Well I signed up for Yelp specifically for this. We went here on a business trip with 15-20 people. The staff was great and Emily did an great job. However, one particular patron of the bar repeatedly tried to fight me over no reason at all!! I guess I was supposed to fear him because of his neck tattoos??? He was a tiny little baby man... I felt bad so I didn't take him up on his offer. Never the less, do not go to this place!! I repeat do not go to this place! P.S. And for all the trolls of the internet I tipped the staff 30%. It's not their fault.

Not bad. Had chicken spinach sandwich, with a side of tots. Good beer selection. Good patio, good service. Nothing memorable this time. Would consider trying another menu selection next time around.

This place was awesome! Me and my boyfriend went for lunch after he picked me up from the airport and it totally hit the spot! The spinach and artichoke dip was superb! I got the pesto flat bread..YUMMY! He had the brisket sandwich and was super satisfied. They also had one of my favorite beers that I haven't seen anyone ever have as an option! Can't wait to go back!

My coworkers and I are in Kansas just for a few days and we decided to check this place out. One word: AWFUL. Granted they made me a great Moscow Mule, but refused two of my coworkers drinks because their driver licenses would not scan. Ironically, she served my other coworker a drink without swiping his card. My coworkers who were refused a drink are 23 and 24, well over the legal drinking age. We asked for the manager who refused to come and speak with us, but rather sent our waitress to explain the situation. After deciding we didn't want to waste our money in this place, I went to the bar to collect the check for my drink. The manager handed me my drivers license and refused to make eye contact with me. She acted as if she wanted nothing to do with me, and as a manager of my own restaurant, I know this type of behavior is completely unacceptable. I will never come back here, and if you're visiting the area don't go here either because if you're from anywhere but Kansas they won't accept your license.

our large party went to the Monarch to celebrate a reunion. The service was the worst I have ever experienced..we are all professional people and were there to have a good time..after speaking to the manager to see why our table was not getting served..we were made fo feel like we were an out of control group of children..the wait staff obviously needs some training if they could not handle our group. needless to say we will not return and will let our friends and family know there are many other great resturants/bars in Wichita, that offers great food, service and drinks.

The Monarch is a newer establishment in the Delano district, but it quickly became the premier location in the area! With a great sandwich based menu, gourmet cocktails, local beers on tap, and an exceptional wait staff; The Monarch is a hard place to beat! My favorite quality about The Monarch is their patio experience. Their patio wraps around over 50 percent of the building in a very open, social setting. You get to observe all the happenings of Delano as it sits right at the roundabount. Additionally, the restaurant is wide open to the patio through large garage doors, so walking in and out to socialise is extremely natural and pleasant. If it's a nice day and you are looking for an outdoor bar and grill experience, The Monarch is the place to be!

Usually very happy with this place. Has a nice hipster vibe in the Delano district, and a good beer selection. We went with some friends for drinks, around 9pm on a Thursday night. It was suggested by the waitress we order the "Schooner" of beer for $0.50 extra. Great! 22oz instead of 16oz the waitress said. So we did. Upon further investigation we found the 22oz "Schooner" was actually 16oz. Lighthearted and jovial after 1 drink, I didn't need the extra 6oz of beer anyway. Jokingly, I mentioned to the waitress, "watch this". I poured a full 16oz pint into the "22oz Schooner" showing her that both drinks were equivalent. Well the reaction I got wasn't what I expected. She immediately became defensive, and said, "OK, what do you want me to do with that information, huh?" with a scowl. Someone was having a bad day. Or I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt. Within a few minutes, we asked for a check, and it was brought to us 15 minutes later. I had to flag down another waitress, as ours was cleaning tables for another 20 minutes.

The staff is always cheerful, friendly and helpful and the Monarch beer selection is always on point #mysterybeer I don't particularly understand sweet potatoes, but my friends who do love the sweet potato tots. I would like more nacho based items to be added to the menu. That's how I feel about all menus. VIVA LA QUESO!
(5)Bill L.
Had the Reuben. Nice balance of sauerkraut, nice tender smoked corned beef, and plenty of melted cheese. Bread was nice and crisp too. Side I chose the warm potato salad. This is more like potato soup...I will stick with the sweet potato tots for future orders.

Sunny and beautiful in Wichita for my visit, did a walk along the river where yelp led me here. I started with the stuffed portabella mushrooms. They were good but not great. I would have loved more cream cheese in them. I followed it with the sausage and cheese tray...I should have gotten this first, as it was huge. They apparently smoke their own meat and cheeses. The platter also came with olives, pita bread and peppadew peppers...this was my first time having those peppers, and they were awesome. About the size of a cherry tomato with a sweet and spicy taste. Next time I would ask for more peppers and less cheese :)

