's is a unique restaurant perfect for any girls brunch or fancy night out. The service is great with a humorous and polite staff and the bread they give you before your meal is to die for. I've said it once and I'll say it again - if I was on death row and had to choose my last meal, one of the many entrees I would choose would be Yaya's lasagna. It's as if someone used the beef from an angel cow and tucked it in under a billion thread count sheet of pasta and then coated it with the cheese of your dreams and tomato sauce from God's own garden and I'm only slightly exaggerating. My boyfriend had the pepperoni and sausage pizza which was a HUGE portion that even he couldn't finish. It was a pretty amazing pizza but he spent the entire meal jealous of my lasagna from heaven. It's a little pricey but PERFECT for a date night - we will be returning!!

Stopped by to grab some Sunday brunch with a friend and I was thoroughly impressed by the food, presentation, and service. This is a buffet type of brunch with an assortment of breakfast food (make your own omelet, egg Benedict, biscuit and gravy) and fancy lunch stuff (salad, hummus, salmon, grilled veggies, carving station). The hummus was very tasty and it's a great place for vegetarians. The dessert and pastry section was a little disappointing; there were a wide variety of things to choose from, but none look super appetizing. I had some carrot cake and a small danish and it tasted very much like supermarket quality dessert. My friend enjoyed his cinnamon bun and mousse cake. The fruit was fresh. For the reasonable price of $17.99 before 11 am and $19.99 after, this Sunday brunch doesn't break the bank and I had a great time catching up with my friend. The brunch place seems more like a family affair and the crowd is a bit older, but that didn't really bother me. The service was excellent and my $4 mimosa was strong and delicious!

This was actually my 3rd time eating at Yaya's. It is a very nice place with unique and delicious food options. The wait staff are very nice and usually attentive. This time they got a little busy as we were finishing our meals and we didn't see our waiter for a while. The patio is a nice option when the weather cooperates. They sometimes have bands out there. It is a bit pricey but you aren't just paying for the fancy dishes, you are also paying for the fancy atmosphere. Not overly fancy but also not the kind of place to come dressed in your weekend sports wear and ball cap.

A bit on the spendy side, but lots of Euro and American options including muscles, salmon, shrimp, crepes, omelette and pastries. Plus the usual diner favorites. The buffet style allows you to have as much of your favorites and as little of new experiments as you want. Just make sure you arrive hungry!

  • K S.

Absolutely love the Sunday brunch with a mimosa...or two! A little expensive at $17.99 before 11:00 and $19.99 after, but it makes for a fun occasional treat. There is a huge spread starting with a salad bar, breakfast basics like eggs and bacon, the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had, eggs benedict, waffles, omelet bar, salmon, prime rib, pasta, dessert bar, and more.

Truly outstanding meal and the service was second to none. Had a work meeting there and it was my first time in town. VERY impressed. Amazing atmosphere and the staff couldn't have been any nicer. I will definitely be back as will my colleagues!

Stopped here for a quick lunch before flying home. The scallop special was incredible! Was worried it would be a little heavy with the rice for lunch but it was perfect. Scallops were cooked well, lots of great flavor. friend got the salmon w/lobster ravioli and raved of that as well.

The hubs and I stayed at a nearby hotel. We were looking for a light lunch when we decided to give Yaya's a shot. I am glad that we did. We sat at the bar. The service was great although I think that the server could have been a little friendlier (this is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5). We each enjoyed a glass of wine and a salad. I had the Beet Salad and he had the Greek Salad -- both were excellent. Very fresh ingredients. The meal started with a roll and some kind of delicious pesto/parmesan/olive oil spread, at least that is what I think that it was. The atmosphere is pleasant. We highly recommend this place!

Awesome place to eat. Amazing that same ownership - Larkspur. Well this is THE restaurant to go to. Excellent bar especially if Erica is working. And even better with Susanne, manager. I have been here a few times alone for dinner and staff makes you feel at home. Service and food are cosistent, large portions and soo good. Excellent bar and wine list.

