The restaurant is very inviting with its rich decor and strong image as you enter the building. Visiting Wichita, KS for the first time, I was certainly intrigued at the menu as well as the interior, because let's face it-- it could just be another steak house. Best. Surprise. Ever. It wasn't just another steak place, it was filled with local art and beautiful touches that would make any event beautiful I am sure. The decanters that lined the bar & entry way were absolutely beautiful and added to the ambiance of the dinning area. Entering in the building, it is deceiving to the eye. It is much bigger inside that it appears especially since they have meeting space galore AND a room for cigar smoking!!! The food was insane! It was of course inspired by the local faire with tender and flavorful meat that certainly would not disappoint any meat lover. I had the bacon wrapped medallions with a loaded potato and have dreamed of going and indulging once more. The plate was beautifully collected, but still--that wasn't the best part. Chocolate hazelnut cake; a must try. It was life changing to say the least-- rich, decadent, and was clearly made from scratch since it didn't have an oily flavor or after mark. Heavenly buy it self, or maybe I will try with just coffee. The staff was amazing. Attentive, but not intrusive and certainly know what they are doing. The managers are all incredibility nice and truly have hospitality in their bones. I will be back... with others.... but I am not sharing!

The ambiance is lovely. Jazz music is nice. We enjoyed the Caprese Salad with a lovely reduction of bslsamic. The grilled chicken salad was ok., it just needed a bit of seasoning to make it more flavorful. However, I will say they were very generous with the bacon. The Old Fashioned Root beer cocktail was interesting. Give it a try.

The Sunday brunch is great!!!! From fish, chicken, waffles, omelets, fruit, dessert, Mac and cheese, potatoes, salad, steak and much more!!! The price did go out to $18.99 without notice! Was previously $16.99

Very well preserved, old-money style steakhouse, gives the feeling you stepped back into the 1950's. A little expensive, but about what you would expect to pay at an upscale steakhouse. Good salads, I had a salad that was quite big and had the standard Wichita oily Caesar dressing, not my favorite but I liked it OK. Ribeye steak was made of very good quality meat with very good flavor - I've had better, but not much better than this. My asparagus was undercooked (in my opinion) which seems to be typical for fancy restaurants. Do people really want to crunch their vegetables? The round homemade sourdough bread loaf with soft whipped butter was absolutely excellent - I could have eaten an entire meal of this. I didn't have it but the menu highlighted the twice baked potatoes - I'll try them next time. I don't think I saw a regular baked potato on the menu - this seems a little strange to me. Probably not high on my list for repeat visits simply due to the cost being out of my normal price range - over $100 for two of us without alcohol.

I had the bone in rib eye and it was ok...it was a steak nothing more nothing less. No seasoning added, the potatoes had more seasoning then the steak. My wife had the spinach salad with hot dressing which was served cold. We both said the bread was the best part of the meal which bites considering the price tag attached to the meal. Sad might try again our waitress says the KC steak is better. She was awesome on taking care of us. Live and learn to try some where else....

The service was great but the food was very disappointing. The shrimp scampi was drowned in some type of watery oil that was supposed to the a butter lemon caper sauce. It was not a sauce. It was a broth if anything and was incredibly oily. The scampi itself came with a giant pat of butter on it as well. It wasn't seasoned. The shrimp was overdone and dry. It also wasn't seasoned. The bf got the prime rib. That was actually good but the side of mash with it was dry and flavorless. Definitely not worth the money.

Great lunch time location especially if you're entertaining customers. Chef salad was good and everyone else really enjoyed their meal. The service was decent but distant. The value was good but watch those dinner prices.....itll look a little heavy on the old expense account

I had their spinach fettuccine and an escargot for an appetizer . My husband had their prime rib. My fettuccine was good. It wasnt over seasoned, it was just the taste that I wanted...just right. The waitress was kind enough to replace my grapefruit juice after i said i didnt like it, she replaced it with a pineapple juice that worked well with my caesar salad. It was a pricey dinner, but we knew it , we were celebrating my husband's birthday. we were the last customers that they had served, and ill give them 4 stars for that. All in all, we liked the fine dining experience, the ambiance, and food. I was surprised that my husband had leftover steak, because it was really big.

We had a terrible experience at Scotch last night. The service was really bad. It took 10 minutes to be greeted followed by 20 minutes to have our drinks delivered. By the time our order arrived we were starving, but the food was equally disappointing. I had the ribeye, others at the table all had steaks. Each steak was cooked incorrectly. My medium-rare came out well done and my wife's medium-well came out medium-rare. And the meat definitely was not what you expect when it costs $40. The mashed potatoes were instant. Again, not what you expect for $40 The asparagus was a yellowish color and were under cooked. The salad was iceberg lettuce. All of the above would be fine at Texas Roadhouse etc., but I personally expect more at a place that charges the prices that we were charged at Scotch & Sirloin. Just buy your steaks at S&S meats and cook it yourself! Oh, and as a P.S. my wife has food poisoning this morning, not guaranteed it's from Scotch, but we're pretty sure it is.