I knew just from looking at this place I would like it. Set at the end of the roundabout in the Delano district, with giant garage doors that open onto a perfect patio for potent potables, this is my favorite kind of outpost. Luckily for me, the food and the service stand up to the promising exterior. The affable Shelley took good care of us, offering helpful suggestions and keeping my club soda properly topped off! I loved the setup inside. Some tall tables, looking all handmade and industrial, lower tables outside of the cocktail area, and just the right amount of bric a brac. This was just right: something interesting everywhere you look, but not just a bunch of random crap covering every flat surface like you see some places. It also seemed like everything was meaningful, important to someone at the Monarch. It was kind of a weird time to eat, but I wanted to have a bite before getting back on the road for OKC, so we split the spinach artichoke dip (served with crisp veggies and we added a side of naan), the pesto chicken flatbread, and I got a fresh side salad that was sort of a meal all on its own. The salad was absolutely delicious, thanks to really fresh noms and a really excellent honey mustard dressing. The spinach dip was also among some of the best I've had. The entire tab clocked in at under $20, color my expense account happy! I will absolutely be back to try more of this fun, affordable menu and enjoy the great music and the cool atmosphere.

The Monarch is a breath of fresh air for the Delano neighborhood. With it's huge variety of whiskey and delicious gastro-pub menu it definitely stands out. It has one of the best patios in the city with a great view of the roundabout clock tower. The interior has some of the coolest art I've seen. The high top tables and light fixtures all look handmade and super awesome. I really love their spinach & artichoke dip. It's served in a bread bowl with carrot sticks and cucumber slices. I can't pin down what exactly makes it stand out above others but it just really hits the spot. I typically get The Monarch, perfectly smoked juicy brisket with sautéed red peppers, and melted provolone cheese. But I decided to try something new. The chicken & pesto flatbread didn't disappoint. I look forward to returning and eventually trying everything on the menu!

A couple of friends and I went here on a Sunday night. I ordered the Chicken and Spinach Sandwich with the house seasoned chips. The chips were good and crispy but could use a more seasoning. Like many other reviewers my sandwich had good flavor but was on the dry side. I actually had to use ketchup to add another flavor profile. I'm sure if there was more artichoke dip it would be much better. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. I really enjoy the atmosphere at this restaurant. I would come back again, but would try other selections on the menu. They have a wide selection of drinks to choose from.
(3)Bonnie R.
The Monarch is exactly what Delano needed. A gastropub located close to downtown, this is one of my favorite places to dine. The service is always fast and friendly, the drinks are great, and the food is always delicious. I have to order the spinach and artichoke dip every time I'm there, it's my favorite item on the menu. It's so creamy and full of flavor but the veggies allow it to not be too filling so I can still chow down on my entree. I recently tried the grilled cheese which was rich and filling. The sweet potato tots are A+, especially dunked in ranch! I love the variety of infused vodkas The Monarch offers. The garlic infused vodka in the Bloody Mary is sooo good! The atmosphere of the bar is some of the best in town. The local art and light fixtures are stylish and fun, the seating is plentiful, the patio is huge, and the pool table is great for after dinner fun!
(5)Casey K.
As I said earlier, the environment is excellent. Colliding the environment with taste bud exploding food will make your head spin. Our server Charlie was top notch. Get out of suburbia and get downtown now.
(4)Ryan K.
What I truly love about this place is the array of Kansas crafted beer you have to select from. To put the icing on the cake, food is fantastic and very well priced too. I have always had great customer service and yet to of disliked any sandwich offerings available. Bring some quarters, play some pool and enjoy the environment!

