Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Wichita is not lacking for fantastic Mexican restaurants, and if it was just a matter of the al pastor, carnitas, and barbacoa meeting snuff, I could leave my five stars, finish this sentence, and move on to the next review. But there's a little more to Pollo Express. Aside the standard taco fillings I've already listed, they offer a "transmission" taco, a discada-like filling of chorizo, peppers, and onions that gets its name from it being just a little bit greasy. It's a little messy and a lot of indulgence, but I liked being able to try something different. The menu claims fame for the tortas, and while the crispy pork tenderloin in the hefty torta de lomo is indeed pleasurable, the notoriety of Pollo Express is found in their eponymous chicken. Rotisserie chicken is common among street vendors in Mexico, but it's not often seen in the Mexican restaurants around here. The bird is slathered in a paste of guajillo chiles and left to rotate on a spit until ready for consumption; all you need to complement the vibrant earthiness of the chiles on this tender and juicy bird is some tortillas and some salsa. At first I was a little disappointed that the rotisserie chicken wasn't incorporated into more of the menu - I would have loved to see it as an option for a taco or torta. I eventually came around to the idea of it being its own little corner of the large menu - something that is easy to overlook, but rewarding for those who are paying attention.

The best Mexican breakfast I have had in Wichita. Got some burritos and nachos that were really good. The decor is nothing to rave about but who cares when the food is delish.

I stopped in for lunch after checking Yelp for nearby places. It's a small restaurant that quickly began filling up with dine in and take out orders a few minutes after I arrived. The staff were extremely friendly and quick to accommodate you. I had my meal in less than five minutes after I ordered it. Great staff, food and prices. I'll be back soon!

This is authentic. I love the Chihuahua style red chili. The lunch special from the hot table is one of the best lunch deals around, 3 items for $5.50 and the horchata is legit, made in house daily. Chips and salsa are tasty, but ask for hot salsa. The four stars are in context to similar places, not comparing across genres and price points, but good solid food for lunch.

Never again I paid 16 dollars for a 3 dollar meal the enchilada and taco combination plates where literally fun size.

Absolutely delicious! Trip Advisor shows that this restaurant is closed. NOT SO! Thankfully, we trusted the Yelp reviews and checked it out! The curb appeal is zero...but don't let that fool you! The interior is dated, but very clean. Seats perhaps two dozen and it was full while we were there. The service was great...super friendly and efficient even while very busy! We were offered an endless basket of warm chips and three different salsas..mild, hot & verde. All fresh & scrumptious! The Super Nachos were...SUPER! Completely loaded including fresh homemade guacamole (TDF) & tons of fresh cilantro!!! If you enjoy nachos...these are a must! The carne asada taco dinner was the hit! Three of our five ordered #9! The cheese enchiladas were delicious and the fried tacos were also a hit! I only wish I had three stomachs so I could have tried more! When in Wichita...Pollo Express should be mandatory!

I went back two days in a row cause it was so good. Had the Al Pastor nachos the first day and they were amazing. I went back the second day and had the Al Pastor tacos, and they were jam packed full of meat. Simple food done well. The service is fast, but the place is very small.

I just visited here and had the carne asada tacos. The food here is edible but I feel they cook all the flavor out of whatever meat they use. For three of these tacos and an iced tea it came to $12. And the tacos were on the simple and small side. Just meat onions and what appeared to be parsley. Just incredibly small portions for the price. There's a young guy that works here and he had no concept of what a server is supposed to do. I tried to get his attention six times in the dining area to get my iced tea refilled to no avail. I finally had to go up to the counter to get his attention and even then I had to wait for him to reappear from back in the kitchen area. It appears to be a family run place but this kid, I'm assuming is the Son, is awful at his job. I doubt I'll be back. Too expensive for the low quality and quantity of food and the service is terrible. Are there any good Mexican restaurants in Wichita? This one isn't it!

Had lunch here. Carnitas burrito and a carne asada taco. It was first class great Mexican food. Authentic and delicious - and I frequent hole in the wall Mexican joints. This qualifies as a hole in the wall - and the food will not disappoint. Will be back for sure.

Really good food. Small and charming. Service was really good. I'm not a rice and beans guy but it was very good. Had the carne asada tacos based on previous reviews and it was worth the trip. This place has been added to our work week lunch rotation.

I tried this today because of the other reviews. I was not disappointed. I had the enchiladas and they great and I loved the rice and the flavor of the beans. I will be back soon to try some more items.

Love the carne asada tacos, and the kids love the quesadillas, even the rice and beans. You can call in and pick up. Always friendly staff. Also, the salsas are awesome.

Love their Nachos! Salsa is homemade and delicious! They have fast service and are friendly. I recommend it to anyone who likes Mexican food.

Everything I've had on the menu was great. All of the staff are nice and one thing that I appreciate is that they remember their customers. Their drive through set up is pretty sketchy and you have to wait longer than if you went inside. I've had the carnitas plate, torta al pastor, mesquite chicken, and all were very good. Definitely a place to try if you're in Wichita.

Very good!! Salsa was flavorful. The gauc was fresh and some of the best guac I've ever had. My meal came with a cheese enchilada and beef burrito. Both were great! I even liked their refried beans which I never like. I would definitely come back.

Excellent al pastor (rotisserie pork) on fried flour, I take mine with lime on the side. Mexican Cokes (glass bottles). Very good flautas as well. Check it out for yourself.