Yes, as good as it gets. It's expensive, and it's always busy, but we were a party of 6 on a Tuesday at 6:30 and were sat right away. Lauren was our server, and she was very attentive but not overbearing, and charming in a genuine way. Extremely professional. Food service was a little slow, but it was a business meeting so it gave us time to talk ... business. All the food was amazing, not one complaint. The bread is fantastic, lobster strips are unique breaded lobster tail bites, caesar salads were fresh made with plenty of parmesan and the dressing was perfect, 4 of us had ribeye steak, one KC strip steak, and one sea bass, all of which were cooked perfectly. Bathrooms were clean, and the place was reasonably quiet considering the size of the crowd. Not the kind of place you're going to eat at every night, but great for a special date night or business get together like ours.

The glory days are over. Food was unacceptable. Escargot appetizer was poorly prepared lacking wine, garlic, and parsley. It was just butter broiled snails with 2 toast points with the painted on kind of flavoring you get with grocery store prepared garlic bread. The dish totally lacked finesse and elegance. The onion ring appetizer was a mound of giant sliced onion rings-maybe a dozen, but heavy, very heavy. The would have sufficed at a diner but again they lacked finesse and elegance. Salads were ok with an abundance of bleu cheese. Steak tournedos in pepper sauce were ok but the sauce was not freshly prepared and tasted like a steam table sauce prepared the day before. My son's prime rib was adequate but nothing more. The twice baked potatoes were very heavy with clunky yellow cheese on top. At $6.50 I expected more. This side can really shine in the right hands but there was nothing good to write about it. Service was adequate. The bill was about $90 and I will not go back and I will not recommend it to others.

We went for valentines dinner. The service was pretty good and the atmosphere was good. I ordered the prime rib and it was awesome and my husband had the bone in ribeye, which was ok. The terrible thing was the amount you pay and the terrible sides...they're awful and generic and taste like they came from a box. For 95.00 I would expect something a little better then boxed rice a roni and instant potatoes.

My brother travels the country and often joins his customers in fine restaurants. When I joined him and his family for his birthday he told me that they have the best Prime Rib he has ever enjoyed...in all of his travels. I agree. It was cooked to perfection. Our party of 6 was served quite efficiently by an extremely competent waitress. She didn't hover, but was there often enough to see if we needed anything. This isn't a 5-star restaurant in the truest sense, but the fine evening we had with exceptional Prime Rib and service makes it the best steakhouse I'm aware of in Wichita...hence the 5 stars.

Was pretty skeptical in the beginning of this fancy place since our table was left alone for almost 15 mins w/o even anybody came by to take our drinks order. However, the waitresses came and apologized, and thing started to pick up our mood. Ordered the Kansas City cut with salad and creamed spinach - everything's good, especially the creamed spinach. It's so creamy with artichoke bits. Pricey, but the portion isn't small either. Even the smallest portion of the prime rib is big for me.

*** Yelp does not condone drunk driving, even time machines. *** This place is like drunk-driving a time machine. A visit to this dark den of meat and booze harkens back to an older time, but I can't put my finger on when that "older time" might be. Maybe the 50s? Maybe the 80s? It really depends on what your eyes have set their gaze upon. The circular booths in the dining room are pure Rat Pack, but those color-changing glass dividers are straight out of Miami Vice. The nudie-lady art in the men's room? That, however... is simply timeless. So, let's talk about the brunch buffet. While I've been to bigger and fancier, S&S throws down some pretty legit brunch. They have a meat carving station, with not just the traditional prime rib (or maybe just roast beef) but also turkey and ham. I stuck with the beef, as I do, and it was perfectly medium rare and tender. I was a happy guy. The biscuits and gravy are legit, and their macaroni and cheese was my personal Christmas miracle. I ate like three portions, because I am disgusting. How disgusting? I then went and got pie. That's right, they have a hefty dessert table, and I needed their chocolate cream pie inside me. I can't say that it was the best pie ever, but even bad pie is still pie, and this definitely wasn't bad pie. I really liked our server, who was friendly and damn good at her job, all while dressed like a waitress in a 1970s motel lounge. Seriously Mr Restaurant Owner, their skirts don't need to be THAT short. She offered us up the drink menu, to which I passed because 1) it was like 10:30 AM and 2) that drink list was definitely stolen from a 1960s tiki lounge. Blue Curacao before noon is NEVER a good idea. Instead I got coffee, which was just ok but it was hot and my cup was never empty. All in all, I really enjoyed my trip to Scotch and Sirloin. I'd love to go back sometime for dinner, and maybe a tropical drink.

If they actually knew how to cook a steak then maybe it would be better. First of all there isn't even anything special about their "Sterling Silver meats" that come from Cargill (i.e. massive slaughterhouse), where instead I would expect a high quality restaurant to locally source their meat from a good farm. I ordered a 6oz petite medium, that is pretty standard. First time, it comes out well done and crispy 1 HOUR after I order and I have to send it back because its completely dry. Then 30 minutes later they bring out my new steak, that is barely cooked and RAW. Obviously they must have never heard of medium. Why even ask me if they don't want to make it properly. The manager was not very helpful at all, he told me he would comp the filet because of all the trouble, but when the bill came, guess what, the steak was still on the bill. This could be because he was too busy chatting around with some party in another room than doing his job and clearly communicating with the waitress. The best part is that the new owner came up to our table before our meal, talking up how great his new ownership is and how he is raising the standard. Well by buying your meat from Cargill, instead of a local butcher - bad move, Hiring chefs at the "best steakhouse" who don't know how to cook a steak - bad move Having a manager who is too busy partying instead of taking care of his customers - bad move. If they didn't try to tell me they are the best steakhouse in town, then maybe I would feel differently. But if you want to be the best, then you have to do it right, not like this.