Took a group of 30+ people there on a week night for food before walking to the baseball game and what a huge disappointment and upon bring the issues to the attention of the owner she suggested we go elsewhere next time. This group was no surprise to the owner as it was arranged weeks ahead and the food pre-determined so there was absolutely no reason to not have the proper staffing and the food (BBQ sandwiches) ready. Most of the group arrive around 5:30 p. m. and we were rushed to get out for there just before 7 p. m. It is inexcusable to have one server working this size of group and, according to the server, the kitchen was understaffed. Our table seemed typical in that the food came such that half the people had their food eaten before the rest was served. This, in itself, is bad bad. My sandwich arrived partially warm and I dared not send it back fearing to never see it again. One in our group that had arrived by 5:30 p. m. never was served his food! This is shameful. DO NOT take group there and be very cautious going there if you expect good and timely service. Perhaps when this place looses business they will then pay attention to service and one day, going back there, may not be a miserable experience.
(1)Kayla M.
The Round House sandwich was wonderful. House chips are equally as good. Minus the unclean server, and cigarette whole in his shirt. Was a pleasant experience. Management was attentive and food was quick.
(3)Emily S.
I've been looking forward to trying this place for a while, so when I finally did last night I left feeling a bit disappointed. Came in the door off the parking lot on the south, no one is there to greet you nor is there any signage instructing you to seat yourself. Awkwardly hung around for a couple of minutes before finally seating ourselves. Service wasn't stellar. Had to ask each time we wanted our drinks refilled. Ordered the Chicken and Spinach Sandwich. It was supposed to have spinach and artichoke dip on it but it definitely did not as the sandwich was dry as a bone. The chicken was insanely dry too. Very little flavor to it. I paid the extra $1 to have a "premium" side which was a bit of a waste. Got the hot baked potato salad and it was very soupy. Ate about two bites before I gave up on it. I really wanted to like this place. The decor is amazing! But I'm not sure I'd come again. Best part of the meal was my watermelon margarita, very tasty!
(2)Roger L.
Great food. Good atmosphere. Good service. Good service. Killer patio. Yep, 5 stars.
(5)Miss R.
I dig it. Chill, relaxing, nice staff, good drinks.. Haven't tried the food yet but I will be back.
(4)Brooke K.
Best Sweet potato tots I've ever tasted!!! I love the Turkey cranberry until today, I tried the chicken and spinach now I can't decided which is my favorite. the atmosphere is great and the wait staff is too.
(4)Reed N.
A couple of lunches here and I've stuck with the BBQ Pork so far. The pork has a bit of smoke flavor and is topped with BBQ and creamy cole slaw. I love that. It's messy, but it's yummy! Friendly service on both visits when I sat at the bar.
(4)Gabe C.
Pretty good ribs. I was so full I couldn't put a dent in the sweet potato tots. Slaw was okay as well. Wednesday is $4 bourbon night. Basil Hayden's, yes please. Looks like it'd be a pretty cool venue to day drink at.
(3)Lacey H.
The menu looks great but my sandwich was a little dry. But the place, the music is enough for me to give it another shot and try a different item. The desert and service were great though!
(3)A. C.
We went about a month ago at the advice of my hairdresser down the street. It was muggy and humid in there, we should have left when we sat down and realized it was so hot. It was raining outside so we couldn't sit on the patio. Our server was great. The food was not. I got the brisket sandwich---room temperature and the cheese was still solid (but also room temp). The chips were pretty good. My guy had the quesadillas, they were simply ok and also room temperature/warmish. I could make them at home, nothing that stood out. Décor was interesting and I bet it's a jumping joint on weekends.
(2)Mary W.
Their kitchen closes at 9:45. I thought you should all know this since it says its a restaurant that's open till midnight... didn't get to try any of the food. But the staff was friendly when they told me that the kitchen was closed.
(3)Terry D.
Came here for lunch and upon entering this place, my co-worker and I felt a little lost since there was no greetings or signs in regards to seating. We stood there for a good 10 minutes wondering if we seat ourselves or wait for someone to seat us. Made awkward eye contact with a couple of the servers and eventually we just sat down at a table. After that someone finally came over with a couple menu's. The menu wasn't extensive mostly, salads and sandwiches. We decided on stuffed mushrooms for the appetizer and I ordered their "beyond downtown club" which consists of smoked turkey and ham layered with duck bacon. The duck bacon is what sold me on this sandwich. The stuffed mushrooms were pretty good since they were stuffed with brisket burnt ends, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. The sandwich itself wasn't too impressive, the only thing i liked was the duck bacon but besides that the sandwich itself is average. While I was eating a spider decided to dropped by my ear and say hello which in turn led to me killing it. I wasn't too pleased with it being near me while I was eating, it kind of ruined the ambience for me and it surely didn't help make a better impression on this place for me.
(3)Anne B.
Smoked meat sandwiches and bourbon. If you are a man you owe this to yourself. If you are not a man they have sweet potato tots.
(5)Craig B.
Our favorite sandwich place in the Wichita area. It is attached to the parking lot of Lawrence-Dumont baseball stadium. Really looking forward to some great pre-game meals on their patio once the weather gets warmer. Really good food. Really great servers. Really great beers and bourbons!
(5)Eamonn H.
I had a beer brat and a larrrrge beer. Food was delicious (those loaded tots that my friend had were phenomenal), staff nice enough to recommend some things to check out when we told them we were from out of town (unfortunately we didn't get to see much, back out in the morning). I liked it!
(4)BeautyBy S.
We gave Courtesy call prior to our arrival and simply asked quoted "are you guys still serving food"the individual who answered the phone responded "if you hurry" upon out arrival we received mass shady eyes and bystander commentation The awkward stares made me slightly wearily of what foregoing objects may or may not be in my food .... Nonetheless after through inspection of my turkey and cranberry sandwich the meal was tasty but not tasty enough for me to crave
(2)Jackie B.
Both times the service was poor. The staff seems bothered by having to do their job, kinda rude actually. The food menu is very limited, mostly sandwiches. I got the turkey with cream cheese. There was no cream cheese on it. No flavor, and dry as a bone! My boyfriend had the club, flavorless and dry as well. Sweet potato tots were good, fries were ok. Bottled beer was not cold, no glass or orange slice for my shock top. I like the patio or I wouldn't have gone back.
(1)Tony H.
Unfortunately I didn't get to try the food. Waitress didn't return. Two servers passed the table several times. Twenty minutes later I went to the bar to pay for my drink. There weren't even a dozen people in the restaurant, I'd hate to see how bad service is when they're busy.