Great service, decent menu, glass in my quinoa tenderloin salad. Seriously, I ate a few pieces thinking I had chewed on a hard peppercorn or errant piece of bone. I do not like to complain so I soldiered on until the big painful crunch. I pulled a piece out and sent it into the kitchen where they agreed it was glass. My salad and an additional beef carpaccio were comped. I appreciate the effort and you the reader can decide if my one star is an excessive reaction to being fed glass. Otherwise the food was tasty and well balanced. If I had not eaten glass I might go three or four stars.

The service here is excellent. I've always been greeted right away from the moment I step in the door. I feel comfortable wearing nice clothes or going just casual. The ambience is nice, clean, and trendy; it's a mostly finished wood interior. I've been here for brunch, lunch, and dinner for both casual and business meetings. The portions are good and usually come out within a reasonable time. The prices are a little elevated, but not too bad. I still remember seeing Kirstie Alley here once. (That's when I learned that she was born and raised here. ) If you come for the brunch buffet, you will be pleased at the large selection: breakfast items including pancake, bacon, eggs, waffle and omelets, and fruits and desserts. They have a nice selection of wine and beer. My last visit was for a business dinner and I was served a cabernet that I thought was one of my favorites, a Stags Leap, but turned out to be from a completely different winery. If you come here for lunch or dinner and are into having dessert, you must try the chocolate souffle.

I hope this was just a fluke but we waited an hour to get our entrees. They are usually very prompt and food is good. The excuse we got was the order for the banquet room went in right before ours. My response is that that room is booked way ahead and a well run restaurant always plans ahead for banquet prep. No discount was offered and no visit by management was to me disrespectful. Going to have to say Na Na to this place for a while till the sting wears off.

Once upon a time, Yaya's was the swankiest place in Wichita. Anybody who wanted to be somebody had eaten at Yaya's - including messy-haired fourth graders, such as myself, who endured the place settings with too many pieces of silverware and condescending looks from snooty men in suits all for that prized dirt and worms dessert. But like all long-standing establishments, Yaya's went through an awful, acne ridden phase. As a teenager, I pleaded with my parents not to drag me to that pretentious joint. There was nothing a poor vegetarian could eat...and even if there were, it'd cost $toomuch and be the size of my thumb. Even brunch offered limited prizes. As I aged, so did Yaya's, though its interior has remained pristine, unlike my exterior. Emerging unscathed from the ruckus of the early 2000s, Yayas modified its menu - attempting to become more hip than hop (away from). While the hummus appetizer is outstanding - thick hummus, neither oozing with olive oil nor rife with garlic, served with warm, thick, freshly baked pita is absolutely scrumptious. But combined with awful service - the waitress blatantly neglected the bread basket, and several prompts for more water during an 11:30 a.m. lunch - the mushroom and prosciutto pizza was lackluster at best, and blared of a fire-truck's dousing of truffle oil. Too rich to consume my half, I shamelessly scrapped off the remaining toppings to eat the crisp, moist dough unfortunately buried under what must have been a bottle and half of that prized oil. Yaya's, while on the upswing, best learn from its missteps. Too much truffle ruins perfectly primed prosciutto, a culinary crime of the utmost proportions. But I'll be back. Why? Because that crust was really excellent, the pita was awesome and those desserts look fabulous.

Expensive is one word to describe this place. But if you enjoy a great brunch with a lot to choose from, then it's worth it at that standpoint. I ate here with a large group, and towards the back of the restaurant, they have a large room to accommodate us. The waiter was very patient with us and when we requested more chairs for additional last minute people, he was very forth coming. For the few of us early people there, he got our drink orders. The brunch buffet is very large. Walking back, you have an omelet station, waffle station, large selection of cheese, fruits, and crackers. Towards the front, you'll find all of the breakfast items mixed with some seafood, and a few other things. The food was generally fresh and good. I had an omelet and the man who was cooking was very funny and very happy to be there. I would say the overall experience was good, the food was spot on good, and the service was great. The price of it is a bit too expensive, and the only way to save is to come earlier than 11 am to save a few dollars.

the place to go to have your brunch! their brunch on sundays is $15 per person, but they provide a lot of meat choices including salmon! and many many options to pick from. WORTH the money! their mimosas are really good. the atmosphere is a bonus. it is pricey but their food, service and atmosphere is worth the money.

