The server took every order but mine, had to go to the back to request service, the drink did not come as the menu described. Haven't even received our food yet and totally disappointed.

Went for a mid-afternoon lunch. First time there. Had the BLT and my wife had the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich. The breads were all made from scratch and very tasty. The fries on the side were awesome. Portions were decent sized. Service was incredible, but we were the only ones in the restaurant, so there was that. Food was worth the price, but I think I would put the place closer to the $$$ level. be back.

I was excited to see Twelve open up in this spot. The area is undeserved for this category of restaurant. Unfortunately the food is simply average. I had a steak sandwich - the steak was full of gristle and very tough. The bread was a small step up from Wonder bread. At that was all it was. I didn't finish it. Service on the first visit was slow, but I wasn't mad when I left. So, I gave the lunch crew a try. Everyone can have a bad day, and new places are bound to have some hiccups. Incredibly the first experience became the highlight. I had the blackened fish sandwich, which was passable but not great. I did NOT have the crab cakes, because in addition to slow service they never brought out the appetizer. The waiter remembered when he brought the check, which is better than trying to charge me for something he never brought but still very annoying. With all this, I was still not firmly opposed to trying again, until I got my bank statement and discovered they added $2 to the tip. Wow, slow service, mediocre food, and theft. Maybe the next place will be better.

Tonight was great at Twelve. We enjoyed their Spinach Artichoke Dip as an appetizer. My wife had some wine and I had their Free State Seasonal on tap. It was a very lively atmosphere and the staff was polite and very attentive to our table. For our meals I ordered the ribs, full rack which was more than I could finish, they were fall-off-the-bone good. And they came with their fries which you have to try. My wife had their roasted chicken and loved it. She kept talking about the potatoes that were mixed under it. So yeah, great meal, good experience, highly recommended.

Wonderful evening out with family. Welcoming staff; our waiter Yannick was informative, attentive and delightful. The chicken Parmesan was delicious, and though trout is my least favorite fish, a taste of my son's made me envious of his choice! Definitely a place we'll be revisiting.

Twelve is wonderful. My family and I have become regulars here. We don't eat out as much as we used to, so when we do, we like to enjoy it. Twelve is able to provide a great experience. I'm a fan of the blackened fish sandwich, the crab cake, the steaks, the steak sandwich and, of course, the creme brulee. My husband and I have both also been please whenever we've ordered the specials. My husband had the lambchop special and he claimed it was the best he'd tasted in years. We were also really pleased with the brunch on Sunday. It does not disappoint.

We purposely don't go to restaurants for a few months just to let them work out the kinks. So we (group of friends) went on New Years Eve, even on their busiest night they performed wonderfully. We hung out at the bar for just a little bit and enjoyed a few drinks. After seated we dug in and I started with one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had. Followed with a perfectly cooked filet mignon with the sweet corn risotto and I sampled some fries too. VERY VERY tasty. Apple cobbler with ice cream for desert. Of course I ate too much, it was all really good! Dispute being packed for NYE, we could still enjoy normal volume conversation which was nice. The manager Bryce stopped by to our table (and others of course) to make sure we were all happy. If you live out west you've got to go! If you live out east (like we do) it's worth the trip for sure. Pick this over a chain and you won't be disappointed!

The front of the house and menu is very much like you will find if you go to Houston's in Kansas City (or in other cities). It's simple, clean, and the wait staff is eager and methodic. I've been for dinner three times and enjoyed my meals each time. The first week it opened my dinner partner had their steak prepared overdone (she wanted mid-rare, with a warm red center and got mid-well or well). Coincidentally (or not) the guests to our right also had overdone steaks. Overdone steaks is a mark of newer grill cooks or lazy grill cooks because they know if it's underdone people will ask to put it back on a little longer, so they just overcook everything knowing that the customer has to be so dissatisfied that they'll wait another 15 minutes to get a new steak. The next time I went with family and I got a prime rib and others got steaks that were cooked properly to order. We had lobster cakes, spinach dip, and a corn appetizer that were all very tasty. The last time I went I got the fish special which came with a side and salad for under $20. My fish was flavorful, moist and flaky and had good looking grill marks. The owner apparently managed Houston's at one time because it's menu and operation are very similar. The back of the house operations still need a little fine tuning to make sure that everything that comes out of the kitchen tastes great and is cooked properly the first time. Hopefully they'll fix that problem as they age and their cooks and managers gain more experience.