My husband and I stopped in Wichita to rest before moving on to Texas for Christmas. We found The Monarch on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We typically have such bad luck finding restaurants on the road. So we were delighted to stumble on The Monarch. Great food and terrific service at a decent price. I had to give it 5 out of 5 stars because it was a much needed pit-stop. :) I had the Chicken Spinach sandwich and the sweet potato tots. My husband got a couple of apps--taco bowls and fried mushrooms. Everything really hit the spot. The waitress kept refilling my iced tea; I was amazed she would always come out at the right time. I totally recommend giving this place a shot. Your stomach will thank you.
(5)J. Peter F.
Haven't eaten here yet but worth noting that they stop serving food at 11 on weeknights and at 9 on Sundays. Great beer selection.
(4)Tad S.
Not a bad option for what I would term as "upscale bar grub." Neat atmosphere, with decent beer selection, and several rotating infused bourbons and vodkas. Had the "Roundabout"- a smoked ham, brie and Apple sandwich. Although my "Pressed French Roll" that it came on seemed slightly over-pressed... IE- a little charred, still not a bad sandwich overall. The sweet potato tots seem fresh / made in-house. Service was good. I would go again. Probably more of a 3.5 review, but giving the benefit of the doubt to round up. Go see them!

The girl looked up from her generous pour of Merlot - 6 ounces somehow became 10 as the bartender emptied the bottle into her glass. He could tell she'd been having a shabby afternoon, and what's a few more drops of magic going to do other than cheer her up? She thanked the young man, and swiveled around in her chair to gaze out the giant glass garage door acting as one wall of The Monarch. She could see the beginnings of a snow storm...the white dander glowed under the influence of streetlights, which may have well been gas lamps, as it gently piled atop the fence posts, rooftops and antiquated signs of Delano. Finishing her peppermint stick and elegantly tossing back that last drop of dry fluid, she requested a Sazerac. Though two young mixologists hadn't heard of the New Orleans style Old Fashioned, they attempted to make this peculiar request for her...doing what they could, substituting Jagger for Absinthe and cutting the simple syrup...rye became rye-whiskey. And though that drink didn't taste quite like the girl's throwback comfort, she delighted at the effort, and left The Monarch feeling quite like a butterfly in the springtime - slightly giddy and all warm on the inside. After all...there's something to be said about excellent customer service, and experimental bartenders willing to bend mixology rules just to see if your drink of choice could be made.
(5)Michelle L.
Good food and the loaded sweet potato tots on the appetizer menu are amazing!!! and a must to order!
(4)Brad D.
Great Decor with original art Web Connected Jukebox Duck Bacon!! Daily Smoked Meats Good Food I'm sure taking over the Garage was quite the task, but they completed it nicely by gutting it and putting in new tables and art by local artists. They're still kicking around an ugly Pabst mirror, so let's hope someone goes in there and trades some good art for it. Personally, I think both Pabst signs need to be removed because the lit up one distracts from the TV. It almost hurts the eyes to look at it! Check out the bike wheel lights over the bar, super cool and I heard Gavin Peters made them..Is that true?! As I notated above the Jukebox is connected to the Internet. That's a big deal because ultimately the patrons control their destiny and it's great to sit around with friends and talk while exposing friends to new tunes. I ordered their version of the BLT, but I subbed the ham for smoked chicken and there were no complaints about doing so. The bacon, seriously was duck. I've eaten a lot strange meats, including duck, but never duck bacon. I also like how the names of items on the menu have local appeal. This is the type of place people from out of town should visit. Not to mention it's within walking distance of the Exploration Place and the river. Anyways, food came out as requested and tasted good. I would have preferred my bread to have been toasted, so I may request that next time too. I ordered sweet potato tots because that sounded awesome and unique, but everyone else must have thought the same because they were out! It was their first day after their soft open, so I can only expect that running out won't happen again. It was a fun atmosphere and me and my friend hung out talking for quite a while. There was a steady flow of people that seemed to know the owner, so I hope people begin to hear about this new spot. I think it's a great replacement for the Garage, the food is definitely a lot better and the creativity of the menu is really neat!