It is with great disappointment that I report to you on the new menu. I have been a loyal customer of Scotch and Sirloin through the years. The ghost of the legacy menu is still posted on the website, but if you step inside the restaurant you will see that it has has been replaced, by the new owners, with an abbreviated and unremarkable steakhouse menu that is not characteristic of the original Scotch and Sirloin. The once 7-page S&S leather bound menu has been replaced by a single black and white page of card stock. The Beef and Chicken Kabobs are gone, along with The Western, the Scotch Burger, and even the title track, The Scotch Sirloin. Let me repeat. You can no longer order a Sirloin at Scotch and Sirloin. There is an extensive wine list and new glassware, if that is your thing. I am not a restaurateur, so I will not speculate on why these changes were made. I do know they can be undone. The simplification of the menu has hurt the authenticity of this place that kept me craving my next visit. In visits past, dinner could be as reasonable or as extravagant as once chose. Sit in the Lounge and share a combination plate of hot cheese sticks with fried fresh mushrooms, cauliflower, and broccoli ($7.95) and a boiling hot bowl of french onion soup with bubbling cheese on top ($3.25); for a complete dinner enjoy an expansive menu in the Dining Room. In conclusion, the new leadership has eliminated many of the signature menu items that I enjoyed the most. This resulted in a subtle shift from original to ordinary, which is reflected by the elimination of classic menu item, The Scotch Sirloin, from The Scotch and Sirloin. I hope these changes are impermanent and I have faith that Mr. Issa will recognize what made S&S an outstanding one-of-a-kind restaurant.

Went for a lunch date with my boyfriend. The host staff barely batted an eye when we arrived and when we were leaving, they just chatted amongst themselves like we didn't exist. On the otherhand our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The lemonades were wonderful, not too sweet with the right amount of tang. We got a calamari appetizer accompanied wirh sweet peppers. It was good but was hardly worth the price, considering the portion. I ordered the Steak & Sirloin Burger with a side of potato salad. My boyfriend's mashed potatoes were delicious and the gravy was heavenly. The burger was mediocre at best as well as the potatoes. The portion size was appropriate. The lunch menu lacked the diversity of the dinner menu online, so we will definitely return for dinner sometime. As of now, this place is a 3.5 but that's not an option on here.

We were passing through Wichita and stopped to spend the night. We chose to eat at Scotch & Sirloin because of the recommendation on Yelp. Steaks were tender and properly done. The baked potato was delicious and the toppings came on the side as ordered. Try the carrot cake. We did. Yumm!! Kudos to our waitress Kimberly. Very professional.

I'm in town for work, and this place was highly recommended by coworkers. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the inside has a cozy/romantic ambiance. Beware though, it's so dark I could barely see where I was walking as it took my pupils 10 min to adjust accordingly. I ordered the prime rib sandwich (see store photos), which was super fatty, but super duper delicious. It is probably the best prime rib slab I've ever had. The only bad thing I can say about this place is our waitress never smiled at us. It seemed like we had offended her family name or something. She was very short with us, and didn't offer any addons (like lemon for my tea, or if we were satisfied with our food, etc). She also nearly knocked me out with the pitcher of tea since I was eating and the glass was on the other side of me. Yikes! I'd come back though. :) I'll try to stay away from fast food joints as much as I can.

Very disappointed in the new menu, very disappointed in the price point. Food is still ok with new owners, but the service is lacking and hard to believe you can't even order a sirloin at the "scotch and sirloin" Do they even have scotch?

Came here for Easter brunch with my family. The food was not what I expected. Desserts was even worse than Golden Corral. The only entrée that was good was the prime rib. First and last time.

Well, as tears stream down my cheeks.....The Scotch is no more. Save yourself the heartbreak. As with all things good, they come to pass. I sometimes wonder when an iconic establishment changes hands if the new proprietor has some disdain for the old regime. Gone, sadly gone. I cannot muster the words to defame a place I truly enjoyed. Other than to say, what a crying shame. A travesty of sorts. Sniff...

Nice joint, came late with my wife and we shared a prime rib which was amazing and some other foods. The server was excellent, and the manager even came by and checked on us. We asked to pack up our teeny bit of leftovers just before closing and they threw some extras in there! Wonderful experience!

Have been going there for 30+ years and always loved the food and service. Tonight was BAD. Three people and three wrong drinks served. And then, medium prime was well done and we had to beg for horseradish and our wine, that was supposed to be with dinner, that also came late.. Having reservations for what we hoped to be a nice dinner we were put in an extremely casual bar area with poor service and very marginal food? We won't be going back as it seems the new owners are clueless and the fellow that was at the door has no personality and was actually rather rude. So, spend your time and money elsewhere and dress up for a real change of pace. And by the way, the prices have gotten really ridiculous for the lack of palatable food and poor servce. Very disgruntled past frequent diners. Visiting from Hawaii for the last time to this establishment which we've been to a few times every year since 1980 and often before we moved. D & B & P