Had the opportunity to dine at Twelve on a Saturday night. My husband and I both ordered the prime rib. The steak was prepared as ordered, flavorful and delicious. The loaded baked potato was fabulous. Appreciate the personal care from the staff. Highly recommend this restaurant to all.

The atmosphere was nice, carpet selection odd. I had the red sangria and it was okay, pretty sweet. Appetizer selection was weak. We went with the golden trio which consisted of fried mozzarella balls, fried zucchini strings and fried mushrooms. This was okay, nothin exceptional. The zucchini strings were pretty mushy. I ordered the roasted chicken and broccolini and it was okay. My husband had the spicy shrimp pasta which was def spicy. Good portion size. Service was good. I wasn't overly impressed and isn't an experience I would mention to anyone.

Best steak I have had in a while... Me and two other friends went on a Friday night and ate out on the patio. They served rolls with a sweet cinnamon butter to start out our meal. I thought they were very similar to Texas Roadhouse bread/butter... and I thought they were OK, not amazing, but OK. My friends seemed to like them more than I did. Shrug. I ordered a 6oz CENTER CUT FILET... it came with 2 sides: mashed potatoes and french fries (which I substituted for the green beans). My steak was exceptionally cooked. It was so tender and flavorful. I was really impressed. My sides were weird. The potatoes had a weird gritty/grainy texture... their flavor was okay garlic/butter...but the texture was weird. The fries (which I substituted) were plastic tasting and very weird. I tried to dip them in ranch... but the ranch came out all foamy and strange and also had a strange flavor. So... I would have given 4 stars... but the sides were less than desired. The steak almost was good enough for 4 stars... but I had to downgrade. I had a bite of my friends steak also, he ordered the STEAK FRITES which had an amazing flavor as well. My other friend ordered the Parmesan Chicken and she said it was OK. I have a feeling she could have eaten the bread for an entire meal. I was very impressed with the quality of steak. I would absolutely return here and get another steak. The sides didn't do it for me though. Its too bad they didn't offer a baked potato so I know its real potatoes instead of weird plastic tasting ones. Our waitress was very good as well. Overall, I would definitely try again.

Very attentive and professional service. Had the cuban, nice bread and tasty sandwich. Oven roasted potatoes were way overcooked. Very tasty day soup of red pepper bisque. Creme brulee you dont want to miss.

I joined this site nearly six(!?) years ago to promote local businesses. I'd like to give five stars to every place I visit, but that wouldn't be fair to the ones that are truly doing excellent work. Businesses can grow and change, however, so sometimes I like to revisit to see if things have changed. But I wasn't going to drive way the hell out to the west side to revisit Twelve until Mr. Kuhn, the subject behind my previous review, contacted me and invited me to see how things have changed. Kudos to owners who are humble enough to reach out in a way that isn't laden with profanities or threats to litigate. Much of my last review was deconstructing my disappointment with the burger, and if I was giving a "Most Improved" award, this burger would get it. Well seasoned, well seared, not well done because I asked for it medium rare, and topped with a sharp cheddar and some caramelized onions, it was excellent all around. The thing that put it over the top was the homemade roll on which it was served, which provided plenty of heft to stand up to the meat but didn't overwhelm it. It certainly ranked among the best burgers I've had in Wichita. Had that been the end of it, Twelve would have easily been five stars, but I've been making an effort to provide more well-rounded reviews through multiple visits (much to the dismay of my waistline and wallet). I revisited the restaurant several more times. Not just restricted to hamburger buns, Twelve makes all of their breads and pastas in-house. It's refreshing to see, and serves a very successful improvement to nearly menu item, though the French bread used in the Cuban overwhelmed the ingredients and veered the otherwise well-meaning pulled pork and ham sandwich towards being too dry. With each successive visit it took me longer and longer to choose something to eat; the proteins are safe, gussied up with a lot of help from the supporting players. I don't know if the average Wichita diner knows the difference between a buerre noisette, buere blanc, gastrique, pan jus, and demi-glace, but when they're paired with green beans and mashed potatoes, there's an incongruity between the down-to-earth meats and sides and the classical French sauces. When expanding beyond meat-and-potatoes, the results can be extraordinary, though spotty. The salmon was on the overcooked side of acceptable, and its skin was disappointingly soggy. What made the dish great was the farro risotto, balancing the roasted notes of the grains with sweetness of the cherries and a little bit of crunch from toasted almonds. And the crispy kale! I could have made meal out of that alone. There was salmon left on my plate by the time it was taken away, but the farro was not. A similar situation happened with a special one night, a steak Oscar served with roasted and glazed brussel sprouts. The steak was cooked well, the tiny pieces of crab in the bearnaise sauce not providing much other than sweetness and graininess, but the sprouts stole the show. If there was a theme in my sampled dishes, it's an element of sweetness that is not always welcome. The sweet corn arancini exemplified this: the risotto is already sweet from the corn, but dipping the fried balls into an also-sweet Romanesco sauce skewed too much in the wrong direction. While I was finishing my burger, Mr. Kuhn ordered another plate of fries for me, claiming mine were looking a little limp (they were fine). It's a testament to the amount of work he puts into Twelve, a constant presence ensuring everyone is pleased. Ideally, though, the food would be up to his standards before leaving the kitchen. After exploring more of the menu, it seems to me like Twelve is attempting to model itself on YaYas: upscale atmosphere, excellent service, and crowd-pleasing stalwarts for the side of the city that's not often able to call such places their own. Also like YaYa's, I don't get the impression that there is a strong creative force challenging the cooks to think beyond the meat and potatoes that still makes a lot of people happy. Considering how busy Twelve still gets a year and a half after opening, I'd say they're nevertheless doing a pretty good job of giving the people what they want.