We visited the Monarch on a Friday night around 6:30. We were able to get a table right away, and our server came to our table not long after we were seated. That's always a good start to eating out on a Friday night in Wichita. The atmosphere was pretty cool. They have darts and a pool table, along with different types of seating (bars, booths, tables, etc). Tons of beers available in bottle or can (on Fridays, most of the beers in bottle/can are only $3 - not much more than a single selection at Jacob's Liquor), and 6 on tap. They have Guinness on tap as well - which is always great! The food choices are more directed for lunchers (mostly sandwiches with meats they smoke in house) but I still had half of my sandwich to take home so I left satisfied. I got the veggie sandwich, which I wasn't too impressed with. It had a mix of veggies (mushrooms, peppers) but the way that they prepared them they lost their individual flavors and kind of melded into one big mush with cheese. This was the only veggie option, besides a simple grilled cheese, but their non-veggie options looked pretty good with simple and interesting combinations. Hubs got the hot link which featured spicy mustard, link, and bread. I'm pretty sure he was a fan. Sweet tator tots were yummy - they tasted like the fair. But the fries were much better with some sort of delicious seasoning. If I were to go back, I think I'd just want a huge plate of fries and a beer. Yum :) I think I would recommend the Monarch based on atmosphere, service, and beer selection. For carnivores, I think you'll enjoy their meat selection - so go visit.
(4)Dom W.
Met a friend from school at the Monarch for dinner. I had a brisket sandwich with Dijon mustard on a toasted bun. My side was the homemade chips. Our server, Shelly, was attentive and took good care of us. The place was kinda loud, probably not a good place for conversation. Good menu, I'd go back if I ever return to Wichita.
(3)Jason L.
Had the stuffed mushroom caps. Amazing. Brisket in a mushroom is amazing. Also had the spinach artichoke chicken sandwich. Love them both separate, so together they were awesome.
(4)Traci C.
Not impressed. Food was averaged at best. Didn't get order right. BBQ was nothing to right home about.
(1)Tanna K.
i tried their turkey sandwich but didn't like how they cut up their meat but other than that, it tasted good. they had great beer and i LOVED the seatings outside.. it is a great place to meet up with friends and have drinks
(4)K R.
The sweet potato tots are really good, as well as the sandwich selection. I also recently tried the chicken fingers, which had an Asian twist, so that was good. Decent selection of beers and good location in Delano. It's a nice place, but Public is still probably my favorite.
(3)Jordan G.
Sweet potato tots... Enough said lol but seriously great food, great service, and a really cool atmosphere.
(4)Nathan E.
The location of The Monarch is good, right by the stadium near downtown Wichita. The beer selection is pretty decent as well (though I was led to believe it was more like The Anchor than it is). My biggest complaint about the beer is that when I ordered one I received a bottle, and was never offered a glass to pour it into. The food was your regular sandwich-fare and they do them really well. I ordered a Cuban which was very good, although not the best Cuban I've ever had by any means. The chips were great though and you can tell they're handmade which is a really nice touch that I wish more places would do. It's not the prettiest place on the inside, going for more the industrial modern look I guess, though I wouldn't totally call it a "garage" type place. It's really plain and open, but it's nice that way and it works. The staff are very friendly as well, and were kind enough to wait on me while I was waiting for the person I was meeting. I would definitely go here again, but it didn't wow me into craving it.
(3)Brianna E.
Great area in Delano, nice building. I liked the ambiance of the place and the option to sit outside while I eat and enjoy my beer, but that's not enough to make me want to return. Overall- Their over priced food was surprisingly pretty bland. Their house chips are pretty good, I'll give them that, but there was too much going on with the veggie sandwich I had. The marinated veggies turned the focaccia bread into a soggy mess. The bread choice wasn't right for this sandwich anyway, it took away more from the sandwich than it added. It really just wasn't good. I paid a $1 more for their fries and regretted it. I ended up not eating them and stealing a few house chips from my husband. Peppadew hummus was eh okay, the mushroom caps were pretty good, but not so amazing I'd want to pay $9 for them again. So really while it's a nice venue with plenty of room for large groups, their food and definitely their pricing has nothing on several other places in town. Honestly it's like a bland version of the Anchor, but some people like that.
(2)Torin A.
Great atmosphere, location, food and drink selection. The service is great. Each server makes you feel welcome and is quick and easy to communicate with. Check out the sandwiches and signature cocktails. It's a great place for meetings during the day or evening. I cannot wait to have for warmer weather to have a drink on the patio and watch the sun set on Douglas street.
(5)Samantha B.
The Monarch is one of my favorite spots in Wichita. The central location (next to Lawrence Dumont) is convenient and quick from any side of town. They have great drinks specials each day of the week and a decent selection of beers (both draft and bottle). A major bonus are the house infused vodkas (garlic is my favorite). There is nothing on the food menu that I haven't liked. For an appetizer, I always order the fried green beans with the garlic aioli (I would bathe in it if I could). Don't snub your nose at the salads! The grilled cesear is great. Make sure to try one of the smoked meats they use in the sandwiches. If you choose the sandwich route, make sure to try hot potato salad. The fresh made chips are great as well. This is a must try for everyone in Wichita!
(4)Keith M.
my favorite place in wichita right now. the food is killer. not your average boring junk. they smoke all of their own meat, and their brisket is some of the best ive ever had. try the hummus, or the loaded sweet potato tots. if you order the wings, dont schedule anything else for the rest of the day. you're gonna need a nap. so killer! if you love bourbon, hit them up on wednesday when their huge selection is only $4! they also infuse thier own vodkas, which my wife loves. all of their drinks specials are pretty reasonable. great decor. all of the art in the bar was purchased from local artists. check out wade hamptons piece by the pool table! great customer service! ive never had to wait long for drinks or food. clare and jesse are the best servers ive ever had in town. they havent been open very long, but i can only see things getting better for the monarch. you can thank them when you visit, for getting rid of those horrible neon palm trees in delano!
(5)Stephanie H.
My friend and I tried Monarch for lunch using the My Perks deal and we very much enjoyed it! I got the brisket sandwich with cheddar and horsradish with sweet tator tots. My friend got the cuban with the hot potato salad. I loved my sandwich, the brisket was awesome! My friend loved her sandwich as well, but we both fell in love with the hot potato salad, OMG! Service was great! Only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I felt it was a little pricey, especially for lunch. The sides are an extra $1 with the sandwich that is $8.50. Otherwise, highly reccomend!
(4)John S.
Ok we showed up late after a long road trip and this placed delivered some amazing BBQ the wings and pork sand which it's what we needed thanks guys
(5)Natalie J.
Mushroom caps are to die for and the chips are the best potato chips I've had anywhere, store or restaurant.
(4)Darla D.
Monarch was excellent. The food was wonderful and the service was perfect. We had a veggie sandwich and the turkey with Gouda and cranberry relish-- highly recommend both! Definitely going back!
(5)Daryl B.
Nice setup, with good food, great music, in a fun, trendy atmosphere! I love this place!!