In the two years I've lived in Wichita, it's become clear to me that the Scotch & Sirloin is probably the closest thing Wichita has to a steakhouse institution. What other restaurant is granted the honor of having a diorama in the airport? I lived in New York City for many years and one of my favorite parts of visiting steakhouse "institutions" was hearing the story of all the things that happened there. The 21 Club has a hidden room behind a thick door in the kitchen where the cognoscenti would gather to drink during Prohibition (if you ever have the opportunity, check this out...it is amazing!) Sparks was the scene of a grisly mafia murder ordered by John Gotti (allegedly). Delmonico's invented an eponymous cut that still exists and was arguably the first fine dining restaurant in America. What's great about the history of these restaurants is that it helps modern diners justify paying a price that doesn't meet the quality of the food. With this in mind, the Scotch & Sirloin needs a good story. Maybe Clyde Cessna and William Powell Lear threw paper airplanes at each other across the dining room before they each had epiphanies that would change the world of aviation. Perhaps Kirstie Alley studied the bar from a corner booth, taking notes that would inform her role in Cheers. Maybe the great Barry Sanders had his first job carrying trays through the dining room, and dodging aloof customers helped him develop his signature running style. The Scotch needs something, anything, to distract from it's lackluster food. I recently had a rib eye which was sufficiently rare, per my order, but the quality of beef was nothing special (which should be a travesty for any local steakhouse, given that some of the best beef in the world is walking around chewing grass mere miles from here). My twice-baked potato wasn't exactly what I expected (apparently, "twice baked" = "blanketed in cheddar"). A side salad was run-of-the-mill, with a bottled dressing. Nothing was terrible or inedible, but it wasn't compelling either and certainly not worth the price. To their credit, I've always found the service to be competent and polite without being overbearing. It is very dark inside, but I like my steakhouses dark. It makes whispering lurid stories about the history of the place much more fun.

First of all, my complaint is not about food; we were 6 people in the party and we all had a great meal. The complaint is about service. On 11/19/2014; 6 of us came in for dinner. The waitress introduced us to another person as somebody who will be working with her to serve us. That person never showed up after introduction. We got there at 6pm and were seated in rook across from reception. It was taking the waitress almost 20 minutes between drinks to even show up. When I asked why drinks were taking so long, rather than being apologetic, her response was "it is not my fault, bar is very busy". And the bar did not look that busy. One of our party member was offered a taste of beer; she came back 20 minutes later with everybody's drinks minus the beer taste. She was reminded and she said she was sorry. All of us ordered steaks and we ordered salad. She brought in 5 salads and left without serving the sixth person. We had to call the front reception person to ask for another set of salads. When she brought the salad; she had no apologies. When we left and left her with a very decent tip (everybody has a bad day); she could have said "sorry, please come again" but no such courtesy. I come to Wichita 4 to 6 times a year and always visit Scotch and Sirloin but I am not sure I will do so again. The manager knew what was going on but did not come and try to make mends. Good food along is not enough; service is why we go to a place repeatedly.

Not what it used to be, Don't offer house sirloin anymore, the manager told me they had too many complaints so they dropped it?? Why don't you figure out how to cook a sirloin? They don't off the T-Bone anymore either. My girl got the Chicken Caesar salad, it wasn't any bigger than my dinner salad. Not good

I see ads for this place in the airport and can't believe this is supposed to the best steakhouse in Wichita. Trust me, its not. They are a reservations kind of place, but I would expect to see Ron Burgundy here. Its horribly outdated with its corny decor and nasty carpet. The food is ridiculously over-priced for their Iceberg Lettuce salad, untrimmed fat steak, and dank-smelling fried potatoes. So expensive...I just can't believe we paid for that. Go to Chester's Chophouse or Granite City Brewery for a formal design, and food/service/atmosphere that is worth the price.

I have to admit - I was ready to rail on Scotch and Sirloin. I don't generally like steakhouses, as the markup tends to be more for the ambiance than the steak. I was especially weary because of the "Sterling Silver" brand of steaks that S&S's website proudly touts - nevermind that the standards for these and other brands of meat like "Angus" are completely made up. To qualify as a Sterling Silver steak, the meat doesn't even have to be graded prime.* Only 3% of steaks qualify as prime, which - to me - justifies paying more, but why pay for a choice steak when I can get the same quality in the supermarket? *According to the USDA, meat for human consumption is divided into three grades, depending on the fat distribution or "marbling" of the meat: select, choice, prime (in ascending quality). Choice steaks account for 54% of all beef, according to Wikipedia. So imagine my surprise when I thought the the steak pepper pot soup that came with my meal was pretty good, with big chunks of steak and potatoes in a base that had a nice gelatinous mouthfeel from the collagen of the slowly simmering beef. Furthermore, the Laurie cut to the prime rib - a $30 cut - was easily over a pound of meat, and though it was clearly identified as being a "choice" cut, I actually think a choice cut is more beefy than the super-marbled cuts (as long as there's enough fat to keep the meat sufficiently juicy). Given the size of the portion I don't think the price was as extravagant as I was expecting (disclosure: I didn't pay for the meal, but I try to not let that factor into my analysis of the price point) What really made me a fan of Scotch and Sirloin was the treatment of the vegetables. Steakhouse or not, too often asparagus and potatoes don't receive the treatment they deserve. The cottage fries - crispy pan-fried potatoes - were fresh and had a great crust, and the asparagus was cooked to proper doneness, with the only complaint being a woody stem every once in a while.I was happy to find that the $7 for the asparagus was actually for a family-sized portion, making it much more reasonable. In the end, I've been to plenty of restaurants that give you less for the price you pay, and with less cooking prowess. We visited on a Saturday night, and the place was packed with everyone from families to dates, willing to splurge every once in a while for a nice steak.