A bit pricey but worth the splurge for service and food. I got take out and wished I would have stayed in! The Cuban is a pretty good take on the real thing... missing a little bit of that je ne sais quoi... I don't think the pork was cooked with orange, lime, cumin, oregano (etc) like it should be for a Cuban. It was good pork shoulder but the pork shoulder is the key to a perfect Cuban. I am being picky, but the sandwich costs $11.90. It should be perfect! The bread was fabulous here.

Love, love, love this place. Food is amazing and the service is above average! And it's very nice inside. I will continue coming for brunch and dinner. Nice to have on the West side!

Good place for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Service is good, staff is friendly. We take our young kids here...especially on their designated family nights. It's a family favorite!

Excellent food and service. We drive from Derby to eat at this restaurant, never had a bad experience! Best of all, there is Crème brûlée for dessert...

My wife and I went for the first time last night. The menu had a wide selection which we like to see. We started off with the crab cakes which were amazing and my wife had a bowl of soup which was on the cold side. For the main course she had the shrimp salad and I had the Texas Cheeseburger. My meal was way over cooked, but she said hers was great. They are still pretty new so we let the issues with our meal slide. If we would have brought up the issues I am sure they would have been taken care of because the staff was great! Its a good place to go for a special night, but for a casual dinner its a little on the pricey side for what they offer and mixed drinks were a little on the high side as well.

We ordered the beef short ribs. They were good...but mine are better. They were a bit bland. Haricot verts were green beans not the thin French style green beans promised and they were cooked to complete limp mush. The bread was horrible. They were dense hard rocks that had the unappetizing appearance of turds. For the price of the entrée you would expect a house salad. That's why I only give it three stars. I might try it again sometime and try their salads or a sandwich. Waiters were very good. Refilling my husbands water glass several times without having to be asked.

Twelve is a very solid restaurant. Service was spectacular. The waiter was very engaged without hovering. He just kept appearing at precisely the right moments to refill waters, take away dishes, etc. I had the chicken parmesan and it was quite tasty. My wife was very pleased with her acorn squash soup and house salad with chicken as well.

Had dinner here last week for my birthday. Enjoyed the service and the food -- I had the tilapia & grilled veggies, husband had the ribs with fries & baked beans. Prices were reasonable; we had a rez but there was no wait at 6 p.m. on a Tuesday. Upscale casual ambiance -- dress was varied, from jeans to dresses. Would go again if I'm on the west side.

All of the food was great. Be patient with the wait staff, some are very new. The day we visited was their third day in business. I had the spicy shrimp pasta and it was spicy and great. My wife had the "fresh catch of the day" and loved it. This is located in the former Shorty Smalls. The prices are a little too high for the atmosphere and quantity of food, but not out of touch.