I remember when Yaya's was first opened up. It was one of the places that locals would like to dine for various reasons. I even heard someone bragged about their dinning experience at Yaya's. Yes, Yaya's was once that instantly famous and attracted many locals back then. To me, this establishment taught me what silverware I need to use (too many of them were on the table) for which dish (one waiter kindly told me). It was a good memory. As the city expanded and added more restaurants, Yaya's started to lose their gold-standing status from customers (although their services and menu were remaining the same for a while). Transforming from a new and fancy restaurant, to a more stable and long standing dining establishment, Yaya's has missed a few good opportunities. Now, Yaya's became a good place for me to bring my old memory back. I personally like to see improvement of their dishes and menu to attract more customers. * Service: Good (however your experience might be different by who your wait staff is) * Price: Good - It really depends on where you live. If you come from a bigger city, Yaya's menu are priced reasonably. Even in Wichita area, this restaurant offers very reasonably priced meals (comparing to similar restaurants in this area). * Atmosphere: Average (a bit noisy when the restaurant has a full of customers) * Food Quality: Taste is above average (can be better) * Parking: It has own parking lot that accommodates many vehicles (no fee) * Recommendation: Try their drinks or/and desserts

I saw Priscilla's comments regarding the name. It is confusing. My receipt does indeed show YaYa's. However, there is a restaurant in Chesterfield, MO (STL area) by the name Yia Yia. They are related, but even on the corporate website, the Wichita location is spelled YaYa's. Go figure. More importantly, the restaurant is very nice. Client lunch. Fantastic day - clear skies, probably high-60's. Ate out on the patio. They pulled that patio off well, especially for the store front being in a kind of strip mall-type of setting. The patio is recessed back into the restaurant footprint. Didn't feel the bustle of a strip mall parking lot nearby. Had the portobello sandwhich. Tasty. Nice flavor. Side salad was a bit bland, and one in my party had a larger similar salad that she did not finish. I have eaten at the one in St Louis, and it is also good. Had dinner there.

Been to brunch several times because we like the variety of choices (4 stars), but we were extremely disappointed when we dined there for lunch (1 star). The red wine sangria was highly overpriced for it tasting straight up like juice only and both the steak burger and portobello wrap were soggy and lacking in flavor. We will only be returning for brunch and I will be sticking to Wine Dive for my sangrias

Just went here on Aug. 14. It was a Friday night and the outside area was packed because of outdoor music. We had no wait to get a table inside. The place was busy but not packed. The mozarella and tomato appetizer was good as was the hummus. I had a lobster pasta special that was pretty good as well. My friend had the garlic steak and said it was great. Overall a nice place. A little pricy but not too expensive. The chocolate suffle was great. Be sure to order in advance so they can prepare it.

Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Coming from Overland Park, where I had experienced Yia Yia's for years, I had pretty high standards and expectations. Well, polenta: check. Lamb: check. A bit pricy, but it's a fun place to splurge, and you might run into someone you know or would like to meet. It's a fun place for lunch and a nice place for a business lunch if you want to impress someone.

The ambiance is nice enough, but the food left me rather wanting, especially with a $$ kind of price tag. The "polenta" is duck confit and mushrooms drowned in a goopy balsamic jus topped with cheese. The waiter recommended the trout, which seemed more breaded and fried than sauteed, and overall kinda tough. The risotto was pretty good. For dessert, the creme brulee trio was also a bit disappointing. Chocolate brulee paired with blueberries, vanilla with raspberries, and watermelon with blackberries. Somehow I think the combo of berries and brulee needed a bit of swapping, and the watermelon brulee left an unpleasant aftertaste.