Come here quite often for lunch with co-workers. Love their lunch menu - high calorie though. Dinner is great - prime rib awesome! The only complaint I would say is - it's very dark and I don't like to eat my food without looking at it in full light. The waitresses are always in low cut showing cleavage shirts..Obviously from a man's view - they love it. It doesn't bother me....

HORRIBLE customer service experience, AWESOME food!!!!! We sat at the bar. Our bartender was rude, obnoxious, sacrastic, high strung & I honestly don't know how she is even employed here. Asking her a question from the menu was suddenly the end of the world and she made that quite obvious; they were NOT busy at the time, so that's no excuse! After she finally comprehended the question I was asking, she was quite rude for the remainder of the evening. Lynn, you are not professional AT ALL. Yes, I made it a point to remember your name so I could write this review. My husbands filet was the best he'd ever had. Being from TX and eating at Steak places almost every weekend, I found the prices at the Scotch to be very reasonable for what you're getting. Drink prices were amazing, not over priced whatsoever. Will I be back? Yes, but I will make it a point to sit in the dining area next time. I'd like to say that every other bartendeder working that night was beyond great. I unfortunatley received the bad apple of the bunch.

I have eaten here many times and it is better than ever! Steaks are great and many other fantastic choices. I had the lobster Mac n cheese and black and blue KC strip which was cooked perfectly medium rare. Wine list is extensive and well done. Also wine is stored in a beautiful wine cave just beyond the front doors. Great service and food!

Overpriced for poor quality food! Easter Sunday brunch was a total waste of money. Only thing worth eating is the prime rib. Everything else especially the dessert was something I could have made better out of a box. Save your money and go to Golden Corral or a Chinese buffet. Buffet line was chaotic and disorganized. Had to wait for plates and food to come out. First and last time here.

Best prime rib!! Will definitely stand up against high scale restaurants in bigger cities. I usually come here when treating myself to a special night out of town and I have yet to be disappointed. The shrimp cocktail has probably the biggest shrimp I have seen. The steaks are always cooked to my specifications, considering I am extremely picky when it comes to my steak. The last time I had dinner here they ran out of Prime Rib (major disappointment!) I instead ordered the ribeye which was just as juicy and tender as the prime rib I had here in the past. The Maitre-d was extremely polite and accommodating when I needed to change reservation time. The waitresses are friendly, attentive, and very cute :-) Scotch and Sirloin is always at the top in my book of favorite steakhouses!

We've gone to S&S for our Christmas Eve dinner for many years now. I usually have the same thing...petite prime rib. Although it wasn't especially crowded, this year it seems to take longer than usual to receive our meals. You can imagine how surprised I was when I received my meal, it was COLD! Prime rib and the potatoes. I hailed down the waitress and said the meal was cold. Imagine my surprise when she put her finger on the prime. Not to worry I said to myself. She's just going to bring me a new HOT meal. I few minutes later, she returned with my very warm, very obviously microwaved meal. Gray meat, just what everyone likes. It probably still had her finger print on it. Never again!

I've been a Wichita resident most of my life and the Scotch & Sirloin has been around as long as I can remember. My wife and I went there for the first time on a Saturday night, mostly because there was an hour long wait at our first and second steakhouse choices. There was no wait to be seated, but that's about the best thing I can say about this establishment. I suppose I can appreciate the restaurant's effort to fill the "fine dining" niche in Wichita, but those efforts are falling short. Here is why: Menu: Very decent selection, but very overpriced. Food: Outdated. Mediocre to average at best. (Ordered a filet mignon, medium. Came to me cooked medium-well, with little seasoning. My wife ordered Mahi Mahi which was obviously frozen and very bland.) Service: A little slow. (Ordered a beer and waited 10- 15 min. before I had to remind the waitress that I ordered it. It finally arrived with no apology or compensation.) Decor: Outdated, dark and a little dingy. (They keep it very dark in the restaurant, but it's not hard to see that the place has not been updated in ages.) I think this restaurant survives because some people see the dim lights and high prices and believe they are getting a "fine dining" experience. They are wrong. It's actually a little difficult to find true "fine dining" in Wichita. However, if you're just looking for a great steak, one of the bigger commercial chains would be a better choice.

Scotch & Sirlion might be good by Wichita standards but compared to a big city steakhouse, this place doesn't cut it. I had the rib-eye steak, which lacked seasoning and was tough. The sides weren't much better. They sucked. A wine list with no vintages listed?? Amateur hour for a steakhouse. The only thing right here is the attractive waitresses.

The best prime rib in town. The service is excellent and they never left me wanting for anything. The inside is dimly lit and it has kind of an old man's club feel to it, but I like it and will return time and again.

I have always heard so many things about this place, but never given it a try! I came here for a work Christmas party. The atmosphere is okay. I enjoy places with dim lighting, but this place is just way too dark. I actually like to see what I am eating. The service was good, but the food is just okay. The steak I ordered had some kind of sauce on it that tasted soapy/flowery. It was awful. I had one of my coworkers have a bite of my steak and she had said it tasted flowery without me even mentioning it to her first. The only thing I really enjoyed was the wine. I will not return here again I can get better steak from Texas Road house.