My husband and I patronized Monarch on its opening night. We were left mildly underwhelmed, but not without hope. The Good: - Home to several other great local establishments, Monarch is located in Delano. The decor is casual/industrial and looks fantastically rustic. - They offer a line of in-house infused vodkas, though I'm not sure what flavors...I think I saw some cucumbers. - One of the items on the menu was sweet potato tots. These sound delish. - The homemade chips are de.lic.ious. The Mediocre: -The menu was a small disappointment. I was hoping to see a little bit more outside the box of typical Wichita fare, but it definitely included hummus and spinach dip- two items I think Wichita has more than enough of. - Our waiter seemed largely confused during most of our time with him. He was unfamiliar with the beers on tap, the menu (unable to tell me the ingredients of house salad or dressings available), and we were left waiting for about 10 minutes after our plates were cleared for him to bring over our checks. - My Cuban Sandwich was mildly under-pressed, leaving the cheese partially unmelted and the meat at room temperature. It had potential, but sadly, fell flat. The Bad: - They ran out of sweet potato tots on their very first night. And were were there at 6pm. In my opinion, this was a pretty major flaw considering that these are both a possible side dish to all of the sandwiches (which make up about 1/3 of the menu) and an appetizer. Come on, Monarch. - This establishment appears to have done minimal to no advertising for its open. The place was pretty dang bare at 6pm and had mildly picked up by 7 when we left (about 1/3 full). I'd love to see a bit more internet presence All that being said, I am not without reason. I realize that there are some hiccups that occur with a new business and I definitely think that Monarch has some serious potential. I've been making an effort to spread the word because this is exactly what Wichita needs more of: small, local restaurants with quality food.

Great GastroPub! Amazing libations, and service is outstanding.. but thats not the best part.. The FOOD! Is clearly the star. I recommend fried green beans, with Garlic Aoili, and for dinner dont skip the side salad.. I love most of their sandwhiches but they have an interesting take on the philly cheesesteak.. its made with brisket and its AMAZING!

Love the atmosphere, love the service and food! GREAT! Definitely better than that awful local Merle's Place or the Shamrock. The monarch always has great food and great drinks and great service. Love it!

Before we went out last night, we had heard mixed reviews about the food among our friends. A few of our friends said that every time they went out to The Monarch and asked for something, the waitress told them that they didn't have it or a component of it. The one time I went to The Monarch before last night, it was okay - nothing special, but not bad either. However, last night's service was terrible from start to finish. Our drinks took a long time to get to us. We had to ask multiple times for them. Our waitress would disappear for a while and then visit the table to ask if we were okay and we'd remind her about the drinks. Our friends were just drinking soda and water, but it took even longer for them than it took for the bar drinks. My fiancé ordered two Bloody Mary's. Neither of them had Olives and she never brought him any, even though he asked over and over again. When the food finally got to the table, they didn't bring mine. I specifically ordered the simplest thing on the menu - a grilled cheese sandwich - because by that point I didn't trust them not to screw something else up and they still figured out a way. I sat there, while my friends ate and I waited. My fiancé gave me a couple of bites of his Reuben and it was exactly like I remembered - okay, but nothing worth coming back for. A friend who also got the Reuben started telling us about some great places in town that made better Reubens. Finally, as everyone was finishing dinner, my fiancé went to ask the waitress about my sandwich. It had been sitting up in the window, waiting to be served. By the time it got to me, the cheese and fries were cold. We didn't make a big issue out of all her mistakes. She already knew she was screwing up. She made excuses for her terrible service, saying that she was not used to working evenings. She usually works the lunch shift. However, she didn't do anything to make up for it. We won't go back there again.