As the runner set my main course down in front of me, he asked me if I had ever had the Atlantic Salmon before. I replied in the negative. He then looked me square in the eye and said: "Prepare yourself. For an experience." He was a little late. For eleven months now I have gone to nearly every other major restaurant in Wichita, but held off on Yaya's. I knew it would be good, and I knew it would be waiting for me until I was ready. In the meantime, Yaya's has been serving its incomparable wares since 1996, a time long before the fresh ingredients and skilled preparation that is the hallmark of contemporary cooking began to slowly force their way into this isolated city of ours. And now I sat inside one of the city's fine dining pioneers, already finished with a very enjoyable gnocchi appetizer (though the nominal amount of shredded chicken included was overall superfluous), feeling pretty good as this guy is standing there holding my plate of salmon. He gives me his two cents and leaves me to be at peace with my fish. My excellently-seared piece of fish that went well with the homemade shrimp ravioli (a trick borrowed by sister establishment Newport Grill, though I found the filling in these a little bit more consistent), tied together with a shrimp sherry sauce that supported but didn't overwhelm. The only noticeable flaw I could find was that my asparagus wasn't blanched as long as it should have, leading it to be a tad undercooked. It happens. I sat at the bar and had the unfortunate timing of attending during the night of the high school prom. There were several tables of ladies in eye-burning fluorescent dresses covered in glitter and gentleman wearing ugly rented suits and hats tilted in a way to fool their dates into believing they had a sense of fashion. Those kids may have made countless mistakes later that night, but at least they could say they didn't regret the meal they had before the dance.

Ok, first off...it's called Yia Yia's Euro Bistro, but anyway... Seriously surprised by the quality of food here! I'd say the meal I had here was up to snuff with SF, NY, and Boston :) Starting with the best: + The duck breast (I think it was hickory smoked) was soooo juicy, fatty, flavorful, and tender. It might have been the best duck I've ever had. + Rigatoni with wild mushrooms and truffle - I said truffle, nuff said My steak (flat iron with frites) was done exactly medium rare but the shoestring fries (not my favorite shape) were a bit limp; overall, we had a great meal and great service though!

This appears to be the 'it' place to go in Wichita, which makes me kind of sad. The decor is nice in a generic way - it kind of ruined my impression of the place because it was so generic. For wine, I would recommend the Coppola Malbec - the perfect compliment to the steak which was atop potatoes and onions that were sauteed in a lush sweet sauce of sorts. Definitely cannot complain about the fare. Service was quite good as well, and the waitstaff was very attentive. So really, my only gripe is the decor, and if you don't mind dining in a place that looks like every other 'upscale eatery' where sugar daddies try to meet young women, then this is the place for you.

Yia Yia's (why they dumbed the name down for Kansas is a mystery...or not) has always been extremely hit or miss over the last few years in the food quality department. I recently went there and had hoped that the new ownership would improve the consistency, but apparently the changes have not yet kicked in. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of aesthetically appealing restaurants on the east side that offer appropriate business dining experiences, so by default you go to Chester's, Yia Yia's or Newport. I must say that I really do like the happy hour/day on Wednesdays as you can get $5 martinis (1/2 price). The bartenders are terrific and always willing to whip up a new concoction at your request. Also, they make their own candied fruit (oranges) that are fabulous in the drinks. I recommend skipping the appetizers and just drinking at this locale. :)

Went here after the Bradley Fair Summer Concert series with the performer and her band that night. They stayed open for us and brought out some pretty darn delicious food. Our waiter was fantastic, very accommodating and had fine recommendations. I can't say enough about the staff, cook(s) and bartender that stayed there after hours. We greatly appreciated them staying and feeding us!! They have a fabulous selection of infused vodkas. I'm not going to attempt to tell you what they were because I forgot. That night we had wine, margaritas, mojitos, infused drinks...and so on:) We feasted on appetizers that were absolutely delicious. My LA friends were in awe of the Gnocchi-herbed potato gnocchi, roasted chicken, Gorgonzola cream, spinach, spiced walnuts. Absolutely out of this world. YUM!! Hummus with grilled pita and calamari was brought out as well but it did not compare to the gnocchi. Scrumptious!! Main course: Diver Sea Scallops-Seared sea scallops, saffron orzo with vegetables and crab, lemon butter, orange gastrique, chervil. This medley just melted in my mouth. Fresh Atlantic Salmon-Grilled salmon, shrimp ravioli, asparagus, sweet onions, chardonnay-shrimp cream. He finished every bite and said it was delicious. They were out of the popular beef tenderloin so my friend got the Garlic Black Pepper encrusted Flat Iron Steak-Grilled onions, roma tomatoes, portabello mushrooms, cabernet butter. He stated that is was pretty darn good considering he likes the tenderloin. The wood fired pizzas are pretty good too. I can't remember which one he got but he didn't complain! To top it off they brought us an assortment of desserts. Oh my goodness. The one worth mentioning is the brownie wrapped in phyllo dough and baked. Can you say, "OH MY GOSH?" I can say that they spoiled us thoroughly. It was nice that even a restaurant in Wichita, Kansas could blow them off their feet. We left full and happy. Thanks for staying open for us and treating us so well. It was such an awesome meal.