Ok let me start off by saying that they have been in business for well over 30+ years. I've been a HUGE FAN since I was a wee one. I've spent many birthdays, a marraige proposal and many other memorable moments here. We've alwaysarrived & sat at the bar for at least 30 minutes before our reservation time to have a few drinks (OUR choice) then was seated at our table This last few years have gone way down hill. I can't say whether or not it's because Sonny isn't there as much or what but... With that being said, I've never had an issue or had to return food until then (last few years). I can say this year, actually next month, we WONT be spending my birthday there. Yes my disappointed & broken hearted that one of our favorite family tradition is not going to be happening for us.

When I go to a steakhouse, especially one where the prices are over $35 per plate, I expect a decent cut of meat, but I felt very underwhelmed with my dining experience at Scotch and Sirloin. I ordered the starter salad (came with the meal) twice baked potato, crab topped filet (medium) and a glass of wine. The wine was the best part of the meal. The twice baked potato was actually a close second, very tasty, with a good helping of cheese mixed in. The salad was over dressed iceberg lettuce so basically crunchy water with an actually very good bleu cheese dressing. I would also envision a livelier salad at a steak house. The steak though, was lackluster. I ordered it medium, which I always do with a filet, and it came out closer to well done and was so dry. I have never had to work so hard to cut a filet. The crab on top was fairly flavorless, and the whole entrée was a little cold. Again, I am rating my experience on the price point and the fact that they are a steakhouse - supposedly specializing in this market of food. The server was very nice, however she rang up our order incorrectly, when both my dining buddy and I asked about the crabbed topped filet being the larger cut or a petite cut, trying to make sure we ordered the smaller cut of steak. She rang it up as the larger and we actually had to talk to the manager before being able to get the issue resolved, which is was with minor difficulty. I would be up for giving this place another try, but to be honest I feel like there are a lot of steak options in Wichita so not totally sure I would want to risk wasting my time or money here again.

I had said that before I left Wichita this was one place I definitely wanted to dine at. I didn't think it was going to happen as my days grew few. Low & behold the person I never thought would ever take me here said he would! That would be my basically X husband. Pennies squeal when they see him coming! He said he'd take me to dinner before I left (we're friendly) and I told him my desire to go to S&S before I left. He said Scotch it was! Can you say shocked? Anyway, while there I had the French Onion Soup that I had heard from a couple of people was the best they ever had. I agree.. it was the best French Onion Soup I have ever had! I had a house salad which was fresh & tasty, a loaded baked potato & Prime Rib for my entree. It was all very good! I don;t usually order prime rib but I had heard theirs was very very good so I thought I'd try it for a change. It was quite good but afterward I wished I had ordered my usual Ribeye! Just because that is my favorite cut. The drinks were plenty strong and the service very attentive. I'm glad I got to try it.. yay!

Well, this place is not really worth the money. They have prices similar to Ruth Chris's, but not the same quality. For example, they do not have servers who ground pepper for you, just a pepper shaker on the table. (not that I really need it, but when you charge premium prices, its expected to have premium service) I ordered a Filet Mignon, medium+. It came well done. Not a problem for me, as I like well cooked meat. My friend also ordered medium+, and it came well done. She did not like it..... Here is what upset me a bit. Our server (Jannelle) took the order. On the menu the entries came with various types of potato. (fried, baked, sweet, etc). The vegetables were a-la-cart with price tag of about $8 per vegetable. I asked to substitute my potatoes for asparagus. My friend asked to substitute his salad for asparagus as well. He was told that they could not substitute the salad for asparagus as it was not a side. When the bill came, I was charged $8 for the asparagus. (my plate did not come with potatoes). I questioned the waitress, and was told that all vegetables are a-la-cart. I reminded her that I substituted. She said that it could not be done. I asked her, how come then I did not get my other side (potato). She said, that she thought that I did not want it. In either case, if you go here and want to substitute, be VERY clear.

Old school. Don't go for the atmosphere if you are looking for new or modern anything. Steak. Prime Rib. Burgers. Those are the ticket. Green beans were good... had some onion to spice them up a little. Cottage fries were sinful... prepare to work them off. Chicken Fried steak and burgers at lunch are recommended. Prime is the dinner item of choice. If you don't care for friendly waitresses, get take out. Your wife may not like them too much, so keep that in mind!

Usually good. For a place that has good steaks they tend to overcook them based on how you order (going off about 10 times of being here). So don't do medium rare, do rare. Sides are great, but only if loaded with sour cream or butter, otherwise bland. Still has good a steak as you can get at a restaurant (you can easily make better on your own grill).

Great drinks nice atmosphere and above all good quality for the price. It is part of Wichita's history. Scotch has been serving both local and traveling business men for decades. I love the place.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a coworker who comes to Wichita frequently for business. Since I made my own trip out on business, I had to try it! The hospitality staff at the front were very friendly and I was seated immediately at a booth. I ordered a glass of Shiraz and the filet with mashed potatoes. The food was delicious, the filet was perfectly cooked on the inside (I ordered medium but then wished I'd ordered medium rare) but a bit charred on the outside. The atmosphere was definitely dominated by business meeting discussions, but there were a few couples in attendance. This place is pricey compared to the rest of Wichita but definitely worth a try if you like a delicious steak and wonderful service!