I thought The Monarch was pretty awesome. They serve appetizers and sandwiches and a ton of drinks. We started with the hummus, which was DELICIOUS! It's served with naan bread, though not enough to finish the whole bowl of hummus. For $1 we were able to get another plate on naan. For my entree, I got the Philly Cheesesteak with BBQ chips. The sandwich was good, not spectacular, but I really enjoyed the chips. Slightly sweet, which was unexpected. The service was excellent- really sweet server. The music was "adult alternative" and it made me happy. It wasn't too loud, and they have pool and darts. I think I found my favorite new place to hangout.

(2)Byron L.

The Round House sandwich was wonderful. House chips are equally as good. Minus the unclean server, and cigarette whole in his shirt. Was a pleasant experience. Management was attentive and food was quick.
(3)Gabe C.

I dig it. Chill, relaxing, nice staff, good drinks.. Haven't tried the food yet but I will be back.

Best Sweet potato tots I've ever tasted!!! I love the Turkey cranberry until today, I tried the chicken and spinach now I can't decided which is my favorite. the atmosphere is great and the wait staff is too.

A couple of lunches here and I've stuck with the BBQ Pork so far. The pork has a bit of smoke flavor and is topped with BBQ and creamy cole slaw. I love that. It's messy, but it's yummy! Friendly service on both visits when I sat at the bar.

Hundreds of thousands of years ago, we discovered fire. Five hundred years ago, we used it to smoke meats. A hundred and fifty years ago, we used it to char oak barrels for the aging of spirits. Kansas may have banned cigarettes in bars four years ago, but there will always be an inherent smokiness to bars, whether it's the foggy mind that comes from late night drinking or the simple manifestation of its flavors in food and drink, like what can be found at The Monarch. Almost everything on the menu is smoked. It could easily turn into a gimmick, though The Monarch exercises restraint and largely sticks to smoking meats - ham, brisket, chicken, pork, and sausages, though some cheddar, gouda, and cremini mushrooms also receive some time in the smoker. The list reads largely like that of a barbecue restaurant, but it shouldn't be confused for one: the smoke here is more subtle, and there's no rub applied to the meat before cooking. A pitmaster would never half to slice their brisket as thin as The Monarch, either. The meats are used as ensemble players in a menu of sandwiches and appetizers, ranging from the stalwarts - wings, potato skins - to interesting variations on traditional dishes. Those smoked creminis are put to good use in an appetizer when stuffed with cream cheese, cheddar, and brisket, and could serve as a meal in themselves if you find yourself unable to share. Sweet potato tots receive a similar indulgent upgrade with the addition of cheddar cheese, duck bacon, and ranch for dipping. While the tots are good, the homemade chips serve as a better partner to the confident straightforward sandwiches. Smoke mellowed the acidic bite of the corned beef Reuben, though it brought complexity to the Cuban. The pulled pork sandwich was a serviceable wash. The menu does throw some curve balls - a ham sandwich is layered with apples, brie, and dijon, and the club sandwich uses that duck bacon again, though in this application I would have been happier with the real thing. It would be giving short shrift to The Monarch without mentioning their extensive collection of bourbons. Very nearly every brand the stuff that's available in Wichita can be found here, and the United States' native spirit is celebrated in flights, in homemade infused flavors, and during the occasional bourbon appreciation classes. Between the booze and the food, The Monarch has established a strong identity in the two years they've been in business. It's a good fit amid the storefronts and clock tower roundabout that define Delano. It would be nice to see them continue evolving the menu to refine the narrative thread that defines the establishment, but in the meantime I'll just order another Manhattan.
(4)Brian R.
One of the few late night establishments in Wichita offering food until 9 pm on weeknights. Which is very good I might add. Friendly staff, Much better than average. A pleasant find for the area.
(4)Jeff M.
Fantastic bar- beer, whiskey, handcrafted cocktails. My personal favorite Garlic Bloody Mary with house infused garlic vodka. The food holds its own and will not leave you disappointed- reasonable sized & priced dishes prepared in house. I will be back!

Eaten here a couple times. Grilled cheese is a total failure, certainly not worth 8.50. Club is fair but nothing special... brisket sandwich was good. Sweet potato tots were ok, fries were not impressive. If a place is going to specialize in sandwiches they should be remarkable... and these just aren't. Won't be back.

(4)John M.
Unsuspecting place for killer smoked meats. We tried the sausage and cheese appetizer. Great. We both got smoked chicken sandwiches, the caprese and the spinach. Both great. Order a microbrew. The selection was pretty impressive. I got a summit brewing co. Saga IPA. I'd never had it before and it was no let down.

Good food and the loaded sweet potato tots on the appetizer menu are amazing!!! and a must to order!

Great service, felt at home all the way from DC. Wings are awesome , BTW when I say wings I mean WINGS! Full size wings , meant to fill you. Great selection of infused vodka's (jolly ranchers was my fav). Had the brisket sandwich and sweet potato tater tots......YUM! Awesome bartender Kody, ask him about the band he played in.:0) A+ in my book, will definitely be back and recommend to colleagues in town!