We went here for an engagement anniversary dinner. If I had to describe YaYa's in a word, it would be consistent. Everything we have ever had here is consistently excellent, every single time. We started with the hummus, which is ubiquitous on appetizer menus in Wichita to the point of being a running joke. YaYa's adds chili oil to their hummus, giving it some added spice. The pita is toasted to perfection on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. My wife got the spinach side salad, I had the Greek salad. Hers had candied walnuts and sweet vinaigrette, pretty standard but still good. Mine was some mixed greens with sliced cherry tomatoes, onions, and feta cheese. The dressing was slightly bland but not bad. I will probably get the spinach salad next time. For the entree, my wife ordered diver scallops and I had the Atlantic salmon. The scallops came with risotto rice and sliced grilled asparagus. The scallops were done perfectly, and the rice was very good as well. My salmon was medium rare (as suggested by the chef) and came in a rich tomato cream sauce with lobster ravioli, sliced grilled asparagus, and pearl onions. This was fantastic, and played superbly with the Chardonnay that we had with dinner. Decadence on top of decadence. For dessert, the chocolate soufflé is the only way to go. It comes with whipped cream and custard with mint, raspberries, and blueberries. This was so rich it was almost too much, after the richness of the meal. After the meal we almost had to roll out. Fantastic food, knowledgable staff, and a subdued ambience, refined but not effete. YaYa's will continue to be a favorite of ours for the foreseeable future.

I had the KC Strip and was satisfied. My company had a private room and everyone seemed to enjoy. The filet, pork chop and rack of lamb all looked good. I'd go back. Desert , cheese cake was so so.

I'm a snotty East Coast girl who was entertaining more snotty East Coast friends in Wichita, and YaYa's was a great place for us all. I can't remember that much about the food because the wine recommended by our server was so good (this was the second bottle she recommended; she obligingly took the first back after one of us vetoed it). If I hadn't drunk so much of the delicious Pinot, I would remember the name of the wine, too. I do recall an excellent creme brulee sampler. My only caution: ladies, if you're wearing heels, watch out for the sometimes slippery floor tiles. You don't want to know how I know this. Just trust me. Nice outdoor seating, too.

I only ate here one time but it was a pleasant experience. I had the angel air pasta with grilled chicken, superb and filling. The dinner menu features pizza, pasta, as well as more complete meat, fish, and fowl entrees. I had a glass of beer because I was in a beer mood. But the wine list is extensive. The service was excellent. I'll be back here next time I'm in town. It's within walking distance of the Hilton Garden Inn.

Did Sunday brunch at Yiayia's while in Wichita. I must say the selection of food for the buffet brunch was shocking....absolutely huge selection. As for the taste / flavor of most of the food.....simply average to sort of good. Nothing stellar. One thing I did like that I found unique......for brunch, they have a "mix it yourself" Bloody Mary bar, where you can mix your own (they bring you the Vodka).

I've been to yia yia's numerous times over the past 5-6 years and the food is continually on the decline. The chopped salad I had last night was an embarrassment. I was with a party of five and the pasta dishes were well received and the salmon was fair to poor. The service is still some of the best in Wichita and the atmosphere is fairly good - although it hasn't been updated in years. Hopefully my experience last night was the result of a new kitchen staff and not a a typical night at yia yia's.

I went there on a Saturday for lunch and had hoped that it would be everything I had heard it was from various people. I was sadly disappointed. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich which was the special of the day. It was bland, and chewy. I had asked for a side salad and not fries. The waiter brought me fries. When I told him that he made a mistake, he took my plate, came back with it and it still had fries on it. Then he brought me my salad - it was soggy and bitter. My friend ordered the same thing I did - their special of the day - and she too got fries instead of a salad which she had ordered. The only thing that was tasty was the goat cheese appetizer. The waiter was going to bring us bread that he said came with every meal and never did. Overall - service was poor, food was unappealing with the exception of the appetizer, and I won't be going back. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and we didn't have any alcohol.