I've heard from locals and out of towners touting this place as a must go. On a good note: the steak was good. The rest? Other restaurants I've seen with this sort of decor and "attire" for waitstaff went belly up a long time ago. As others have said, menu is unimaginative at best. I found it hysterical though that they have the maitre'd with his "podium" in the front lobby... and people strolling in and out in tattered sweatpants (customers)...others in furs and dress attire. There was a wait for tables, why... I'm not sure. There were open tables when we came in, yet there was a "45 min wait". Rather than wait it out, we opted to sit in the bar area, less wait...good. The overwhelming "dining entertainment"... bad. Nothing like having to scream out a conversation with your friends due to the overly loud, dated "oldies". I won't be back.

After a brutal week of being stuck in a trade show booth at an aerospace convention, a cold Disarano on the rocks was very much welcomed. Accompanying my beverage was a juicy 14oz ribeye steak cooked medium and a side of creamed spinach. The steak was tender and perfectly prepared with a warm red center. It tasted like it was pan fried with a dry black pepper rub. The creamed spinach was very rich which only allowed me to take a couple bites. I was not able to finish the whole meal. Perhaps it was the several glasses of Disarano... Overall, the restaurant was a bit over priced, but had a good menu selection. The ambiance was not all that great. In fact, I thought it was extremely dim inside. Lastly, the service was adequate, but nothing special.

Wow an institution is right! It was like eating in a cafeteria, they even use the same plastic dishes that you find sides served in at an all you can eat buffet. Sides looked like they came out of can, steaks medicore and a baked potato that could have been used as a hockey puck. And don't get me started on all the fried appetizers. Everything tasted the same and bland! We were a large group and I have never seen so many plates that looked like they should have not even left the kitchen. If it is clear to Wichitians that this is the place, it is clear to me they have no taste! Save your money and head over to Outback.

Who would have ever thought giant, fresh shrimp could be have right smack in the middle of the U.S.? I didn't, but I'm glad I had it! I love the darkness of the place. Low lighting makes EVERYONE look better whether they want to admit it or not. Love the hot waitresses. It's kind of like Hooters, but classier. They get hired to be hot, not skanky. Ask for Christine!

I pretty much agree with Chrissy. This place is very dark and the Good Fellas comment is pretty appropriate. But this place is known for two things....the waitresses and the beef. The waitresses are good looking and wear tight outfits, as if I have to explain this to you. (Never take food advice from a cab driver!) However, it is a place to get really good beef, prime rib, rib eyes, filet mignon. The beef is good and they usually hit their temperatures. The sides are meh. Oh, and I used to always order the shrimp cocktail. They had ginormous shrimp sitting in the glass. That and a couple of glasses of single malt keep me happy.

From all the reviews and hype I thought that I was going to be wowed by awesome food and gorgeous ladies. I have been spoiled by other steak houses across the country and this place unfortunately sits at the bottom of my list. We went there for a New Year's Eve dinner and the place was packed. First and foremost, I expect not to see people in sweatshirts and sneakers. :) It's a holiday people, come on! We were seated at a nice booth as requested, coats were checked and the waitress was very attentive and prompt. Sexy and scantly dressed??? The ladies were all dressed in black and not too revealing or overly sexified. The patrons were of an older make but it was a festive atmosphere being New Year's and all. Everyone was polite and attentive, food was prompt and hot. As far as taste and presentation....well....this is where my mood changes. Mind you I didn't order steak, I left that to the gentlemen in my company. We started with shrimp cocktail (yummy) and cheese sticks(yummy) for the young lad. I ordered chicken scallopini (bland and elastic) on a bed of angel hair pasta (nuked) with some steamed squash (weathered and wrinkled). My man had the T-bone (big and yummy) with some bland mashed taters. The young chap had a Kansas strip and tore it up from the floor up! I've never seen someone so focused on cutting! He had taters as well but since there was so much steak he left the potatoes alone. When I have to dip my chicken in ranch dressing, you know there is a problem and I don't normally do ranch. :) Presentation was lacking, the dishes were like something you'd find at Denny's. Dessert was good, you can't really mess that up. Had a triple chocolate and candy bar cake. Washed everything down with coffee. When it was time to depart, we retrieved our coats and walked into a full waiting area. All in all, if you want a decent steak and prompt service go for it. It's no Morton's but I guess it's good for Wichita. Kinda went there for nostalgia purposes....for the ambiance etc...so-so experience. Next time we are hitting up Chester's Chophouse.

I love the prime rib here, so moist and cuts like butter. The sirloin isn't too bad and very reasonably priced. The cuts of beef are huge, so if there is a small option, I would go with that one.. unless you're very very hungry. I've heard that they have a 15.95 prime rib special on Sunday nights, so I'll definitely check it out. They recently had a special to celebrate their 40th birthday. 40% off on sirloin meals. A group of us got together and it was great. The only problem I have with this place is the atmosphere. The average age of the patrons is about 70-ish and the lighting is quite dark. It takes a while for my eyes to adjust if I walk in and it's light out. Warning, not a place for kids and immature husbands - a few of the waitresses dress quite scandalously.