One of the few late night establishments in Wichita offering food until 9 pm on weeknights. Which is very good I might add. Friendly staff, Much better than average. A pleasant find for the area.

(2)John M.

Sweet potato tots... Enough said lol but seriously great food, great service, and a really cool atmosphere.

This is a must try for everyone in Wichita!

my favorite place in wichita right now. the food is killer. not your average boring junk. they smoke all of their own meat, and their brisket is some of the best ive ever had. try the hummus, or the loaded sweet potato tots. if you order the wings, dont schedule anything else for the rest of the day. you're gonna need a nap. so killer! if you love bourbon, hit them up on wednesday when their huge selection is only $4! they also infuse thier own vodkas, which my wife loves. all of their drinks specials are pretty reasonable. great decor. all of the art in the bar was purchased from local artists. check out wade hamptons piece by the pool table! great customer service! ive never had to wait long for drinks or food. clare and jesse are the best servers ive ever had in town. they havent been open very long, but i can only see things getting better for the monarch. you can thank them when you visit, for getting rid of those horrible neon palm trees in delano!

Mushroom caps are to die for and the chips are the best potato chips I've had anywhere, store or restaurant.

Monarch was excellent. The food was wonderful and the service was perfect. We had a veggie sandwich and the turkey with Gouda and cranberry relish-- highly recommend both! Definitely going back!

(5)Monika B.
(5)David C.

(2)Tony H.
Unfortunately I didn't get to try the food. Waitress didn't return. Two servers passed the table several times. Twenty minutes later I went to the bar to pay for my drink. There weren't even a dozen people in the restaurant, I'd hate to see how bad service is when they're busy.

Had the stuffed mushroom caps. Amazing. Brisket in a mushroom is amazing. Also had the spinach artichoke chicken sandwich. Love them both separate, so together they were awesome.

Not impressed. Food was averaged at best. Didn't get order right. BBQ was nothing to right home about.

i tried their turkey sandwich but didn't like how they cut up their meat but other than that, it tasted good. they had great beer and i LOVED the seatings outside.. it is a great place to meet up with friends and have drinks

The sweet potato tots are really good, as well as the sandwich selection. I also recently tried the chicken fingers, which had an Asian twist, so that was good. Decent selection of beers and good location in Delano. It's a nice place, but Public is still probably my favorite.

Good food and the loaded sweet potato tots on the appetizer menu are amazing!!! and a must to order!
(4)Daniel D.

Since The Monarch has opened, I have taken groups of 6-20 in there, on all days of the week, at various times. Most recently was yesterday with a group of 20, after a Kickball game, at 2:30pm. We always have excellent service. The food is always tasty! They have the best Caesar Salad (with chicken added) I've ever had. It's the homemade croutons, red peppers, and sliced chicken. My son gobbled down his Turkey & Cranberry sandwich. I've enjoyed their sweet potato tots and in-house-made tomato bisque soup (yum!). This place has the best location, in the roundabout of Delano AND near downtown. It's got a great patio with an fun, local vibe to the whole place. I also enjoyed the First Annual Food and Craft Beer fest here too!
(5)Julie S.

As I said earlier, the environment is excellent. Colliding the environment with taste bud exploding food will make your head spin. Our server Charlie was top notch. Get out of suburbia and get downtown now.

What I truly love about this place is the array of Kansas crafted beer you have to select from. To put the icing on the cake, food is fantastic and very well priced too. I have always had great customer service and yet to of disliked any sandwich offerings available. Bring some quarters, play some pool and enjoy the environment!

Pretty good ribs. I was so full I couldn't put a dent in the sweet potato tots. Slaw was okay as well. Wednesday is $4 bourbon night. Basil Hayden's, yes please. Looks like it'd be a pretty cool venue to day drink at.

The menu looks great but my sandwich was a little dry. But the place, the music is enough for me to give it another shot and try a different item. The desert and service were great though!

The Round House sandwich was wonderful. House chips are equally as good. Minus the unclean server, and cigarette whole in his shirt. Was a pleasant experience. Management was attentive and food was quick.

(4)Mary W.
Their kitchen closes at 9:45. I thought you should all know this since it says its a restaurant that's open till midnight... didn't get to try any of the food. But the staff was friendly when they told me that the kitchen was closed.
(3)Trevor H.
Not bad. Had chicken spinach sandwich, with a side of tots. Good beer selection. Good patio, good service. Nothing memorable this time. Would consider trying another menu selection next time around.

(1)Monika B.
(5)David C.

(4)Tony H.
Unfortunately I didn't get to try the food. Waitress didn't return. Two servers passed the table several times. Twenty minutes later I went to the bar to pay for my drink. There weren't even a dozen people in the restaurant, I'd hate to see how bad service is when they're busy.

BBQ was nothing to right home about.

i tried their turkey sandwich but didn't like how they cut up their meat but other than that, it tasted good. they had great beer and i LOVED the seatings outside.. it is a great place to meet up with friends and have drinks