Mmm...red meat! In town for business so decided to meat the girls for dinner. This place has a strange dark atmosphere, service that is so/so, and they ran out of creamed spinach! (it was only 6:30). That said I did enjoy the steak WAY too much - felt like a cow myself after dinner. Although I will not be traveling back to this restaurant it was a decent way to have some grass-fed Kansas beef!

Though I've known about this place for years and years, I ate there for the first time a couple of weeks ago, as a treat for my steak-loving father. It's a classic blast from the past - few concessions to the modern era; it's basically steaks, prime rib, a few non-beef dishes in case you bring any non-beef-eating pinkos along to dinner. The appetizers are good; the salads are nondescript; and the steaks are really quite good. A couple of odd things about this place. Since it has "Scotch" in the name I thought it might have an extensive selection of single malt Scotches, but when I asked for the Scotch menu at the bar I got a list of the same 10 or 12 whiskeys that one sees everywhere else (Macallan, Glenlivet, Talisker, etc.) Nothing you can't find in a liquor store anywhere in America. Also, it seems to have a local reputation for "hot" waitresses in short skirts. I do recall we had good service, but I don't recall being scandalized by the apparel of our waitresses.

This is what a steakhouse should be: dark paneled, leather booths, professional, attentive, and knowledgeable wait staff, cozy and quiet, and most importantly, knowledge of how to cook steak. My prime rib was cooked and seasoned to succulent perfection. The Scotch & Sirloin is the real deal. I cannot wait to return!

I grew up in Wichita and used to pass this place all the time. Never ate there until I went back for a wedding. First of all, the atmosphere is OK but they could probably use a lighting professional to come in there and light the place in such a way that you don't have to grope around in the dark like a blind man trying to find the men's room. As for the food, it is a bit overpriced but well worth eating. Mine and hers were prepared perfectly and I was quite happy with the food. The waitresses look good but since it is so dark, you don't get to eye feast on them without really stretching your neck and risking getting the hell slapped out of you by "her across the table". The service was very fast and friendly.

For this price, the steaks should melt in your mouth . . . They don't. Wedge salad was excellent.

I was here for a well grilled juicy chunk of meat and that's what I got, so I thought they are pretty good. I got Special Filet, topped with crab meat with a side of mashed potatoes. The filet was definitely worth it, by far the best steak in Wichita. Cibola is over-rated, Chesters is pretty average. It surely is pretty dark and the waitresses did look good. I'd come back...

This was recommended to us by the airport driver of our fellow travelers. I should have known better by looking at the gigantic gaudy neon sign on the side of the rode. (similar to that of Hilltop Steakhouse for us Bostonians) The restaurant was dark and had a mish mash of different decorative styles. It really looked like a scene out of Good fellas. Our waitress was interesting to say the least. She screamed everything! I think she thought we were deaf. We ordered 2 bottles of wine, which were both very nice. French onion soup and steak poppers to start. The soup was terrible. It was watery cheese with onions floating in it. The poppers were good. They were basically little balls of chicken fried steak with a bowl of cream gravy in the middle for dipping. My starter salad was disgusting. I got the white part of the ice berg lettuce with a cucumber thrown on top for good measure. Everyone else got a really yummy looking green spinach salad with cucumbers, carrots, radish... I was jealous. And finally we got the entrees. (all steak of course) I ordered the rib eye which I must say was awesome. Very tender and flavorful. Melt in your mouth goodness. My friend tried the fillet which was also delicious. My twice baked potato, however, not so delicious. Boring and hard. For 5 of us it cost $250. Not bad I suppose when you factor in all the steak and wine. But take my advice, stick to the steak. You can eat sides when you get home.

The steak was good. It was a little over done for an ordered medium rare but it was not bad. I was disappointed with the server who when asked if I could substitute the potato item that comes with the meal for the veggies so that I could eat a little healthier. Janell, the waitress said yes and all seemed great. I got my steak, vegetables, and salad, and no potato item as requested. At the end of the meal I got the bill and it had an extra charge for the vegetables. I was with a group from work and another person with us had the same issue. When asked, Janell said that the potato item came with the meal and that there were no substitutions, only add ons. However, this was not what she said when asked at the beginning when ordering. I paid my bill and went on my way. However, it would have been nice to have Janell fully disclose up front that the vegetables would be an additional charge vs. a substitution as I had asked. Probably wont return to this place. Yes, I was at dinner with Max.

Ate here for a lunch. It seems like a nice place for a dinner, but lunch was underwheming. My hunch is the main lunch draw is for the waitresses rather than the food.

I visited here during a business trip. Sat at the bar. Wait staff were friendly and prompt. Salad was very heavy with dressing so you might want that on the side. Steak was awesome. Cooked just right and no addtional seasoning was needed. Had the twice baked potato. Actually took food home. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • Alison R.

This is really an over-rated steak house with little more to offer than floosy looking waitresses and over priced bland food. A piece of cake was $9 for Pete's sake. Unimaginative cuisine in a tired and smokey atmosphere. I went for lunch and it was $30 for a grilled salmon salad, a coke, and a piece of cake. The salmon was dry, the lettuce was mostly iceberg and wilting romaine. Luckily I asked for the dressing on the side because my co-workers could hardly find their greens beneath the bucket of dressing laddled onto their salads. I had heard so much about this place from other people and was really looking forward to it as our company Christmas party luncheon. I was highly disappointed. I won't be going back.
